Aww man will always have place for this in my heart, so many memories and loved the scent, yes it smells synthetic but what fragranace house doesn’t use any at all? very pleasant and well made.. 8/10

After all these years chrome still smells exactly the same. I even find it stronger then when I had it in 2005. I admire this company for this fact I wish others would follow. I just bought another bottle for nostalgic sake and I will cherish it.

This is a decent aromatic and fresh scent, reminds me a bit of CK One and the more recent CK All a bit too. It’s a likeable and versatile fragrance imo not just for the summer. I definitely smell the pineapple, alongside the citrus and spice and it’s an enjoyable non-linear fragrance to my nose, a 90s classic that still smells very modern.
Tested alongside the current CK One, Azzaro Chrome seemed to last far longer on my skin and was certainly the stronger of the two.

Use to wear this back in high school right when this came out I was 14 at the time summer of 1996 I remember a good friend of mine that I use to skate with had this frag in his bathroom along with CK one and Hugo Boss, Cool water, etc he was the frag guy in the group I remember putting this on and the opening immediately reminded me of CK one once it dried down it smelled more masculine than CK one the drydown on CK one is more floral Chrome is more woodsy and aquatic to my nose I still to rock this sometimes actually I’m wearing it right now
Seems like the ladies love it though, definitely a must have in your collection

Not a scent for me, as it comes off about the same level synthetic as Windex. Citrus notes blast your nasal cavities, and ward off any human contact. Does have a freshness about it, though it’s so harsh, the aquatic vibe given off doesn’t overcome the painful, singed nose hairs. Smells like the 90’s, and that’s where this fragrance should have died.

What about this fragrance? Opening almost identical to the Ck One, absolute freshness. The sun, the sea, the Mediterranean beaches. Chrome reminds me of all this. A myth that since the 90s never sets and I’m sure it will never fade.

Often classified in the same department as CK One, Chrome is miles ahead from CK one, both in terms of scent originality and performance.
    Spring/summer, 15-35.

Lovely, reliable smell. It also mingles with fresh sweat quite well too. It lies somewhere between masculine and a fresh unisex scent. I would but it for myself but I gave this to an ex bf years ago and it still reminds me of him.

  9. :

Tried as a sample and smelled quite pleasant. A reasonably generic fresh feel to it, nothing really stands out but a good clean scent and ideal for the gym/office. Performance though, on me at least, is awful. Barely lasts an hour and a half on my skin before there’s hardly a trace of it. I see some comments talking about reformulation etc, this is a recent (2017 or so) bottling I presume, although being a sample there was no batch number so I can’t be 100% sure. This is also the first time I have tried it so I have no point of reference, but from the sample (which just to add is from a reputable source) this appears to be a pretty terrible performer for me and I won’t be buying a full bottle.

Definitely a classic smell, and familiar. I havent always been into scents but when I spray it, it brings back a lot of memories. I just happened to find I had a bottle laying around at home, too. Chrome just smells fresh, and clean. Sweet as well but not overpowering. Very pleasant

What can I say.. it’s a classic. Was always in my collection. Sprayed some recently and it’s too floral for me now. Especially the dry down. On my skin I’m surprised pollen didn’t form. Still an amazing scent after all these years though. Almost as classic for florals as ADG is for aquatics. I can always tell if someone’s wearing it.. can be a good or bad thing I guess. If you want a fresh floral (not out of the shower fresh) it’s a classic. Just wish it was more complex on me.

I have a 2017 bottle and I find it to be very weak. There’s light projection for 60 to 90 minutes and after that it’s a skin scent. I get 5 hours at most before it disappears. In high heat, it’s gone in a little over an hour unless you spray your shirt a few times.
From what I understand, before reformulation this was a long lasting fragrance. I’m not sure what kind of super 2017 bottle other reviewers purchased and stated it has great performance. Mine certainly doesn’t. I was very disappointed. The major fragrance houses might as well just issue air freshener if they keep reformulating these classics into obscurity.

