Recently I have made a few blind perfume buys that were duds . They were well known designer frags.
Today I was sniffing old style perfumes at the drug store . I saw Chantilly and almost did not spray it , and figured it might smell terrible. I remember seeing it many years ago. I sprayed it out of curiosity, and initially had no opinion.
A few hours later I smelled a lovely scent , very feminine , soft , and a gentle floral. I could not figure out where the smell was coming from! It took a while for me to remember that I had sprayed Chantilly on my arm hours earlier , and that the lovely smell I was enjoying was the one that I had figured would smell like hairspray or some sort of astringent smell.
This is a beautiful fragrance ! I am in shock, because it does not smell cheap at all . It smells as nice as the Gucci Flora scent I recently sampled , and it lasts much longer .I drove back to the store and bought a bottle of Chantilly because I really enjoy a soft floral that is good for any kind of day or season. It is a gentle and comforting , ladylike scent . I am so surprised how pretty this perfume is !

I wore Chantilly (not sure who made it) in high school and loved it. Was reading the many reviews and ordered some, both Dana and a vintage Houbigant off EBay. I was expecting to love the vintage and that the Dana would pale in comparison. But not so! I love them both. And the Dana is absolutely lovely. I get some spice in the dry down, almost a slight baking scent. Truly beautiful. I will order more of this….seems like all I want to wear lately! So get the vintage by all means, but do try this sparkling scent. They are very very similar, and both gorgeous.

I’m biased as I’ve always loved this scent since I first started work 40 years ago; the firm had a cosmetics brochure go round each month and I ordered this and fell in love. I love its distinct, vanilla aroma, classic and powdery and all the associations its use throughout the years brings back to me.
My partner could smell it from upstairs when I sprayed so it can be quite heavy, but once you gauge the right amount to use it settles down beautifully. I agree its not really a summer scent and I prefer to use this in autumn to winter. Lovely.

This is definitely the more wearable version of Shalimar. Shalimar can sometimes wear too smoky or sour on my skin and Chantilly has all the good aspects of Shalimar (powder, citrus, vanilla) without the bad ones. It’s very much a sophisticated baby powder sort of scent, clean and fresh and comforting.

I’m currently quite obsessed with this perfume! This is the cleaner, softer, in all seasons wearable version of Shalimar! It smells like a cross between a luxury soap and a luxury body powder, with a touch of sweet citrus notes. Also, to my nose it has almost the same fragrance of the adorable, cozy Fenjal classic body lotion!

Oh Chantilly, what happened to you?
When I was a little girl, you smelled like lemony whipped cream, so expensive-smelling and decadent.
Now you smell like wet, sour talcum powder that someone squeezed lemon juice into. And you also give me a headache right around my inner eye-sockets??
Unfortunately, I spent $15 on a new 100ml bottle of this online (fragrancenet.com) and I would feel too ashamed to even trade it with someone, it smells that bad.
Even layering it with a basic vanilla scent like Body Fantasies Vanilla doesn’t seem to help much. The lemon-talcum powder smell just shreds through the vanilla like it was nothing.
Kind of works as an air freshener though. In the air, it’s still powdery but less sour. Like bitter lemon flavored hospital air.
This latest version no longer smells anything like Shalimar so just spend the extra money and buy the real thing, if that’s what you’re after. If you’re looking for old school Chantilly, look for the older bottles or the Houbigant bottles. There’s still a surprisingly large amount of them on Ebay for pretty cheap. This bottle was a huge disappointment for me. Batch# 17035A (brand not supported by CheckFresh.)
Sorry, I hate doing bad reviews :C I gave this one 5 tries over 2 weeks to make sure and I know it’s not my nose because I’m smelling all my other perfumes just fine right now. I have a weird ache on my forehead and the spot on either side of my nose where it meets my eyes. This has happened every single time. So for that reason alone, this deserves a bad review. Sorry fans, I tried.

