BARAONDA is an Italian word that means Uproar:
What is created in an eighteenth-century tavern on the edge of a port.
Perfume sublime, refined, particular. The main idea is the smell of cork wet in alcohol as it means the cap but there is also something semi-sweet that fascinates me. Something mysterious, intriguing due to the seeds of ambrette and a candid and beautiful rose.
    Not bad as a hubbub!

I remember the first time I tried Nasomatto Baraonda, people thought I had a few to drink and I never drink so I had a wrong perception of it. But as father time passes, I would let people think what they may because this is a fantastic composition.
Talk about Boozy, this would compete and probably win against any boozy fragrance out there. Whiskey, Whiskey, and more Whiskey; garnished with some woody notes, ambrette, rose, and musk. This won’t make you smell drunk but eloquent and classy. It’s bright, approachable and sophisticated. As with most Nasomatto, longevity, sillage, and projection is very good. Excellent for today’s 48°F weather to keep me warm.

Bűbájosan kiegyensúlyozott elixír, maga a tiszta művészet.
Gyümölcsök esnek a mélybe, sötét és finom füst száll a föld felett, meleg és finom esti hangulat, viaszos a csend…

A spicy, boozy rose with a slightly off-kilter musk mallow note which adds masculinity and warmth. Not for times when you’re feeling timid or faint of heart, this is more for the moments when you’re feeling flamboyant or bold, in the mood to proudly announce your presence with a scent that is different and distinct. Performance is above average. Baraonda projects significantly and lasts a while, no issues there. I’ve been in an experimental phase with this for some time now, still sort of figuring it out. I find it has a somewhat festive, semi-formal appeal and feels most appropriate when I’m a little dressed up. Let’s just say it’s not your typical casual, office fragrance. Its whiskey accord is very well done, realistic and lending itself well to the overall scent. It reminds me of one of the earlier Frapin releases in that regard, something like 1270 or 1697. It’s a bit darker than I expected, more amber browns and caramelic hues than the bright and deep reds I’d anticipated, but that’s a good thing, in my opinion, and makes this a rose scent that men can wear quite easily. Overall it’s definitely a solid option in the Nasomatto catalog and worth sampling and possibly owning if you enjoy stepping out of the typical, mainstream box, and are into opulent sorts of fragrances. Particularly useful in the fall and winter. Final rating 8.5/10.

Just received; I love the dark smoky booziness accompanied by a sweetness that this fragrance provides. Awesome fragrance!
This fragrance has amazing staying power; I really like it!
Suits any occasion; I have worn this in the office, shops, etc. It is summer time and I have had no complaints, not sure how this would perform in a different season, however, my thoughts lead me to believe it would be just fine!!
    Performance: 8.5

    Silage: 8
    Projection: 8.5
Overall: 8 (a really nice and intriguing fragrance)

Top notch boozy and smoke composition.
The opening is a realistic smooth whisky/rum accord with a hint of berries or brandy soaked raisins. The heart is mainly consisting of ashes and smoke, probably from the labdanum/ambrette. In the drydown woody notes with ambery ambroxan, burnt tonka, maybe immortelle and even the slightest hint of coffee. In between the heartnotes and basenotes morph back and forth.
Projection is above average but longevity is excellent, 12 hours+. I only find it turning sweet in the drydown, butt not as feminine as others are stating. more on the masculine side.
The only downside is I’d find it hard using in an office or other public working scenario – apart from that really a piece of art.

Without a doubt Baraonda is a boozy based fragrance, to me the smell is not really like a freshly poured Bourbon Whisky smell, but the smell of a Bourbon Whisky glass that has dried overnight and then wiped clean the next day. No joke, the smell is practically identical. Try it yourself, pour a shot of some Bourbon Whisky in a shot glass, drink the shot and let the glass sit until it is completely dried. Then get a paper towel and scrub the glass clean of the leftover residue, it will smell 100% like Baraonda.
Baraonda is the smell of dried Bourbon Whisky residue. Seems weird, but the smell is quite unique. At the same time it can also give off vibes of pipe tobacco that could have been cured in Whisky. Either way, it is not a fresh boozy smell, but the smell of aged booze.

