My Fancy Nights arrived, and this is looking like a BAD blind buy! Listed notes sound great, and so many keep talking about the major patchouli, and yet I barely smell any. SUPER strange note, Papyrus maybe?
First spray, ONE spray is strong!! Right away, it smelled “off”, like perfume you smell in an antique store :-O.
On my skin Fancy Nights is really!!! projecting an earthy, cut grass note (which I hate btw). There is some sweetness, vanilla, but it is dominated by the grass/damp, earthy so gross to me scent.
As Fancy Nights wears on me, I keep smelling a mold, or dank, wet basement smell. My skin does not do this. I do not think I can wear this!
For me…Fancy Nights is a total fail.

I just got a compliment for my new perfume, Fancy night.
Well.. The name is lame, the bottle looks a bit cheap and Im not a huge fan of Jessica Simpson…
But!! The perfume it self is great!
So strong at first it almost knocked me out, but after only a minute or two you can start to detect the different notes. A lot of the patchouli disappears quickly, but it remains enough to keep it interesting through the drydown. It changes and evolves throughout and after more than 12h it still remains! By that time it is a soft white flower scent on me.
This perfume keeps me interested, discovering its different layers and notes. And what sillage and longevity, amazing!
Waking up to this scent after having sprayed it on the night before is soothing for my soul.
Trying to drop my preconceptions about celebfrags.. 🙂

I read reviews, watched reviews and thought i was going to love this. It was a blind buy. I like some of her other scents so i figured she would create a patchouli scent that i would also like. Wrong! I hate fancy nights! Its too strong, too vetivery to my nose. And i hate vetiver. I dont smell the patchouli, or floral anything. Its masculine which i expected. But its just a masculine vertiver fragrance to me, and overwhelming!!
    Cute bottle though. But yikes.

If you are a fan of Prada Amber, before you need to repurchase it, check this one out.
It is pretty close to Prada Amber, but has Jessica’s “twist” in it. The opening for the first 5 minutes, smelled 90 – 95% similar to Prada Amber. But that stage did not last for long. On my skin, Fancy Nights dried down differently and much better than Prada Amber. It became a SWEET, powdery scent, warm, comforting and feminine. The papyrus and wood notes did not “shock” or “disgust”, or “bother” me at all, not as I was so afraid of. I got just a little bit of the woodsy papyrus, and the spicy vibe from the opening, but not so much of it in the dry down. Even my husband said that it smelled powdery and absolutely was not like the “bug spray” smell in many perfumes that he sniffed with me before 🙂 He actually likes this one on me.
I’m not a fan of strong amber note, but I really like it in Fancy Nights. I also got crisp patchouli, sweet vanilla, delicate rose, soft and non-sharp jasmine. There is nothing cloying, nor artificial smell that I detected. The dry down of Fancy Nights is quite nice, what a pleasant surprise, worth waiting for.
Fancy Nights is uniquely different, and I enjoy it way better than Fancy Love. I like Fancy Nights very much over Prada Amber. For the price, it is SO worth the risk, as I got the biggest size bottle at a fraction of the price. Also, the green bottle design is truly the best out of all Fancy bottles.

On my and my mother’ skins this is not very sweet, almost no sweetness at all, resembles Prada Amber a lot, although Prada Amber has better quality ingredients (and a higher price too), the papyrus is veery noticeable (differently from La Nuit Tresor, in which papyrus is almost negligible). I have difficulties with the papyrus note and was anosmic to Fancy Nights, now the anosmia lifted up and I can appreciate the perfume .Great longevity 9/10 hours , heavy sillage (I find it heavier than PA), really one of the best celeb perfumes, in my opinion. Just different from the uusual fruitchoulis.
Papyrus notes is a bit musty, gives the perfume a darker colour, a bit like old books.

I tried a sample of this because of the good reviews on this site. I’m always on the lookout for a low cost frag that actually smells nice.
Fancy Nights isn’t it. It starts strong and dries down fast to a run of the mill sugary smell. I don’t get patchouli, amber or papyrus. What does papyrus smell like? Paper maybe?
Anyway, FN is a disappointment. Yet another modern frag that is all glitz and no substance.