Blind buy by my sister when I was a teenager. I still wear this fragrance on occasion, more than a decade later, although I wear it less (having discovered Terre d’Hermès does that).
For some reason, it really comes alive on my skin. Not as much as Terre d’Hermès or Lalique – Encre Noire, but it does nonetheless. Needless to say, it was my signature fragrance for years, until I widened my fragrance horizons. Now, I’m struggling to define which fragrance is my “signature.”

Any scent that contains hedione, an ingredient scientifically proven to ignite a woman’s sex drive is good by me. It lists oakmoss to boot, how do you like those apples?

  15. :

    4 out of 5

To my nose, it is quite similar to Chanel Platinum Egoiste and Salvatore Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale. I get the same bitter cold metallic freshness, even though Chrome doesn’t have lavender listed like the latter two (nor mint like Acqua Essenziale). Clean, inoffensive, simple. Blind buy safe, presuming that you like clean and fresh fragrances. And my GF liked it a lot, even though she also mistook it for a deodorant… Maybe that’s the thing — it is a modern, urban and unequivocally masculine fragrance without any presumptuousness. Maybe even a kind of “normcore” statement. A fragrance for a man of action with clear head, straightforwardness, brisk manners and lots of active energy, and not necessarily for one with hiddens depths, strange moods and seductive allusions. But overspraying makes it become an unpleasantly bitter synthetic mess.

I “needed” a summer/aqua fragrance, as I didn’t have one, but wasn’t sure which one to get. I checked out Davidoff Cool Water, but I felt that it was too ‘aqua/ocean’ for me (some often flankers – Cool Water United or Pacific Summer Edition were good). Aqva Amara was too fruity and bright for me, and CK Eternity Aqua was too musky for me, but good. Eventually, I decided on this Azzaro Chrome. Now wearing it and I can tell that it was a great choice it’s long lasting, not overpowering, more serious but masculine (so great for me to use at work) and I can recognise the subtle Azzaro DNA, which I love!

All I can say that I keep buying it once I finish my bottle, this is a timeless fragrance, I’m getting older & my taste is shifting towards more complex fragrances but I keep buying this one, I tried Chrome Sport & Chrome Legend, they are decent but this one is the one that I keep going back to, last for 10 plus hours, I love it.

I love this fragrance and every time I smell in the air I just get weak in the knees. So today I finally bought it I actually bought a whole set and I was really excited once I got in the car I sprayed it on and I notice I didn’t smell the same. it’s lacking that metallic O-Zone know that I love about it hopefully it’s just my nose and it will smell like I expected it to smell later on. Because to me it’s not just like CK one and not the Chrome that I know

I just bought a 2017 bottle, code MP17251. Best perfume ever, long lasting +12 hours, silage 2-3 meters, got compliments from ppl siting other side of the tables. I have 11 perfumes in my collection including Azzaro United and Pure and none doing so well as this one. Best for summer, so inoffensive and sweet for the nose. Now is in close combat with my other favorite, Bvlgari Aqua Amara. Cheers!!!

Fresh, generic, clean, classic, a must-have for summertime for any man, for a random occasion! In the mediterranean – or warm – countries this one is an absolute affordable classic, I`d say you can`t go wrong with this one whoever you are..Reminiscent of CK One, but this one is sharper, more on the masculine side, I guess there is more herbal than green citrus impression to this one. It probably won`t be the most seductive one in your collection, but it is very pleasant, and does the job when it comes to making a good impression. Big like, but not love.

This blind buy brings back my ‘90s memory. The high school day, the youthful day. Even I had never tested.
The loud of lemon well blended with Rosemary and Bergamot makes the difference when compare to CK One while the latter presence more lemony with Neroli.
The dried down is so synthetic by oakmoss and musk combination. Could makes a bit headache.

Chrome is the first cologne a guy buys himself after an ugly divorce. He’s just started dating again; a little shy, maybe socially awkward, but he’s charismatic and hungry enough to be quite sexy.
Limes and neroli on top, raw silk and alimony payments underneath.

