Description

In the summer of 2014 Jean Paul Gaultier is launching a new version of his signature and ultra-popular perfume Classique from 1993.

Francis Kurkdjian is the one “renovating” this perfume, not wanting it to lose its identity and powdery-floral character, but rather wanting to give it a new “twist” and modern interpretation. Classique Intense thus consists of two separate units: 40% of the fragrance is the original creation, and 60% are new, added components.

The new composition is described as a vivacious, intensive, oriental and solar, containing notes of tiare, pomegranate and gourmand accords at the top, with the heart of orange blossom, rose and jasmine and the base of patchouli and vanilla.

It is available in bottles of 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Summer test, a couple sprays on inner arm.
Quite intoxicating in a sweet way.
    Nutty, sweet, deep, Vanille?
Can’t speak to flowers, prehaps they make the depth and roundedness? I’m not super keen on original Classique and never really sought out.
Good lasting power, if it wasn’t a rip off price I would cinsider it

Indeed, while not the same, this perfume has strong similarities with Elie Saab In White. They share that floral-ambery combination with a touch of patchouli. I would probably even go so far as to say you don’t need both. But test which one you prefer.
Now what concerns the Essence de parfum version of Classique, i find it very different from Intense version. They are only similar in vanilla-orange flower department, but i don’t think it’s safe to presume, that if you like one you will like the other. To my nose they are completely different scents. Essence is more cheerful and sparkly with tangerine and ginger, while beeing sweet. Intense is very warm and ambery to my nose.
While i’m head over heels with the Essence flanker, the Intense is more like “hm, let’s see if we can get along”.

I was hesitant to purchase this beauty five months ago, but I got a good offer and bought it immediately!
I didn’t reach for it in winter, feeling it’s more suited for spring and summer, and during the last 2 months I used it so frequently for nights out and special family meetings!
I find it somehow “ gourmandy-ish” scent, somehow similar to elie Saab maybe more complex, and creamier, super sweet, it’s all about tiare and vanilla, so bright and cheerful fragrance.
I do enjoy wearing it, even though its not my typical preference to go with this kind of fragrances ‘full of details and full of character, super sweet and gourmand’, I guess it will take me so long to finish my bottle, and if it wasn’t limited edition I guess I wouldn’t repurchase it, but I don’t regret buying it, I enjoy every drop out of it, and so happy to have this gorgeous bottle it in my collection.

Probably much better than Classique edT.
Sweet. The good in the perfume is the sweetness, it’s slightly toffee/caramel kind.
I don’t like this. Also the Classique, the basic, is a crazy mix.
Not heavy. Skin scent is as clear after 6 hours as it was after 1 hour.

Tiare at it’s best ! so sensual and feminine! I get tiare, vanilla, a little bit of jasmine and pomegranate!I wear it all year long.I can’t resist it.On summer months a spray less thought. This is my second favourite after Classique. Haven’t smell something similar yet.
I would say that only confident women between 23-50 can wear this.Definately not for shy and cute people. Plus: MEN LOVE IT

What a gorgeous orange blossom and vanilla! I thought Roberto Cavalli took the prize( and it’s awesome as well) but this,,,oh my. Intense is an understatement ❤️❤️ Heavenly….
Leans toward sharp rather than creamy. Would be most suitable for me in warmer weather!

I always come to say “ this is a nice perfume but not for me”, however when I read the reviews for one more time I keep telling myself give it a second Try!!

There is something nice after it dries down, but still overpowering, its for elder generation IMO, not for me!

This smells exactly like Coco Mademoiselle and, by extension, Armaf Club de Nuit. Maybe patchouli is too overpowering for me to smell anything else, but there it is.

I have to add on to my original review. I wore this today. At first I thought I liked the EDT better because it is less sweet. But as I wore this it developed into one of the prettiest and most clean smelling fragrances ever. The sweetness evened out. I recommend this.

