Received a vial sample of this recently, and Eternity for Men is a strong stereotypically masculine scent. Outdated IMO, and reminds me of middle-aged men in the 90s. (Car salesman mentioned below is right on).
The scent is outdated because it is quite strong, almost nauseatingly so. In that way, it actually reminds me more of early 1980s scents, rather than even the 90s. Not even quite modern back then. Lacks the nuances of contemporary fragrances. On the other hand, I suspect that one could buy this quite cheap from the discount sources. Not for me though, and I would stand clear of any man who wears it.

I don’t really like this fragrance very much
It has the same synthetic note as Acqua Quorum which I find unpleasant.

    I love Chanel Platinum Egoiste.
I like Eternity, since it is on the same vibe. For sure, you can feel Chanel’s one is more classy and Eternity smells a little cheaper, but at 1/4 of the price at online discounters, I think that’s a good bargain.

Very Green and Soapy, those are really what this fragrance accomplish. There are hints of other things but when you get this frag you are buying a Green Soap scent with hints of citrus and other florals that are to be frank; blended very well for a Calvin Klein fragrance, they compliment that Green Grass and Soap main notes very well.
Biggest problem with this fragrance is that it’s flat out dated, it just is. I am planning on adding it to the rotation more but I feel like there are better soapy fragrances out in the Market that’ll just be better / more pleasing.
This isn’t a bad fragrance imo; i think it’s a solid Work fragrance provided you don’t go too h.a.m on the sprays and also if you have good air circulation because the soapy greenness could for sure turn ppl off
For the price it’s a really great deal
The only other real big problem is when I personally smell this, it kinda smells like either A) A new Car smell or B) a Car Salesman
I think that’s why I am very apprehensive in wearing this one even with a fantastic price and a fairly pleasing scent.
If you are looking for a very solid semi-long lasting fragrance for work then I think this does very well in execution if you like Green Grass scented Soap (any soapy frag is always good for work generally)
it’s a lil generic / outdated even with all the notes
solid 6.5/10 imo which may seem low but when you really look at soapy fragrances there are actually some really great soap / clean frags today that are just downright better, even if it were only judged against other green type of scents I don’t think it’ll get great results when compared to some other scents.
It’s almost blindbuy worthy provided you aren’t a child and you don’t overspray and you are looking for this particular type of scent

This is truly a timeless masterpiece. So green, fresh, clean, crisp, and refreshing. It’s subtle and smells so light and cool. I love the lavender and Brazilian rosewood. It’s very masculine even with all the flowers that compose it. It lasts about 6 hours on my skin. I’ll always love Eternity.

COMPLEMENT GOD ALERT- no but really I was actually quite surprised out of all of the colognes that I have Eternity always won. For an example I used to bartend and the girls I worked with almost always complemented when I wore this.
This now is considered a classic (which shows my age) with hints of lavender and citrus. This scent goes great in the spring/summertime and lasts up to six hours. I have also found this cologne at Marshall’s and purchased it for $20!
Would I buy this again? Absolutely. I have gone through several bottles of this over the years and will continue to have it in my collection.
The Gents score: 9/10 (Complement God)

Hah! I just found an almost empty bottle of this stuff in a box with various memorabilia from the late 90s in the basement. I didn’t even remember owning this – the only CK I remember owning in the 90s was the “controversial” CK One which I remember because I (sigh!) shared it with my GF back then.
This was probably one of the last popular freshie designer scents that came out before the aquatic and AdG wave swept all over the landscape. Eternity IS fresh, but I can see how the combo of citrus and especially lavender also could make it seem a little dated for youngsters (which is pretty ok, being released about 30 years ago), since it is slightly powdery. That being said, it is still a great allrounder that could be used in most places and settings. Don’t expect an abstractly composed niche product, but a slightly generic but still very pleasant fougere.
I am not sure how it performs today after IFRA restrictions, but this oldie I have surely both projects and lasts longer than most springtime scents I have that were produced within the last five years.
Overall a pretty decent piece of work from Carlos Benaim.