Just adding a quick little review: I was wearing it again today and wondering what it reminds me off… and it’s Gucci Eau de Parfum! The Gucci is a little richer, and has more depth, but Chantilly is *very* close. If you wanted to get your hands on that hard to find gem, maybe try Chantilly.

This is the powdery and woody version of Shalimar
Shalimar has more leather and incense, more smokey
this one has more woody notes and lemon, more powdery
actually, the drydown has so many similarities
i’ve decided to keep just one of them

going to paraphrase you-tuber charles gross. chantilly is a hip 90 year old woman in a fur coat, carrying an hermes bag.
it’s a dabber, not a sprayer or you’ll gas the whole room.
    good stuff.

Cauda Pavonis nailed it when comparing Chantilly to a Japanese Buddist Temple. This scent so reminds me of the scent of the incense I had to burn while preparing a Buddist person for a funeral service. This is one of the reason the Chinese clients were my favorites. That, and the chanting music, the pearl between the lips, the play money to pay off the devil, Ferragamo shoes. They funeralize like no one else.
I have the original Houbigant perfume, but I appreciate the Dana version as well. I think it is more appropriate for public wear as it’s lighter and less grandmotherly.

Lemony, powdery, sweet and spicy. Just something intriguing about this one that I can’t describe properly… as another reviewer said, Chantilly is a perfume I’ve been smelling here and there my whole life on teachers, friends, in elevators and the grocery store. It’s almost an environmental smell it is so familiar. But there is this pleasing, warming thickness to it with something tangy that is tantalizing. Definitely a comfort scent to me. The current Dana version is the only one I’ve tried.
Side note: I sought this out when I spent days trying to figure out what Avon Skin So Soft Body oil spray (I bought for mosquitos and fell for the scent-ha!) reminded me of. Layered together they are divine! Wear it at night to have nice dreams, soft skin, and no mosquitos too;)

Chantilly is one of those fragrances no one ever tires of.
Women of all ages still love this one to this this day.
Not easy for a fragrance to do.
This is one I obviously like. The fragrance is powdery
and elegant. I imagine a victorian ladies powder room in
which this is lavishly enjoyed. Has a value price as well.
Smells wonderful and the packaging is nice too.

I just received this by mail. It’s a blind buy based on the reviews here, never smelled Shalimar before. Initial spray very strong resin like & leather smell didn’t get any citrus however dry down it’s sweet powdery reminds me of tabu and a bit of spice. Very comforting powdery scent.

Sometimes you get more than what you pay for. With my first own money I offered Chantilly body lotion as a present to my Mother. Later in life I discovered how the expensive cousin Shalimar smelled on my partner. Chantilly’s quality has been consistent. The first notes are powdery. To my nose, the vanilla is more pronounced than the white flowers. A few sprays are needed if you want a lasting effect that carries through the work day. I agree with other reviewers that this is a scent potentially worn at the work place. It also adds a comforting touch to a bath tub routine. Only after a few insistent sprays does it develop an effervescent quality, which is an interesting facet of this perfume.

My lovely son got this for me at the hospital gift shop. He knows I love perfumes and I ended up enjoying this very much. It’s not one I would have picked myself( for some reason I pictured it to smell like Cashmere Bouquet soap!) but it’s very mellow and powdery. To my nose it’s almost all old fashioned ladies powder and a tiny bit of vanilla or maybe lemon. Lovely for before you go to sleep or to cheer yourself up.

I do not enjoy this one . On me , its very citrus astringent and metallic smelling. Almost like bug spray. With a powder dry down. I enjoy citrus scents, just not this one..