  25. :

    5 out of 5

Azzaro Chrome has a soft aromatic and fresh clean feeling, that it’s just pleasant to smell.
Unfortunately, it has almost zero projection/sillage and it last just a couple of hours (at most) when applied in my skin. It’s incredibly disappointing, as this was supposed to be great performer.
Granted, I got the set that has 2 (to gift one) and the package was very basic + translucent, so perhaps it got exposed to sun or was an aged version? I would not know, because the online “fresh” checker instructions do not work with mine.
On the other hand, there are tons of comments about how the newer batches are nowhere as good as the previous ones, so perhaps there was a reformulation that essentially killed it.
Either way, I’m not purchasing it again.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

I gave a mini of this from 2008 or 2009 to my husband and he loved it, so he ordered the big 6.8 oz bottle. Hmm, something is different. Often when something is reformulated it becomes sharp and cold. Like the life is sucked out of it. It’s still nice, but a weaker version of it’s old self. I agree about the IFRA being the fragrance police.

  27. :

    5 out of 5

WTF another legendary fragrance reformulated. The EU and IFRA is killing this once memorable, value-based, long lasting fragrance. It’s time fragrance houses band together for a class action lawsuit against these useless agencies that only exist to embezzle money via fines and obedience of laws forced upon fragrance manufacturers and innovators at the expense of us… the consumers! WAKE UP PEOPLE!
Look, every decent person cares about the environment. However, the IFRA is nothing more than a corrupt agency making money on regulating and fining fragrance manufacturers with the expense of such enforcement passed on to taxpayers and the buyer of fragrances. It’s a scam people!
Bottom line: If you have a vintage Chrome Legend use it very sparingly. Vintage is magical. Whereas due to IFRA bogus regulations the current formulation is a weak bar of cheap soap floating in rusted metallic with no lasting impression that becomes a skin scent within an hour.
    IFRA:
    Iniquitous
    Fragrance
    Reformulation
    Assholes

I can say without a shadow of doubt that Chrome is by far the most complemented fragrance I have. Aventus doesn’t get nearly as many inquiries as Chrome. I don’t know what it is, but females love it. It’s a beautifully blended fragrance that projects well off of your skin and your clothing, giving you a fresh, airy smell. The opening is a blast of citrus(I smell a lot of neroli here)and metallic, together with jasmine. Then it it dries down into a more soapy, woody smell.
I’m sure at some point this fragrance was very mainstream, but I’m glad that for the most part, most people around me have forgotten it. I think there is a bit of bias based on the price point, as I find it’s metallic scent both better blended and less offensive than critically acclaimed scents like Silver Mountain Water.
The price point makes this a safe blind buy, but I also really recommend you buy the after shave. Possibly my favorite aftershave and not only does it also get complements, but I feel like it enhances most colognes I wear it with.

    Reformulation Alert:
Its not the same chrome i first purchased in singapore way back in 2008..Its all reformulated now and projection and longevity is no more than 2 hrs..I am so sad..That fresh metallic vibe with oakmoss is also tuned down..Maybe its the restriction on the usage of oakmoss by EU??!!

Azzaro Chrome starts off citrusy, fruity and slghtly woody or you could say spicy. The Rosemary is noticeable but in Harmony with all the other notes. I pick up Citrus but not bitter, it really works well with the Rosemary.
It is a ”simple” and ”easy” scent but nice.
    My Overall Rating is 7.5/10

  34. :

