Description

“With her previous fragrances, Jennifer bottled the essence of sun-swept coastal sands and sparkling seas, while her newest scent encompasses her California lifestyle and where she finds peace. This fragrance takes the wearer on a comforting journey from a sunset on the dazzling beaches of Malibu to the breath-taking cliffs of Joshua Tree National Park and the lush vineyards of Napa Valley. To achieve this, the scent incorporates uniquely Californian notes like Grapevine Flower, a white flower found throughout California’s wine country.”

Top notes: pink pepper, bergamot, orange blossom
Heart: jasmine, tuberose, tiare, Californian grapevine flower
Base: tonka, skin musk, teak wood

The new bottle design is sculptural, teardrop-shaped topped with a gold cap. It is available as a 30 and 50 ml of Eau de Parfum, 10 ml rollerball and a Home & Body Mist.

Chapter One was launched in 2017.

(Chapter Two is already out in store, in a smokey black bottle, same shape and size with Chapter One bottle. I’m writing my review here because Fragrantica has not updated C. Two’s page yet.
On my skin, C. Two is not a sweet scent at all. It is citrusy and woody. I’m guessing it smells like it has mandarine orange/bergamot/citrus, rose, sandal wood/cedar, musk, and maybe some tuberose/ylang ylang…Totally different scent compared to C. One.
    C. Two is very nice and warm, elegant and feminine. I like it very much although it is not anything that I haven’t smelled before. It is well blended, balanced, pleasant and enjoyable. To me, it is different and has much better lasting quality than Jen’s Luxe EDP. It is also more “classy” and “modern”. It is a non offensive scent and could be suitable for year round wear at any occasion. The sillage is soft to moderate and longevity is somewhat between weak to moderate.
    C. Two fits right in the same category of some new releases this year, such as Dior Joy…It also reminds me a little bit of KKW Body EDP…Overall, I would recommend and buy C. Two for myself later, since I already have Dior Joy and KKW Body. For scent wise, I think it is nicer and more decent than many other celebrity citrusy frags. But personally, I still prefer and adore C. One over C. Two, for the uniqueness and better projection).

To me this smells almost identical to Clinique Simply, which was sadly discontinued a few years ago. Some have commented that it smells a little like play doh. I totally agree. But, what I thought it smelled like was the plastic-y baby doll smell. Like the smell of a Cabbage Patch Doll. But also has the floral, and musk that hold it up. I really like this fragrance. It is so subtle. I think it is appropriate year round.

I barely get any tuberose, and I bought this blind because I loooove tuberose. Everything I’ve read about this scent, from PR releases, interviews and reviews from those who have worn it all talk about how lovely the Tuberose is in this composition but I’m not getting it at all. I don’t even pick up much Jasmine or tiare, I get mainly the Californian grapevine flower and I think that’s because it’s the note I’m least familiar and also least a fan of. So I guess that ruins it for me. I had high hopes but they fell flat.

This smells soooo good! Tonka bean, musk, jasmine and tuberose! Just lovely! This would be an easy to wear every day scent, definitely could be a great signature scent.
The bottle is a bit….meh. Boring. I wish it was a more classic shape!
I will definitely purchase this when I can get my hands on a good deal!

Like the reviewer below me, I definitely pick up a salty note here. A nice Summer scent. A lighter, simple and likable scent. But I definitely pick up a salt note, and really not much else, and this poofs really before I feel like I can get any dry down notes. Like other Aniston fragrances, there really no danger of over-spraying with this one (unless someone just does not care for the scent, of course). Not very long lasting. I get maybe an hour before this becomes a skin scent and within 2 hours it has completely poofed. I suppose a rollerball might be nice to take to the beach or on vacation.

WOW, this is a really beautiful fragrance!I just tested it out of curiousity because I have read good things about other JA perfumes whithout having tried any of them because they are not sold in my country.
I have loved this fragrance from the very first moment. The first spritz is strange, different, but after a couple of minutes it opens up in all its glorius salty yumminess.
In fact this is very much on the wave of several similar scents issued recently with this addictive conconction of salty vanilla, tonka beans, white flowers and coconut like Sun di Gioa or D&G Dolce Garden. This one is very particular, a little bit more unisex, VERY VERY close to TF Soleil Blanc and Maison Margiela Beach Walk but without that “Coppertone” suntan lotion note that I don’t really like.
I think that it is wearable all over the year, also in the cold weather when your are longing for the sunny days on the beach and they seem still so far away. The tonka bean is deliciously sweet and the grapevine flower gives this aromatic fruitness similar to some Caudalie scents. I also smell some saltiness although I can’t see this note in the piramide. Sillage is low to moderate and longevity is medium.
The bottle is interesting, something that in German you would call a Handschmeichler. It has this organic form without edges and angles like a drop or a pebble, it just feels good in the hand – and it is very pratical to slip into my bag to carry around. Another positive surprise is how high qulity it is: the top and the nozzle are made of brushed metal instead of cheap plastic (hello Chanel Gabrielle..!)
This is one of those fragrances that the more I use the more I love.
    Waiting now for Chapter Two…

