My most recent pick-up from Kyse. Had a sample of this and really enjoyed, so I decided to buy a full bottle. Sprayed it last night on my hand (one spray) before bed, and my lady said “what do you have on? It smells like candy.) I really dig it honestly. Nice job Terry!

Creamy caramel made even creamier by the coconut milk and a floral soft honey… I thankfully don’t smell any musk and only get a lemon whisper here and there.
It lasts all day with a heavy sillage. I’m simply in love with this elixir, it’s full bottle worthy.

I found this to be light and buttery. Not as deep and caramel/burnt sugar as I wanted.

A comforting, sweet, simple scent. It begins with a scent reminiscent of the scent of lemon curd – creamy and lemony but not too tart like lemon candies or juice. The lemon fades quickly. The prevailing scent for the next 6-8 hours is a sort of syrup + butter scent. Smells like pancake toppings. There is a teeny teeny tiny amount of beeswax (not enough for a beeswax lover like me). It’s a nice scent though. Smells good, and I love the buttery notes. I just like my gourmands to be complex, so I’m unlikely to buy.

This perfume is insane, it is SO GOOD. I recently ordered a small bottle off of their site, and I am going to have to order a humongous one ASAP. I would call this a true gourmand, it’s nothing complex/dark, this is all sweetness.
On me this begins as a strongish caramel corn, with a heavy butter scent around it. Sugar and caramel and some salty goodness. That sounds really off putting but it’s working for me. A lot of really sweet scents have a cloying side, this does not. It’s nice and clear, if that makes sense. Sillage is great, strong enough to be noticed but not punching anyone in the face. Longevity is ok, not terrible, especially for the price point. In a way it has a strong resemblance to the bum bum cream they sell at sephora.

My third try from Kyse, Douceur Brulee seems to have garnered the most praise from the line of any that I’ve seen so far.
It’s nice mix of caramel, lemon, coconut, and beeswax, and runs the gamut from being a nice bright warm-weather-leaning fragrance to something more dark and tempting, depending on how it strikes me in the moment. Certainly a delicious gourmand, but not too artsy to be something I’d be at all uncomfortable wearing in most seasons or circumstances.
After smelling it for a bit, it occurred to me, as others have noted, that it has a strong resemblance to Kerosene Unknown Pleasures in terms of the caramel-and-citrus blend that figures so prominently in both fragrances.
Douceur Brulee is a solid performer and a more affordable alternative to Unknown Pleasures, at $52 for 60ml vs. Kerosene’s for $140 for 100ml, and it should be tried by gourmand lovers, especially caramel lovers.

I read the Fragrantica reviews and then I eagerly poured over the Kyse website and ultimately chose 2 scents to try (including this one) plus a discovery set (#2) that contained vials of 4 different scents. They arrived today and they are all quite lovely and uniquely different. This one, the Douceur Brulee sort of reminds me of a combination caramel and lemon merengue pie on my skin (some tartness and nuts) with a new purse smell.I will know more as I continue to wear it but so far, so good! It is so exciting to see new perfumers on Fragrantica especially from my very own California! Yay! new perfumes!!

Exquisite creme brulee scent. It’s so true to life! Buttery, all-fired-up caramel at its best. The notes are in perfect harmony.
This is also the ONLY scent with Ambroxan that doesn’t hurt my brain. Overdone, it is like earwax x1,000. Here it’s just enough to add interest and, if not told, you wouldn’t know it’s there. Bravo.
Longevity and sillage are good if not great. I’d even venture to say this is a safe blind buy if you like caramel, creme brulee, buttery gourmands, or Yankee Candle’s dessert scents (seriously). The price is great. One of my new favorite houses!

Kyse is the superior ruler of gourmands in my book. This scent is so amazing. It literally smells like a croquembouche with a crunchy candy honey lemon glaze. It is so realistic but in the best possible way. The caramel in this is so buttery and caramelized at the same time. I literally smell the crunchiness of the candy part, crunchy and airy and melts on your tongue. There is also an underlying scent of beeswax but it is such a clean, delicious layer of it… if beeswax can be delicious. Out of all the notes listed I don’t get any coconut on my skin (which I am actually glad for). This is intensely sweet, but in the best possibly way. It’s skillfully teeters on the edge of being too sweet, but it never crosses over. There is nothing cloying or sticky or synthetic in this gourmand. If you love gourmands definitely give this a try. Plus the sillage and lasting power are pretty damn amazing. Can smell this on my skin the day after I spray ONE spray.

