Blind buy. Bad purchase it reminds me of Calvin Klein reveal or euphoria intense. It has a candy vibe. But it’s sooo soft. Not worth buying if you like to smell yourself when you apply it

On my swap list. So far every lacoste i have tried is just not my kind of thing.I like this better then white and prefer green to this. This is a decent freshie with a twist but i blind bought and its not my thing.

To start off, this is the first and only Lacoste fragrance I have tried and I do enjoy this fragrance. While the main notes are watermelon and chocolate, I will tell you that the scent is not too sweet and does smell masculine. I am impressed with the longevity as it will last six plus hours.
Would I buy this again? While I do like this fragrance, I will say that is somewhat of a basic cologne that you would expect from a retail store brand. So with that being said I would probably not buy it again. Yet, if asked I would say that it is a quality product and not priced bad.
    The Gents score ( 7/10 )

Husband and I tested this one day and really liked it and put it on the buy list. Picked up a 100ml for $35 at the Fragrance Outlet as a BOGO %50 off. I just sprayed on my wrist to test, on me its honestly pretty subdued compared to how amazing it smells on my Husband. On him I really get the sweetness/darkness of the base notes with Lavender/Basil top. The verbena adds a greenness that tempers everything, and the watermelon just comes off as that ozonic after the rain freshness/taste. I have to advise anyone interested in Lacoste Fragrances they honestly wont do much for you silage and performance wise if you a sedentary. My Husband hardly ever sits still, so the Lacoste line up really shines on him.

Off all the 3 Lacostes I owned (Red,White) this is the unique one. I never had a perfume with a watermelon before although I live in a tropic country. But, I hope the watermelon empowered the chocolate more.
    7/10 for me.

Lacoste Eau de L.12.12. Noir. Who has love chocolate and watermelon must love this fragrance! I think it suitable to ladies.

love it! am a big fan of the brand because of its clothing line but this is the only scent that caught my attention and made me want to try out their perfumes.
true story: while i was paying a bill, the cashier even apologized that she got distracted because of how good i smell.

Totally love this! Only thing I’d want to see improved is projection. Opening surprisingly had a lot of tonka in it for me (I’m guessing I’m getting this from the Cashmeran and the other base note that’s very musky/vanilla – the two things I always end up associating with tonka in fragrances), which I wasn’t expecting based on reviews. The watermelon focus edged into a really fresh scent – verbena always gives me a citrusy vibe since it is commonly paired with lemon, and my skin tends to pick up even the smallest iota of lavender in a fragrance, so those come through as well. The chocolate is not gourmand as it is almost earthy: I get a sweetness from the watermelon/chocolate combo, sure, but it’s not cloying. Ultimately, a more unique summer fragrance, and one that I want to add to my collection for sure.

A real solid fragrance from Lacoste and this 1 took me by surprise !
This has a really fresh, sporty transparent opening that eventually dries down to a nicely blended scent of watermelon, chocolate and lavender. This scent although kind of generic is a scent that really stuck out to me and watermelon, chocolate, and lavender doesn’t sound like it goes together but Lacoste definitely made it work. 1 thing that did disappoint me was I was hoping the chocolate in this was richer but instead its kind of similar to a dark transparent musk. With that said, it’s still a very nice scent and I really enjoy this scent and I’d say it’s my 2nd favorite scent from Lacoste with my favorite being Lacoste essential Sport. ( Also if you liked Dark Temptation from Axe and wanted to upgrade this would be a perfect scent)
Performance was only average— it lasts 3-6 hours and projects average as well…
Also a downside to this is in the mid I get some weird note that reminds me of a taco truck….lol. But in the drydown that goes away.
Overall rating—7.5 out of 10 ! Unique scent that I will definitely wear when I want a freshie that’s a little different but I can only give this a like as it’s not 1 of my all time favs.

How is the performance compared to YSL L’Homme?

Mmmml the drydown smells heavenly good i still can smell it on ly neck after 6 hours the smell is so sexy and masculine better for younger guys

Watermelon? Chocolate? On MY skin, all I smell is bitter, bitter, bitter. It reminds me a little bit of Mechant Loup or Esprit du Tigre. I have NO idea which note(s) causes this bitterness, but it overwhelms the entire fragrance. At least Mechant Loup and Esprit du Tigre seem better quality than this mess. DISLIKE.

