Description

Classical Azzaro Pour Homme fragrance from 1978 represents a symbol of seduction, sensuality and Italian elegance. The Intense version of this fragrance was first launched in 1992. In 2015, Azzaro presents a new Azzaro Pour Homme Intense edition.

This new release reportedly emphasizes sensuality, allure and refinement with fine ingredients and Eau de Parfum concentration. Its aromatic – woody – fougere composition opens with accords of cassia cinnamon with Laos. Vetiver from Haiti with its smoky, wet and dry, cool and warm characteristics makes a hallmark in the heart, along with brandy accord. Tonka bean from Venezuela and amber form the base.

The face of the campaign is actor Ian Somerhalder. The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum Intense.
The nose behind this fragrance is Olivier Pescheux.

Azzaro Pour Homme Intense is the perfect hybrid of Barbershop and Gourmand mixed into one smell…I can still smell the original azzaro lingering in the background but with new added features it is so freaking good strong pungent and smacking your face 9.0…….Strength and Longevity 8.0 Plus

Ok,Este perfume me lleva al pasado cuando entraba a la barberia y en aquel tempo se podia fumar en la barberia y uno salia con ese olor a humo de cigarrillo y after shave. Me encanta este perfume. Es solo mi opinion.

This has a mature feel to it. 35 and up on this one. It resembles the original version so it does have a mature or old Manish vibe to it

    Wow Aphrodisiac alert!
I just sniffed this today, it’s a cinnamon and cognac bomb (!) and if you know about cinnamon you’ll know it’s properties as an aphrodisiac and sexual tonic.
The strong opening may put some people off but after a short while I think most people will find it hard to keep themselves from taking sniffs of it’s spicy amber goodness.
Edit:be sure to try on your skin, smelled better on mine than on the paper strip 😉
Edit:after a few hours this has become a rather close to the skin scent on me and is a bit soapy-spicy. Not a beast mode for sure but nice.

Very great scent, sweet, boozy and cinnamon, I love it so much, very good choice for Fall and Winter, performance is great too

If you love cinnamon in your fragrances done in a manly way, this is a must. APHI features more of an autumn kind of cinnamon rather than a sweet cinnamon like One Million, which makes this juice a lot more masculine. The whiskey/brandy note in Azzaro PH Intense ensures it’s one bad ass fragrance and clearly a man’s cologne. It’s absolutely perfect for a breezy autumn day just when the foliage on the tops of trees is starting to colorize the hillside, the morning air gets a little chilly, and of course pumpkin spice, apple orchards, football and Sam Adams Octoberfest. Ahh, nothing like the autumn season in this part of the world. If you love the unforgettable aroma of a New England autumn morning while wearing original Azzaro PH, I guarantee you’ll love this spicy, boozy, fougere.
However, just one warning, expect the wife or girlfriend to want to snuggle and cuddle when you spray on this bad boy. It’s such a warm, comforting and masculine fragrance she’ll love it on you.

too much cinnamon for me.from start to drydown

It has a manly touch. It is sweet, but with serious trait. Also, It has an alcoholic vibe. The opening can be a little off putting with that boozy vibe, but the dry down is really beautiful. Sadly, it seems not to project on this instance, but still noticeable. I enjoy it when I wear it, but it is not very often.

This is Azzaro Pour Homme for a younger audience. Someone in their 20’s up to their 50’s could wear this. This has the DNA of the original but with alot of sweet cinnamon. If you’re a fan of the original Azzaro PH and all of the other variations give this one a try. Its a more modern and sweeter variation of the classic but still has the backbone of the original. It’s masculine, robust and smells really good. I give this a 9.2/10

if You´re looking for real Azzaro pour Homme Intense, get Worth pour Homme Haute Concentracion…WpHHC smells like a classic Azzaro pH on steroids, at least on my skin

Why Azzaro decided to release this as Azzaro PH Intense is beyond me!
The earlier intense smells exactly like PH but, you guessed it, actually more INTENSE. This, however, reminds me more of Halston’s Z14 than the classic and great Azzaro PH.
Don’t get this if you want a stronger, richer Azzaro PH. Find the earlier release instead…Worth the search and you’ll absolutely LOVE it!

This one shine on a very cold winter!!! It have a “Azzaro” vibe for sure! The only downside for me it’ the name. They should call it, “Azzaro Hot”! Nice real cinnamon feel by the way!!