Delicious sweet buttery caramel. I’m very much in agreement with most of the positive reviews for this one. I love the Kyse butter note. It’s thick and rich and so real! And it’s very prominent in this particular fragrance, making it incredibly edible. And because it smells so edible, it’s not so much a going out scent, but it is perfect for cold, rainy-day snuggles.
Aside from the prominent sweet butter note, which remains quite strong throughout the evolution of the scent, I get a good dose of musk and ambroxan in the dry down and perhaps a bit of bitterness from the oakmoss, but all that combines to create some serious magic with that sweet butter. Sweet wearable caramel cashmere. So lush. So comforting. I love it.
One thing that I’ve greatly enjoyed across the entire Kyse range has been how true to life her fragrances are – how natural they smell and how well they replicate the foody indulgences they are meant to represent. This one is no exception. There is no synthetic Bonbon, Fancy, JUICY Gold, or whatever caramel (though I do enjoy those too :p). This is true to life sugar cooked down in a pot and caramelized to create a lovely concoction. My dad used to make caramel quite often. And he had a drink he would make with milk and caramel whenever any one of us was under the weather. It was so warming and comforting. This smells like his fresh cooking caramel and feels like his warm hugs. My dad passed away about twenty years ago, but now I have this yummy fragrance to recreate my cherished memory.

All I get is scorched caramel. Not appealing.

What a fabulous gourmand. It starts off with a buttery, burnt sugar blast and just when it could be a bit too sweet or too buttery, it dries down and the real magic happens.
The musk starts to mingle with the gourmand notes, making this so that I can’t unglue my nose from my wrist. It’s utterly addicting. I bought a large sample and immediately had to buy a full size bottle for fear of running out. I will say that it is potent, you do only need the smallest sprays and it lasts for quite a long time without needing to be reapplied, which is fantastic. I love wearing it to bed, it’s such a cozy scent. Perfect for dreary, cold Winter days. I agree with others that Terri is a delight to buy from. She ships fast and includes handwritten notes. I’ve also been sampling her other scents and they’re all done so well…gourmands with such interesting twists! I’m sure I’ll be buying more soon.

This perfume is so delicious. The first time i smelled it i smelled lots of butter, carmel and beeswax. Then i bought a bottle and when i first spray it it smells just like salted hot carmel popcorn! I love it. I actually love using it under white florals because it adds a creamy buttery quality to the florals. After 10 minutes the popcorn fades and I’m left smelling milky sweet coconut and beezwax. The butter is still there and the butter note stays all the way to the very end. I’ve never smelled such realistic butter in a perfume before. This is so amazing. High quality, beautifully blended. It’s very long lasting and sillage is moderate to soft.

The base here lists this as an oriental but I would call this a gourmand — and how! Honey, caramel, and butter. It smells like candy. Very sweet with monster sillage and longevity. My sweet tooth was raging all day!

This is my second favourite from Kyse Perfumes after Oui Plus, which is a chocolate scent.
This is most definitely creme brulee, with the burnt, salty aspect turned up. Like a crispy, browned crust on top of the caramelly buttery brulee. Since it’s winter and Christmas time here in Sweden, I sometimes walk by stalls on the street selling roasted, caramelized almonds. The scent is spot on. Really delicious and realistic! I must say I detect no lemon at all, though I wouldn’t mind. I imagine this as a sibling to Prada Candy with caramel and balsamic benzoin, as well as cousin to L’Occitane Immortelle de Corse with honey, immortelle and benzoin.
The greatest thing is that this is really low priced for how wonderful it is, and that goes for all perfumes from this brand. I strongly recommend this, it’s my favourite caramel.