The first spray, Lacoste fragrance in the show ozone fragrant thick and watermelon. in the middle phase, fragrant chocolate smell is very warm, but the watermelon did not leave. In the last phase of fragrant brown and amber begin to be felt. This perfume is suitable for night. and during the day only 40%.

  14. :

I get a fruity woodsy scent with a slightly salty ending. Too simular to the excellent lacoste blanc to own both so I see this as a more progressive adult version. Where is the Noir extreme?? Never the less I like this as an evening summer scent and despite its misleading packaging I really like it as a fruity refreshing sort of cologne. Half hour projection and 3/4 hours skin scent.

Watermelon… Staying power is good. I am reminded of a less costly perfume which has the same smell called Ebony by Maryaj. Both evolve different when left on…hopefully..cuz now i have both

  16. :

Beautiful start. Then I got confused with the notes, and after about 4 hours it disappeared completely, not only from my skin, but from the paper. I really wanted to buy it today, but in my opinion I stay with lacoste white. Nevertheless, I could give it another try eventually.

First impression off a sample. Reading the notes I was expecting to like this one more.. Chocolate watermelon lavender… Sounded nice! But instead its just a fresh spicy fragrance with a very ozonic feel.. I don’t even know what Ozonic means but that is what comes to my mind. Its like the chemicals in an aquatic but without the salty marine kind of edge. Its an alright smell, very generic and nothing really pops out. If I didn’t read the note line up I probably wouldn’t even have picked out the watermelon or chocolate. I just smell a lot of florals as it dries down and that ozone note.
Performance seems lacking, but didn’t give it a full rating
Scent ill give it a 3/5 for now

All of these types of Lacoste smell aweful to me. Granted, I didn’t smell any on my skin but nothing from the testing strips convinced me that it would be a wise idea anyway. I smelled just about every solid color (not the transparent bottles) in this line up and they smell subpar to just bad in my opinion. Maybe I will grow to like them at some point but not now.

  20. :

I bought it for my oldest sun (18 years old) and it was a good choice. Maybe the longevity is the weekness of this perfum otherwise is a good choice with watermelon notes very present.

Eau de Lacoste L.12.12. Noir is a really good one from lactose especially the lavender , Tonka beans ( cause the funny thing is that all I can detect but at the end it has a pleasant smell.
P.S. For me the black and red is the best among the collection.

  22. :

    4 out of 5

This fragrance has a very fresh opening of watermelon which was a nice surprise given that (at the time) it was my first application, then after a while it drifted through to the lavender (which I liked) was very sweet and not too harsh on the nose. When the dark chocolate came out towards the end of this fragrance is when I loved it the most if I’m honest.
Longevity and projection was 2-3 hours on me, this is why I used Lacoste L.12.12. Noir very sparingly during the spring and summer months, as I wasn’t sure where to place it if it was going to go in my list of rotation fragrances that I already owned, purchase this if you happen to adore watermelon, lavender and dark chocolate together.
Overall, this was a very pleasant and well blended fragrance to me, one that I would recommend that you try out for yourselves. It is unique in that it doesn’t come across as every other generic fragrance out there on the store shelves. So, give this little gem a chance.

In my collection of about 300 bottles I have many classic colognes from the past, and this new fougere reminds me of many legendary men’s fragrances at once. Fancy official notes aside, this smells like a modern take on the idea of classic men’s fougere – that’s why it “feels both familiar and safe”, as @perfumecritic writes below. Try it without prejudice, it’s actually better than many other current releases. Longevity? Depends on skin, I guess, as my sample performed quite well in this regard.

  24. :

    4 out of 5

I really enjoy this fragrance and it is very versatile, however longetivity is about 2 hours on my skin. Definately not worth buying unless you want to keep applying constantly.