“Whiskey!”, I exclaimed as the first note hit my nose.
This perfume is definitely the Pirates of the Caribbean movie in a bottle. The alcohol, the mystery and the non corresponded love. The sweat sweetness, the cigars, the boat, the barrels, the water and the wood, the beautiful lady, the treasure, the fight, the honor.

I had average expectations after finding Black Afgano and Duro ok but not up to the hype that they have gotten over the years. But Baraonda, man this is one of my favorites of all time! The opening might be too feminine for sum but I love the rose/berry vibe which is prominent during the longevity of the scent on my skin. Then the long lasting boozy/woody/musk dry down is pure bliss! IDK about it being a compliment getter but if you love deep long lasting frags then this is a must sample. BTW, this review is based on a sample vial from luckyscent so I am sure that the spray would go over the 24 hour mark in longevity as the vial is at least half of that. If you like scents such as SL Chene,1697, and Lubin then you must try this gem!

I must be seriously missing something here because I didn’t like this. No scratch that….It’s very difficult for me to dislike something, I could tolerate it, even enjoy aspects of it but put together Baraonda doesn’t work for me. The opening to me smells like raspberry/strawberry, unctuously sweet and feminine with a jammy rose note. I didn’t actually read the notes beforehand and sometimes alcohol notes can be hard to define but there’s an undoubtedly malty, boozy note of positive whisky, which started to emerge. This leads into a chunkier and more Nasomatto base of musk mallow and modern amber. It’s alright, I can see why fans of the slightly unusual would enjoy this. It comes from a more indy perfume place and is truly trying to innovate reminscent of slumberhouse or 4160 Tuesdays, something like that. I equate Baraonda to when contestants on Masterchef insist that wacky flavour combinations like, Halibut and stawberry compote go together, despite the experts warning them prior that “…They absolutely won’t!” but they persevere anyway and their resulting dish is a disaster. Actually that might be a bad example because at least some balance is displayed here and the tart sweetness of the opening is counteracted by the robust whisky…I just don’t like it is all. I will give it another chance to convince me but I’m always intrigued when there’s love for something I don’t understand. Generally speaking there’s some degree of consensus among fragrance heads and the relatively easily pleased like myself, but I feel on the outside looking in with this one.

I haven’t smelled narcotic Venus, pardon, blamage and silver musk yet… But baraonda… To me this scent is an aphrodisiac. I feel like that’s what nasomatto is trying to accoomplish.. To make the most seductive scents.. And I don’t know about the other fragrances but this one is so seductive every time I spray it I’m always surprised by how sexy it smells

Love it, first time and it is amazing. Sweet but in a smooth way with a little booziness. Longevity great and just the right amoing of projection. This along with Pardon are oustanding collections from this house.

It’s a great quality fragrance, one of the most realistic whiskey accord I’ve ever smelled. I dont think it fits my style though, I don’t really enjoy wearing it but smelling it is fun. A little bit feminine , not by very much

No this is not another version of Hillary Duff or By Killian Amber OUD!
Baraonda is a sweet/Boozy unique scent that changes likes a Chameleon and lasts for hours on skin and days on clothing!
I blind buy this one and has no regrets; For a matter of fact will order another bottle,
Trust me 30ML of this goodness is not going to last that long with me!
    Scent 10/10
    Silage 10/10
    Lasting power; All day!

Nasomatto can definitely do gourmands that men can feel comfortable with. Pardon is one such scent, Baraonda is an even better example.
Expecting Nasomatto’s usual high-voltage projection and longevity, I was initially a bit disappointed on both fronts. But over the months I learned to appreciate this subtle, warm scent which stays close to the skin. Baraonda is fairly linear and dries down into a soft, wonderful mix of firewood, whiskey and cinnamon, without any one note standing out. What might sound dense and opaque is actually light and airy; unusual considering the notes. For the price, longevity could be a bit better, but it does last a good 5 or so hours.
A great modern scent with some edge to it, as one would expect with Nasomatto. Better for summer than winter. 8.5 / 10.

I find it very sweet and not that masculine… It reminds byredo pulp but I cant stand anyone of them. I had the chance to buy this or Roja Elysium but finally I bought Baraonda… Terrible mistake. I dont believe I will use it again as my stomach is a mess when I put it on my skin. 🙁
Is not a bad perfume but is not for me.