What a pleasant surprise! Chantilly is classified as a floral, and those tend to be the perfumes for which I feel less interest. This, however, is different.
I agree with the previous reviewer– it does give a Shalimar vibe. There is a depth to Chantilly, and the spices are what make this for me. So very beautiful!
My first impression upon spraying was “expensive”… no way one would think it comes from a drugstore! I will be purchasing a full bottle of this lovely perfume.
    P.S.
I believe this must be what the lady wore, for whom I babysitted as a teen. This had to have been her signature, and she must have worn it lavishly. I would recline on her sofa in the den watching TV all night, and it smelled incredible in there. As soon as I sprayed this, I immediately remembered those times. If only I could stick to just one fragrance, one day I could be remembered this way!

I just blind bought an edt version of Chantilly from Rite Aid. I’m absolutely in love with this fragrance. It reminds me of a softer version of Shalimar. It’s very powdery and sweet with a touch of vanilla. It reminds me of how lipstick and face powder use to smell back when they scented everything.
Chantilly is long lasting, but the sillage isn’t overwhelming. The trail is about arms length, which I think is perfect. Other people can smell it on you, but you won’t suffocate people in a crowded elevator.
This is definitely not a unisex fragrance. Chantilly is all female. Romantic and feminine it has a retro vibe even if it’s not the original 1941 version. If you only like clean, modern, fruity/floral fragrances, you won’t like Chantilly. However, if you enjoy very feminine fragrances that smell like classic perfumes, this is a fairly safe blind buy as it’s very inexpensive.

This is my 2nd review. I just cannot get enough of Chantilly. This has been my best blind buy ever and my preferred bed time fragrance every night for over 2 months, it’s got to the point where I cannot rest peacefully without it! Beyond addictive, I look forward to slipping it on with my PJs at the end of every day. I think Chantilly will soon overtake my lifelong love affair with Shalimar. An underrated gem, Chantilly is my heaven in a bottle.

It reminds me of incense that my mother would light in the house as a child. I love the warm powdery smell it has to it. I’m only 20 and it is one of my favorite scents. I would say this scent is for all ages.

I’ve never tried or smelled this fragrance before – blind bought it online at an amazing price. But almost instantly I fell like I’ve recognized it when I tried it on – and then it hit me; it reminds me of Shalimar, which my grandmother often wore. A feminine, vintage kinda fragrance. Soft and discrete, like a lace weil. The name, Chantilly, which is a French type of lace, suits it perfect, as it truly smells like a soft, thin, silky weil on your skin. Not aggressive at all, but still the scent of a powerfull, mature woman .
Smells – to me – like lemony, expensive French soap bars, but maybe it is just me dreaming away about my beloved grandmother, as she always smelled discretely of French, expensive soap bars, with or without Shalimar on top. The sandalwood and leather notes highly contributes to the soapy touch. (soapy = not in a Dove kinda soapy, screechy clean way, but more of a lemony French soap bar kind of way). Very powdery as well. Lemon or orange body talc, if that makes sense, or maybe baby powder. To me the rose stands out, and in the drydown the powder and the rose gives it a smell of old school vintage cosmetics, such as lip sticks and compacts, which often had a distinct powdery rosy smell . (I can clearly remember my grandmother’s Estée Lauder lipsticks, which had a thick, specific scent, and this reminds me of those).
A romantic, feminine, safe fragrance – vintage style, but not outdated. A true classic. Bottle and packaging is wonderfully vintage as well.

Fruity, softly spicy, powdery…and really inexpensive! What’s not to love? I find this perfume to be so comforting and feminine. It can be worn in all seasons. Suits any occasion. Sillage is soft and inoffensive. Longevity is 4 hours or so. It has an old-fashioned romantic feel to it…think of a vintage hatbox filled with pressed flowers, love letters, and embroidered handkerchiefs. This is a safe blind buy for just about anyone, because it’s so low priced, but it may not be suitable for those who like more modern or sharp scents. Avoid it if you dislike powdery fragrances.
    I love this so much.

