Full note breakdown based on the tester bottle sticker
Top Notes – Green apple, Nutmeg, Saffron
Heart Notes – Tonka bean, Osmanthus, Davana, Rose
Base Notes – Vanilla, Patchouli, Opoponax, Resinoid
Picked this up few days ago cant believe how amazing it is. Herod has been dethroned as my favorite pdm. What i get from this is the apple pie feeling from oajan mix with the smoky resinious apple crumble of habdan and the dessert like kulfi note in tom ford noir extreme. The final result is absolutely intoxicating. Its sweet warm spicy fruity dark boozy smooth gorumand fragrance made for winter and fall. Laslty performance is insane, the strongest from.the house even stronger and thicker than oajan

I envy the people who can comfortably wear Carlisle.
For me it is just too strong, it invades my senses and gives me headache and dry eyes.
I do really like it, but the opening…BAM! here, have this super-strong woody accord that is so intense you may need to sit down for a minute.
Then comes a truffle, patchouli and cacao drydown which is less intense, but still feels invasive like the perfume is trying to kill me! I feel It draws some parallels to Tom Ford Noir Extreme for men during the drydown phase.
Carlisle is really very nice, and I feel bad for writing this way about it. I would certainly test it out first though, this is no blind buyer.
Not for me i’m afraid, but not due to the scent, more due to the intensity and how it affects my senses.
    Some will love it though!

Have I been conned? I bought this from a well known online fragrance seller in Canada and I don’t get any of the smells I am reading about here. For me Raghba is what I smell. I’ll admit that when it comes to note breakdowns then I’m not your guy but once I smell something similar scents stay with me. Is it possible I’ve received a fake? It has a lot# on the box and bottle 809601 but other than that nothing else to go on. It came sealed (just FYI).
I trust this company but the difference in what I am reading here and my bottle of Carlisle are just too far off for it to be just my lack of note knowledge.
    Help…

    HO-LY-SMOKES!!!
I’ve heard people raving about this for a while now so had my expectations way out of this world. Blind bought this bad boy and DAAAAAAMN!
The rumours are true…this thing blew me away. Dark, mysterious, seductive, heck I may even rock this in the dead of summer, it just smells that good!
You owe it to yourself to put your nose on this. Big time banger from a fantastic house.

I just received my parfums de marly Carlisle,IMO the best of the house I’m getting a Tom Ford oud wood and tobacco vanille vibe, plus vanilla I think this is more a fall and winter scent,in the heat it will be a little cloying.

Harrods in London exclusively is NOT CORRECT information. I bought it from boozt.com, a standard online clothing boutique.
Anyways, it’s a fantastic scent and my new signature scent and absolutely magic. stunning… I have no words. I never had som many comments about my new scent, like this one. Everyone wonders “What is it you’re wearing today?” I am not so familiar with the perfume terminology, but I can only say one thing… If you have the cash; BUY IT! You won’t regret it

Crisp late fall night out with the family or date kind of scent, beautiful but not versatile obviously. The scent evokes memories I had forgotten, emotions that were hidden away to be revealed through Carlisle. You can sense the amazing craftsmanship upon dry down, it’s a special one. 8.5/10

Carlisle is WONDERFUL!!!! I bought it blind and just received mine today and I had to spray it on my hand to test it. It does smell like a combo of Herod and Oajan. Its very warm and a bit sweet, but still spicy. A very beautiful comfortable cozy scent. I am so glad I got this bottle. It is delicious!!!!
    EDIT:
I am giving it a first wearing today… The opening is very potent. Tobacco, leather, saffron, spices and a bit of sweetness. The opening is magical!!! In the dry-down I get an amped up amber that combines with the saffron/tobacco blend. The spices have also taken a back seat and the scent is not as syrupy sweet, however the amber still provides a bit of sweetness.
My initial spray was 6am, it is 1pm right now. I can tell there is still a slight bit of a sillage trailing me even though I feel Carlisle is a slightly more powerful skin scent right now. If anyone is close to me, I know they can still smell it.
This is such a beautiful scent. Giving it a full wearing I would say its a combination of Herod/Oajan/Tobacco Vanille.

I found another love besides Naxos (Xerjoff). Carlisle is a scent that envelops you with a warmth, sweet warmth. It hits my olfactory scents like a “manjar dos deuses” hits my palate. You get disarmed by the beautiful smell that inundate your brain. It’s just too good. I am not a big fan of Herod (by Kilian BtB is way better), but really like Oajan. I don’t think Carlisle is a marriage of these two. I do think Carlisle has reminiscent of Layton though. But it’s perfection on its own. I don’t know nothing about notes, because I only care if I love it. Carlisle is love.

somebody said that it’s mix of Herod+Oajan.that was TRUE.very sweat warm notes that may not suitable for room and office but so sexy. still herod is the best among these three. not worth to buy in my opinion.8/10

Where is the cinnamon!, the vanilla, the tonka, & the saffron!
It is simply sweet spice, and vanilla syrup. The european sweet oud with syrup vanilla, & cinammon, cardamom blend. It kind of reminds me of Tom Ford’s “Tobacco Vanille”. & Initio’s cinnamon based fragrances, also reminds me of MDCI’s “Fêtes Persanes”.

A fruity scent that is both creamy and slightly warm. Bright, but not in the sense of your typical fruity fragrance as this features a sweet vanilla and warm, encompassing tonka in the base. Carlisle’s creaminess stems from its fragrant, and well-done saffron accord which drives the heart. It is a smooth, semi-spicy and clean saffron and it pairs well with the base notes and top notes without getting in the way or overpowering any aspect of the scent. Carlisle’s top notes are a floral apricot enhanced by osmanthus, and what smells like Parfums de Marly’s signature green apple accord as also used in Layton. The scent is mostly linear except for its increasing warmth and sweetness that occurs with the development of the tonka component. A woody frame of sandalwood and patchouli holds the fragrance in place while the other notes embellish it with colorful oranges, creamy whites, and soft purples. This is a unisex fruity scent that feels well suited for the fall and winter, and should create a solid scent bubble around its subject at about arm’s length. It lasts for over 8 hours. Recognizable immediately as a Marly release, Carlisle brings perhaps the most fruit-driven fragrance in the collection while also introducing a degree of polish and seamless integration of synthetics unseen before. This is the smoothest PdM scent I have encountered. Overall, I enjoy this one a lot and find it different enough from the others as to avoid redundancy. Hard to find and a little more expensive than others, but worth tracking down. Due to its price, I recommend Carlisle for sampling to see if it works for you. Thumbs up, 8.5/10.
Final note: I’ve found Carlisle smells best with a light application of two sprays from about a foot away. If overapplied it can become obnoxious due to its strength. I would recommend going light at first and increasing from there if needed.

I know from a pretty reliable source that Carlisle’s note breakdown is different from the one listed here.
    Topnotes: Green Apple, Nutmeg.
Heartnotes: Tonka Bean, Saffron, Osmanthus, Davana, Rose.
    Basenotes: Vanilla, Patchouli, Opoponax, Sandalwood.
Parfums de Marly’s official website actually confirms some of these notes.

This is a delicious, bright, fruity-floral. Unisex as unisex can be with 50% feminine and 50% masculine. This is good for day or night but mainly for outdoorsy or better yet intimate settings. To my nose, the development of “Carlisle” is linear, what you smell from the beginning is what you get. It isn’t a complex composition nor is it unique but that’s okay because I found the smell appealing and playful. The main players here are the florals and the mandarin-orange. The jasmine gives it a sort of thick aromatic vibe and the citruses give it that bright fruity touch. Longevity was good as well as projection. It did garner some compliments. Try it.