A fresh cute fragrance… the mixture of watermelon and fresh spicy make a pleasant sensual scent. I really loved it.
    moderate sillage and weak longevity

this fragrance has a lovely watermelon opening which settles down to woody lavender notes ,it is a very pleasant fresh fragrance ideal for work after sport and shower.lacks the power of some fragrances in this line eg. Lacoste L.12.12 Rouge but nevertheless i love it and i am going to use it as a spring/summer refresher.
i have Lacoste white on its way and green and yellow on my wish list ,i am sure they will all show a unique slant making them worth buying blind

    Not bad at all
mainly Watermelon and dark chocolate make a good scent. It project a little bit but not a bad thing. Sporty, Very safe for work casual use and dates. Perfect for spring, summer and fall but I think not for the winter.
    2-3 sprays
    4 to 7 hours
    6.5/10
    I would buy it anyway

  29. :

To be sincere, this smells really good. The watermelon opening is attractive and brings some originality.
But the originality stops there. After that it turns into a nice fragrance. With notes that resemble many other perfumes.
With the name ‘noir’ I was expecting something dark and heavy. But this is more like a sport scent. Wood and spices are light and the verbena last for a while.
It’s a safe fragrance, the ones that you can give as a gift without any risk, like Eternity or CK One.

Smelled this on a guy at work today and immediately asked him what he was wearing. This is absolutely gorgeous aftershave. It’s spicy, rich and sexy, definitely with a hint of dark chocolate, but we’re talking 80% cocoa, not sickly sweet stuff here. I would never have considered trying Lacoste fragrances. How stupid am I? Want to try them all now! Buying this for husband!

Every now and again, if they don’t seem busy, I will ask one of the SA’s at Sephora to recommend a good fragrance and make me a sample. The last time this happened, one of them said that Lacoste Black was her favorite.
It opened up synthetic though pleasant, dried to a mid that was entirely generic and moved onward to a drydown that was quite nice.
You can find this for $40 which is reasonable. I don’t see anything special here but its not awful.
    Smell = 72
    Sillage = 67 about 2 hours
Performance = 76 – I got about 4 hours but used a sample and with 2 extra sprays probably could have got 6.
I will give it 5 bonus points for price / value.
My final grade is going to be 73.
I don’t think this is anything special and I probably would never buy it. Women that like sweet smelling fragrances might like it and give it some added value but there are others that do the same thing better. The watermelon chocolate is somewhat unique but it comes across synthetic while the rest of the fragrance is generic. The drydown is nice but who really buy fragrances hoping for nice drydowns ?
Nothing special here but it might appeal slightly to a select few watermelon chocolate lovers and those who have girlfriends with a sweet tooth.
Its not something that I would buy.

I like the overall smell – a good mix of Watermelon & Chocolate which you can identify only after few minutes of applying. The only issue with this frag is it does not long last !! Longevity is a huge failure.
    I’ll rate this 5/10

  33. :

    4 out of 5

It’s a fresh watermelon and lavender scent. The chocolate and patch is very light and faintly noticeable. As mentioned, the performance is poor in every category. It does smell nice but not muck kick in it at all. Elegance is my fav from Lacoste.

  34. :

I don’t think that mixing Choclate and Watermelon as top notes could lead to good fragrance … Sorry I don’t like it 3/10

    swoon, that’s for you:
    blind buy, also failed!
I smell Drakkar Noir and than I smell this and shake my head in disagree! What’s the comparision?? Well, both, to me, have a wet-fresh character that distinguish them among others, but differently of what occus to Drakkar, the Lacoste has a kind of synthetic, a bit cloying smell, that sometimes resembles a cleaning product I smelled before.
White is the most interesting of this line, and even so is not much of a thing! :/

  36. :

A dual dimensional frag which is mostly cocoa warm and sweet on the skin…
    I applied 6 heavy sprays
0 – 5 mins – This comes out all “men’s changing rooms, with the watermelon and a familar La Coste sporty vibe
5 mins – 2 hours -1 foot projection – Wow, what a change, to a warm, cocoa-herbal night time frag! The frags does not become black, deep and chic; instead the bottle should have been brown as it stays moderately complex, warm, cosy and cuddly. The cocoa is the heart of this frag which projects with a green patchouli and gives this an almost mid mature masculine vibe – ages 30 -45, yet on the skin you get cocoa and sweetness which could be feminine, ages 18 – 30
2 hours – 3.5 hours – 5 inch projection with sillage trails up to 1 foot
3.5 hours – 5 hours – 3.5 inch projection. So sweet and smooth on the skin, very nice
5 hours – 7 hours. Close to skin
This frag is not bad at all, however at this point in time – May 2104 – the cost of this does not really represent value for money – approx £40 for 100 ML – ,this needs to be halved, perhaps £25 for 100 ml tops. This frag may be an alternative to CK Euphoria, also JPG Kokoriko for £25 for 100 ML gives a better smell, however if you are looking for Cocoa & patchouli then I recommend that your try L’instant Guerlian pour homme and also try the extreme version – for £15 extra you can get a 75ML of pure beauty
I had Lacoste Blue and White bottle. IMHO Lacoste blue projects and lasts the best of the series whilst White is the best smell
This was marketted with Noir on the bottle, however now the bottle just has intense, why the change? People may buy when they see the word intense
    Not bad

