    Chance smells pretty darn good!
I love the patchouli, jasmine & iris combination. Those are the notes my nose picks up well.
It’s sexy, it’s classy, & definitely sticks around for a good 7 hours.
I’m wearing it today, it’s sunny & warm, it performs beautifully.
Next I’ll wear it on a night out. Because I know this’ll turn heads 😉

Fresh, clean, feminine, classy, elegant and lovely what more could you ask for in a fragrance? Chance to me is pepper, pineapple, patchouli heaven! I love it! It has been my signature scent easy the past decade It is so fresh, clean and modern and makes me feel confident and happy! It really does have an up beat vibe! It shines with a bubbly, citrusy sparkly personality! I couldn’t imagine ever being without it! In spring it’s my go to and lasts about an hour to two. As many of the Chanels I’ve tried over the years the staying power is not great for the price! But I still repurchase and happily reapply when needed. I prefer not to wear this in hot conditions as in warmer weather it can be a tad cloying to me personally! My Hubby loves this on me! It is one of his favourites of all my fragrances and I own many.

Chanel Chance EDP is more feminine than the EDT. The EDT also has a huge patchouli punch which the EDP lacks. The EDP is softer and more vanilla than the more powerful and ‘fresh’ EDT.

My signature for years. Chicness and sophistication in a bottle. If you like musk, well, this is the quintessential musky scent for you. Elegant and feminine without no sugary bullshit. Now this is tender, but it’s not soft. In fact, it’s a powerhouse of performance that lingers on all day. Oh, Chance, I moved on, but I really miss you. I’ll be sure to re-add you to my collection.

I was gutted to find this to be a generic, forgettable perfume. I’m a fan of no 19 but only wear it very occasionally. Instead I’ve been exploring the less mainstream fragrances and perhaps that’s the reason that this really turned me off. Additionally, the sample arrived a few days after Ex Voto by Wienerblut, which turns out to be an entirely transcendental experience. I could go into Boots to sample Chance, I’m not sure why I didn’t. My attention is solely captivated by the sublime right now and I found this gaudy and classless. Sorry! I wish I didn’t. I was expecting a great world of sophistication to appear upon first spray but it just smelled like everybody else to me….
I must add that Chance was greatly improved by a layering of Molecule 02….

A bright, sparkling opening which radiates youth and energy. The combination of musk and vanilla, however, is just a little too masculine for me. The peppery notes are very noticeable and give this fragrance a classic and mature aura. Chance is not a light, feminine perfume, but a grown-up, sophisticated and androgynous.

This just smells so darn good! Fresh, fun, and lively! I tried it long ago and couldn’t appreciate it…boy..my nose has matured!❤️ I’m really loving this warm weather too!!

@VanniGodfrey, I’ve just bought a new bottle and it’s batch 1502, it smells and performs fine to me, but if you’re unhappy, contact Chanel. Also if it’s a brand new bottle, spray several times to get the fragrance sitting in the sprayer out, I often find this helps if a new bottle smells off.

I’ve loved Chance for years: first fell in love with the EDT, bought it, then sold it because it performed like tap water on me. Then the other day I finally decided to splurge on the EDP, but when I got it home and sprayed it on my skin I was appalled… This is not the creamy, musky jasmine I adore, not even similar to the tester bottle I sprayed on my skin. It smells absolutely rancid on me. Revolting, honestly. It starts with a hideous blast of pure alcohol, then a few moments later turns into what I recognize as Chance, then 30 minutes later leaves nothing more than a sheer alcoholic smell.
I’m devastated at my horrible luck with this fragrance. Maybe I just wasn’t meant to have it. Does anybody else have a bottle from batch 1502? If so, is this the case for you as well? If not, I would advise avoiding it.

Very light – I think I’d need to spray a lot for someone else to notice I’m wearing it. The most obvious elements were musk, vanilla, and jasmine. It’s a simple scent that’s well balanced.