This is super sweet. A lot of Kurkdjian’s fragrances remind me of each other. This reminds me of Elie Saab Resort as well as Elie Saab. They aren’t duped, just all super sweet to my nose. That doesn’t make it bad.
This is definitely one for Jasmine lovers.

I adore this perfume. Creamy vanilla & orange… yum!
I had not tested a JPG fragrance in years… the last time was my sister’s bottles of Fragile and Classique.
I was immediately brought back in time when I smelled Intense today. I can still remember loving my sisters Classique and stealing sprays from it. I loved the original back then and was equally impressed with the Intense when I smelled it today. Needless to say, I bought it!
Personally, I love it so much that I had to have it in my collection.
UnearthlyApothe: I totally get your reference to creamscicle!!!! You nailed it!!!! A lovely grown up creamsicle!!!!

Ok so this is so much nicer than the original classique. I find it softer, more floral and doesnt have that star anise smell. Highly recommend. And like all the JPG scents lasts really well on the skin.

Another amazing JPG love the bottle love the juice. This is clearly the evening version of the original. I love them both equally. This version is much deeper, bolder and richer.

the dry down is to die for. what a rich and long lasting perfume with beautiful vanilla and so erotic so sexy it is the best. My opinion… it is nicer than the other one with the lace on the bottle and i thought that it was the best until now. i also tried the Essence eau de parfum the newest, but it is too much, so i prefer the golden bottle Intense. (sorry my english are not well i know) 😀 go for it girls, it is perfection, trust me !!

Does tiare smell like grapes?? Cause I swear I smell an artificial grape aroma here. Sweet in a very bad, synthetic way, i’m so disappointed, they shouldn’t have given this the ‘Classique’ name, and it’s not intense at all. I don’t get this, and I’m not that picky when it comes to perfumes, but this is sadly a big, fat NO for me.

I tried this not long ago, out of pure curiosity. I hadn’t heard anything of it and didn’t know what it smelt like, but the body-shaped bottles of the Classique line do intrigue me. And anything with ‘intense’ in the title, which generally indicates my favourite type of perfume, the olfactory bomb, meant that I went straight for this one.
I’m pretty certain I smell this, practically everywhere.
It hit my skin, and all it was, was a massive smother of florals on my skin; all tiare and jasmine flowers and overloaded further with orange blossom and sweet vanilla. I will give it credit for being the olfactory bomb I was hoping for, because it projects like an absolute beast, but it isn’t all that long-lasting on my skin, only about five hours.
I will say, it’s lovely. It’s quite nice. But what puts me off is that I know I smell this everywhere where I live, and think that as nice as it is, I’d be sick of smelling it before even thinking of purchasing a bottle. It’s nice, very feminine and girly, so I do know plenty of people who love it, but the only real floral bomb to have ever claimed by heart is YSL’s Paris, and I think that’s how it’ll stay.

I love original Classique but this one made me nervous because I recently discovered Cavalli EDP is way too sharp for me To the point of causing sinus pain but I should have known JPG wouldn’t let me down. Cavalli needs to send his nose to JPG’s guy to learn how to properly blend orange blossom. This is AMAZING smells kinda like an orange creamsicle. Very loud orangy floral vibe but creamy not sharp at all. And that patchouli in the base… oh man beautiful. Classique Intense has great silage and I can tell the longevity will be great as well. This one is a WIN!

I tested this today, and WOW is all I can say!!
What a strong scent this is,boy it is one of the strongest scents that I have tested, and i own a lot of strong fragrances.
This is wonderfully powerful,it creates a bubble of projection that could fill a room,it will just let other people with other fragrances pale into significance!!!
I think I have found the strongest powerhouse of a perfume and I love it!!
It suits a bold personality, someone who will just sashay into a room with uber confidence, and if you don’t have the confidence, wear this,it will transform you!
I do not know if it is the vanilla, the patchouli, the rose, that fresh berries from the pomegranate or the tiare flower, but it is mixed so well that the nose will love it,and others will comment on a fragrance unlike no others they have smellt.
Strong, seductive, powerful,it will take you on a journey,as the notes morph into a whirlwind of hypnotism,it is quite narcottic!
Looking for a power piece of modern millennial fragrance…..you’ve found it here!!
    Beautiful!!