The greatest boozy fragrance of all time. Game changer.
Has all the strength and photorealistic detail of whisky, while adding development and complexity to rise above the sum of its parts. I get woody, floral and fruity nuances. This is perfumery at its absolute best.

  20. :

Sweet boozy smell with smoke & oud & light touch of incense. Sometimes is can smell like a special mixed cocktail that was made with only the highest top shelf liquors.
The ingredients that formulate this perfume are masterfully mixed, and that is what makes this perfume project off of my skin with pure bliss. Gets compliments galore and lasts until I take a shower.
Nasomatto done a great job with this one, along with my other favorites by this house, Black Afgano & Pardon.

It came in the mail today. It was a blind buy. The notes sounded to me so amazing that I had to have it. However, the scent resembles nothing close to what I had imagined. Anyway, it’s too early to say whether I like it or not, but it surely wasn’t a love at first sniff… Only time will tell…

  22. :

    5 out of 5

Mmmmmmm….. Baraonda was LOVE at first sniff!!
Heavy, boozy, strong, sexy, woody and slightly sweet. I get a very realistic whiskey scent in the opening. In my By Kilian Single Malt review I describe whiskey tastings and how to detect the different notes from a glass of whiskey. While I do get a very heavy whisky for this one, Baraonda is not quite the same as By Kilian SM. In NB I get a consolidated boozy whiskey scent vs picking out the notes that make up a particular brand, type and batch of a whiskey. After a few hours, the whiskey is joined by woods and musk causing it to mellow a bit, but thankfully the whiskey remains.
The whiskey note is very realistic, so if you wear this to work, you should bring the bottle with you to prove you have not been drinking. 😉
NB is much more masculine to my nose, but I can see a confidant woman pulling this one off. I get beast mode projection and longevity on my skin. This can be worn in formal or upscale / trendy attire.
Bottom line: If you enjoy whiskey scents, you should try a sample of this. If you do not enjoy the scent of whiskey, you should pass.

A painter uses his brush to create a picture. A parfumer uses his or hers aromas to make olfactive artwork. And both the painters image and the parfumers fragrance may affect people in various ways. The interesting with fragrances are that they may have impact on our feelings, they may create mental images and activate memories. Incredible!
With Baraonda, Gualtieri has made something special. First time I tried this, I started laughing because it was so good. And, off course I bought it. As I write, I wear Baraonda and I have a japanese whisky in the glass. Now I understand why this fragrance is said to be “boozy”. Its very similar to the whiskey.
However, Baraonda have a sexy, mysterious and beautyful note of dried fruits. I get wifts of it even many hours after putting it on. It is very inoffending and I use it at work, going to a party or casual. I feel special when I wear this and the wifts of dry fuits makes me happy. Gualtieri’s artwork gives me a cozy image of drinking a smooth whisky while watching the sun goes down. A warm breeze carries aromas from all the trees, fruits and flowers it has touched on the way. There is nothing that needs to be done. Just be present in the existence of what we call life.

Nasomatto has created a masterpiece like “Pardon”. All of his other productions come back. Also Baraonda. It is a pleasing scent, long lasting, with well-known alcoholic and sweet notes. But not too original. I have the impression that I’ve sniffed it before. Definitely 7,5/10, nothing more. To try

At the first, a little sweetness and oud is appeared. Gradually, sweetness is increased and smoke and oud also is increased too. Baraonda in my opinion is similar to Wazamba by Parfum d’ Empire….

Another blind buy that went south. My wife isn’t a fan of this one but i actually like it. She thinks it’s too boozy. The boozy notes are strong at first but fade into this real musky, creamy, woody scent i find somewhat addictive. So unique.. Projection is through the roof & this stuff literally lasts for days…. but the wife says she wants me to smell good not like I’ve been making out with a bottle of whiskey! Lol. Wife always wins so I’ll sadly end up swapping this one out.

