Above all is a confession: yes, I like to shock and challenge myself and had some money to spare. So I blind bought it oversea from Buenos-Aires. What I expected is something really wild and sauvage with stinky animalic facet, but it turned out to be a sharp, smoky and a bitty fruity (due to the ambrette accord) with a strange vibe of fruity esters (like banana in its very minimal form). I live in east Asia so I can instantiate this scent quickly: it’s sweet mashed red bean (koshi-an if you’re familiar with Japanese dessert) on a heated plastic plate. Kinda edgy but not too radiant with a considerable longevity, so it’s my favorite business scent for now.
I haven’t read the Borges poem yet so I can’t poetically describe not even speculate what’s the correlation between the title and the scent. Still cool though.

On a paper strip, it smells devastating and deeply disturbing and on the skin it is still both of see things though marginally less so. I love me an animalic stinker, but this I found to be antisocial and not enormously pleasant but it is one of those distinctive scents that if it ticks your boxes you will not be able to live without it but a blind buy? I’m not encouraging it unless you like to shock and challenge yourself and have a lot of money to spare. A colleague said ‘normally your perfumes smell of old ladies or poo but this is quite nice’ but he also said the same thing about Muscs Koublai Khan, adding that MKK smelt clean and fresh. So is he the best person to ask?