For me is as good as Jasmin Noir Bvulgari same kind of spicy musky floral parfum this is a Chanel and is so sophisticated and beautiful to me when I spray it first time smell of jasmine and patchouli which I like very much but also has pink pepper and vanilla not too much vanilla this parfum is not so sweet but is sexy mysterious and daring the bottle is so pretty I like to put it on my dresser table in my bedroom I think this parfum is warm and spicy and good for winter time or autumn and good for wearing for a night out dinner or social event smell very expensive classy

It starts out as a very fruity jasmine, but after half an hour turns into the same floral woody musk as Allure Homme Sport Extreme. Seriously! Obviously they’re not exactly the same, but their character is very similar. Once the heart subsides and the base takes over, however, the resemblance is totally lost.

Chance… For many years I longed to own this beauty and for two years now I finally do. I wear it for a night on the town with friends and dates with my BF. It’s also a great, sophisticated daily scent but for some reason I don’t grab it daily. I always get compliments on this, people really go nuts over it and apparently Chance and my body chemistry are made for each other! 🙂 Lasting power and sillage are still superb so no complaints.
Besides SJP Lovely people identify this with me but you know what: Once my bottle is finished I’ll probably wont (immediately) repurchase and I honestly cannot tell you why! Maybe we just need some time apart, or I’m having a perfume-identity crisis. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about No. 5 EDP…
The EDP is warm and rich in comparison to the EDT. The list here is incomplete – the EDP has the exact same list of notes only amped up to maximum volume. Opening is tart fruity with the pepper, pineapple and lemon – in the EDT the truly sparkle and stay longer, in the EDP however it quickly settles into a more dense and warm version. The vanilla, musk and patch are gorgeous here and stick with you until the wee hours in the morning. Chance is unique and different with an androgynous edge, which I love. I think I’ll just empty a few more bottles of my collection and see if we can reunite long-term 😉 I love to collect but sometimes the amount I own irritates me 😀

I had fallen in love with Chance EDT all over again recently, so I needed the EDP as well. Lol.
Chance EDP starts off with that same musky and citrus bite directly after spraying. Once it settles, it maintains the musk and citrus but the patch, floral notes, which I believe is mainly jasmine, pink pepper are all noticeable individually, but all together make chance the beauty that she is. Vanilla softens the scent, it tones down that bite. I’m in love with chance and all of its flankers.
Now, I’m comparing the EDP and the EDT. One is sprayed on each wrist. Chance EDP is balanced by the vanilla, whereas the EDT is more citrusy. They both have that bit of sweetness to them, but the EDP mainly gets that from vanilla and the EDT gets that from the pineapple and lemon.
Yet, they are certainly very similar. Chance EDP has a bit more sillage and longevity, BUT not by much. Chance EDT has very impressive longevity and sillage for an EDT. I’d say the EDP is just a bit “louder”.
Chance will always be in my collection and will always be one of my favorite scents.

Chance was my favorite for years in my 20s. I don’t understand why but now it smells harsh to me. Still pretty but the orange and spicy notes seem sharp

Chance edp it’s so much better than Coco Mademoiselle in my opinion !Modern, bright, clean soapy , classic and so Chanel!

    Bold, elegant, young and modern.
Chance EDP by Chanel is a wonderful example how a fragrance destinate to young public can be young and at the same time classy. This perfume smells rich. Smell like someone wearing expensive clothes, driving a expensive car, full of luxury travel, having a expensive life style.
I love Coco Mademoiselle, but for me, Chance is better because the pink pepper and the powdery musky vanilla notes gives more personality and boldness to the fragrance with a beautiful jasmine allied with a clean patchouli. Floral, fruity, musky, powdery, woody in the same composition. It’s versatile, can be worn in whatever ocasion that you go and people will enjoy the sillage that emands from you.

  21. :

A bit sharp on the nose
Citrus in the background, floral, a little green
A sort of gentle acidic wood somewhere…

(English is not my mother tongue; please excuse any grammar mistakes)
This was my first CHANEL fragrance, I really liked it, I remember people would tell me it was really nice on me but they would also tell me that was “kind of mature” for my 17 year old self back then… never really cared about being too young or too old for a fragrance, there is no such thing! This is a great Jacques Polge creation, perfect for spring if you ask me.
Longevity and sillage where both great!

  23. :

Amazingly musky on me! Which you’d think would get overbearing, but it surprisingly works. It’s a deep perfume; I was so shocked to discover how it developed into a sultry scent on me. The appearance of this whole line looks so safe, but appearances are deceiving. It’s so incredibly rich! Maybe it’s just my chemistry, but this is how it unravels on my skin. Definitely a fragrance so magnificently done, that you just can’t describe it.