What a strange and DEVASTATINGLY strong perfume.
When you first spritz it on, it’s 100% drinkable whiskey. I can rarely drink whiskey on the first try, usually requiring something lighter beforehand. When I first sprayed it on, I shuddered due to the pure strength. This requires a collected mind.
Here’s where my wearing experience differed from my friend’s, however. On him, the whiskey stayed on course and was incredibly sexy.
On me, it turned fruity and to raisins.
Three people said it didn’t work for me and I’d never been more disappointing in my chemistry.

    The crazy one…
Yes, this is a uniquely boozy and very strong fragrance. The name means “chaos” in Italian. I can see why (a very well executed and loud fragrance – controlled chaos). It’s also a polarising one I would say. Baraonda is quite a standout and unique fragrance actually. I get from this a very heavy boozy vibe. Like dried fruits and raising soaked in brandy, cognac and rum. Very dark and fruity and boozy. I’ve experienced fragrances that toy with this idea, but never something so full on as this.
What I like about it is the performance and longevity. It literally lasts pretty much all day long. It’s strong and potent and almost loud, but still wearable. It gives off a very serious yet playful vibe. I find it very interesting and one that I would recommend if you like those kind of perfumes.
Ultimately, Baraonda delivers on performance and longevity and originality. I realise that it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, and I think if you’re into niche, and dark, boozy fragrances etc then you’ll like this. As with all higher-end niche fragrances, do try out on skin thoroughly throughout the day before making a decision.

First impressions, before I forget to come back and give a true review on it. The opening smells like a slightly boozier, Pulp from Byredo, with a less “over-ripened” fruity note, which seems like it will make it more wearable.

The Oak cask tasting room has us buzzed and ensorcelled. Not since Miller Harris L’Air de Rien have I seen so little agreement among reviewers on their experience. 🙂
It’s safe to say there’s consensus on the Boozy opening. Although someone else mentions Pulp below, I don’t get that. From the Byredo suite, the initial spray is reminiscent of Seven Veils. Then you enter a mysterious dreamscape of rum, Japanese tatami-mats, and boiled celery. There’s an ambrette seed skank which I also liked in L’Aromatica’s Animus.
This is our first date, and I’d like to get to know Baraonda better. The best kinda date, where you just can’t get enough!

  33. :

    5 out of 5

Baraonda Opens up with a boozy semi sweet vibe, smooth and yummy, u can easily notice the whiskey and the ambrette. few hours later it becomes more of a woody type of scents while the sweetness remains. Its safe, unique, very pleasant yet complex. some say ts linear, but not to my nose!
This scent lasts easy 10-12 hours on my skin and projects like a beast the 2-3 first hours and after that starts to get more close to the skin, but its always there.
Price wise its a bit pricey i recommend FirstinFrgarnce for good pricing around 95 Euro which is not bad at all.
    Rating 8.5/10.

I find it ironic that the name of this fragrance translates as ‘chaos’ when the composition is anything but. I’m no perfume expert, but I don’t always need a complicated and challenging fragrance to make me feel amazing. This is simple – a beautiful, sweet whiskey based drink. It tells me a story of success – a man or woman drinking a sweet whiskey drink after wrapping up a hard day’s work. This person is not jaded but is at pure peace with their surroundings. I imagine it captures the smell in Harvey Specter’s office when he is pouring those drinks over a perfect New York City backdrop.
It usually takes me a little while to really appreciate and love a fragrance, but it has been a long, long time since I loved a fragrance at first smell to this extent. It just might be the release of 2016. Perfectly balanced, beautiful night time scent with amazing performance. It is heavy but never becomes cloying or overpowering. It is in perfect harmony. 11/10.

The house of Nasomatto is known for its eccentric but captivating fragrances. The fragrances are true to their creator’s philosophy in evoking a certain emotion with each fragrance. Baraonda (Italian for chaos, hubbub, bustle) is meant to encourage a raw taste sensation by evoking an olfactory stirring. I got this quote from the house’s website.
There are certain houses that it is better to avoid blind buying their fragrances, and certainly, Nasomatto falls within that category. But I did!
Baraonda drew my attention since it was showcased in November 2016. I still don’t know why although it might be the cork top? I admire Nasomatto’s creations and Baraonda is no exception. In a nutshell, it is a spectacular fragrance!
It evokes in me a summer in the Carribean. The scent reminds me of Carribean cocktails such as Carribean Breeze and Captain Courageous. Both of these cocktails are a mixture of whisky, coconut rum and juice!
Thus, I shall enjoy Baraonda during the summer months but I will have to use it judiciously, or else, the people around me may get the wrong idea.