    OMG OMG OMG!
I didn’t know what to expect with this. A blind buy. I loooove the EDP (even tho it’s not my thing), and the EDT is nice. I found a tester for sale of this, and grabbed it!
DEEEEEEEELICIOUS! Nothing related to Classique that is for sure. (Classique EDT/EDP is very soapy/powder with vanilla/floral/spice)
This straight up smells like orange Pixie Stix powder candy! YUMMMMMY!!!!! It just came today, and this was a very impatient test on a tissue. I can’t wait to wear it proper!!
I also have the Essence coming. WAHOOOO!! I do think I’ll want more of this Intense. Sweet candy/gourmands are my crack!
    Happy dance!
The flowers and a bit of powder are creeping in now. Giving it less of an edible candy smell. At first this smelled like the Orange Sherbert of Dior Poison Girl EDT.
In fact, I think Poison Girl fans would like this. Very diff than JPG Classique/90s scents.
My further sniffings… this is candy sweet but not straight up candy. I get orange. Maybe it’s the pomegranate and orange blossom? It reminded me of Armani Code a bit for the orange-spice. It’s a bit powdery and creamy, but this is def a very sweet candy-like perfume. I love it, but I’m not sure how MUCH I love it. I will see how I like Essence, and how much it’s like Intense. And if they are really similar, I won’t go nuts buying back ups of Intense…. lol….
Nothing soapy here…. nothing like French makeup powder…. no relation to Classique EDT/EDP in my opinion.
I get zero patchouli, which is fine by me. This does feel “solar” actually… it’s thick and creamy but still sparkling and bright. It’s def vivacious! 🙂
I also just got Olympea Intense by Paco Rabanne, and they smell very very similar. Olympea has that slight airy salt note, which sets them apart.
My initial tissue test (2 spray) from 24 overs ago is still going strong! (The tissue is at my work desk) I am still getting a rather linear powdery orange candy- but it’s VERY pleasing, and def reminds me of Poison Girl EDT- but better sillage and potency by far! I can smell my desk area from 1-3 feet.
Yeah… Scented Monkey has these new 100ml testers for $35 and I bought 2 more (my first was from SM too). What is wrong with me???? lol…. I didn’t even wait to see how the Essence compares (since I have a 100ml of that coming too). I’m just afraid this would get discontinued or SM would sell out and I’d never find them for $35 again.
2-3 days later, this tissue test is such a soft lovely spicy orange blossom. What a winner this perfume is!

When I saw classic intense on my friends shelf I couldn’t take my eyes away.I said to her it looks very sexy and she said this perfume matches with it’s bottle and it smells very sexy too.when she spray it on me I hate it.it was sharp and cloying and smell like bug spray.a very sweet bug spray.after ten minutes I was dying with love.not like bug spray now.a very sweet and warm vanilla Jasmin and patchouli.smells very golden very delicious and very sexy.perfume of a seductress but not dark.it’s sunny.it’s very special and I can’t remember something like this.it’s not good for hot days.I must buy it and use it when I want to smell warm and sexy.longevity and sillage very good.it’s one of best perfumes I know
    10/10

Very magnetic scent, sweet and addictive. It’s sweet without being overpowering. Gourmand scent, smells delicious on skin, pure vanilla. Longlasting, 8h+, heavy sillage. I love this one!

Mmmm….a sensual mix of tiare flower, jasmine, vanilla and patchouli. This is the exotic, sexy, loud (and less classy) cousin of terracota le parfum by Guerlain. I picture a dark skinned beauty wearing this, someone like Nicole Scherzinger or Rihanna, provocative and seductive. In the drydown it reminds me a bit of Insolence but less sharp.