Buttery coconut caramel with a dash of lemon to keep it from too much. Terri does gourmands extremely well. She dares to go all in on a gourmand, dives to the depths and richness of a scent, while other mainstream offerings mildly hint or not as rich in their presentation.
This is what I WISHED Gold Sugar to be like. Of course, there are no florals here, but the creme brulee coconut is just superior. Excellent caramel gourmand, and layers well. Perfect for the cold winters to put a smile on your face. I have hundreds of bottles in my collection, so I can choose from a lot, but Im now a big fan of Kyse. Thank you Terri.
Layer with Oui Plus for the decadent chocolate caramel fudge cookie scent ever.

What a DELICIOUS DELIGHT this fragrance is. It’s the perfect fall/winter fragrance that makes you feel warm when it’s surrounding you. Honestly this fragrance stays on my skin for 12+ and I smell it all day long.
The first spray you can definitely smell the lemon, which only last for about 4 minutes and then it go straight into the butter/caramel cookie smell and stays that way for the duration of its life, which seems like forever and I never tire of its delicious Aroma. Definitely backup bottle worthy. I love Kyse fragrances and will definitely try some of her other scents according to the notes provided by fragrantica.

  19. :

    3 out of 5

Such a delicious scent! It’s sweet without being overwhelming. There is the perfect amount of savory attributes to keep the caramel from being sticky. Smells like going to a carnival during the fall while orange-colored leaves are falling all around – soft, cozy sweater included.
At first opening, I immediately get a Creme Brûlée with the toasted, caramelized crust. I actually just ate one 3 days ago so I can easily make the comparison.
Soon after the Creme Brûlée, the more savory, buttery notes come through and bring out the caramel popcorn vibe. This is a smell I didn’t think I would like. Smelling like caramel popcorn never really sounded too appealing to me, but now I want to bathe myself in it!
After a couple of hours, on me, the Creme Brûlée custard with traces of vanilla bean and a caramel coating (no longer toasted) shines through and remains til the end.
    I’m in love!
The scent lasts very long on my clothes, over 12 hours, but half as long on skin. It also sits close, but I’m not complaining. So yummy!

  20. :

This is STILL the best warm caramel scent EVER.

  21. :

    5 out of 5

Can’t stop sniffing my wrist! It is a very warm, deep, sweet caramel with a slight burnt note that the lemon cuts into and blends with beautifully. Something about the beeswax is purifying and naturally sweet, and adds to the ‘home-baked with good ingredients and lots of love’ scent. It’s like a buttery lemon square with a little coconut and lots of caramel drizzled on top. Immediate warmth and wanting to get closer and inhale more deeply, so that you can taste it. You almost can! My husband commented positively when he got a few feet from me in the room it was applied in, and it lasted overnight on my skin.
If you love gourmands, you will want to bathe in this. If you hate caramel, this is not for you, unless you want to know what caramel should smell like in a perfume. This is a very true and sweet caramel. For anyone who’s been searching, really, try this and you might stop looking.
A definite hug promoter, makes you want to close your eyes and get lost in it. Love this one and can’t wait to try the rest of the line!

JessT32, thank you for your review! I, too, have been searching for the right caramel fragrance. We are currently wearing the same perfume,Shalimar Parfum Initial, which lists caramel, but I don’t get it until hours after I have sprayed. I find it helpful to see when I have similar fragrance preferences to someone else. It saves me time and money on my hunt. This is definitely going on my want list! 😀

This is a sweet scent. It does smell like a mixture of caramel, butter, coconut and all sweet and yummy things. It’s sweet but not cloying. I just love this. Sillage is moderate but the longevity is amazing. I cant stop smelling my arm when i have this on.