I am wondering that can I find the similar scent of Eternity Summer 2012, it has just the same name for sales strategy it is a totally different scent, I bought original eternity after trying the summer 2012 version however it was disappointment for me.
Anyone who has large scale knowledge about parfumes can advise me ?

Don’t let anyone kid you that Eternity’s popularity meant only people with poor taste bought it: the original (late 80s-early 90s) Eternity was wonderful stuff: light and bright enough for the ladies to like it, but masculine enough to wear in a smoky Tokyo bar full of hard-drinking American servicemen and hard-partying Australians, as I did.
Unfortunately the modern version is not so good so please “try before you buy”.
You can find the original bottles (or at least earlier versions of it) on eBay.
The original bottle was a splash cologne (not spray) had “ETERNITY FOR MEN” written in ALL CAPS and the bottom of the bottle said “Calvin Klein Cosmetics” and was made in New York.
I bought one I found on eBay and while the bottle and the Eternity in it was real, it smelled like someone had left a rusty nail lying in the liquid (due to the oxidation)…which is a pretty common problem in old vintage bottles unfortunately.
From what I’m told, the bright top notes tend to go bad first in vintage fragrances and vintage Eternity bottles are only about 50/50 likely to still be good…so it’s a bit of a crapshoot but if you can find one at the right price and the seller claims it still smells good, it might be worth buying.

One of my personal faves, it just smells good. Reminds me of my youth and summer days. It’s aged to this point, but it still smells really good despite the aging. My first self bought fragrance. Citrus, clean, and masculine smelling. Simple, but effective. Love it and….
    LOVE YOU NAB

A friend gave me a sample vial of this. Clean sandal wood; some lavender and citrus. There’s not much to this fragrance but that’s not a bad thing. While the notes don’t smell exactly natural they’re not too synthetic smelling either. There’s a simple clean vibe to Eternity that reminds me of a lotion type smell.
I expected this to be pretty boring. Even though there’s nothing ground breaking here I’m surprised at how much I’m enjoying it. Smells unisex, slightly masculine; for any age or season. Good for work but not sexy. Sillage and projection are pretty soft from the start. Nearly nothing left after only four hours. I think it’s hard to dislike this one. Probably the reason why it was so popular. It could perform better but it’s pretty inexpensive. Nice fragrance!

I just recently bought a new bottle of Eternity and wondered where 25 years had gone. I was in high school, 1993, and every guy wore CK Obsession or Aramis or Ralph Lauren Polo Green. A few even wore Stetson. I went to our local Proffits store (Belk prior to Proffits and back to Belk now). I figured I might as well get the Obsession then I saw Eternity. They had the display with the beautiful brunette woman wrapping her arms around a man wearing Eternity. I didn’t even smell it. It became my first ever signature scent because no one in my school had it. I still remember this one female student, pausing her gossip and chat with her friends to say, “What are you wearing?” Her friends could have left the room and she wouldn’t have known. Then it started happening more frequently so my cousin told all the other guys what it was and everyone bought a bottle. I don’t wear it much these days. The bottle that recently ran out lasted for 12 years. Still, there’s nothing at all wrong with this cologne. It still turns heads and brings compliments. I get 6-8 hours of low projection with it. The next year, I discovered Givenchy Pi and threatened to beat my cousin up if he told anyone what it was but I don’t buy the Pi anymore and am still keeping a bottle of the Eternity around. Says a lot for it.

I Know that this one is STRONG one because i gave a bottle to my dad and when he use Eternity, scent filles a room and radiates from 3 meters. When I use it, I feel scent on me from 5 – 10 cm, but I know that the other people feel aroma of this scent much stronger than me. My nose was used to this smell and prank me.
    Strong stuf, thumbs up
Classic, elegant, lavender-fruity (bergamote in this scent is delicious)-wetiver/woody/aroma scent.
    Timeless.
    Color: green.
    Very Versatile.
    Great projection and longevity.
Nice price for good quality scent.
Something like and good as Chanel Platinum Egoiste but less price.

