I’ve really started liking Patchouli as a favorite note. I tried some of the best, and first purchased 2, Lorenzo Villoresi Patchouli, and Classic Patchouli.
Then I found a bottle of Boss Patchouli tester for about $55. so I blind bought it.
It is patchouli dominant, but not as much as the two patch frags I mentioned. I am just a little disappointed that it’s very close to Lorenzo Villoresi Patchouli which can be purchased for $85./ 100 ml. ,and it’s more complex, just in that the patchouli has more facets, and a few more enjoyable nuances. Both these fragrances have a patchouli that is the sharper, herbal, minty, more medecinal type.
I like medecinal notes as some ouds are and eucalyptus in Creed Royal Mayfair.
If you like the richer, sweeter wet earth and mossy type of patchouli, this is not it. Jovoy Psychodeique, would be that; a warm creamy, boozy patchouli.
This Boss Patchouli smells like a good niche patchouli, with some modern designer aromatic nuances. There are some unlisted notes that give it a sense of cashmere, or clothes. It did remind me of Penhaligans Sartorial, which is a fragrance that commemorates the London clothe industry.
It smells slightly metallic and cold, modern chic in a good way. I am picking up on some slight aromatic nuances: There is something slightly fresh like a hint of bergamot, something vaguely floral, like a hint of violet, something very slightly gourmand, like caramel which softens the cold metallic note; And a little powdery, with a possible Iris touch.
The opening 15 minutes it is mostly patchouli, then these pleasant aromatic nuances start to appear. It is starting to remind me of Narciso Rodriguez for Him, which is a patchouli fragrance with more aromatic things going on.
This has a cold, modern, metallic vib. It reminds me of Tom Ford’s Anthrocite, a bit in that way. I am picking up a slightly warmer base note, a bit of amber and cedar in here perhaps.
So now I’m glad I have this, because it is different than Lorenzo Villoresi Patchouli, which I like more, and I recommend it over Boss, if your looking to enjoy a more pure multi faceted patchouli.
These raw Patchouli frags, I like to wear for myself. I may not choose to wear them around people gatherings or work, because it can be off putting for some, perhaps.
A positive for this Boss Patchouli is that it may be more wearable around people, because of the aromatic nuances.
I am starting to like this more. There is a lot of good quality patchouli, but it’s modern and refined, with some nice aromatic nuances. This is not anything like your typical designer fragrance. I like this more than Tom Ford Anthrocite, which I almost purchased.
    This has good edp performance.

I can’t believe how few people own this jewel, and today again, I am the only one wearing it within the online fragrantica community.
I am delightfully pleased by this fragrance, and it made it to my loved ones in a minute and I got compliments right away.
Someone around here said that it is a unisex patchouli, but in my opinion this is totally masculine, although as I have said before we should all wear whatever we like regardless.
I sprayed this one on in new years eve and lasted on me until the second day of the new year, with a very nice mellowed down sillage, which is rather very noticeable in the first couple hours of wearing it.
I was expecting something like this when I bought Essence de Patchouli by Perris Monte Carlo, and sadly, disappointment was the only thing I got with that one.
In this Boss, obviously the predominant note is Patchouli, but the cashmere blend in the base notes is remarkable, very nicely done, and I feel special since I am the only one wearing within the Fragrantica community that is online…
Now I want to try the other fragrances from the collection.

    Hi Louismanuel,
The similarity to Zino is really just that they are both patchouli scents. Zino for sure has a different vibe and composition, so not suggesting that they are clones.

When you say similarities with Zino, do you mean the basenotes? Because that has a prominent very lovely Vanilla.
Maybe I will test the Hugo boss special collection next time.
Left it ontouched last Saturday, after already sampling a dozen of fragrances.
After a ridiculous 22 fragrances, 2 aftershaves and 2 deodorants purchase in the last 2 months, I’m afraid I have already set my first steps in upgrading my fragrance collection.
In the last 2 weeks I purchased 3 Acqua di Parma, which are the most expensive in my collection, compared only with Hermes. Today I will receive the 3th one but also Ermenegildo Zegna Italian Bergamot, which is more than twice the price of ADP.
My eyes felt recently on the special collections of Dolce & Gabbana, although I think those are mainly female, Tom Ford, Ermenegildo Zegna and last saturday also Hugo Boss.
I have been wearing exclusively Hugo Boss for over 25 years, until 4 years ago my curiosity for fragrances started. I was checking today what the reactions are on this collection.
But as I said, I am really afraid I will like them, because, as if mainstream fragrances were not already expensive enough, I will have to dig even deeper.
In the meanwhile Tom Ford private collection is out of the question for me. His Summer fragrances are special in price only.

Had smelled this in a Duty Free shop in Munich and really liked it, but resisted buying…admittedly because it was a Hugo Boss, and also somewhat pricey for a designer frag. Finally put some on a month ago and was very impressed. The scent is really masculine and fresh. I get very good longevity and really enjoy the whiffs I get throughout the day. It really is a great versatile scent, well-formulated and quite a performer. I love wearing this with a suit and receive compliments when I do. Would highly recommend as a business or evening scent, especially during colder weather.
If price is a consideration, look at Davidoff Zino…very similar scent but darker with a slightly “dirty” note.

Lovely patchouli. But not the cozy kind. It has that sour opening smell that usually dies down but it didn’t. Maybe it needed to bloom on skin.

The best Hugo Boss fragrane. It is different than any other male fragrance, very musculin. Plus it is not known to many… and makes ladies wonder ” What the hell is this charming man wearing that makes him so irrisistable”.

Smells like a decent bar of soap. Not bad but that’s about it. They sell it at Nordstroms for $140 for 50 ml bottle. Makes you craves a better deal and a better scent. Shameful really.

OMG I love this! I urgently need a bottle! My boyfriend was wearing this when he came back home, he picked it up in the Dubai duty free and it is to die for! There must be something else in this fragrance apart from Patchouli because there is some serious layers to this fragrance! The patchouli is obviously the prominent note, and it is a gorgeous patchouli that smells rich, dense and hypnotic. Guessing there’s cashmere in this fragrance, which I’m guessing is adding the slight trace of soft sexuality to it. This fragrance is beyond beautiful, but no where sells it in the UK 🙁 guys you really need to smell this hidden gem!
EDIT: Didnt realise house of Fraser sell this beauty! Asking price of £120 though! It’s more than worth it though!

This is an excellent fragrance. Long lasting and very powerful. I get a resemblance to vintage Givenchy Gentlemen at the start and then it morphs into something a bit more complex with the drydown giving a different scent from afar than what it smells like when putting the nose right to the skin. This is high quality stuff and worth the $150.

I coldly treat to perfumes Hugo Boss, but as an niche perfume lover so I must try the selective collection from this brand- may be suddenly … ?!!!
The entire line sounds from the bottle nice and natural , but it became clear that there were nothing complicated and masterpiece. I think those are characteristic features of the Hugo Boss perfumes. They (except Damascus Oud ) behaved too modest on my skin,((( From this collection exactly Cashmere & Patchouli is not liked me. It seems to me this perfume is something familiar from the late 90s . This reminds me the cloth soaked with rum . For me it is quite dry and like eau de cologne . On females … ? Oh, no – I think would be too simple , sharp and detached, revealing that woman is wearing evidently men’s fragrance.