    * I am reposting this review because I must have gotten signed out while typing it so it showed up as Guest*
I just received my 15ml bottle of this in the mail today and after wearing it for the past 4 hours I have say that I think I’m in love! This fragrance is absolutely heavenly! It is everything I wanted Omnia Profumo’s Madera to be and more! I’ve been on the hunt for an amazing caramel fragrance and I think I’ve finally found it. Douceur Brulee is a delightful mix of caramel, butter (in the best way possible), lemon and a touch of beeswax. I don’t pick up any of the coconut/coconut milk, thank goodness as coconut tends to take over on my skin and smother the other notes. This is precisely the reason I didn’t care for Madera, it smelled like nothing but coconut cream on me. The beeswax adds a toasty edge to the fragrance that I’m really enjoying. As someone already mentioned this has an airiness to it that I believe makes it suitable for warmer weather. This is definitely a unisex scent suitable for anyone who loves to smell like a scrumptious dessert! I’m so very impressed with this and am excited to try more from Kyse Perfumes. I received samples of Oui Plus! and Confit de Rose with my order and I can’t wait to test them out, I’m sure they will be just as good, Terri seems to have an amazing talent for creating delicious gourmands!

Terri’s Douceur Brulee smells like buttered popcorn that was drizzled with sweet caramel and has just a hint of lemon. I call this my movie theater fragrance because this is exactly what the concession stands smell like. I got a 30ml bottle just because this is such a fun scent and a little nostalgic smelling for me since it brings back good memories!

This stuff is addictive. I have also tried Shay & blue Salt Caramel and that is way too sickly. Over sugared buttery popcorn! Yuk. This on the other hand is perfect. Yes, there is caramel, butter and lemon which sounds a recipe for a sickly sweet mess but no its not. I love the smell of a crunchy creme topping and this is spot on. Maybe its the beeswax, coconut or amber that stop it tipping over into sicklyville. You might think that youve got to be a lover of gourmand to love this but even if you dont think its your thing I would still advise trying it. It leaves the likes of Jessica Simpsons Fancy and Omnia Profuma Madera sweety numbers behind with its delicious sophistication.

Wonderful indulgent, savory and rich fragrance. No “perfumy” accord to this at all. It smells very buttery, caramellic and a melted milky rich type scent. Imagine buttery caramelized popcorn soaked in a little but of toffee and sugar with some lemon zest sitting by it. This fragrance is definitely for gourmand lovers. I let my husband take a wif and he immediately said “mmm you smell good, like something foody”. It smells very natural as if caramel and butter melted in your skin. I love it.
The longevity is amazing. Had it in for a whole day and I would get whiffs of it all day.
Sillage is still something im figuring out being that I’ve only owned this for a day.
The scent is. 10/10, but again you have to be a gourmand lover.
Terri is a wonderful perfumier and very polite. I see big things in store for her and she has found a steady customer with me.

Soft, creamy and light as air.
This has a lovely creme brulee smell that you’d think would make it a warming, wintry scent, but I actually find it so airy that it’s perfect for summer. It’s like everything has been whipped and spun so expertly that it’s gone fluffy.
The beeswax is gorgeous and what little coconut there is is very restrained, which is nice as coconut tends to end up the dominant note in whatever perfume its in.
Is this a touch aquatic? Somehow, yes, although for the life of me, I can’t figure out why.
    Very impressive.

Oh my, this is lovely!!! Warm and buttery caramel, so rich! I do wish I sensed more lemon. I’m finding it too rich but like someone mentioned below, it would be lovely on a cold winter’s night in front of the fireplace as you doze or read a good book. I’m testing it on a cool and rainy summer’s day, will try again when the frost hits. Despite the lack of wearability, I find the butter note so incredibly unique and well done, bravo!

A Gourmand lovers dream come true!
    This is Heaven.
I smell caramel corn,Creme Brûlée custard and vanilla beans…

Douceur Brulee: I’m back in Maui, where the air is moist, sweet, fragranced with the natural flowers all around. Just finished a decadent lobster dinner and they’ve left the drawn butter on the table…let’s face it, it’s also on the table cloth, on my fingers, and my face…and they present dessert, this brown sugar or molasses masterpiece, glazed with…salted caramel? Or is that just the ocean I’m hearing in the background?