What does Calvin Klein mean to you?
Well to me it means… beautiful underated scents!!
This is slightly citrus more floral/herbal, it is almost 30 years old but it does not smell old, like some people here claim.
(some people over-use the word “old-school” just because the scent was made a long time ago…this scent could have easily been produced in the last 10 years…)
I wear it regularly and I bought a new bottle only last year!!
Eternity is simple, imaginative, uplifting and timeless!!

This is old school…I remember everyone wearing this. I bought a bottle recently after not smelling this for years. Smelling it again brings back a lot of memories.
While it is a clean scent, the opening is kind of medicinal to me. This fades as it dries down, but that note makes this stand out from more typical or newer fresh scents.
I think this still holds up after all these years. It’s a bright, sparkling classic that I’m glad to have in my collection.

Fresh, clean and youthful. This is a scent of a nice young man.
There’s nothing complex or mind-blowing about this but it works, it simply works. Its a highly likeable scent, people of all age will be pleased to smell this. Somehow, it smells like ‘Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch’ but CK Eternity is more mature.

this perfume is quite synthetic. it reminds me of those sport drinks we drank when we were younger. Its longevity is quite ok, mabye about 4 hours. it starts out quite rough and synthetic but after a while it cools down and becomes quite pleasant. its distinct smell causes it to be not a everyday fragrance. for those days where i dont really want to wear a fragrance, i stay miles away from this one. but overall i find it quite pleasing, and quite a compliment attractor. I get the best reactions about 1 hour after applying because its where most of the base notes start to kick in

Essentially Aqua di gio back in the day.. but with a more timeless approach hint hint. This also beats out ADG due to its audience, versitality( CAN be worn year around ) giving its complexity and richness.. you can tell the juice is quality and not watered down with its oily texture/viscosity. Lasts. One of the best fragrances that can appeal to anyone. Such a good crisp sweetness that is amazing in both summer and winter.

Growing up amidst of CK one , Ultramarine, and later Aqua di Gio, I somehow managed to slip thru this one… anyways finally trying to catch up 20 or so years later…. and …….. um Aventus Light?
A rough fougere with heavy fruit syrup plopped on top. Smoke undertone strong. Tad cloying, but effective. I can see why this was so poular. Not exactly my taste, still I like it. Especially considering how easy you can find one for cheap.

I have to say this is a very fresh aroma… very strong in the start, very comfortable and good performance BUT after 4 hours, the sillage comes down in huge way. I cant deny the fragrance in the dry-down is very GOOD, actually reminds me to Egoiste Platinum, there is a component (I dont know which one) that smells very similar between these perfumes to me (just saying)
BUT come on CK, this is a good aroma but the performance is very very bad after the 4 hours.
ESCAPE has better performance so Why this does not? For me, this reduce the quality. First time I buy a bottle and I think I will not do it again.

As I said in other reviews, it’s always nice from time to time to return to the reassuring arms of Calvin Klein fragrances.
Some of them are outstanding, iconic and some others are simply forgettable and fleeting in its longevity. Yet they are forgivable.
Eternity was the perfume of my brother when we were growing up in early 90’s. I was more into European/not too common scents, like Joop!
Today I bought Eternity for myself for the first time and it immediately brought back memories from my 90’s crazy wild nights out. The citric/metallic mix of the time, a trademark of the original L’eau d’Issey, is present here although in a softer way thanks to the lavender, vetiver and sandalwood.
It’s comforting at many levels. I’m glad I bought it.

This is one fragrance you either love or hate, whether it be for your nostalgia of being younger or because you had a high school boo who wore it.
On myself it is wonderful, I can’t vouch for other. This has been my go to whether I’m running low on others or can’t decide on what to wear. It has changed with my nose over time but this has received more compliments….. and a** than anything I’ve worn.
I highly recommend due to its versatility and the way it shines during any season.