    4 out of 5

I like Chrome. People might want to take away my elite frag card for saying that, but whatever. After the initial lemon citrus, the rosemary note is really, really, really prominent on my skin. I’ve tried a lot of frags and don’t encounter a prominent rosemary note a whole lot. What’s so bad about smelling like clean, fresh rosemary?
I definitely sensed a strong metallic note initially, but not in a bad way. To me, it gives Chrome a unique character which even a lot of high-end frags lack. I had bought a 1 oz just to try it out and ended up going through it and buying another and another. My ultra-picky wife hates just about every frag with rare exception, and Chrome was one she actually liked on me. I was kind of surprised, figuring that something so inexpensive would not pass her trial with flying colors. I was wrong. Whatever the price, note profile, or hating reviews might say, Chrome just worked for me and worked great.
For those mornings where I was busy and didn’t want to think a lot about what I was going to wear, Chrome was an easy go-to. I often had a 1 oz bottle in my car, since it was small and inexpensive and I didn’t care if the heat got to it, and it just fueled the use of it. So, I might have ended up using Chrome more than my beloved Chanel, Dior, etc., higher-end bottles by default. And the performance was definitely above average, even in the heat.
To be fair, I didn’t really get 15 notes out of it, but what I got I liked. A caveat though is that it might have been the environment I lived in (a humid island where 90F was normal) combined with my body chemistry. Now that I’ve moved someplace dryer and cooler, I’m not sure that Chrome will have the same magic.
It really just goes to show that you should always try things out for yourself. Maybe the people who don’t like something and give it bad reviews live in a different environment and have a different body chemistry. Switch your scent wardrobe for the appropriate season and occasion. Maybe something that doesn’t work on others will work awesome on you. Chrome is worth checking out, particularly if you can’t afford more expensive juice. Just because something is inexpensive or even popular doesn’t mean it might not have a great unique smell for you.

AZZARO CHROME: ATRACTIVE, CLEAN, GENERAL APPEAL
Lots of notes listed, but none are discernable to my amateur nose. Instead, they go toward creating an overall effect that’s clean, light, fresh, and (in a good way) powdery. Don’t get nervous guys. Powdery in the sense that it’s fresh and airy like a talcum.
Chrome has a certain “honesty,” and a “genuineness” There’s no pretense to it.
Chrome makes me feel like I’m the best dad in the world!
True story: We’re at Walmart early this morning getting some things for some guests staying with us this weekend. I go over to the bakery section to pick up some cookies when a Walmart lady walks past. Stops. Turns around. Says: “You smell really good. What is that ?” I said “Chrome. It’s nice, and it’s cheap!” She said: “I’m getting that for my man!”
Yes! Azzaro Chrome. You can never go wrong.

While I’m at it. Probably the freshest without being too sharp frangramce out there that reminds me of summer and fresh cut grass. There has been times when the dry down turned into like a perfumy (Brittany spears perfume) type smell.. but I’m going to say that was a crazy circumstance. I kinda want to buy another bottle after buying and reminding myself how good eternity is as well.. hard to narrow these down

  37. :

This reminds me a lot of a particular moisturizing cream. I can’t quite put my finger on which brand – maybe Pond’s or even Nivea. It’s pretty clean and, to be quite frank, smells fairly unisex as well. Performance-wise you’re getting what you pay for – it’s not a monster. That’s not to say that it’s poor – it’s safe and I would be surprised if anyone vehemently disliked it. The archetypal ‘like’ scent.

  38. :

    5 out of 5

Timeless, unique, clean, fresh, you just stepped out the shower scent. Great for a gift and even better to own. The cologne that never goes wrong. Doesn’t over project, doesn’t offend anyone, probably best for warmer days, but certainly wouldn’t hurt to wear anytime. It’s like nice cars, this won’t be the fastest, or the most powerful, or the best paint job, or all the high end parts, and won’t take first place often, but this car will start every time, you won’t break down with this one, and you will always finish the race, and you will always be a contender.

wow, just wow, 22 years in the game and still kicking hard…amazing
very few frags can pull 15+ notes together and still represent it as one, strong, unquestionable character. this one does it.
even fewer frags can stick around for 20+ years and still be just as relevant as on the day of their release
frags with this long history are usually reformulated or somehow short-change us with the quality of the ingridients, or just leave one or two notes out, or dilute the whole thing all together…i have been buying this for over 15 years and never had a batch issue. sometimes when i went for 200ml bottles, they projected less, but thats a known issue with pretty much every oversized bottle.
also as a “not current” model it typically ends up in bargain bins all over the world, which makes it all the more amazing, what an absolute value champion. it never breakes the bank but always get you compliments, always.
    much respect. true legend.

