Description

Riding along the unexplored roads of life, where the excitement of adventure is newly born every morning—life, in its purest and wildest sense. These were the sensations Beatrice Aguilar experienced when presented with the aroma of Brun Sicilien, created by Alexandra Kosinski.

Fresh white florals and citrus develop to fine Gaucho leather, heliotrope and musky notes on a warm base. Brun Sicilien is available as a 100 ml eau de parfum, in a box adorned with original artwork by Tano Pisano.

Brun Sicilien by Scent on Canvas is a Leather fragrance for women and men. Brun Sicilien was launched during the 2010’s. The nose behind this fragrance is Alexandra Kosinski. Top notes are white flowers, jasmine and sicilian mandarin; middle notes are leather, suede, black pepper, cardamom, heliotrope and musk; base notes are amber, birch, indonesian patchouli leaf and madagascar vanilla.

The floral opening Brun Sicilien is very original and different (the best of this fragrance) surprises you smell the jasmine flowers with white mixed with a bubbling and brief tangerine with a sweet, bright spot. Here you feel the feeling animalica background moments reminded me of Kerleo eau de Patou mixed with labdanum 18 Le Labo, although Brun here is less is more fresh and original and dream, really very nice all this network. To produce this effect has much to do mixing notes of leather: suede, leather and coriacea note that provides birch, very well executed everything turns Brun at an average phase rich in nuances and very striking, yes, this phase is less bright than the entrance. Already it is beginning to feel here the sweet spot that gives the trinomial: vanilla, amber and patchouli.
Drying is very nice, sweet and warm, it is also less impressive, classic and oriental. In addition this phase even more feminine than masculine meeting.
The qualities are medium-high, with a very entertaining evolution, the projection is mean and very good length, in fact, I was surprised that a fund of several very strong musks when it seems that going to end appears: first one Soapy, then another more floral with heliotrope and finally another dusting, making up the long final drying. To me, personally, I find this last phase out of place, somewhat disjointed structure and the story he wants to tell this fragrance, but for tastes already known …… “Colors”
Anyway it has been a fragrance that I really enjoyed.

The first time I smelled Brun Sicilien I immediately knew I smelled something identical before. Some kind of ointment. The memory was so vivid. I couldn’t bear not recalling what it was. Sniffed and re-sniffed. Stuck my arm out to BF hoping he’d recall something. Asked around bunch of friends. All to no avail.
Just now I was testing Lubin’s Gin Fizz. It reminded me of a Scent on Canvas scent (Blanc de Paris). Not exactly sure which one it was before checking my notes I sprayed on some Brun Sicilien. And suddenly the memory came back:
    Vaseline.
This smells just like (old) vaseline. The oily, waxy, medicinal smell is exactly what Brun Sicilien is. I still can’t believe it took me this long to figure out.
A very long lasting and non-greasy vaseline though!

My first impression of this is masculinity. Brun Sicily brings to mind men in tweed, on horseback, riding through a meadow with their horses kicking up little white flowers. There’s a whiff of suede, leather and spices on a bed of white florals.
As it wears on, it becomes yet deeper and heavier. Somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd hour of wear, the spices spike for a while, then die down and give way to an almost cuddly musky feel. If it wasn’t for the slight smokiness that emerges, this could have been a bit of a nice skin scent, but the smoke helps the perfume float around.
Throughout the entire lifespan of Brun Sicilien on my skin (almost 5 hours!), I did not smell much vanilla. Perhaps it is there in softer degrees than I am used to, and my inexperienced nose missed it in the swirl of spices and suede.
Scent on Canvas lists this as a unisex scent, but to some extent, I beg to differ. A woman could wear this comfortably (especially in the last couple of hours), but to my nose, this is the scent for a young man out to woo a lady, and is determined to let her know that he is, in no uncertain terms, a true gentleman.
Sillage is wanting on me. It doesn’t carry very far, which I found slightly disappointing.

This one was a bit disappointing to me. I love leather and vanilla but I couldn’t smell much of anything. There was a medicinal beginning which seems to be the signature of this house. and then it went straight to a sweet vanilla dry down that was quite faint.

This is leather and especially suede (a favorite note of mine) done right! It’s a powdery, creamy, vanilla suede, so feminine, and quite beguiling. Not a dark perfume at all. The vanilla is slightly sweet. This perfume sort of makes me think of Armani Lei, a favorite in the vanilla category, but take away the citrus of Lei and add the luxury of suede. It’s true love for me, sitting very high on my WANT List.