I tried today; eternity, d&g the one, Hugo-Hugo boss, Hugo boss soul.
The accords look right, but I had a warm teetering on acidic feel to it as I wore it through the late afternoon.
It’s a stinking hot as hell humid summer so that might be what’s at play.
All in all I think this is a long time fragrance that’s been around so that says something, I might try it on a cooler day and see what happens.

it’s a good fragrance on it’s own way.

  30. :

    4 out of 5

This fragrance defined the early 90’s “fresh” smell for me. Before we were inundated with aquatic fragrances, Eternity was THE clean fragrance that worked magic with citrus, florals, and spices. Lemon and bergamot mix with lavender and jasmine, and then are turned a shade of green with sage and basil.
It’s a study in contrasts, both earthy and fresh, energizing and relaxing at the same time.
It’s been flanked to death (how much does Eternity Summer for Men 2011 differ from Eternity Summer for Men 2012 anyway, and did we really need Eternity Night as well as Eternity Aqua?), and that probably hurts the reputation of the original, but I still think this fragrance is unique and worth revisiting.
It wasn’t long after the release of Eternity and Escape that Calvin Klein fragrances started becoming boring and predictable for too many consecutive years, but I won’t let that tarnish how good Eternity for Men was and still is.
Spray some on after your morning shower. You won’t regret it.

  31. :

A good starting one. It’s refreshing, and comfortable. It begins with very refreshing smelling and turns into soft after about 1 hour. Somehow energetic so probably not suitable for night.

Classic 90’s years soapy lemon+lavender creation. I really don’t like it, but I don’t hate it. This one is wearable, not outdated and not a typical grandpa smell. Not too much, not too loud, not too intense, not overwhelming. The first half hour is a huge bomb of lavender+lemon+soapy combination, then become a more pleasent green-floral composition (jasmine is the dominant) The base is a really good woody-musk-amber scent, but nothing special. The best thing in this perfume, that the soapy vibe fades away with the top notes.
    – Sping/summer, daytime scent
    – Sillage and the logvetiy are slightly above the avarage, longevity is 6 hours.
    – Safe blind buy
    Scent (open, top-mid): 6/10 (x2)
    Scent (drydown, base): 7.5/10 (x2)

Great for day to day wear. It’s fresh, clean and has a sweetness to it that when dry down happens it turns into something more woody. It’s inexpensive and easily found, definitely more of a summery cologne though.

Hubs smelled this on a cousin and asked for it. It’s nice, but no wow. A pretty, fresh, clean, masculine scent. It has a touch of metallic in it. I think he loves it less than he expected, but he wears it sometimes. He just caters more to his powerhouse sweet, spicy, and floral scents.
This is a current formulation. And for the review, I wore it myself.

This is a classic example of how sometimes love wears out, when many best options are out there… [and that can apply to many things ;-)]
I am wearing it today after at least a year, and I have an older batch big bottle close to end, that still keeps the real scent, I think this has been reformulated as well since I also have the silver bottle of the 25th anniversary and it smells different.
I think this is a good cologne in general, that had its glorious years, but now is time to let go.

This is a cologne that I will always enjoy. I remember being around 10 years old when it first came out and it was a complete change of pace from the typical men fragrances of that era. My teenage older sister had a boyfriend who used it and he carried it in his backpack, letting me spray some on occasions. I always enjoyed it but it became far too common among guys. Fast forward to now and being the vintage collector that I am, I had to have it. I refuse to buy anything manufactured by Coty, so early releases are a must have. If you’re looking for a vintage bottle, please beware…early formulations (Calvin Klein Cosmetics) have most likely turned bad due to the citrus top notes. I learned the hard way, purchasing 2 different bottles before settling for the Unilever version (pre-2003 I think). It’ smells just how I remember, although longevity is average. To me, this is not dated at all. Fresh citrus, woodsy, masculine. You can’t go wrong here.