I read Marlen Harrison’s review of Fancy Nights here on Fragrantica and I bought blind a 50 ml. I’ve been disappointed with some recent blind purchases but not this time.
I love, love, love the patchouli bomb opening, and the sweeter vanilla/sandalwood drydown. Good performer too, I get about 2 hours before it turns to a skin scent (my skin eats perfume). I can’t comment on the Prada similarity, but if you’re on the fence and you own the one everyone is mentioning, I think it’s a safe blind buy for you too. The only thing I don’t like is the stupid name, but a small price to pay considering what’s inside this bottle.
I usually don’t pay attention to celeb scents, but I’m glad I own Fancy Nights and I will be recommending it to other perfume loving friends. I agree that it feels niche. (I own two other celebrity perfumes, Queen by Queen L. and Lady Gaga. Of the three, this is the more unique and interesting.)
    Back up bottle worthy.

Not a fan, smells nothing like prada prada to me, or if it is then it is the outdoor/green version. It is missing even the most subtle sweetness that would distinguish it as a feminine perfume. I use it as a room fragrance from time to time. In saying that individuals that enjoy a very earthy offbeat scent might like this.

  9. :

    4 out of 5

Indeed a patchouli bomb. The first ten minutes are overwhelming and then a softer side develops with honey sweetness. Patchouli continue throughout. I doubt I would wear this if I was in close quarters with others for extended periods of time. (Oud is another scent I adore, but would not inflict on others who abhor strong scents, Because it is so different from the current vogue it would definitely draw attention.) I would wear this outdoors, going for walks public festivals etc. I wear fragrances for myself but recognize that others may not share my taste and try to be sensitive to others. Definitely unisex.

I adore this. I have gone through 2 large bottles and a 1 0z. and a lotion and shower gel and as we speak I have a 3.3 bottle opened and ready to go for fall and two backups of those. I love patchouli, vanilla and the papyrus is nice. Absolutely beautiful, I can’t get enough.

Too reminiscent of my all time fragrance nemesis ‘Dana Tabu’. Even so, kudos to Jessica for breaking the cookie cutter genre of ‘darker’ celebrity fragrances. Just not a winner on me. X

  12. :

    5 out of 5

I really like this fragrance. Its patchouli-papyrus notes remind me of old books but with patchouli sprayed on them. I don’t think I could wear this in hot weather as it’s quite polarising. Moderate sillage but lasts only 4 hours on my skin. I can understand many people may not like this but I think it’s a good patchouli scent without the the typical fruitchoulis that is more common in perfumes. A good non-typical celebrity fragrance.

  13. :

    3 out of 5

As much as this is a “celebrity fragrance”, it’s one of my favourites and I get so many compliments (then have to mumble “Jessica Simpson” rather quietly). It definitely strays from the usual gourmand scents that celebrities stick to, and for that I love it. I’ve bought this scent again and again and will need to stockpile more if it’s ever discontinued. Its longevity is to be admired, and it has a mysterious, elegant tone that I adore, even for daytime wear. Recommended if you’re a fan of patchouli scents!

One of the best celebrity perfumes on the market. Very similar to Coromandel and Prada Amber.

I’m really into chypres right now and was hoping to like this, but I just don’t. I find the papyrus note very unpleasant. Bummer. 🙁

    BOTTLE HAS BEEN CLAIMED!
I have a 30 ml bottle of this, tested once, still in the box. Free to anyone for the cost of shipping. Message me if you’d like it.
It’s a well-constructed fragrance to be sure, just much too heavy and woody on me. I tested it at home and my husband didn’t want to be anywhere near me.

Hello from Deco Dawn. Fancy nights wow! Firstly I love the gold box and the heavy green glass bottle with gold lid. Looks very eastern promise and expensive and high quality. £10 on eBay for a new bottle in original box. Blind bought after reading the positive favourable reviews. Smells EXACTLY LIKE Prada Amber.
Best blind buy I have ever purchased. Try it you will love it.