Fragrance snobs need to seriously get off their soap box. This fragrance is very nice. As far as being boring and generic- name one fragrance that smells like this. I can’t think of one… It’s not the most amazing thing I’ve ever smelt, but it’s not bad either. Solid summer fragrance that DOES NOT smell like everything else..

  38. :

I bought the Diesel Fuel For life and Lacoste L.12.12 Noir, at the same time, I thought this fragrance was going to be something great, something rich and gourmand, but not more than a synthetic fragrance and short longevity, projection is also poor.
I prefer the Diesel Fuel For Life, is a thousand times better.

  39. :

Ew this was bought for me by my brother. This is super ungrateful of me but this thing smells disgusting. It’s like smelling a hot chilli pepper or something. It’s so spicy and bitter and gross. Je puke

  40. :

Starts off sweet but not cake sweet, which is great. Evolves into something more dark and woody. I do believe there is an inscense note there. This one has great versatility it seems but I don’t think I’d weat it in summer. I do like this but not as well as Lacoste Blanc.
    7.5/10 overall

Another cookie cutter type sporty fragrance that reminds me of Hugo by Hugo Boss. -yawn-
It’s pleasant but uninspiring. I’d be happier owning the duffel bag it comes with than the fragrance if I were a man. As a woman, I would say you smell nice if asked but it wouldn’t make me want to ask “Well now, what are YOU wearing?”.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

I have this.. Longetivity a huge problem… Projection lasts 1 hour max…. Smells great apart from the above issues

Lacoste Noir? Noir? Seriously? Lacoste Noir is so cheap and synthetic and the title “Noir” has nothing to do with the fragrance at all. The black bottle is the only appealing attribute. It’s just a reproduction of the scented water designer companies are releasing every year and calling “mens fragrances”. I’m absolutely tired of all the reformulations destroying the classic and worthy because all we have left are the banal productions in the designer market that are constantly released every month it seems. The designer market is dead. I can think of only a handful of releases in the last few years or so that truly were inspirational but 99% of the designer fragrance market is pointless. It’s so tragic.
A department store handed me a vial and I sprayed it on my hand. I just lowered my head in disappointment. Immediately I smelled a cheaper more synthetic rendition of Lacoste Essential with a poorly composed chocolate note. Digging deeper into the scent, it smells like a sweeter and less woodier version of Exceptional Because You Are. Yes, that cheap crap that fragrancenet.com pushes on all its customers! Lasting power was 3 hours and it might as well not have projected for the performance it gave.
I have no idea why most designer companies have produced absolute garbage in the last years but it’s sickening to think that the average consumer spends their hard earned money on such terrible concoctions. I want to make it clear that this scent doesn’t smell bad or disgusting by any means. In fact, the average consumer might really enjoy it. My issue is that there is no longer quality in these products nor is there any creativity. If we owned most fragrances released in the last few years, honestly, our entire collection would smell the same. I’m not a snob, even in the slightest. Just look at my collection or reviews! I own/give credit to all types of fragrances! Take what I say with a grain of salt I suppose. Maybe I’m just going off on a rant and venting and I chose Lacoste Noir as my target. Blah!

Great cologne for day-time wear. Smells similar to white. Highly recommended!

  46. :

It’s your typical baseline stereotypically “masculine” cologne that you’re going to see numerous bottles of, lining the mens’ counter….but with chocolate.
I’ll admit, I normally HATE mainstream mens’ fragrances, because they all smell the same…like a primordial ooze of herbs, wood, and leather, all catering to the same archetypal stereotype of what a man should be.
Sorry, but I don’t like smelling like trees or furniture.
But this one does actually have something interesting there, with the chocolate note. Unfortunately, in the end, it reminds me a ton of that Axe Dark Temptation body spray…awkwardly sweet and aromatic at the same time.