ETERNITY BY CALVIN KLEIN (1990) By Carlos Benaim
The iconic signature 90’s men’s cologne. One whiff of this stuff and the Clintons are in the White House, Friends is on TV, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are an item, girls are sporting Donna Karan and Calvin Klein and the shortest miniskirts, and guys wore plaid unbuttoned shirts over regular T shirts. Formulated by Carlos Benaim, a superior nose in the business who has created commercial successes such as Halston, Ralph Lauren Polo, White Diamonds, Quorum Jasmin Noir and Flower Bomb. For Calvin Klein, he also created the ever popular and best selling woman’s perfume Euphoria. Eternity was a hit. This stuff was everywhere. It was the scent of a young man in school, or even a college drop-out, with long hair and liberal philosophies. I wore this not because it was popular but because it was what I felt to be a twist on Ralph Lauren Polo, a green clean fresh scent for every day use. Eternity is a leisurely casual day wear cologne, simple, but does the trick. Like other green and fresh floral “linen” scents to spray on yourself or your shirts after a shower, frags like Gray Flannel and Green Irish Tweed.
Starts off with citruses of which the bergamot orange and lemon are noticeably sharp and accentuated, fresh and strong like splashing aftershave with a citrusy scent. The citruses embrace florals (lily of the valley, orange blossom, geranium) so one might call this a more masculine sort of citrus-floral. In addition there are some slightly unisex touches like juniper berry which is sweet, jasmine and orange blossom (usually florals found in women’s perfumes) The lavender top note is distinctive and hard to miss. I personally like lavender scents and this is a lavender with other stuff going on to keep it interesting and less like a feminine old lady lavender. Instead the lavender is spiced up with coriander and sage, lots of sage, green notes, vetiver, perhaps some patchouli, and rosewood not to mention the sandalwood in the dry notes at the base. Due to the lavender at the top and sandalwood in the base, by definition this is a fougere. Fougeres are harder to come by these days so for me Eternity represents a very well-composed men’s aromatic fougeres when one wants to smell clean and fresh without making a statement, without overt spices or musk, leather or tobacco. The dry notes are very green, mossy, woodsy.
For practical purposes, CK Eternity is a fragrance that makes a good introduction to men’s colognes for younger boys who are still in school in much the same way that Davidoff Cool Water makes a good intro to cologne. It’s not aquatic or gourmand or a musk, it’s just straight up clean fresh floral with the air of a laundry detergent and green aromatic vetiver and sage. The dry down gets muskier and woodsier with a pronounced sandalwood. The whole thing turns into a green bar of soap at the end. I’d also like to add that this is a very youthful scent at least when compared to the more mature Ralph Lauren Polo Green.
Eternity is safe & subtle, quite innocent and inoffensive so it makes a good choice of cologne to wear to job interviews or to your place of employment. It’s a spring and summer cologne. Most of us have fond memories of CK Eternity. It’s nice to see that it continues to sell in stores even if it’s not a Macy’s and you find it at Walmart. It’s a cheapie but goodie. Some have called it unisex and I had a girlfriend who wore the men’s version (and not the Sophia Grojsman woman’s version) but I find that the musk and woods and deep green notes are masculine and too strong for women. A refreshing scent that has never faded from our memories or our lives.

    Blind buy for this fragrance.

I had first tried this fragrance when I had received a holiday sampler that included this as well as Obsession, Escape, and CK One. I liked them all pretty well, but this one was probably my third favorite behind Obsession and CK One. This one is kind of a sweet and sour cologne. On the days when it maintains it’s sweetness it lasts longer and on days when it gets sour it fades out faster. It’s a decent fragrance and considering you can get a small bottle at Walmart for under $25 it’s worth a try. Personally I like Obsession and Ck One best from the Calvin Klein lineup because I can get them to last longer on me.

Luckily older bottles are aren’t too difficult to find. I bought a bottle of the current formulation a while back and found it very challenging to wear. If you haven’t worn the vintage then the new stuff is fine, but if you’re like me and are used to the old stuff the current formulation simply won’t do.