I love classique edp and edt so I always wanted to try this one too
Finally I received it today thanks to perfumeshoping site and this is amazing,I love it even more than original classique
I find classique intense very different with original.it’s not powdery as originals,it’s very creamy and balmy.main player is vanilla here,a warm, buttery and very sweet vanilla which is blended with a creamy combination of white florals, tiara Jasmine and orange flower while a hint of pomegranate adds fresh sparks and a very faint patchouli which give it more depth.but it’s mostly a vanilla, white floral combo.strong and sexy and sweet,it’s a real intense fragrance and definitely one for cold weather.I find it seductive and cuddly the same time, delicious and feminine and it’s golden liquid and pretty bottle is adorable
    Great longevity and sillage
    Love,love,love

I wish I felt Classique Intense this way, to me it is just a bit more flowery Classique, same good longevity (although now that I think it is a bit smaller) and sillage (also a bit less projection). I am underwhelmed by Classique and bought this because of Francis K and although I like it a bit better on my skin (unlike Poeme, which I love, Classique on my skin is a mess) it is too much like Classique to be a love, not even a real like.

  28. :

    5 out of 5

To be honest I am not a huge fan of gourmand scents. Had I known the notes in Intense would have combined to produce the sickeningly sweet accord of caramel, I would probably never have blind swapped for it. Either way, initial impressions are a cloying candy fragrance despite what the notes indicate.
Pomegranate is listed as a top note yet I can barely smell it, I also do not pick up any rose in this…however the vanilla and tiare flower are very enhanced by its patchouli neighbor. Which consequently creates a very thick syrupy caramel scent that dominates everything else, this doesn’t smell fruity or floral on my skin; in fact I am getting Prada Candy vibes. The dry down is non spectacular; it remains the ghost of its former self, very reminiscent of suntan lotion. I do feel the tiare flowers give this a very creamy texture, which warms the overall base of this perfume and makes it a great addition for those cold autumn months.
I am not sure why Jean Paul Gaultier claimed to have kept 40% of the original Classique formulation while adding 60% of the newer creations; I own Classique and this is nothing like it. In fact I feel as though Intense should have been in a class of its own. Aside from the bottle design, this shares no similarity to the original.
Overall I feel this would be a great addition if you’re really into gourmand and super intense sugary fragrances, but if you are against the smell of suntan lotion and caramel, test this first before buying.

I got this beauty in the mail today in a lovely swap with Coffee_Girl! Thanks again! It’s lovely at first spray it’s a little fruity, a bit musky(must be the patch), sweet, and warm with present vanilla! I love the house of JPG! I would also add it has a striking resemblance to Lady Million by PR and Cash by La rive but to my nose this is much nicer since I don’t really know why both of those are just a like whereas this is more likely going to be a love for me! I think the Vanilla really balances it just right! For me at least 😉

Very sexy. First time wearing it I got a very enthusiastic compliment from a male friend. Someone wrote a review saying it smells like an expensive sunscreen, I kind of agree. Hard to describe the smell just very sexy and addictive.

I love you Francis! And my name is not Claire.
Edit: Apparently nobody laughed at my joke. Oh well, referring to House of Cards in a perfume review might not be the best idea indeed, but I just couldn’t help it! 🙂 Anyway, the fragrance is gorgeous. I’ve been testing it since yesterday together with some other creations by Francis Kurkdjian and I am more and more convinced that this guy is a genius.

I love it! Spicy jasmine scent. The spicyness comes from the 40% classique original, and the 60% new formulation gives the vanilla and jasmine a greater ‘oomph’. Great longevity. I can smell it on my clothes days after I wear it

I’m usually not into gourmand and sweet perfumes, but this one is very good. Glad I have it, though I don’t wear it very often. Some of my perfumes I wear most at home, before going to bed. This is one of them, which I wear it exclusively for my own pleasure. Lovely!

