Description

Four fragrances for men of the collection Cereus Pour Homme have been presented in mid-November 2007.

Cereus brand was established in 2004 by Rosenbaum and with support of two business partners, Tina Klem and Maria Corbiscello. The four presented fragrances are the first independent enterprise of the house, which is prone to have a niche touch and build the quality and credibility in that direction. The Cereus fragrances are named after the night cactus flower, Night Blooming Cereus. They are designed with intention to bring freshness, purity and sophisticated trace, as well impeccable quality. They are aimed at men over 35, those that are fond of Brioni and Canali suits.

The fragrances are named Cereus No.4, Cereus No.5, Cereus No.7 and Cereus No.11.

All four fragrances come in identically shaped bottles to be distinguished only by the differences in the colors their tops, and notes, of course. The tops are reminiscent to four colors of trees – birch, cherry, mahogany and walnut. The fragrances are available as 75ml (2.6 oz.fl.) and 100ml (3.4 oz.fl.) EDT.

Cereus No.11 was created in cooperation with Fragrance Resources. It seduces with the notes of anis, nutmeg, black pepper, musk and woodsy accords.

Very nice smell. Vetiver and pepper. I could smell a citrus but then I could have been confusing it with the anis mentioned here, I would recommend it but not sure if at the $125 price tag.

This is my general take on the entire men’s fragrance line of Cereus. Every single one of their fragrances has the potential of being a very good gift for dad. Although they may be different in number, nothing stands out as the clear cut victor. The common denominator between these scents are the price, longevity, and wearability. For instance, Cereus no 14 (which is not in fragrantica’s database) is the only eau de parfum in this house but the price, longevity and wearability is no different than the eau de toilettes. All in all, Cereus no 11 and company are worth a sample.

This smells like walking by the sea, through the cypress woods. I think this sensation comes from anise and juniper berries .. so masculine, Mediterranean, myrrhy and summery. Interesting scent ..

Wow. What a nice woody scent. Spicy? Not so much. I can easily smell nutmeg and anise and some mild cedar. The scent is little warm and sweet with a peppery bitterness edge while making me feel fresh and professional, which is nice. Overall, the scent reminds me of Herve Leger Homme, a little bit of Dsquared2 Rocky Mountain, and even a bit of Burberry Beat for Men. I also smell something like patchouli or basil too, but it’s not enough to overpower the nice woodsy accord. I also smell vetiver at the last minute.
Sorry, I don’t get anything like plastic or leathery here. For the lasting power, it’s unknown to me because I only have single use sample. This is a nicely blend woodsy fragrance but its price is quite expensive. I think I’d better of finding the alternative. (Rocky Mt. Is my strongest contender)

I really love how this smells! Anise is tricky….I absolutely love the scent of the actual star anise herb, found in health food stores…..however many perfumes get it wrong, it can turn rubbery or plasticky. Anyway, No. 11 reminds me of leather more than anything else, for whatever weird reason, in a very good way. Reminds me of bpal’s Quincey Morris which is very hard to find now. The only problem is that No. 11 fades very quickly and has absolutely no staying power when I’ve worn it. I only have a sample so the spray might be different. It’s totally yum, I don’t get a lot of lime, if any at all. I’d love to have a bottle so I can spray liberally but at the same time I might just stick to my precious bottle of Quincey Morris.