Chanel is a peculiar house for me. I used to love No. 5 and Coco, but they’ve since been gutted, almost in the way a taxidermied buck trophy compares to a live buck spotted in the wild. Allure has never done a thing for me, pre-reform or otherwise.Their newer releases, aimed at a younger crowd, however? Superb, really special stuff. No. 5 Eau Premiere simply cannot be beat for a clean, elegant scent. Chance EDP is similarly classy and expensive smelling, but with sex appeal. I get the comparisons to Coco Mad, which to my nose is a thinner version of Miss Dior 2012, which I prefer. Chance EDP does smell “related” to Miss Dior early on, with the citrus in the top notes and of course all the patch. BUT… the comparatively amped up musk and addition of vanilla lend such an irresistible voluptuousness! If Coco Mad and Miss Dior are models, Chance EDP is a lookalike “plus size” model. Reads more oriental than modern chypre to me. This is sophisticated and truly sexy (and I have a very hard time seeing most perfumes as sexy, even if they’re meant to be), would work year-round, perfect for a nice date, yet versatile enough to be worn to work with a more careful application. Just wonderful.

I had a coworker that wore this years ago and I probably made her feel uncomfortable as every time she came to my office, I basically swooned and asked what she was wearing. It was of course the lovely Chanel Chance. I tried it for myself a couple of years ago in the dead of winter hoping for the same delicious results only to be sorely disappointed in how it mixed with my chemistry. UGH, patchouli is a tricky one (it just grows and GROWS on me). I moved on to Coco Mademoiselle and she and I got along fabulously (oddly enough also having patch in it) in both eau de parfum and toilette versions. I would still occasionally come into contact with ladies wearing Chance and envy them.
Fast forward to June in the south with humidity galore – on a whim I sampled Chance once more one fateful evening. Within ten minutes I went back and bought a bottle! Something shifted with the elusive Chance and suddenly, in the summer, with my chemistry, this beauty bloomed! Don’t write it off on the first spritz, it takes a few minutes to work it’s magic. I have worn it exclusively and have received compliments daily since. Go figure this winter patch monster evolved into the warm, lovely thing I fell in love with on so many others. I only use one full spray on one wrist, dab them together, then dab my neck. A little goes a LONG way. So if you’re like me and smelled it on others (luckily rarely in my case) and just couldn’t make it work give it a try for late spring/early summer. It truly came “alive” for me at this time of year and now I get what all the fuss is about! SO glad I took another “chance” on this lovely creation.

This perfume smells nice and is one o my favorites by Chanel. lots of other Chanel scents smell too mature for me like it belongs on an old lady. I like this one because it’s nice and floral, but I hate patchouli!! It smells like moss to me but in this perfume, I barely notice it. I can’t really tell it’s part of the notes.

  27. :

    5 out of 5

I’ve had a Chance to wear this properly now and I still think it smells like fresh air on a cold day on the opening, that part I like but the dry down to me is just pure patchouli and nothing more on my skin. I agree with Jasmine28x it is kind of boring and doesn’t give me much emotion when I’m wearing it, unlike it’s flankers Chance eau Fraise and eau Tendre which to me are amazing (I’m yet to try Eau Vive.)
Don’t get me wrong I don’t hate this fragrance, it’s nice, especially that opening like I said but it’s definitely my least favourite of all my Chanel perfumes. My bottle is 35ml and unless I end up loving this perfume the more I wear it, I won’t repurchase once I’ve finished it, I will stick to the other gorgeous perfumes in the Chance line 🙂

Really like this one. Very fresh fragrance and not overpowering but very nice. Sweet enough but fresh enough. Just the right balance of notes. I haven’t had this for a while so can’t pick the notes exactly for anyone. I know I love it though and along with every other Chanel product, particularly the vintage Chanels 🙂

  29. :

    4 out of 5

Not a fan, luckily, I only picked up a 35 ml. I don’t hate it, but it’s not that special either. Wore it for 3 days, it did not make me happy, smells kinda boring, sharp and screechy. If I had to choose between Chance edp and Mademoiselle edp; I’d go with Mademoiselle edp. Mademoiselle is much more well-crafted and creamier!