The opening is warm and the color of the juice edt is representative of the smell. The AzzaroPH DNA is present from the beginning.
The note pyramid is incomplete. Mentally add the outline of classic AzzaroPH beneath the listed notes. It is a safe warm cinnamon amber cool weather scent, but like Azzaro PH L’eau, the barbershop essence from the original AzzaroPH is there when you breathe deeply.
You are visiting your regular barbershop, Azzaro. This is the cold weather nighttime special occasion version of the usual scent. Very warm and inviting, but still with THAT identifying marker. Great date version of APH.

I bought this at duty free one day and only got to wear it once. Sadly, I had left it at a relatives’ house. Fast forward two years later and I was reunited with this fragrance! Maybe my nose changed or I am more appreciative of notes in a fragrance, but damn this smells good!
Azzaro Pour Homme Intense opens very bold and robust. Cinnamon, vetiver and brandy with a bit of that Original Azzaro pour homme mixed in for good measure. Now, the sweet spicy opening is interesting and it makes me think of chewing gum, a bit of Big Red to be precise. Just when the semi sweet boozy spiciness begins to get cloying the amber and tonka kick in to calm this fragrance down a bit. Now the cinnamon is the real star of the show in this scent. Cinnamon is a note I appreciate in fragrances but it all depends on how it is rendered and in this case it is rendered perfectly, as a talc style powder of cinnamon. This minor twist takes the Azzaro DNA and ratchets it up a bit giving it some youthfulness or an edge. This scent is very linear and performs a solid 4-5 hours. This scent comes off clean not too soapy but very much a fougere. APHI is not groundbreaking or original but it is quality and is something someone could wear regularly.
This scent is fairly masculine and perfect for the 25 and up crowd. This can be worn anywhere or anytime and would work well in the office rotation. Think cold weather, fall or winter to early spring nights, would be perfect times to wear this fragrance. Give this scent a spray when you’ve got a case of nose fatigue and need to break away from something clean or citrusy.

I’m writing this review having original Azzaro PH (new formulation) on one arm and Intense on the other.
Azzaro PH Intense is an interesting warm-spicy scent, and does not smell like the original at initial spray. First things first, if you don’t like warm boozy cinnamon, you will just hate it. It opens up with a warm cinnamon explosion, with a hint of booziness (whiskey or rum). I also notice some mastic gum kind of note in the background.
Shortly after, that explosion of cinnamon settles, but it’s still there. You start to think like, “Oh okay, now I can tell something…just something might be similar to original Azzaro PH” which I think is the vetiver. But the cinnamon is the main actor here. It’s not a fresh scent, and I think the name Azzaro PH “Intense” is not suitable to this fragrance. It has a character on its own, and definetely not the Intense version of the original PH.
I will try to layer my Azzaro PH with a spray or two of Intense and very curious of the result. Perhaps that will lead to what one may think as Azzaro PH Intense! Or even better, maybe it will get close to that much hyped vintage Azzaro PH!
Overall, this is not groundbreaking – and can be worn by also younger crowd easily. Btw, it has moderate sillage and longevity, worse than original PH to be honest. But that’s also due to Intense being more round and rich.
Fun Fact: I got a nice reaction from my brother, after he hated this fragrance. I sprayed on my arm and let him take a sniff, he just hated all the way. But this was a sniff up close, after 5-10 minutes.
The next day, I sprayed Azzaro PH Intense, and I was walking in the house. My brother shouted from the kitchen: “Wtf, what is that scent it smells amazing wow!”
And there you go, the power of sillage and how a scent can change when it lingers in the air!

smells like vintage Azzaro. More citrus, rounder and deper than the actual Azzaro classic version, average performance!

I’m not sure why Azzaro made this a flanker when it could’ve survived on its own. It has nothing to do with original APH. The opening is a large dose of sweetness, almost cola-like. That’s the worst part for me, but thankfully it transitions well and ultimately ends with an addictive drydown that to my nose, is reminiscent of D&G The One. My first test run didn’t do well with performance; I was in and out all day and really didn’t get much out of it. However, I’ve used it on less active occasions and it’s held for a respectable amount of time. Don’t expect a sillage monster, it’s pretty tame which will make it a perfect date night or close encounter type of scent. Use it by the fireplace while drinking an old fashioned.
    Grade: B
Update: I’ve been able to wear this more often now that temps are cold. Let me tell you, this one really shines in the cold temperatures and really gives you a sense of warmth with that cinnamon swirling around. Once the vetiver kicks in, it is simply irresistible. I got a respectable 6-7 hours yesterday from 3 sprays. Not beastly sillage, but enough personal sillage to get gentle wafts without placing my nose in my shirt collar. Not sure if this is discontinued, but Azzaro really blew it with the marketing and product design.