I bought this blind to bulk up an order and to be honest I wasn’t expecting much. I have to say this was a great surprise for me. I definitely get the Shalimar vibe but it’s different. This reminds me of a very luxurious bubbly foam bath. It makes me think of something from the eighties, I think it was Badedas or Fenjal foam bath? Instant love for me. I’ve been wallowing in it for hours, Sillage is wonderful and it feels like I just got out of a long, lazy, luxurious bath. I will reserve this for cozy evenings at home. This is a great comfort scent. Longevity is moderate on me at around 4 to 5 hours.

My late beloved older sister had a big bottle of the Houbigant splash version when she was a teen. I used to sneak sprays of her perfumes and try on her makeup. Although I loved the smell of it on her, after the first try I couldn’t wear it, it gave me an asthma attack.
So seeing the Dana version in the store reminded me of her and so I had to try it. Not as strong as I remember, but the essence is still there. A little lemon vibe at first, then a fade to slightly spicy powder with a hint of vanilla. Not the “notice me!” floriental, but a very nice vintage scent. Different from what everyone else seems to wear nowdays.
I ended up buying not only the cologne, but the lotion and powder as well. Have worn it every day this past month, and still haven’t tired of it. A lady-like, sweet old fashioned scent. So it isn’t the Houbigant version. It is still a great scent. Marcella would have loved it.

I love my #1 perfect perfume Shalimar. Since I’m on a vintage kick, I tried this for $10. (I’m looking for other vintage scents that are similar to Shalimar)
Spicy/woody powdery maple syrup! Very strange/plastic at first…. but quickly I get this baked goodies smell overall. Quite strange. Like burned waffle cones? And maple syrup? I’m on the fence… the sillage (and the perfume’s spray nozzle) comes across as pure baby powder (never my thing). But there is no baby powder when whiffed up close on my tissue test.
Being that I’m loving vanilla/spicy/leather/incense vintage scents, I shamefully grabbed a HUGE Houbigant Chantilly 7.75 oz cologne off ebay. Blind, with only this Dana to decide with.
Do I like the Dana one? Sure. I can’t wait to try it on my skin. These vintage “old bookstore/antiques” scents are my comfort scents. For reading and watching old movies. 😉
This is like Shalimar mixed with the woody-ness of Mitsouko?
Ok, my co-worker/friend also agrees with burned waffle cones/maple syrup/snickerdoodle cookies. HAHA! I think someone else mentioned nugmeg- that too!
Oh and French Toast! Haha! It’s like just the French Toast/syrup of Bond #9 New Haarlem. Haha!
This properly wears a bit different on me. I am getting Shalimar (yay) mixed with New Haarlem… haha… but instead of straight up French Toast, I do get a citrus/powder/rose which makes it less foody. I’m really happy with my Dana cheapie, and I’m very excited for a vintage Chantilly cologne!

My beloved grand-mère wore the Houbigant version for years – it was very much like her – spicy, tart, warm and somehow it all worked together.
This Dana version is the tiniest shadow of the Houbigant. I’m not a reformulation snob, but this Dana starts badly. It opens with a note that smells exactly a child’s doll – plasticy and not good. It never develops that citrus/clove/vanilla that defined the original, but it does eventually start to smell like something you can very vaguely recognize as Chantilly. It’s 99% powder with some occasional clove – no lemon at all.
This one leaves me sad. It’s been diminished to nothingness.
    Edited to add:
LAYERING SUGGESTION: if you layer this with Kenzo L’Elephant it gets much closer to the Houbigant version. L’Elephant provides the missing clove and other spice notes.

  29. :

    3 out of 5

Ugh, a citrus bug spray scent. Nothing with the depth, spiciness or muskiness of Houbigant’s Chantilly. This isn’t even related. Ugh. Get a vintage Houbigant. This is drug store garbage terrible.