Frogopolis, on the skin of my mother and , to a certain point, mine it lasts for a good 12 hours with heavy to moderate projection for 3/4 hours. It can only be used on cool/cold temps (which restrict its use in Brazil), as it is a heavy fragrance. it is one of mother’s favorite. I have a partial anosmia to Fancy Night(due to the papyrus note) and can only smell from the 4th hour on, and still I can feel it for more than 5/6 hours. different skins and noses produce different results. I like FN very much and don’t think it cheap or short lived but, of course, I am not a perfumer like you.

You get what you pay for. A few years back I read a positive review for this on one of my favorite perfume blogs, and since I’m a seasoned perfumista with a taste for the unusual I decided to give this cheapie a whirl.
    It’s disappointing
“Different,” yes— it’s markedly different from most celebrity fragrances in that it isn’t trying to be cute, sweet, or likable.
However, the devil is in the details. While other dark spiky fragrances like Angel & Oud Wood are carefully crafted and take your nose on a journey, Fancy Nights smells cheap and one-dimensional to the extreme. It’s basically just artificial chocolate extract + book dust + low quality patchouli. Doesn’t evolve on the skin, doesn’t last long, and doesn’t smell remotely interesting. Or good.

  20. :

I’m surprised I liked this fragrance, because of the notes. when I first sprayed it, it smells like an olden time perfume like from the 80s? It smells like chocolate on my skin and sweeter after the dry down probably cause of the vanilla. I can’t describe the other notes I smell as I don’t know what it’s supposed to smell like lol. It quite strong smelling on me maybe 1 or 2 sprays is enough. I feel like it would suit a mature aged woman? This fraqrance is different to all the other fancy flankers.

I was really intrigued after reading all the reviews, so I tracked a bottle down…..
I have had this for a year now,and have given it several times to redeem itself, grow on me,whatever you want to call it, but it aint working. Summer time, winter time, day, night.
I don’t even know where to start describing this…scent, but I will try.
Imagine a hot attic in the summertime, and you are going thru a trunk that has been locked for years and all those old clothes with sweat baked in are now releasing that pungent odor upon your poor unsuspecting nose.
    Old.Sweat.Funk
I get nothing mentioned like patch, jasmine, rose, vanilla etc. Nothing drys down, nothing develops, nothing changes.
I wouldn’t even use this as an air freshener. 🙁

  22. :

This certainly is a polarizing fragrance.
For me, it is solidly within the “like” column–but I could see how it could go the opposite way for others, especially if they arrived at Fancy Nights after trying Jessica Simpson’s other branded scents.
As mentioned before, this is a departure for this fragrance line, and celebrity scents in general. Where Fancy is a fruity-floral-sugary caramel bomb (that I also enjoy), Fancy Nights is deep, dark, and balsamic–worlds apart. They both share a healthy dose of vanilla, though.
On my skin (which never fails to amplify vanilla), Fancy Nights is chiefly balsamic and slightly powdery, with a smoky amber-vanilla and soft patchouli throughout. The papyrus note is strong in the beginning, and I do find it jarring and disjointed at first, but it settles on my skin relatively quickly. Fancy Nights is potent, but soft–a bit like Shalimar in that respect, but nowhere near as nuanced, complex and impeccable as the Grand Dame.
It is a modern nod to those classic balsamic and chypre style fragrances, and considering how much I adore that style, I also enjoy this.

Never expected a scent like this to come from Jessica Simpson.
This thing has balls. It’s a huge, masculine patchouli bomb that has a cool middle eastern vibe. Most women will hate it. Nothing sweet or feminine to round it out.
I hardly ever wear it, but do admire it. I live in a cold climate, and it’s nice on those overcast autumn days when I’m feeling a little withdrawn and introspective. It’s definitely a ‘mood’ fragrance. It’s much softer after it settles in a couple of hours.
Would smell fantastic on intellectual, earthy-type guys.

    Evocative of Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant.
Veers into rose where Jungle veers to ylang ylang and spice.
I wore patchouli a lot during “The Dark Ages” of avoiding synthetic scent.
Now my nose is ruined for it. When it’s blended into scents I don’t recognize it very well.
This is good if you like bright, spicy scents. Not a love because of a sourness but it’s interesting.
    It lasts a long time.
Update: Really impressed with the drydown. It softens and lasts. Comforting. I love this now.