This is gorgeously yummy! I was delighted to try this on my skin. Occasionally I have that moment where I try something new and I am just like YES. I had that with this.
This is what I wanted kerosene’s unknown pleasures to smell like. Unknown pleasures is beautiful in its own right, but I wanted even MORE gourmand facets which is what we see with terri’s simpler and beautiful composition. I am smelling a delicious lemon custard ice cream cone with a hint of toasty coconut and beeswax. The composition is very warm, a bit hazy/fuzzy, and very delectable. Best of all this is a composition that lasts.
I am in the midst of trying all of terri’s perfume and this is my 2nd favorite. My first favorite being oui plus and my third confit de rose.

  33. :

    3 out of 5

Many other people have said this on Perfumes by Terri reviews but it bears repeating: There’s definitely a base that Terri uses in all her delicious smelling creations that makes you recognize this is a Terri perfume immediately. Like a signature in olfactory form. The best way I can personally describe it is like a fantasy edible perfumed amber… If that makes any sense at all.
With that out of the way, the caramel-lemon (and a gingerbread man soaked in rum note I smell that isn’t listed…) combo added on top really does turn this into a very cozy fall/winter scent. Especially on a rainy or snowy day in front of the fireplace. If you want to wear it outside, I see it as more of a daytime scent for going on a Starbucks run with your friend or going shopping or going out to get a mani/pedi. Just casual girly stuff.
I can totally see this being an amazing holiday themed gourmand scented candle too.
Final note: very strong sillage, spray sparingly.

Douceur Brulee is a pure, mouth-watering, sugar-sweet-gourmand-amber, total comfort scent. Probably not the kind of fragrance I would wear to go out in, but rather for staying in and just chilling at home. The perfect antidote to a cold, grey, and gloomy day. Currently wearing to bed the sample I received from Terri’s delicious discovery packs. Think I may just need a full bottle of this for the upcoming winter, or just as a mood lifter for depressing days!
The interview by Stefanie Jaehn (Perfumes by Terri: – A Nutritionist with a heart for Gourmand lovers) summed Douceur Brulee up perfectly —
“Lemon and sweet cream, a match made in heaven. Douceur Brulee is like liquid sunshine and sure to brighten any day, no matter how dark or rough it may be, this will make you smile.
Lemon, a little orange, buttery, milky vanilla and a dollop of caramel. Delicious! The longer it is on your skin, the more glorious it gets. There’s an ambery skin note that lasts literally ages on my skin—ambroxan, yes, but with all the delicious lemon-cream icing. What baffles me most, is Douceur Brulee’s dynamic. It constantly changes on my skin and keeps me interested all the time and longing for more.”

I think those who like this scent will also like her new scent oui plus. It smells kinda like chocolate and graham crackers (smores). So yummy!! My sister says this smells like celery? Anyone else get that, I dont.
This perfume has lasted 24 hours on me! I am actually going to scrub it off because I want to wear something else so who knows how long this would have lasted on me. LOVE IT!

  36. :

A definite gourmand vibe to this, but the sweetness isn’t overwhelming. The lemon, musk, absolute oakmoss, and ambroxon give a warm and welcoming aura to the caramel. beeswax and butter. Nicely done. All the notes are evident but work together well.

  37. :

    One heavenly, mouth-watering gourmand.
This is one uniform aroma of the following buffet spread:
Salty, buttered rolls; Warm, and fresh from the oven
Sweet, frosted lemon cookies. And honey-drenched baklava pastries dipped in caramel sauce.
One scent that’s more intriguing and enjoyable, vs. “I want to smell like this.” Certainly something savory as opposed to sweet and candied (The drydown is a BIT sweeter, but still nothing overly caramelized!) Solely gourmand notes here, no “perfumey” background, which I adore.
For fans of Serge Luten’s Jeaux de Peau, or Un Bois Vanille, for sure!
Longevity –> A good few hours.
Sillage –> Seems to project a good foot or two. Really impressive for the affordable price! Excited to check out other scents in this range.