If any gentleman has to sum up his life, he has to mention HS, graduation, HS sweet heart, University, hangover, first job, first car….. and CK Eternity in that line because almost everyone at one point in their late teens or early 20s had this essence. This literally was my cologne for few years in a raw when I hit 20s.
I remember wearing Eternity at summer BBQ parties and remembered when a few times ladies had asked the name of the cologne (to buy for their hubbies). A very mesmerizing cologne in the 90s and early 2000s. CK has a history of running itself into the ground and Eternity is the classic cologne that suffered the most.
Modern Eternity formula does not smell as good as the one in 90s. However, Eternity is still a good purchase if you’re looking for a decent cologne. A great Spring and Summer cologne but can be worn in colder months too.
Eternity is the opposite of Obsession: one is Summer and the other is Winter; Eternity is ideally for people below middle age while Obsession is for people who have hit the middle age.
    Projection: 6/10
    Longevity: 5/10
    Smell (now): 7/10 (before 8.5/10)

When I first heard about Eternity, it was only associated with Men of high rank and importance in my corner of the world.
Like most young men I wanted to be automatically high ranking and important even if only in my mind so I hit the shops on the hunt and bingo! there it was! baaah!…. too expensive! (No sample bottles! No testers!)
What to do? Oh Yes! buy an imposter whose gonna know? So I buy Tahoe by parfums de coeur designer imposters. What you might call a “training” version of Eternity…. Hello! I see other mock interpretations of Obsession, Polo Sport etc as well…gotta have ’em all! I did have them all! what a waste! How I lacked patience those early days…Oh well, the past is the past.
Surprisingly, based on my knowledge of the imposter, I was later able to recognize the scent of the original at a gathering of high ranking and important people (Don’t ask how I got invited). The mere waft of the original was a mountain where the imposter was an ant hill. Now I had to have the original there was no going back!
Fast forward a few more years, finally purchased Eternity and baaaah! too late! too late! what a shame! what I got was a hack by Coty that was so disappointing, I probably would have exchanged it for a 10ml decant of the original. The other important high ranking guys had moved on. I had to move on as well.
Lesson: We know by now when buying an oldie that’s still in production, its obviously going to be a hack(reformulation). Accordingly, my expectations have become tailored towards the reality that its probably going to be a really bad remix, no getting excited about re-living the glory days.

Wore eternity back in 1997, Back when I took public transit and did the ladies love it! The re formulation is unbearable , Cheep / ripoff all together a disappointment ,
I regret not buying about 3 bottles of the original.
    For the original,
    Scent 10/10
    Silage 10/10
    Long lasting 10/10.
    Thanks,

fresh fragrant probably because the smell opening sourced from lavender and mandarin orange, but the smell is different from Versace Dreamer.
FYI, this perfume does not have cap or the sprayer is also the cap which is the same as Versace Dreamer.

Nice lemony citrus aromatic cologne. This is a classic and is unique. One of my favorites, given to my by an old GF and have loved it since.

I think this is a mature fragrance that can only be worn by a mature guy. I tried to wear this and I had multiple people tell me I smell like someone’s grandfather and this was just from wearing it once after that I have it away.

I love it and wear it just about every day. its a fresh, clean, ”youthful” and lemon citrus scent. for me this projects strongly for 2 – 2 and half hours then fades a bit but can definitely still be smelled for at least another 3 hours.
It can also be worn in just about any situation at any time of the year, Its very versatile.
    STATS:
    Scent – 8.5/10
    Silage/projection – 7/10
    Versatility – 9/10
    Longevity – 6.5/10
Weather – all year round, summer or winter
    Compliments – 7/10
Age – I personally think any age, I could see teenagers/younger crowd wearing this but it would also fit in the 40+ age group

This is a well balanced fougere. A classic in my opinion. It is refined and laid back almost neutral. You can smell almost all the notes yet it feels a little bit synthetic at the start, but once it settles, it becomes woodsy and spicy with a comforting citrusy accord. This is a totally inoffensive scent and one you can wear everywhere, anytime given its calm character. The price is also very good.

This was my first cologne I have ever bought. I like it because it smells like a good typical cologne. From here im going to branch into more flowery/vanilla colognes.