  25. :

Wow that papyrus note is amazing! My first impression was moth balls. Moth balls in a dusty cupboard full of old books. Really woody! When that dies down this reminds me of the 70’s/80’s fumes like Panache and Charlie. This is definitely not your typical celebuscent.

  26. :

    4 out of 5

I do not enjoy wearing this. Is a musty patchouli bomb. It doesnt change at all from spray to hours later so I find it boring. I dont know what these other reviewers are smelling when they say its complex. Its one scent that never develops into anything else. Its not sexy, pretty or even interesting.

◘ Improving Fancy Night with DKNY “BE DELICIOUS” ◘
DKNY: BE DELICIOUS = Sweet Candy Apple bomb. Its Beautiful, but lean way too Feminine for me to wear outside.
JS Fancy Night = Dry Papryus Patchouli bomb, too Masculine for any human.
I’ve try 3 experiments: (1) Mix FN with BeDelicous, (2) spray FN first as BASE then DKNY as TOP, (3) spray DKNY as BASE, then FN as top. My best result is #2: spray FN 1st as base, then DKNY as a Sweet Topping, then RUB them together over my skin.
The result is a fascinating interplay of Sweet Apple vs Dry Chocolate Patchouli battle. Depends on your Skin Chemistry, humidify, and how both scent reacts with one another. I sometimes catch a Whiff of Apple then chocolate, sweet but masculine. I think I just created a Masculine version of DKNY BE DELICOUS for men 😉
JS-Fancy Night has become an ADDITIVE agent for my overly sweet fragrances. When I have a Fragrance that is either too Sweet (Playboy VIP Platnium) or fragrance that lean too Feminine (DKNY Be Delicous), a doze of JS-FN add the much needed Testosterone-like Dry Patchouli Base and turn a Masculine fragrance that I can wear proudly.

Fancy Nights is a warm spicy chypre reminiscent of vintage perfumes. For patchouli lovers only, because the patch in this is not messing around. Fancy Nights conjurs up images of mystery and antiquity… old libraries or Egyptian tombs. Every now and then the smoky-sweet vanilla rises through the herbal layers and reminds me of vintage Shalimar (yes!). The bottle makes me think of some object lifted from the Emerald City in Wizard of Oz. I love this style from a celebrity, it’s quite risk taking and such a departure from the rest of Jessica’s fragrance line, which follows the more mainstream trend of sweetness. (Fancy Love is practically a dupe of Burberry Woman) I did enjoy Jessica Simpson Signature, which was a light refreshing vanilla. But if you’re going to try her line, be bold and try Fancy Nights first, for some real old school glamour. It’s been compared to the expensive Prada Amber by people with better noses than me.

Just gross. Notes are horribly mixed and it’s hard to wash off. I gave it away and will never buy it again. Fancy on the other hand is a work of art.

◘ Improving Fancy Night with Sweet Praline cologne ◘
I mixed Dry Papyrus/dry Patchouli Fancy Night with an Praline “White Chocolaty” [ Playboy VIP Platinum ] cologne = ♥ Lovely Stunningly Milk Chocolate Gourmand ♥ with deep character. Since both fragrances are rather strong, they fight against each other producing fascinating scent character as they developed and mixed together.
Jessica Fancy Nights tame the suffocatingly sweetness of Praline in Playboy VIP Platinum into a Darker + Smokier + Sexier scent. While Playboy VIP Platinum inject the much needed Sweet Youth & Vitality into the dry MUMMY-LIKE Fancy Night. The resulting concoction = Magical Improvement over the original two. I highly recommend you try (1) Layering or (2) Mixture JS-Fancy Night with cloying sweet fragrances.
PS – I did try mixing a $249 Bond #9 New Harlem (Sweet Maple Syrup) and the result wasn’t as good as mixing with a Praline Dominated Playboy VIP Platinum.