I am a huge JPG fan, my signature being Classique edt, so i had high hopes for this, and i wasn’t disappointed! This is amazing!! It was a blind buy, so i was chancing it as it’s quite expensive, but i had a feeling i would love it- you gotta take risks, right…?
The jasmine and vanilla are most prominent on me, but the first spray is definitely pomegranate heavy, which settles down quite quickly. The tiare flower is a constant all the way through, but it’s the vanilla and jasmine that really shine on me. The orange blossom and patchouli sit way in the background, and i am yet to smell any rose in it at all.
It is exquisite, a truly beautiful scent, i am so in love. It has such a gentle warmth, but there is also something very sexy about it. It would be great for a date night, it’s not ‘in your face’ and doesn’t overpower. I can smell it wafting gently as i move, and the longevity is amazing… but i wouldn’t expect any less from one of JPG’s creations, they always last hours!
If you’re a fan of Alien and its flankers, i think you will love this, as they both have that familiar creamy jasmine smell. I highly recommend this, go try it, it will honestly captivate you!

I absolutely ADORE this. Creamy white floral with a hint of sweetness from the pomegranate drying down into a vanilla floral. Everything about this just works so well for me.
It was a blind buy but one of my most successful ones.
JPG has delivered once more, a beautiful edition to the Classique flankers.
    It feels sensuous!

  40. :

    5 out of 5

Pomegranate, lush juicy and tempting, white flowers given fuller bloom by vanilla, big and sweet. Gloriously unsubtle, unexpected despite what you might think, nothing else I’ve smelled smells quite like it. It is “BOOM” and “VAVAVA VOOM” for the era of CGI action and Kim Kardashian, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. It is glamorous and decadent and quite unique, other fruity florals pale in comparison to her voluptuous blatant sensuality.
There is something suggestive… perhaps a hint vaginal in the lush wet pomegranate, it hints at larger than life baroque fabulist sex with effects by Weta.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

I adore the original Classique in EDT formulation, this is certainly strong, overwhelmingly sweet and gourmand-fruity at the start, a touch smokey but way too much vanilla/pomegranate for me. I sprayed 2 hours ago and the sweetness is still overpowering my sinuses

  42. :

    5 out of 5

Oh Classique how I love thee. I own this, the original edp, edt and 2 flankers. Where I know what to expect with those, Intense is a marvelous myriad of notes. I get a different fragrance each time I wear it. Right now I am enjoying a sweet complex grape? Never a dull moment. Rich sillage and excellent longevity!
Edit, the grape must be the pomegranate, nice and juicy

  43. :

For some reason this smells aquatic to me :/ I think that could be the pomegranate and/or patchouli.. anyway it smells like a subtle sugary water. And although it smells light the projection is surprisingly good. I’m not a fan of aquatics generally though, and this is like velvety aquatic sugar :/ it’s interesting and nice, won’t offend anyone. I also get tiny hints of a masculine note, like aftershave. In the drydown I also noticed a light strawberry note

Lately I have given the Classique line a second chance. I hated the original, but the one with the X on, was quite good.
This one amazed me, it is so sweet and lovely. Full of warm vanilla, some light white floral notes and patchouli.
A warm and comforting composition that is super perfect for dark and cold winter.
This is a must try, if you hate the original!

I have never ever enjoyed JPG fragrances. I have always been annoyed by the smell. However how can you not love and admire the beautifully designed bottles….
So… one evening in August attending a hen party… one of the girls invited wore this perfume…When I figured out who this gorgeous aroma was coming from I curiously asked her what are you wearing I was so shocked when she told me it was a JPG shocked I tell you- I was like ‘Hold up!! Which one?????1 I made her be clear… as she was just saying quite nonchalantly,”oh you know the female one , the new one…” Nooo there are so many new ones which one?? I was not a fan of the other flankers but this smell!
DIVINE! Sexy, unforgettable, electric, awakening, seductively sweet indulgent, gourmand heaven and I think it is magically sensual…
I bought it….I am awaiting it’s arrival impatiently.
I asked the lady at the perfume shop to spritz this on me she sprayed once… LOL I asked if I could spray it myself and I went crazy…spraying it all over myself ha!
The compliments I received made me blush! Made me proud to smell so inviting !
Chemistry is incredible- this is incredible on me. I am in slight disbelief that I am going to own a Jean Paul Gaultier bottle….which I’ve always genuinely wanted to love….
…AND NOW I DO! whoop whoop!