This is the fragrance that got me into the world of perfume. Azzaro Chrome is a nice, light and crisp scent. Smells like creamy citrusy metal if that makes any sense at all. It’s very inoffensive, versatile and definitely great for the office. Surely a daytime fragrance, this is most definitely not party wear, as it is way too sharp and crisp. Overall, a very fresh and invigorating fragrance that is perfect to day to day use.
Azzaro Chrome has good performance in the Indian subcontinent, if sprayed indoors, stays on for about 6 to 8 hours and projects for about 4 hours. When sprayed on, others can definitely smell this one you. For my brothers living in the Indian metro cities, try buying this perfume at the Shoppers Stop or Lifestyle store near you. 50ml will probably cost you somewhere around 2500/- INR at a large retailer. This is definitely a worthy purchase.

I have to agree with Jacobbonilla’s summary below. Chrome IS a nice, crisp scent that is hard to hate, and, yes, easy with the sprayer otherwise you’ll give yourself and everyone around you a headache.
It does smell very similar to Nautica’s Voyage except this smells more flowery in the dry down (must be the jasmine). Doesn’t mean it smells more feminine, just lighter. Otherwise, they could be clones of each other…..IMO…
I read a lot of hate here on how generic it is and I can’t necessarily disagree, you do smell a lot of this out there, but, let’s be honest. Azarro has a hit on a pleasant formula that appeals to a large amount of people which is why they continue to sell their product. A lot of “innovative” scents have been discontinued because no one buys them. Perhaps it’s deemed generic, because it has been so successful rather than due to any blandness in the formulation.

  49. :

Usual summer fragrance with a fresh opening of lemon-bergamot-neroli and rosemary. The mid note is very flowery, I think the jasmie is the dominant. After the drydown I can smell sandal, musk and bit of cedar. Nothing special, but wearable, harmonic composition. You can find dozens of similar scents in the market, so I don’t like it.
    – Spring/summer scent, for daytime.
    – Sillage and longevity is slightly under the average, longevity maybe 4-5 hours

I’m a 21 year old male and bought it at Walmart when I was 15 because my dad wore the original azzaro and I thought it was Good. Chrome azzaro when I finish a bottle I keep wanting more. I wore it in high school and teachers and girls and guys loved it. Out of all my colognes which I have a lot this cologne and playboy Malibu for some reason got the most compliments. It’s not to metallic like everyone else says and it has a fresh smell but with a nice oak moss musk which makes it not unisex which is good. Overall I will always have this be a go to colgone. Also get it at target same longevity as at von maid or Macy’s.

Chrome may have had its day, but it is no longer that day. This is not a “classic” in the same terms as Kouros, Aramis, Eau Sauvage, or any other towering icon of a certain past decade. It was/is popular with a lot of guys who didn’t know what else to reach for, a safe scent to match the khaki pants/blue button down/brown loafers generic male work uniform. Is that a bad thing? No, not compared to the alternative of smelling like Axe. But please don’t refer to this as a masterpiece- it is not worthy of that appellation. This is the very essence of generic male cologne, and slightly headache inducing at that.

I missed the bus on this in it’s hayday. I was a Cool Water and Tommy freak. That said, I picked up a little 1 oz at Ross recently and I gotta say I see why it’s still a great seller. Bright and one of the most crisp fragrances there is! Dry’s down to a soapy musk that I can’t hate on. Super solid fragrance. Oh, must go easy on the trigger tho, this one has Silage for dayzzzzz if over sprayed. It’s like “who the f$!# just walked in”??!!

This is just love. Finally got around to buying another bottle. That crisp, bombastic green neroli opening with that strong oakmoss double punch! I’d almost rip the top off and drink the bottle down! Looks like a whiskey flask anyway, right?
I’m sorry, but I’d pick this over Aqua Di Geo anyday of the week and twice on Sunday if I had to pick between the two to wear everyday.

Azzaro Chrome is just a really nice warm weather fresh scent.
Pleasing, “airy,” powdery, uplifting fragrance with decent performance.
Clean and always appropriate. Does this make any sense: it conveys a sense of optimism. I know that seems odd to say, but that’s what I feel about this.
A perfect “dad” scent for dads young or not-so-young.
    Reassuring and masculine.