  30. :

    4 out of 5

I blind bought this as a set online, which contained a large 3 oz bottle of the eau de toilette, body lotion, and body powder, for less than $20. To say this fragrance is a bargain is an understatement. The more Dana fragrances I try, the more impressed I become, and Chantilly is definitely one of my favorites.
Someone else mentioned that there seem be some unlisted aldehydes, and I agree with that. Chantilly opens with a burst of effervescence and light citrus, which quickly dissapates and the soft powdery notes begin to emerge, and to me are what really defines this fragrance. The sweet powder is more reminiscent of a vintage make-up and lipstick, with roses and violets, than a baby powder smell. I find baby powder rather sickeningly sweet, and Chantilly, while sweet, is not sickening. It’s cool, comforting, definitely from another era when women wore hats and white gloves and red lipstick. Chantilly is a classic.
I reach for this often; on weekends, at bedtime, or when I’m not exactly sure what I’m in the mood for, Chantilly always brings a smile to my face. Silage is moderate, and longevity (when layered with the lotion) is 6 to 8 hours.
Chantilly isn’t the most complex or chic fragrance out there, but I think that’s the reason why it’s still in production today: it’s simple and charming in a world full of chaos. If you’re interested in classics, or just want something that will make you feel soft and feminine, (and won’t break the bank) then you should give it a try!
P.S. I don’t care much about packaging, but the champagne colored juice in the cut glass bottle is really quite pretty and stands out in my collection.

My mother wore this in the 70’s…the recent bottle I have (edt) brings back memories but surely it is not as richly scented as the original. Very powdery…actually I think she wore the powder version as well.

  32. :

This one is a scent memory. I remember that my mom had a perfume and lotion set. She hardly reached for the perfume but wore the perfumed lotion almost daily. This is what I inhaled when I wrapped my arms around her to greet her when she came home from work. This, to me, is mom.
It’s very potent: even in lotion form. Powdery, soapy, floral, slightly sweet, and energetically sharp from the leather and citrus. Paired with memories, this is the scent of motherhood to me. Tender but strong like a mother’s heart.

I have a special place in my heart reserved for Dana fragrances. They are very affordable and have a backbone, they all smell very special and carry an old-fashioned elegance.
Sometimes I forget that I have Chantilly in my collection, but then I take it out and enjoy it continuously for days. It is very calm and serene. The composition is somewhat similar to Shalimar’s: citrusy opening and powdery vanilla drydown, both are very bright, ethereal, uplifting, sparkling fragrances, but the scents are different to my nose. There is some similarity in the drydown, but Chantilly chooses another road: doesn’t have the smokiness what makes Shalimar breathtaking and a statement, it is rather powdery and very comforting, one wears this when there is no other statement to make than, “I am feeling so content because my life is where it needs to be and it is going where it needs to go”.
This is a feel-good scent for me, it smells like serenity and being loved. Having a pleasant, calm day, comfortably spending time with activities and people we enjoy, watching the bright clear blue sky from the comfort of home, no rush and absolutely no pressure of any kind. I need more of this in my life.

Having an old vintage bottle of my grand mothers from the original formulation, it gives me such warm fuzzy memories. Reminds of my grandmother the most. This is all she wore. I can see her as she was in life. Everyday, her makeup and hair was done. She wore her apron around her neck and waste as she went about her day at her home. Being the elegant house wife she was. She always smelled so good.
I find this scent to be a classic old school scent. Funny how it seems powdery, even though it’s hard to find it in the notes. It is fresh, clean, feminine, innocent and yet elegant. I have a strong fondness for this scent mostly because of the connection to my grandmother, but it surely holds its own with uniqueness and having a strong fan base to this day. Such a nice beauty indeed.

I have already reviewed the excellent vintage Chantilly from Houbigant.
Dana Chantilly is very similar, although slightly weaker and with a touch more vanilla.
It is, to me, a very powdery scent in the old-school “makeup powder” sense, although powder is not mentioned in the description. Since my partner and I enjoy that type of fragrance, this is a good thing!
There is a lovely hint of leather which adds sensuality.
Sillage and longevity are both quite good, although I would recommend a spray bottle as opposed to the splash, for the most effective application.