The bottle, name and box are nothing great but the fragrance is definitely worth more that the twenty bucks I paid for it.
Clearly, someone at Jennifer’s perfume camp has been sniffing around the Tom Ford counter because this borrows lightly but definitely from TF Soliel Blanc. I have SB and if you spray them side by side TF is much stronger with more emphasis on the coconut and white flowers. Having said that, C1 is a much easier fragrance to wear. I actually prefer it because it doesn’t have the “nose burner” aspect that TF does.
Lasts for ages, is unisex and cheap. Unless you can’t stand Jennifer this is worth checking out.

The first time I wore Chapter One, I was surprised at its sweetness. That said, this is VERY easy-to-like summer-time fragrance. It cleverly manages to be relaxed and elegant at the same time! I would wear this anytime, anywhere, as long as the sun is out and creating some warmth in my environment.
I will also touch on the Tom Ford Soleil Blanc discussion: while I agree with @FireFlySF that this is not a full dupe, there is enough similarity in vibe for me to double down on Chapter One and save my dollars from being greedily gobbled by team Tom Ford.
I will also add my opinion on the packaging since it seems to be discussed a lot. I will become the minority here and say that I enjoy the shape of the bottle. It feels organic to me and while the other J. Aniston bottles evoke a wave (which I love), this one looks like a drop of water to me. I also noticed the cap is brushed metal, not plastic, and overall I think it feels more upscale than what I paid.
Additionally, if you purchase the body mist, its packaging is a huge upgrade from previous J. Aniston body mists (points for opaque bottle and quality misting mechanism).
Overall, I’m impressed and I will admit I already have a second bottle of this stashed so I can spray with abandon all summer.

Not the prettiest one in bottle design (probably looks like letter J) but I really like what’s going on inside this bottle. First spray, I smelled something as a strong peppery note but not sharp. It dried down quickly making room for the flowers to gently blossom and then ah…so soothing and comforting and enjoyable. Once in awhile, the peppery note came back with a soft touch of the friendly musk, caressing my skin and reminding me of its existence. I really, really like it as I found it so unique.
I compared it with my beloved Tom Ford Soleil Blanc and NO, they are not alike. They may share a whiff of something in common (which most perfumes nowadays tend to perform and “trick” the nose from the first few minutes). Chapter One has the signature peppery note thru and thru (must be from the Tonka Bean also) and suits perfectly for a cozy date night by the fire place, in a wood cabin somewhere in a far forest. Soleil Blanc has the creamy, smooth, and luxurious coconut scent. It offers as a cashmere shawl of comfort over the shoulder on a light sunny and breezy day somewhere on a white sand beach. They both share jasmine and tuberose…as the similar notes.
I took advantage of 20% off promotion applying on all fragrances at Kohl’s today and ordered two 1.7 oz size bottles of Chapter One on their website (free shipping, plus tax). I don’t think they even made this fragrance in 3.4 oz bottle at all.
Those two precious perfumes from Jen and Tom make me wanna pack my suitcase for a romantic vacation with my hubby 🙂

Jen previously created one of the best ‘celebrity’ fragrances of all time in my opinion with her first fragrance aka Lolavie. Lolavie smells high end and is a great dupe of the expensive and celebrity loved Child by Susan Owens. I was very impressed and surprised it wasn’t a bigger seller as it’s just fantastic and very rich. Ther flankers weren’t as good but still a nice addition. Chapter One on the other hand is a very different direction. It shares that ‘clean’ line smell that she has to a lot of her fragrances, although this is more floral and musky than anticipated. The tuberose and musk are prominent, as is the tonka bean. If you like musky tuberose fragrances with a resinous base you will like this. I will say though the bottle is surprisingly.. not very pretty. It is shaped like an internal body part and lack of labeling makes it look a bit generic and like a non descript refillable bottle. But a lot of good fragrances come in not the best packages, and vice versa. Give it a try, I’m going to keep wearing it and will update if my thoughts change.