  36. :

Nasomatto’s Baraonda to me uses a base of old wooden barrel like oak note and a strong clean hamster cage wood chips vibe that the blend of sandalwood and cedar can give off. If you’ve tried fragrances like Tom Ford Santal Blush or Diptyque Tam Dao you probably know what I’m talking about here.
It’s covered by a dominant caramelized, honeyed, amber-y, fruity (pineapple)/berries and lightly smoky whiskey. So it incorporates many of the possible aromas of this alcoholic drink and does it very well. Adding to the two aforementioned fragrances, it could then also be right up the alley of By Kilian perfumes’ lovers with their boozy, night-time feeling.
While its name means “chaos”, it is ironically a well structured and easy scent to enjoy if its notes and accords fall into what you like or love in fragrances. It is easily among the least polarizing of Nasomatto’s creations in the ones I’ve tried as we speak (Most of them).
Baraonda is a warm, very comforting sweater you wear on a fresh, pitch black fall night around a campfire with a balloon glass of your favorite brown hard liquor in hand, simply appreciating the peaceful moment and getting lost in your thoughts while staring at the flames. I’m loving it a lot thus far, after many weeks of testing it out.

    Absolutely divine.
A fantastic boozy opening sat on a bed of berries and exotic florals make this one of the funkiest and unqiue fragrances I own.

I dont know it just me..but the openin reminds me ‘coconut tobacco’ (caramelized/toasty like burnt coffe bean/candy one minute, tar/smoke like the one found in A*men note next ).Baraonda smells like a pouch of deluxe cured tobacco and whiskey-like scent from old barrels.
It just me or the dry down reminds the A*men DNA.

I would have named this scent “Pepsi-Leather” because that puts the nail on the head for me. It does have a liquor quality too so fans of Frapin, will want to find their way to this one. It is herbal without being spicy. Bright without being citrus and famously long lasting too.
A “man’s man” fragrance to be sure.

What a stunning release, smells intoxicating and lasts all day. On top of that it has very impressive development, from the photorealistic rendition of booze in the opening, and then the hard to describe but distinct phases in the mid and base, woody, boozy, fruity and floral all at the same time. Who would have thought Gualtieri would reopen the Nasomatto files, this time as a mercenary for a faceless corporation, and yet still come up with this stunning concoction that I dare say, may even be better than his previous stunning creations. Masculine perfumery truly has come a long way, almost compensating men for the lack of attention from the fashion industry.

Very similar to the boozy entries in the By Killian line. Very nice scent, but a bit of a disappointment from a house that usually knocks my socks off.
This is probably better than anything I’ve smelled from the By Killian lineup, so if boozy, sweet, almost honeyed woods are your thing, this could be the king.
Strong like, but a no-buy for me.

My nose is still not all that discerning for different notes, but I have sampled a lot to use as reference. The first thing I thought is that Baraonda reminds me of Frapin 1270. It has a similar booziness, but without the cocoa of 1270, making the oak more detectable. Swap the pineapple note in Frapin with equally smooth berries, and you have an idea. It has rounded edges and is well blended in a similar way, and stops just short of gourmand (less so than Frapin).
I’m also getting a resemblance to Byredo Pulp, but with more restrained fruity notes that are tempered by the musky notes, like they’ve been sitting out and collected dust. It’s been a couple hours now but the berry and musk notes have stayed while the oaky boozy notes have mostly disappeared

  47. :

Nasomatto Baraonda is a late 2016 release that seemingly ended up being one of the most hyped releases, purported as a boozy delight that was unlike previous Nasomatto releases.
It’s certainly boozy, but mainly in the sense of a lighter rum, not a heavier scotch or whiskey, so I was a little surprised from the note breakdown (which is only an estimation, granted) as well as other accounts of the fragrance, which led me to believe it’d be a bit deeper. Instead, I get mainly a rum and liqueur-ish vibe.
Performance, like other Nasomattos, is quite excellent, as should be the expectation of a niche extrait priced at over $6/ml retail.
It definitely walks the line between “like” and “love” for now, at least. Someone pointed out to me that it has some of the similar lighter booziness of By Kilian Apple Brandy and it does ring a bell slightly in that respect, of course, with the major addition of apple. But the point is true—namely, that Baraonda isn’t deeply resinous or reminiscent of dark, heavy spirits, and in that respect, that it’s a departure from some of the heavier beasts, and seemingly most popular entries, of the Nasomatto line (Black Afgano, Pardon, Duro) means Baraonda could be viewed as a refreshing new offering. I for one need to try it a few more times.