THE DRY DOWN IS EVERYTHING. I really don’t like the opening, mainly bc of the sandalwood and possibly the oak moss. I knew it would be a bit heavy and sort of inscensey (if that’s a word) and from the bottleI assumed it was middle eastern inspired. I’ve seen a lot of people say they didn’t like it, so I had to try it. At first I was disappointed, but when it dried down it is such a beautiful scent. I can definitely see me out on a date with this scent looking and feeling sexy.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

I thought I would really like this, because I love deep, dark, mysterious and heavy scents, and my skin finds any sweetness and amplifies it… so I blind bought, actually encouraged by the polarizing reactions, but this doesn’t work with my chemistry at all! There is something about it, maybe the papyrus? that makes me smell like I am sweating out a pound of roasted garlic. A garlicky body odor with a tiny bit of old makeup scent. I really hope it works better on a girlfriend of mine.

I’m not generally a ‘celebuscent’ kind of person. I only own one other and I got it for mostly the same reason I got this one. The description and reviews made it sound like something very much out of the ordinary.
I have never smelled the original ‘Fancy’ and I have no interest in doing so. I’m not a particular fan of Jessica Simpson. If I am being completely honest, I’m kind of embarrassed that I like and wear a scent with her name on it. However, I do like it and I do wear it.
The opening is a bit sharp but not unpleasant. The citrus and papyrus may be what gives the opening it’s edge. After a few minutes it settles down and the softer, richer notes come into play. The amber, vanilla, and patchouli are the main elements with the rose and jasmine filling out the middle notes. Oakmoss and sandalwood keep things earthy. I can’t smell much in the way of citrus after the opening.
I’m really surprised that this was even chosen as a celebuscent and its waaaaay different from what I would expect from a personality as…..frothy as Jessica Simpson. This is a dark, exotic scent. Night is exactly the right name. It is not a cuddly sort of scent but its also not super formal. I get quite a few comments when I wear it and they are very positive. I would definitely wear this to a club or special event. I’m at the 6 hour mark wearing it today and it is still very evident so the longevity is quite good. Early on the sillage is strong but as it mellows with time, it draws closer to the body.
There is a unisex quality to Nights. I could see a man who likes to smell unique wearing this but its not super masculine. I think the person who wears this scent just needs to enjoy being outside the norm.

Fancy Nights you remind me of Egypt❤️
The desert, Khan El khalili bazaar❤️
I can totally see myself wearing this gorgeous scent, shopping through the bazaar, or walking on the desert.
The patchouli & papyrus are heavy, in your face, the Amber & sandalwood helps with the heaviness in the fragrance.
If you’re on of those people who can rock this perfume, I salute you.
I can’t wear this much, only ever reach out to it once a blue moon.
If I ever go to Egypt again I’m definitely taking this beauty with me for sure!
    Longevity: 2-3 sprays , 6-7 hours

To me this smells like riding through the middle of a street fair in some exotic land. Where they are selling delicious tea, fresh dipped incense and soaps made of top quality ingredients. It’s a scent that you want to follow. It becomes lovely after 10 or 15 minutes on my skin. This is a fragrance that you need in your collection. The bottle is perfect for the scent. I love the deep jade & gold color. I wear this when I am feeling bold, and want to be noticed. For the price you absolutely can not go wrong.
Sandalwood, incense, warm amber and deep dark vanilla that peaks through.
( I can imagine an exotic beauty wearing this )

I have to admit, I used to despise this scent but I suppose that my tastes are forever changing and evolving.
I cannot say wether or not if Fancy Nights smells anything like Prada Amber but what I can say is that it smells very expensive and rich.
Now I understand not everyone is going to love this scent and to be honest, i’m not going to wear it every single day (especially in hot weather) but I feel that a fragrance like this one is worth a spot in your fragrance wardrobe. The patchouli is strong but not dirty or ‘sweaty’, it’s green and warm. I love the papyrus note, it’s clean and crisp almost. The drydown is nice amber and vanilla goodness. Don’t hesitate to buy a backup, this fragrance is a steal.