  47. :

    3 out of 5

Just smelled it today, it smell nothing like chocolate or watermelon! :/

  48. :

    3 out of 5

Don’t understand the opposition on here. I’m not a fan of Lacoste scents whatsoever. I think I might’ve liked the white one a bit but I much prefer Noir. I’ve noticed some comments criticizing it for not being a dark scent but I have to disagree somewhat. Its dark, but not heavy. Its light (projection was nonexistent on me but it did last a good couple of hours very very close to the skin) but still dark. I think its elegant for a moderate-class cologne. I recommend it.

  49. :

    5 out of 5

I don’t like the usual trendy clean/fresh notes I’m detecting; I’ve smelled them way too often and so it doesn’t interest me here. I agree with the reviewer who stated that the notes don’t resemble the smell – they don’t to me, either.
    “Noir?” How is this noir?

  50. :

    3 out of 5

I’m really curious to hear the combination of watermelon and chocolate

  51. :

    3 out of 5

The notes of this fragrance had me intrigued. I thought perhaps Noir would break away from the signature Lacoste cleanness. Fact of the matter is, it doesn’t.
What I mostly get from Noir is watermelon, basil and some dusty cocoa. It actually smells quite similar to White somehow. I do like White because it’s very simple, clean and fluffy but I didn’t expect a fragrance with Noir in the name to evoke the same impression.
So Noir smells “nice” like all the other Lacoste fragrances. I would recommend it if you are looking for a watermelon fragrance that doesn’t smell like Jolly Ranchers or something to wear casually through the spring & summer.

  52. :

    3 out of 5

Noir tries to be White’s complement and I think that it gets it but not in a “dark” way. It’s just a little bit intense and not as well balanced as I supposed. The watermelon-verbena combo gives the fragrance an acid-strawberry-ish character from top to drydown. Cashmere wood, coumarin and patchouli smooth this sensation but that’s all. White is more classy

  53. :

Good stuff the black is the best out of the L12.12. Collection followed by the white I just bought the black haven’t worn it yet but i sprayed it on my wrist and it lasted for 3 or 4 hours its a nice light scent its perfect for the summer or nice spring and fall days

  54. :

    3 out of 5

Black and White are the best offerings in the L.12.12 lineup, hands down. Actually, the black is a smoother yet more intense version of the white. Relaxing scent. Easy to wear. And . . . best of all, there’s no musk anywhere to be found!!!

  55. :

    5 out of 5

Bahh. Unimpressed. Nothing much going on here. The notes didn’t resemble the smell. Kind of synthetic. Projection is moderate. Didn’t last long on my skin. I don’t recommend this.
Just because I didn’t like this fragrance it doesn’t mean you wont.
    Try it (I guess).

  56. :

I have the whole collection of L.12.12.by Lacoste & i finished the red & i find it really good as i wrote my review , now im using the green which i also find it good but not as good as Red & up on these notes i think this one is going 2 be Good beside im a CHOCOHOLIC !!!
P.S. i got a Frag as a gift called ( L.12.12 by Lacoste BLACK SPORT ) it’s the same design of the NOIR but the crocodile is painted in white not stitched , is there is any one Owen this one & by the way it smells fruity ( blackberry ) !!!!!

Smelled this yesterday @ Macy’s.It’s very smooth and sensual. Definitely darker compared to the other Lacoste offerings. I didn’t find any of the recent Lacoste fragrances interesting, but I would really recommend trying this one.

  58. :

    3 out of 5

I just bought this from my local mall and WOW!!!
It is similar to the White L.12.12. but darker.
It doesnt have that sour opening but rather a smooth melon note.
This is a great fragrance and could be a everyday scent or a work scent.
I recommend this and dont let people on here bash it. Its great
    9/10.

  59. :

    3 out of 5

While the notes look fantastic, I am hesitant to get too excited as both my white and red fragrances have such fleeting longevity and projection that I’m not even sure it would be worth it…
Edit: Tested it yesterday, two firm sprays to back of hand, and just like its siblings, Noir feels both familiar/safe albeit very pleasant, and only lasted about two hours on me 🙁 Will have to start using these with unscented body oil or lotion…