I have the current (Dana) version of CHANTILLY and have never experienced the original. Per the reviews, this one is quite different from and maybe not as good as the vintage formulation. Perhaps I’d like the original better if I had the chance to try it, but I have to say I like this one the way it is.
CHANTILLY opens with floral and citrus notes (on me, the dominant citrus is lemon) and then dries down to a cozy, warm, powdery-spicy fragrance that’s very nice on a chilly winter day. There are plenty of nuances here, including a hint of leather. Perhaps it’s a bit old-fashioned, but there are times when this is comforting. On me, sillage is moderate and longevity is surprisingly good. It also lingers very well on clothing.

I am on a nostalgia kick lately and had never tried this. After reading the reviews I decided to give it a try because they have little bottles for 3 dollars right now. On first spray…yuck. I couldn’t stand it, immediately something sharp and sour assaulted my nose. After about 20 minutes this settled down to a mature powder and floral that is so nice (makes me think of old time Hollywood). This is comfort and cozy and is great for a winter evening, however, I see this being good for summer as well because it is very light.

Like so many people here, I first wore this scent as a tween- maybe 11 or 12 years old. I tried a sample of it in my local Walgreens drugstore and liked it. I told my parents that I liked it and for the next 5 or 6 years I got various iterations of it from older relatives for Christmas and birthdays. Cologne, powder, body lotion, everything. If it came in Chantilly, they gave it to me. I kind of overdosed on it, to be honest. When I went away to college, I left such childish things behind. I was an adult now, dammit, and I was going to smell like one.
Fast forward almost 40 years to now. In reading through reviews here on Fragrantica, I have re-encountered several old favorites and I thought I’d check and see what folks had to say about Chantilly. I expected high levels of derision and dismissal of Chantilly as a hopelessly cheap and childish scent. Instead of dismissal I read all sorts of glowing reviews of how lovely it smells and what happy memories it evokes. My curiosity was peaked. Could this actually be a scent for grownups? Could this be a scent I might enjoy wearing again? Hmmmm…..
I started to keep an eye out for it when I was shopping. I knew that I could find it inexpensively especially now around the holidays. Last week I found a small bottle for a good price and picked it up. Yes, it was at Walgreens. I opened the package and sniffed the sprayer cautiously. Baby powder. Sweet, bland baby powder. Oh boy. Not what I was hoping for. I didn’t have the heart to try it on me for several days because I didn’t want to have my fears confirmed but I kept reading the reviews and they talked about the spicy, sandalwood base notes with hints of amber. Intriguing.
Today I tried it for the first time since the late 70’s. Although Dana may have changed the formulation since I had my Houbigant version it really smells quite lovely. Its clearly been long enough that I have only the most general memory of what it smelled like back in the day so this is close enough for me. The opening is strong and somewhat fruity but on me it dries down very quickly to a soft vanilla sandalwood with hints of smoky incense. Delicious! If this is baby powder its the most sophisticated baby powder ever. I’ve been sniffing my wrist all morning.
This scent will definitely be staying in my rotation both for nostalgia and for pure enjoyment. I also owe an apology to my younger self. All these years I thought the younger me was hopelessly naïve when it came to perfume. Turns out, younger me had pretty good taste after all.

I love this for what it is, sweet powder, not for memories. It is very comforting. It needs a little bit to settle down before the loveliness shines through. But then it stays for hours, leaving a soft delicate aura around you. So glad I decided to buy this!!!