This fragrance and I had a rough start. I could not stand the suffocating smell. Eventually, I resorted to spraying it on my shower curtain. Fast forward to the winter, and a transformation occurred that defies explanation. I am now passionately in love. I spray it on my pjs, my comforter, I cannot get enough of it. It is so cheap that I am stocking up.

  39. :

    3 out of 5

This has got to be the worst scent my nose has ever smelt. All I get is the papyrus, overwhelmingly cloying sickly tacky smell. No patchouli or sandlewood which I love. I had read some reviews mentioning it was a cheaper version of Prada Amber which I had and loved but it is nothing like that at all. I wouldn’t even use this as a bathroom scent. My first and last venture into cheap perfume.

  40. :

A stunning surprise from a celebuscent.
I confess that I have often prejudice about these celebrity scents but this time I can say that my blind bought is very positive.
Papyrus note doesn’t disturb me at all,it makes gem a little acid and pungent, with a hint of fizzy humour. The amber heart note is peculiar and not powdery but sweet and almondy.
I recommend this Fancy Nights to all that want wear expensive with a beautiful bargain perfume. The wallet

    @ Lizzard
There is a possibility that the perfume in the bottle you have purchased is somehow faulty. I recommend you ask someone you trust to smell the content. If they say that they can smell it (and they should be able to – clearly – as Fancy Nights is not a shy perfume) then you are partially anosmic to it. If this is the case, then Socorrosouza’s suggestions are absolutely bang on the money.
Please don’t spray FN wildly, in an attempt to smell it – if the perfume isn’t faulty, you’ll asphyxiate anyone near you!
    Good luck.

I blind bought based on reviews. Sounded perfect as I love patchouli and have enjoyed a couple of her other offerings……however I’m so disappointed – it’s so weak and watery!!! There is nothing but a rather boring skin scent less than an hour after I apply it

Great unisex for everyone. I already ordered a supply, I heard that they are withdrawn, does anyone know what about it? Beautiful patchouli in an expensive edition. I love FANCY NIGHTS.

  45. :

I purchased this because I read it was very similar to Prada Amber. I am so glad I did. This smells very close if not entirely the same. The bottle is cute as well. I might layer this with something sweet like my fave Lolita Lempicka. It’s missing some sweetness found in Prada. One spray and it stayed for quite some time, a couple of hours. Overall, a pretty good find. If you’re looking to save money on prada amber, fancy nights is gonna hook you up and have you smelling delicious for under $8.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

I read about how this is similar to Prada Amber. I underestimated that statement pretty badly. I just got Fancy Nights and it smells exactly like it.
Problem is, i DONT like Prada Amber very much. So for me this is not that great.
However, if you love Prada Amber you best be picking up a bottle of this
everyone complains about the excess of patchouli, as someone who literally rubs the essential oil on to my skin, it’s pretty tame in my honest opinion.
I get alot of amber and vanilla though which uhh i don’t care about.
Ill wear it a bit and see how I like it, so far its not my thing because it just smells too much like something I generally didnt enjoy
Don’t let my review deter you from getting it if this is exactly the kind of scent you’d like.

At first spritz the patchouli is so thick it is reminiscent of Reminiscence Patchouli. I was a bit ecstatic! I could save some serious dough! But that only lasted for a couple minutes. That note fades and then it settles into what it becomes, a patchouli heavy scent that is quite wearable if that is your thing. Not quite the quality of patch in Reminiscence but definetly wearable. It is actually better that I thought it would be. I’m not a big celebuscent fan but this is nice and the bottle is attractive and the price is unbeatable.

Jessica Simpson defied expectation with her celebuscent, Fancy Nights. Not that I see her donning a lab coat and protective goggles while comparing methods of oakmoss extraction. Maybe this did, in fact, take place. I highly doubt it but one never knows. Oh, but to take a whiff of this beauty, one has to wonder if maybe she could hold a discussion about such things.
A reviewer below mentioned the smell of books. I love this because it smells like an old opened book. There’s a little dust, an underlying mustiness, and an unusual inky element. Above all, there is the smell of paper. I am no expert but I’ll venture to guess it is due to the papyrus note. The patchouli is a bit dirty but like those found in head shops. It is very verdant here, like reading books in a forest. Longevity is superb, and though I find it is linear it is surprisingly complex, too.
I must confess: I hated this the first few times I tried it. I was reminded of a pine-scented household cleanser. I think this initial reaction was due to the fact I’d grown accustomed to celebrity scents smelling of candy floss and sugar cubes. This defies any and all expectation of what a celebuscent is and could be. Yes, this is sweet but it isn’t gourmand. FN is a very green vanilla—my favorite genre of fragrance—and it is totally inedible. For what it is, FN is very daring and worthy of commendation. Perfume aficionados should try this once, then two more times before either completely dismissing it or falling hopelessly in love.