This is a lovely burnt-caramel-and-butter dessert fragrance, the scent I chose to wear to my family Thanksgiving this year. It lies close to my skin when daubed on, yet it is radiant–gives me a delectable gourmand glow that seems perfect for fall and winter. I ordered the sampler pack of Perfumes by Terri and liked most of them, but this was the one that inspired my husband to grab my hand, pull me closer and give my wrist a second sniff, something very very rare indeed, which automatically makes a fragrance full-bottle worthy. Fortunately for me, these bottles are ridiculously affordable. I might go back through her line and pick up a few more of my favorites for my birthday.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

I’m a bit envious of those whom this reminds of desserts and winter fires; I can easily see how it would, and it’s a lovely image. But unfortunately my first impression of Douceur Brûlée was of an unwholesome mix of crème brûlée and barbecue flavoured potato chips, and now I can’t get rid of that idea when wearing it. Surprisingly (after that description), I don’t dislike it by any means, it’s original and very much edible – it’s just not quite what I was hoping for looking at those lovely notes.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

I had high hopes based on the notes. What I got (and two others who tested it) was unpleasant. Acrid burnt sugar, a sharp stale nut aroma, and what I can only describe as the smell of dried out old “barn wood” all at the same time. Completely linear and one-dimentional start to finish. And very strong.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

Notes listed: Lemon, Burnt Caramel, Butter, Oakmoss, Beeswax Absolute, Ambroxan, Coconut Milk, Musk
I ordered the largest possible bottle I can because in my opinion, this is a holy grail gourmand for me. I have gone nuts over many perfumes and while I love them to pieces, they are not THE ONE I would bring to a deserted island if I had to choose. Seriously though, who has to ever choose such a thing? If I were traveling and got stuck on an island, I’d probably have my top 15 perfumes with me anyway. But if you’re going to make me choose, then I will pick this one.
The notes I easily pick up are rich, buttery caramel, butter, a very light, soft lemon, and a teeny bit of coconut milk. The coconut is not at all suntan lotion, as I am not fan of that. It is soft coconut milk. There is another ingredient in there that I didn’t recognize that is sending me over the edge. I believe it’s the beeswax. It’s a note that brings back some kind of memories, but not in your typical vintage perfumey way.
It is something that was in a perfume I once smelled many years ago and of course I don’t know what perfume it was. My best friend’s mom wore it. That was so many years ago, so I can’t ask her. It’s not necessarily gourmand to my nose, nor is it animalic, powdery, chypre, aldehydic or anything typically associated with older perfumes. It’s just different. It’s gorgeous and creates a solid yet ethereal base to the other candy and gourmand notes. It’s that little bit of magic fairy dust and/or unicorn horns that make this one raise the bar on gourmands.
I wore this to work for three days (unheard of!) and kept flipping my hair around so I could catch the delicious breeze. All day long I could smell this so for longevity I give it a high rating. I was dabbing a lot, not spraying, so I think it will be even more powerful. Sillage is good, I’d say 3 feet. So don’t expect everyone to smell you in a room 25 feet away (like Angel), it’s more subdued, but people will smell it. Also, I live in a sub tropical climate and it might as well be the Caribbean. It’s hot and humid year round except for a few months. I’ve worn this outside running errands and I did get very hot. It worked beautifully, and that makes me extremely happy!
This is definitely unisex as long as you’re a gourmand lover. The rich buttery smell of caramel could work on either sex, in my opinion.
There were other gourmand perfumes that failed me, like Salt Caramel. I had very high expectations and all I got was a 30 second blast of caramel and then something screechy that made me run to scrub. This one smells like I expected SC to smell and I am SO happy Terri nailed it! And as far as I’m concerned, she did it better than Shay and Blue. She knocked it right out of the park!

Douceur Brulee EDP, this is another great fragrance from Terri’s line, it’s a really delicious and edible smelling gourmand, I get some Browned Caramel, Butter and Coconut, I know that butter note sounds odd but don’t let that turn you off at all, it really works very well in this fragrance, It’s a very creamy, rich and slightly sweet, it reminds me of Serge Lutens Jeux De Peau, it has that sort of bakery, baked bread with melted butter smell to it, the browned caramel gives it some darkness and bitterness, and the coconut makes it milky and creamy, what I love most about Terri’s fragrances is that they all have some sort of twist, they are not your typical sweet or fruity fragrance, they all have an edge to them which I love, this would be great for the fall and winter I get good projection and average longevity.