  46. :

This is an absolutely gorgeous new perfume! Fresh, elegant and seductive. Why didn’t they release it with a new name and new package?
It has nothing to do with the original Gaultier classic female perfume!
Maybe it was a marketing strategy to take advantage of the Gaultier Classic’s popularity and legacy.

In 2014, Jean Paul Gaultier decided to ask for help to one of his largest contributors, when it comes to fragrances: Francis Kurkdjian. Responsible for lots of successes for the House, in a partnership that began in 1995, with the creation of the powerful Le Male, it fell to him to renew the appreciated aroma of Classique (1993), which became a symbol of the ideal of femininity in the 90’s, in addition to receiving, in about 20 years, almost 40 different versions.
On the bottle, now in Gold, the famous corset which was immortalized in Madonna’s body, during the Blond Ambition Tour, in 1990. In fact, many people do not know, but when the original fragrance was released, its name was only Jean Paul Gaultier Eau de Parfum. And, for this reason, many people dubbed it of “Madonna”, as if it was the official name of the perfume. Quickly, won an EDT version and was named Classique.
In this version, the perfumer sought inspiration in the original creation, guaranteeing that 40% of the scent was maintained, receiving 60% of modernity. It has notes of Pomegranate and Tiare flower (Tahitian gardenia), in the head; Jasmine, orange blossom and roses, in the heart; Patchouli and vanilla, in the base.
It is inside of the floral-oriental category, but on the skin worked as a floral-gourmand. From the moment it touches the skin, is intense in its fullness. In fact, to call a Gaultier perfume as “Intense” is incredibly redundant. In this case, it seems to me that is more a marketing choice than a name chosen on purpose.
The pomegranate gives a glimmer of red fruits, which blends with the floral creaminess of gardenia. The bright side of the fragrance lasts for hours and is the result of the orange blossom. After about 30 minutes, the jasmin appears with clarity, but the note that performs a real show is the vanilla, because it is noticeable since the beginning, even though strategically placed in the base of the fragrance. Is liqueur and sweet in the right proportion. Along with the note of patchouli, exudes nuances reminiscent of caramel, but is not cloying.
During the tests, it has projected absurdly, even with only one spray on each wrist. On my skin, it lasted for about 10 hours.
Women compare it with Elie Saab Intense, Alien, Euphoria, etc. What I can say is that this is the kind of perfume that men love to feel in a woman. It’s sexy, it’s addictive and it’s not nauseating.

Intense sweet jasmine/orange blossom floral, very slightly indolic to my nose.
similar to Elie Saab but no honey, not sugar-sweet in the same way…instead floral-sweet. ALMOST champagney/liqueur type sweet.

I would describe this as sweet, mature, bubblegum white floral.
It opens VERY sweet, has a similar “bubblegum/floral” to Roberto Cavalli EDP, and it only gets better from there. The dry down for me is still sweet but not as sweet as the opening, it becomes more… sensual.
I would say the mixture of Tiare, Jasmine and Vanilla makes this somewhat bright, sweet and balmy. I love Patchouli in this as it appears lightly and balances the scent without ruining it. Not a powerhouse, but strong enough (very good longevity and projection).
Oh, and this is not at all like the original, it’s less powdery, less spicy, sweeter, and more modern. I do suggest testing before buying but if you love perfumes like Roberto Cavalli Eau de Parfum I don’t see how you can dislike this. I love this even more than RC EDP.
PS- Classique Intense and Roberto Cavalli EDP do NOT smell the same. But they have similar vibes and share that balmy/sweet aspect.