I went with 30 ml gift for my mom as a test. I tried it before and thought she’ll hate it. Turns out it’s her favorite. She’s 47 and loves sweet perfumes. I have to say this smells as old books in a library at the beginning but withing half an hour it turns into something sophisticated and ladylike. I went from hate to love with this. This rarely happens to me.
How to compare it? Imagine Marlene Dietrich in winter. This is how it smells like. It’s so cheap that you can’t make a mistake even if you hate it.
Don’t expect every celebrity frag to be targeted for 12 year olds. If it was Versace you’d be drooling for it.

It’s dirty cheap, a year ago I’ve got it from US, but now is available here where I live for a few EUR. It’s all about patchuoli with vanilla and lime-all what would play for me, BUT papyrus note (most probably) destroys a magic. It evolves a nasty drydown on my skin- I swapped it to a more loving home.

I am blown away by this one!!! Heavy and sweet but not cloyingly sweet.. Lush deep amber and a sweetish medicinal note that isn’t quite oud but is rather like an Arabian oil. This actually also reminds me of a more wearable, modern interpretation of Tabu with the rose and patchouli. If I focus, I can really smell every individual note including the lime, oakmoss, and sandalwood. I don’t quite know what papyrus smells like though!
Yes it is a cheapie but it smells expensive and totally unlike anything I’d expect with a bubbly pop star’s name on it. I get the “old lady” references, this smells like it’s from a bygone era but in such a good way. I wouldn’t wear this to work but I can’t wait to wear it out…very much an evening scent, full of mystery and intrigue.

Jessica Simpson is a musician who must have probably revived some songs at least once in her career? I don’t know. But in here, she has revived a similar fragrance.
Jessica Simpson’s Fancy Nights. It does somehow take my breath away. A $4 perfume for 30 ml that almost makes me feel like I’m wearing that $80+ perfume from a designer house. The two fragrances resemble each other by 97 percent, like identical twins of varying tastes. While the other fragrance is more light and airy, conjuring up the image of a “radiant golden amber,” Jessica Simpson’s Fancy Nights smells like a “dense and dark-colored amber,” which calls to mind an image of caramelized sugar sans the sweetness.
This fragrance is heavier, too. This is one of those times when “heavy” could mean “longer-lasting” both on fabric and on skin. There’s no better perfume than the other. Just a matter of taste. Of luxury labels and status. And of financial priority.

I was gifted this fragrance as an early Christmas gift by my boyfriend yesterday after reading reviews and can say that this fragrance lives up to the hype. It does smell very similar to Prada Amber but I actually think Fancy Nights is nicer. My only criticism is that it does smell quite synthetic but I think for a celebrity fragrance it is incredibly bold and definitely steers away from the notorious gourmand stereotype and is worth a smell purely on that basis. Very innovative. Thumbs up Miss Simpson!

I’m so glad I ignored the old lady comments about this one! I can’t believe Jessica Simpson came out with this. Needless to say it is nothing like her other fragrances but that’s a good thing since there are too many sugary gourmands out now as it is. It is definitely a nod to the 80s powerhouses but more modernized. There is enough vanilla to keep it from being sharp. I could do without the papyrus in the opening but it’s not a big deal. The drydown is a very nice, sexy amber vanilla. Oh and it lasts a long time! 8+ hours.
I see myself wearing this one at night more than day and in winter more than summer.
If you are sick of gourmands like me or are looking for something bold, give it a shot. You might be pleasantly surprised plus it’s cheap as hell.