Update: The PlayDoh/vitamin notes once this settles on my skin are intoxicating to me. I layer this with Tom Ford Soleil Blanc to stretch my dollars. Kohl’s had a $5 coupon lying right by the Aniston fragrances, which was very nice and let me get the big bottle. The set is a steal but not all stores have it. I wonder if Jen made this to copy Tom Ford because I bet she might wear TF.
    ===
I went over to Kohl’s especially for this, since Target no longer carries JA’s line. Nice clean sheets/shampoo floral with the sparkling notes making it smell like a grown-up Love’s Baby Soft, a good thing to me.
This is a weekend scent, nothing too deep, but I find I keep smelling it on my sleeve from earlier today. Agree with longetivity comments. I slathered it on shamelessly and am not getting that much an hour later. I usually go for florientals but am now thinking of at least trying the 1 oz since there was a coupon for her fragrances right in the tester area.
I am also getting a slight Play Doh note, which I really love and which makes me take notice a bit more than her other pleasant scents. Do you really think celebrities wear their own scents? I also agree with the Sun di Gioia comparison, just less coconut here and a tiny tad of woodiness on the ending.

This is absolutely a dupe of Tom Ford Soleil Blanc. It’s so close I wouldn’t be able to tell which is which by the scent alone.

I tested this at Kohls yesterday. I loved it immediately, but to me it’s very similar to Giorgio Armani Sun di Gioia, which I already have. I didn’t have high hopes for the longevity. By the time I got home I could barely smell a little floral/vanilla on my wrist.
This is still on my want list, but I’m going to wait until I can find this online at discounters like fragrancenet. Then buy a big bottle and spray it liberally like a body mist. To me it’s a light, refreshing beachy fragrance. Similar to Jennifer’s first perfume, Lolavie. I bet this would great to layer with Lolavie.

This perfume is just great, like a rich warm cashmere blanket, this perfume smells more expensive than it is. I bought the gift set from Kohl’s while it was on sale for $32, and also bought this as a gift for someone. I thought Luxe was great, but this is even better, to me Chapter One is her best perfume so far. I thought this was going to smell different, and be more floral than it is. The only thing I dislike is the opening with the pink pepper, but it goes away shortly. I feel out of all of her perfumes this is the safest one to gift. I think more people will like this perfume more than her others. I feel like this is her version of Cashmere Mist, but this has that creaminess to it, that Cashmere Mist doesn’t have. Also reminds me of A Cheerful Giver Candle Cashmere, and Yankee Candle Warm Luxe Cashmere. I feel like some people write off celebrity perfume releases, just let me tell you this is one not to be missed, one of the more mature best celebrity perfume release in awhile. This perfume is relaxed, and comforting.

Discovered, Sampled, and Purchased this fragrance all in about 15 minutes…
I found out about this new scent by Jenn in a magazine interview in September. Been looking forward to it ever since. It FINALLY launched at Kohl’s here in the US this week. My NEW favorite Jennifer Aniston fragrance, and I adore every one she’s released—and own them ALL! But “CHAPTER ONE” is like a whole new direction Jenn is taking for her scents. New bottle is sleek & simple (reminds me of JLo’s Glow bottles)…YES the scent is beachy-tropical-cali themed, BUT “C 1” is actually very different, and in an AHH-mazing way. The scent actually reminds me of these old “Hollister So Cal” frags I used to wear…it’s like them, but way better. “CHAPTER ONE” is the first official product launch in Jennifer Aniston’s new partnership with Kohl’s which will exclusively carry her upcoming lifestyle brand (much like the JLo Kohl’s Collection)…and I’m totally here for this new Jennifer Aniston Kohl’s brand. SOOO what I got was the “Chapter One” 3-piece giftset which includes 1.7EDP, Rollerball, and Home & Body Spray, and I also separately 1fl.ozEDP, and got a “Chapter One” scent candle as a free gift with purchase. I literally HAD to have it all…I kinda fell in love upon first sniff with this perfume. That doesn’t happen often anymore. Everyone should at least give this a shot, especially if you have ever liked any of Jenn’s other scents. I literally LOVE this fragrance, and Jenn did a fabulous job with this beauty. Thank you JENNIFER ANISTON & Kohl’s….”Chapter One” is #1 ! ! !

The bottle looks like the Jean Arthes line or an empty stomach. The notes sound nice.