  30. :

This might sound strange but to me this perfume smells like fresh air. On my skin it has that smell of when you step outside on a cold day and the air is smelling really fresh. It’s beautiful, not my favourite of the Chance line but I do love it.
It only arrived in the post today (I was so excited!) so can’t give it a fair review just yet but so far I’m impressed!

Amazing fragrance. It is very fresh and sophisticated, but not overbearing . My boyfriend loves this one. At first it starts off very strong and a tad masculine, but the dry down is heavenly. A truly versatile, classic fragrance. Don’t shy away from Chance because it’s popular, it smells totally different on persons. Get a sample and test it out at home on your skin. It may take some time, but you will definitely fall in love with the simplistic elegance of Chance

I wrote my first review for Chanel chance edp months ago,in late fall.it was a “meh” for me back then
Now in early spring I’m looking for musky scents, speacially soapy musky florals crazily so I decided to find my 5mil decant of chance edp.I wish I never found it,I’m totally in love now and I’m also totally broken and you know it’s very expensive.I wish it was available in smaller sizes here too because the only available size is priced 150$ which I can’t afford right now and I don’t know how to live without it!
Unlike my previous experience, patchouli and pink pepper aren’t strong now.it’s all about white musk, jasmine(and a whisper of other florals) and a touch of powdery vanilla(and something woody.maybe vetiver?)…sounds simple but it’s so well crafted and balanced that appears as a very classy, clean and cozy cloud that surrounds you gifting you conforte and confidence
It’s totally ageless while being youthful and totally timeless, good for all four season, both days and nights but I feel I will more wear it in spring, also summer nights and fall days
I have a bottle of mademoiselle edp and Coco noir and some drops left in my chance edt and although I can detect similarities between them and chance edp,I should say mademoiselle, coco noir and chance edt never went further than a simple like while I adore chance edp and see it signature material.I think what makes edp superior for me is it’s simplicity.there’s not too much notes.no fruits and citruses so musky vanilla can show up better and ground patchouli and florals.so patchouli doesn’t appear sharp or too much here.it’s exactly the right amount of it to anchor a tad powdery, a tad soapy musky florals.beatiful
Unfortunately it doesn’t last on my skin as much as I remember it to.it has more than moderate sillage during first hours and I was happily waiting for a great performance but two hours after application it was a skin scent.I can get along with such a clean, lovely skin scent if it lasts long enough on my skin but it’s whole life didn’t past 4 hours on my skin..I have to try it ither time because votes and my previous test are telling about very good longevity
Chance edp made my overall idea about this brand change, now I feel I like my other chanels more and I want to try more from this brand
Well I have to stop my habit of blindbuying cheapies and save for my precious new love, albeit if it shows better longevity in further tests
    ❤❤❤❤

it is more like Arabic scent to me. Very musky which make it heavy perfume.

  34. :

This one has a very dominant smell of grapefruit (wonder why it’s not listed here?), which I don’t like in perfumes. Boring, generic, run-of the mill citrus-white flower perfume. With this price tag you can definitely find something similar for a fraction of the price. It’s quite long lasting though, sillage is soft.
Edit: Oops, I’m sorry I think it wad the EDT that I have smelled. I will try out the EDP as well and do another update

My Husband loves it!!!! I was wearing Chance yesterday and he said: “This is bright, feminine and very very classy…” nothing more to say…he got the message.

  36. :

    4 out of 5

Ok, it’s beautiful, so elegant (chanelesque), classy in a formal way.
    But – no.
    Or better: no, thank you.
Took me some time to figure that one out: nothing happened.
It is so beautiful, but linear. On me it has very little depth and is kinda thin”.
Wearing Chance is like looking at the most beautiful statue of the woman, trully chanelesque one …but still – it is just an amazing statue, not the body.
Chance doesn’t move, shape, alter – it is the same from the beginning to the end.
Great scent for occasions that require bright, elegant, formal femininity and nothing else. But every time I wear it, I wonder if it is all about the name and not about the content, and would this fragrance be vauled differently if it was “no-name”, or “not-Chanel”.
Any way, since this was a present and it was chosen with a lot consideration and care, I gave Chanel’s Chance a chance: I put it as a mask and wear it for the some formal business occasions to hide all my enchanting powers and all my bewitching powers… but other ways – no.
    It is beautiful, but.
    * like
    * longevity: long lasting (up to 10 hours)
    * silage: moderate (arms lenght)
    * weather/season/time: All year round, but I avoid to wear it in warm weather conditions because my skin amplifies patchouly, and this scent changes then. Daytime. Semiformal to formal.