Stateff, couldn’t disagree with you more, azzaro is far better than nautica voyage, quality is apparent in chrome wereas nautica smells very cheap and watery, it’s too salty and actually makes me feel sick when I sprayed it, am sure 99% of the people on here will agree with me!

Azzaro Chrome is a good step up beyond Azzaro (not Chrome) which I have worn in the past. I ended up buying this at a discount store and obtained a great price on a large size bottle. I wore it to the office several times and whenever someone got within 2-3 feet of me I did get “what cologne is that you’re wearing? smells good. mmm.” i would buy it again.
seemed to last a good 6 hours.
    sillage: i’d say 7/10.
    scent: 7/10
price: 9/10- very inexpensive and decent quality for this price range.
scent is a fresh floral, clean out of the shower type scent.
totally nonoffensive meaning not super strong which puts some people off.

Sorry folks!, This perfume has been reformulated and not even close to the 90’s original!
The culprit is the weak oakmoss content i guess, probably due to some european regulations?!
Same with big brother Azzarro pour homme as well!

Sampled and never got past the opening, very synthetic smelling. I suspect it used to be called Febreeze for Home and got changed to a fragrance Pour Homme for profit.

I’m trying Chrome again. I remember wearing this briefly in the 90s when it originally came out.
It’s a sharp floral/fresh type scent, probably closer to L’eau D’Issey to me than other aquatics. It’s on the weaker side and requires more sprays than the typical EDT. It’s sort of an aggressive, slightly irritating scent when first applied but gets more soapy and smoother after it settles in. It doesn’t smell metallic to me in any stage.
It’s not terrible. It does pull in a fair amount of compliments from women. There are a lot of other fragrances that I’d rather wear however such as Nautica Voyage or Chrome Legend.

Nautica Voyage beats this in every single category. I sprayed about a fourth of my Chrome bottle and gave it away. On my skin this is extremely weak and the overall fragrance is not as deep as Voyage. No bad scent at all, don’t get me wrong, but quite disappointing at what it actually should do.

It maked me nauseous when I applied it, may be due to the metallic note which came strong on me.

Very clean fragrance. You can wear it daily or for a date. A little goes a long way. Great bang for your buck!

I used to like it in my late 20s/early 30s since it was a great spring/summer fragrance that lasted and had a refreshing, clean smell. As I’ve gotten older and can appreciate fragrances for its occasion rather maybe the price or popularity, it’s no longer a favorite and has collected a lot of dust. IMO, it’s for that young, high school, even college guy looking to smell nice and even impress. However, it’s basic and last so it’s good for a warm day and a younger fella.

This reminds me of CK One…very very similar….I dont find CK One very good…so this too is also sort of Ok..not very great …not bad either..Average: 3 out of 5.

Very inoffensive and easy to wear, and hard to overspray. To me, the whole discussion about the “metallic note” and this fragrance being “synthetic” is a little misleading; it’s not like this actually smells like metal or anything. In fact, the “metallic note” is IMO what gives Chrome its character, what makes it stand out. A unique take on the fresh, soapy category of fragrances.
It lasts a while, but I wish it projected better. Even in warmer weather, I get about 30 minutes-1 hour of projection from this and that’s about it. That’s probably what keeps Chrome from being a “love” fragrance from me, in addition to there being about a billion Chrome flankers that fill the same role while performing better.
Still, it’s aged quite well…it smells quite modern for something that was released in the mid-90s. No part of this fragrance is overdone. I’d take it over CK One any day of the week.

I wanna buy this for my guy cause I enjoy the smell, but it also reminds me of high school boys who wear way too much hair gel and american eagle cargo pants. I’m pretty sure every d-bag I’ve ever met who lives with his parents so he can afford the car payments on his convertible smells like this.
No offense to anyone who doesn’t fit this category and does wear this fragrance, lol. Sorry. Just a lot of guys where I live smell like this and do fit the stereotype. I think I’m probably smelling other colognes too, maybe not this 100% of the time, but it does seem like a very generic fresh men’s cologne/after shave, which probably has dozens of clones.