Years ago, while in New Orleans, my husband and I were celebrating the end of a three hour tapas experience with a decadent black chocolate torte cake accompanied by a double shot of headily fragrant, semi-sweet, caramel-ly oaken Jameson whiskey over one ice cube. The perfect dessert, tapas or not.
Last November, visiting New Orleans once again, a friend and I were sampling perfumes at Avery (niche perfume purveyor extraordinaire), where my first sniff of Nasomatto Baraonda swept me away like a category five. No shy intro. No courtship ritual. No polite two-step. Every component in Baraonda is immediately familiar, a few readily identifiable, but good luck discerning them all, as Nasomatto makes it a point not to disclose proprietary elements. It’s not often that I do not deliberate when purchasing a perfume, but there was no hesitation here.
Yuletide, a month later, that same perfume sniffing compatriot in New Orleans sends a fabulous gift package, the premier features being a bottle of Jameson Gold Reserve Whiskey and a box of 83% divine dark chocolates. Again, a jigger of whiskey over one ice cube, following a light melting of dark cacao on the tongue… I sat bolt upright in my comfy chair, exclaiming “Baraonda!!! Holy %@#&!!! It’s Baraonda!!”
Well… at least to *my* nose and taste buds anyway. Look up the description of Jameson Gold Reserve, and you’ll find a very close impression of this fabulous perfume.
Sláinte! Cheers! Salud! Santé! Prost! Kanpai! Gānbēi!

Definitely a nominee for 2016 release of the year for me.
First of all, the performance on this is off the roof. Every single time i was wearing my dab sample, it consistently overpowered whatever i was wearing that day in terms of whiffs and projection. I can only imagine what spraying will do.
I didn’t want to research the notes in this, i wanted to keep it fun, so here it goes:
Whisky in the opening, shifting into caramel and woods afterwards. I also detect some flowers at some point during the development mixing with all that whiskey-led balsamic goodness.
Please don’t let my caramel mention take you far, this is nothing like pure malt.
It never gets too sweet, nor too sharp, nor too woody, nor too alcoholic (hence the boozy theme). It’s just VERY well blended, period.
    Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

yup. i love this one. absolutely love it.
it’s animalic, but not too much, leathery-musky. this offsets the boozy whiskey elements, which are joined by the earthy-balsamic elements of the ambrette seeds.
look, it’s aromachemicalled to the eyelids, but we all know this is the case with so many perfumes, we kinda accept it.
    love this one.
    love love LOVE it.

Scent – creamy woods, berries & rum.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the colder months, day or night.
Projection – I did get noticed, it garners compliments.
    Longevity – I get 6hrs consistently.

    “Baraonda Nasomatto”
Its opened with big blast of boozy aroma maybe mix of rum with wine , then gets more woodsy , little bit creamy and I think its something like oak wood in the composition or kind of liqueur barrel smell puts in the bottle !
Baraonda its such a niche natural boozy scent , shares some similarities with “La Tierra Del Rayo” which I had tried before and have a decant of , which Impressed me to write a review about it, in my opinion La Tierra shares with Baraonda that same kind of boozy chemicals but then La- Tierra goes in another side and Character like something bold spicy like Gingerbread in your face with strong oakwood base note ! otherwise Baraonda its smoother more refined transparent kind of boozy scent , creamy ambery caramelized well blended composition .
I am a big fun of boozy , deep fruits or dried fruit notes in the perfumes , So I dig out Baraonda as one of the most unique and interesting booze scent in the niche perfumery .
P.S . Baraonda has not that strength and power which has Black Afgano or Pardon “beast-mode” charterer , but its enough to be noticed with very good to excellent lasting po