Edited to add: After about 2 hours, I’m left with a very nice scent indeed! I guess the initial opening came off very musky on me, which was intimidating, but once it settles down, I’m really liking it. It smells just right for a young professional woman. I will use up my little rollerball before passing final judgement or jumping on a full bottle, but this is a fun discovery in my perfume journey thus far.
    —————–
Musky, peppery, with a touch of that listed floral … at first, I don’t love this. I have had a tiny rollerball of Chance for years, but never tried it on my skin since opening the top always gave me an unpleasant musky scent that promised to send me sneezing. I think the rollerball is a poor way to really test the scent, but alas, it’s all I have.
I am not very experienced with perfume, but I can’t identify what I dislike in this. It’s not offensive, but it’s not attractive to me. Due to the rollerball, there is no projection from my wrists, and forget any sillage. This will take a few more tries before I make up my mind.

I used to own this chance perfume and it’s back on my want list. This just smells like class to me. I feel like this perfume is that base Chanel scent that you get slight hints of in every chanel. whenever I wear this my husband can tell right away and says your wearing Chanel right? Lol. Smells like an elegant lady def not an everyday perfume it’s one of those you need to wear to special occasions. I will treat myself to this again very soon!

I picked a sample of this perfume, and couldn’t wait to try it at home. Unfortunately I was not impressed. It smelled exactly like Coco Mademoiselle, minus the rose notes. The two scents are way too similar, with madmoiselle being slightly more classy because of its more floral notes (and the beautiful bottle)

I wanted to like at least one Channel perfume, but alas it was my last Chance and it failed me. All Channel’s perfumes smell like soap, strong and stinky soap, on my skin. It is just my body chemistry. I know some women love it and I know that No. 5 is supposed to be the Holy Grail, but Chance was terrible for me (it was so bad, my daughter gave it an audible “No” with her hand over her nose). I gave the bottle to a friend who loves it (although her husband says he smells soap too).

Chance edt and edp, and coco mademoiselle edt and edp are very similar between them. I love all of them! I think they are elegant and youthful scents at the same time, the kind of perfumes you can wear your whole life without getting bored. Chance edp is amazing, obsviously more concentrated than edt and his cousins coco mlle edt/edp. More I test and try other mainstream fragrances, more I like chanel perfumes. Very well done.
Edit: both chance and coco mademoiselle I prefer edt version.

I wore several bottles of this when it first came out. I recently tested it again and am pleased to say it smells like I remember. I still like it, although perhaps my chemistry has changed in the intervening years. In fact, I’m positive it’s my skin as Chance still smells the same in the bottle. It had an ammonia scent on my skin in the opening that lasted about 20 minutes before fading into the Chance I remember. Again, I strongly believe it was my skin, so please don’t let that deter you from trying this very wearable Chanel.

I think this is absolutely lovely.
Warm and elegant, alluring and sexy, I always get compliments when I wear this. And it’s versatile enough to wear on virtually any occasion. The longevity on this one is impressive too.

This is one of the best chanel fragrances there is. It is sparkling, alluring and enchanting. i bought it alongside coco mademoiselle but ended up giving mademoiselle to my sister as i really loved Chance. All the chance flankers are pretty amazing but it depends on the individual and the one they are more drawn to. I personally like Chance, followed by Chance eau Fraiche and then Chance Eau Tendre. Chance feels very sexy and glamourous. Eau Fraiche is very sparkling and fresh. Eau Tendre is radiant and innocent. Nonetheless, this is an amazing fragrance and i would recommend it to anyone trying to add a new fragrance to their perfume collection. x

this smells very nice! i didn’t like it at first (2 years ago i got the sample, sprayed it on a piece of fabric) the musk smell scared me.
i guess i don’t understand musk very well.
but that smell is very mild when on my skin and the the fragrance seems to get sweeter the longer it’s on.
it has been about 2 hours and i think i can finally smell the pineapple. is that normal?
for my nose the musk was stronger when first put on then “blended in” i guess to the rest of it. i can still detect it but it’s not making my nose sad.