I wanted to love this, but I couldn’t.
The tiare flower sours the jasmine and the rose somehow, and the brightness of the orange blossom is non-existent. What’s left is a synthetic (cheap) smell of non-descript “white flowers” that become sweetened by an unbalanced dose of “sticky” smelling vanilla.
Really a BIG misfire. Brutally drugstore.
Update: the “sticky” vanilla tones down after drydown, but the “off” note of the tiare flower stays…
It’s hard to explain, but I imagine if you could smell the bruising of flowers, or the “off” smell when they go stale, this is what they would smell like. Not a good smell obviously.

Gorgeous. A new favorite! JPG intense does remind me a bit of Elie Saab Intense, but it’s definitely different enough to be worth owning both. If you like Elie Saab (original and Intense versions) you will most likely like this one as well.
It is very sweet – maybe be too sweet for some people’s tastes, but to me it manages to be sweet while remaining bright, sparkly and refreshing. A true solar perfume, it really feels radiant and incandescent. Delicious, warm and dazzling but NOT overpowering at all. I know, I’m gushing.. this was a blind buy and I’m just so happy I took the reviews on here to heart and pulled the trigger. For some reason I wasn’t able to find this in any stores around here so had to go thru ebay.
I also received my first unprovoked compliment of the year from a total stranger while wearing this for the first time today! Which is very very rare for me. Obviously I don’t wear perfume just for the compliments, but it’s still a nice feeling and a big plus! Also, projection is *amazing* – the woman could smell me from several feet away and I hadn’t sprayed a ton on. Longevity is average. Very good value for the money.. I am already starting to worry that this is a limited edition, but I’m really hoping it is part of the permanent line up.
8.5/10, one of the better designer scents I’ve tried and certainly a
contender for best release of 2015 (we shall see what else appears..)
Edit- does anyone know if this is a limited release or if it will be a permanent addition? Please PM me if so, I am really curious and want to stock up on some backups if it is limited. Thanks 🙂

Classique Intense is my first fragrance from JPG and it will likely be my last. Not because I dislike it, but because wearing any other fragrance by Gaultier would be anticlimactic.
Normally I avoid patchouli like the plague, since it is a smell I associate with hippie incense and it doesn’t wear well on me. In Classique Intense it is delicious, and serves to enrich the fragrance rather than detract. On my skin the tiare and orange blossom combine in a heady, exotic mix; I feel like a gorgeous wahine. The vanilla isn’t clearly obvious, and the pomegranate adds a fruity note without the intrusive sharp or acidic nature of citrus. Even the jasmine is balanced. It’s a symphonic renovation by Kurkdijan.
When I first apply a fragrance, I want it to smell luscious and I want to revel in it. I found myself using Classique Intense carefully because I wanted to make it last. I have tried hundreds of fragrances and this is the first one my husband has really, REALLY liked. And as an extra confirmation, today I received an unsolicited compliment from a dear friend who said that I smelled really good. Since he is not the kind of guy to lie about anything (he’s notoriously honest) I was very pleased. It appears that even though I have never looked for a signature fragrance, one has found me.

A new favorite from JP Gaultier
I used to love wearing JP Gaultier Classique in the 90s but after a long time felt I had worn it enough and other perfumes called out to me.
This new one Intense was intrigueing and when I had my first whiff I was in love. Got a large bottle for christmas and am wearing it this past month.
Its so sensual, quite different to the original, they are both soft femine scents and sexy but this has a modern edge warmer edge.
Love the patchouli and vanilla, but they are not heavy handed, you smell the gentle flowers also and there is a lovely drydown which is at once powdery ,sexy and just the right amount of floral. A true Oriental perfume and a new favorite, cant stop wearing it.
Husband loved it and it doesnt overpower but its sexy and memorable. Just what you want in a scent.
Will stand the test of time and had just the right amount of longevity. Classic

Classique Intense is one of those pretty, sweet, ladylike, softly feminine and well-balanced perfumes that’s perfect as an everyday choice.
Sadly, on my skin, this is an absolute dud. At first, I got an unpleasant funk (that I’m presuming is patchouli) combined with some sweetness. The heart is a very synthetic vanilla scent, that settles into a dry-down of a warmer