Sometimes, when reading other perfume reviews, a humbling realization strikes in which it becomes clear that a life experience that felt unique or authentic is, in fact, quite common. Chantilly was worn by my grandmother. She would douse herself in about 50 sprays during special occasions—i. e., anytime we would visit—and then toddle around the house doing all of those wonderful grandma things.
As a child, I never understood that we were not “well off” and part of the reason for this was that my grandparents would spend the whole year saving up for Christmas to ensure that the whole family would feel special and cared for. My grandmother spent very little on herself, but she took pride in her appearance by applying makeup to her miraculously wrinkle-free skin and regularly covering her gray hair with dark brown dye from a box. She carried herself with dignity in spite of the polyester dresses and rough southern Italian accent.
As others have pointed out, the affordable Chantilly is several classics rolled into one without coming across as cheap or derivative. It opens with a heavy dose of aldehydes and lemon balanced with a sweet, spicy vanilla musk. The development on my skin, however, is disjointed as the aldehydes remain jagged and piercing next to the sweet oriental base. The lemon curdles the cloying cream as the composition falls apart.

    Fragrance Review For Chantilly Dana
Notes: Fruity notes, bergamot, neroli, citruses, spicy notes, cloves, jasmine, ylang-ylang, rose, orange blossom, leather tonka bean, musk, benzoin, oakmoss, vanilla sandalwood
This is a powerful perfume. It’s a volcano and when it erupts all kinds of amazing scents are released into the air. Chantilly is very old fashioned and outdated but that’s why I love it. This opens with citrus and neroli fresh and summery, a bit sharp. It’s probably got some unlisted aldehydes. The citrus is strong but when it disappears it’s a spicy clove scent very earthy and then becomes woodsy and mossy with oak moss. The flowers that are most noticeable include jasmine and orange blossom. The orange blossom is the biggest of the floral accords. A very lovely orange blossom. The scent is on you for a long time and when it dries down it’s got a touch of musk courtesy of leather, and some incensed benzoin, rich and aromatic, and sandalwood. The vanilla is also detectable. This is one hell of a perfume. Apply with a light touch because this scent is a beast. I love it. It’s not easy to wear and if you are confident and have the guts to wear it good for you. I love to wear this but I don’t wear it too often. It’s special and very formal. It is one of those perfumes that I refer to as my “back of the perfume closet” types. I use them very little but do enjoy wearing them the times that I wear them. I have this one way in the back of my perfume library and wear it as infrequently as Bal a Versailles. This is an aromatic and fantastic perfume created with love and with talent. This is a perfume as art. I would recommend it to vintage perfume lovers but you need to find a vial sample first and sample it before deciding to buy it. This is not a good blind buy. You have to ease into wearing it. Beautiful.

This is actually a very nice scent. Although, to my nose, it smells distinctly of lemon soap + vanilla + spices and tons of baby powder. Chantilly has a definite vintage “old fashioned” vibe. It’s comforting! But to be honest I don’t think I’d want to smell like this. Anyone under 30 I wouldn’t recommend, though if you love it, own it! It’s soft, very powdery and very “perfumey”. I’ll probably spray my bed sheets with this or give it away to my mother. Reminds me of vintage dusting powder, lace, & elegant pearls.
Edit: I really do enjoy the scent, lately I’ve been spraying my bed and pillow nearly every day since I got it. It’s powdery and musky, and slightly sweet. It’s honestly growing on me.
    Scent itself: 6.5/10
    Longevity: 4-5 hours.

Chantilly was my Mom’s signature scent. Anything that reminds me of her – especially a scent – floods my mind with so many, many happy memories. She has not passed away but is fighting terrible illness and is confined to her bed. I don’t get to spend near enough time with her and she is always on my mind and heart. This fragrance holds great power for the strong, yet very feminine ladies out there. My Mom was always so practical – she would not buy herself new shoes until the ones she had literally could no longer be worn. Even then, if I or any of my four siblings needed anything, she would go barefoot if need be to give us everything we needed. My Mom was never into makeup or jewelry. She is such a striking beauty and carries herself confidently as well as competently, yet she is also probably the most feminine woman I have ever known. The one beauty item she would use was her Chantilly. I think my Dad got it for her every Christmas as I really can’t picture her going out and buying something for herself. I don’t wear Chantilly as my chemistry rejects it. But as long as I draw breath, there will be a