Heaven on Earth! Returned my bottle of Tendre, because of longevity…..Purchased Chance….LOVE! The pineapple is the first note I smell….the dry down is amazing….vanilla, pineapple, musk ….This may be my signature scent!

Sweet pineapple smell. This is luxurious and never boring, classic and well blended, a little spichy and sophisticated.
It is sweet and then spichy and has a strange sharp peppery note wich makes it interesting.
    The perfect casual perfume.
    One of my favs.

Sometimes we see limited notes listed for a perfume but there’s much more going on in reality but here there’s five notes listed and chanel chance edp is all about these five notes.it’s as simple and as linear as it suggests
Most prominent notes on my skin are jasmine and patchouli, since non of them are my faves there’s no wonder I don’t like chance edp very much..it’s somehow spicy in the opening because of pink pepper and maybe patchouli itself but as time passes I find it a tad soapy but in a classy way.vanilla doesn’t have big role here and doesn’t make it sweet, warm, creamy or delicious.it’s just a hint of powdery vanilla sprinkled on top of Musky jasmine-spicy patchouli combo..that’s it.it doesn’t smell bad but also doesn’t smell so good to make me pay this much for it.I don’t find it unique or with distinct personality but since it’s a very simple fragrance,it can be versatile and especially good for formal meetings because it’s serious and clean and classy without telling much about you, without even emphasize on gender
It’s wearable year round, better for mild weather IMO
Longevity is almost 6,7 hours on my skin with a bit more than moderate sillage
I used to have chanel chance edt years ago and according to what I remember about it being fruity, there’s lots of differences between edt and edp

I took a chance the day other and tested this fragrance out. The first spray was quite pleasing but as the scent was drying down it started to smell like cat urine to me. I don’t know what note is responsible for it but this was a let down for me as I really wanted a CHANEL fragrance in my collection. Sorry to all the lovely ladies with chemistries that brings out the best in this fragrance but this is a no go for me.

    TAKE A CHANCE
Chance is a sweet powdery boudoir fragrance. This is by far my favorite category of perfume. This is a simple, linear scent, it doesn’t make a statement and it’s clean and though not very fresh, it’s cozy and comfy.
The perfume opens with a jasmine floral note, but I wonder if there is at least one other white floral note (heliotrope? white rose?) because it does have a very flowery side to it.
The fragrance swiftly slides into a patchouli leaf and musk, not quite on the unisex side, a warm and easy to wear intro Oriental musk-patch. There is more vanilla than anything else. The vanilla is sweet and light but just a bit creamy. This is perfect to wear to bed with lingerie.
Not terribly sexy but very well made and sensual. It reminds me of Satine by Lalique. Very nice.

I love this citrusy slightly powdery scent. It is indeed a “spiky” freshness as someone below mentioned.
To me this is a young and positive scent.
One spray goes a long way. (It lasts the entire day on me).
This is LOVE for me. Simply GORGEOUS.

Chance is young and uninhibited, with its heart on its sleeve. A composition of fresh, floral, and pepper imparts feelings of renewed ambitions and happy spirits.
In terms of a perfume it isn’t anything profound; notes of pineapple, lemon and patchouli gives this a fresh and uplifting quality while the jasmine makes it ultra-feminine. Chance is incredibly versatile- safe for all occasions and surprisingly elegant, a perfect accessory for spring or the beginnings of summer.
I wanted to love it, but ultimately I feel you are paying for the brand more than the actual substance. Chance is heavily reminiscent of the perfume counters at department stores; which could be nostalgic for some but not a memory that that I particularly cherish haha.
Sillage is quite soft on my skin. The EDT doesn’t last as long as the EDP (and much milder in concentration) but that’s okay because this fragrance is meant to be subtle and inoffensively safe. Overall I think I prefer Coco Mademoiselle before this one, with its retail value I feel Chance is a little too familiar and conventional (which isn’t a bad thing), but you can find better alternatives that will rival the simplicity of this fragrance f