this thing is a badass. Make no mistake, this is not one of them nice pretty and sweet spicy fragrances like the other cinnamon things you might find. This thing will punch in the face soon as you smell it, and you WILL like or else. It projects and stays on you for a very long time. I detect a hint of the original Azzaro when it opens, but it goes in it’s own direction after a few minutes. Personally I think that’s great. I like the idea of flankers reminding me of the original but having their own personality. You must like cinnamon is you get this. It’s a very strong cinnamon from the opening and the boozy vetiver mix just comes in very well done. Enjoy.

Recently I was traveling and bought this guy with couple of other fragrances at Paris duty free. I have been missing my old friend APH as he is of a genre of Rive Gauche or PRPH etc. But reformulation almost killed it, I still love it, credit goes to their price on discounters like fragrancenet. I always carry a travel atomizer, so never run out. OK, so coming back to APHI EDP, huh… what a joke. It has better longevity when compared to new APH but may be just couple of hours, like 7 to 8 hours max while you can still sniff it on your skin at 10 hours if you really dig your nose. So, not bad but I was expecting more from an edp as far as sillage and projection goes along with longevity. However what makes me wonder is the note breakdown, how on earth it could smell that close to APH with just 5 notes? But the fact is that it is very close to APH, not exactly the same but carries the same vibe. And I love it just for that reason. So folks, if you are missing longevity on APH, try this, you’ll love it. I recommend this young fellow, consider he is great grandson of monsieur APH. My observation:-
    1. Smell: 5/10 nothing new that’s why
    2. Sillage: 7/10
    3. Projection : 7.5/10
    4. Longevity : 8/10 – around 8 hours
    5. Value for money : 8/10
Love makes like live… keep sniffing!!!

Warm and Somber, yet clean and sensual. Beautiful combination of sweetness from cinnamon and bitterness from Cognac, A hint of old school AZZARO POUR HOMME with delicately made modern vibe. Perfectly suites fall and winter day and night mostly with formal wear. I have examined all AZZARO POUR HOMME new flankers and I prefer this one above all of them.

in perfume industry sometimes some mid brand produce some perfume that smell really best quality and niche.azzaro pour homme intence is a good example of this case.the boozy cinnamon smell that project and last decent. best purchase after some bad purchase that i had before.10/10

I get some similarities with Azzaro pour Homme for first 15 minutes as well as with SL Arabie (very distant similarity btw). Then it becomes too sweet for my taste and I must admit I can wear this only during winter. However the smell itself is nice (and still superior to many current releases), just not for me.

totaly in the lack of APH spirit and vibe. Generic, kind of “,everywhere” smell. No connection with APH and totaly something else from the old, vintage king. Even the sample will become a giveaway.

Though the scent itself is not bad, I have a serious problem with what Azzaro is doing here.
The juice is simply a sweet warm scent in the same vein as One Million or Spice Bomb. It is very well done and smells really good and I do believe it will make a good choice for a night out. It’s basically a trendy product which may have a little drop of the Azzaro PH basenotes in the background, but that little drop doesn’t really matter in the overall smell.
The problem that I have with what Azzaro is doing here is that I do not understand why they lunch a trendy product under the name of a classic scent? I’m pretty sure the fashionistas and the young clientele who are into this do not care about a classic name. From other hand, people who are fans of classic scents will not care about a trendy scent like this! Perfumistas who like this family of scents (Warm Oriental Spicy) will probably go with Chergui and the like.
I’m really wondering…couldn’t they lunch this as a new product?!! This juice as a new perfume with a celebrity as it’s face could have been a hit; with such a strategy they could attract new customers and at the same time keep the fans of classic Azzaro intact! But with what they did, I’m not sure if they attracted that many new customers but I’m sure they disappointed a number of fans.

Azzaro always doing good perfumes with a fair price, this was a pleasant surprise.
Opens aromatic with a slight traditional DNA, but in seconds appears an intense cinnamon, predominates throughout fragrance, but it appears a reconciled difference, I feel a tone like the end of the whiskey in the glass, something like liqueur, very good.
Continuing in heart, vetiver appears next, giving an light air mineral woody and semi smoky environment mixed with cinnamon, something boozy also, great scent.
At the base, in drying. appears a dna of Azzaro Elixir, amber with tonka, little synthetic and sweet, but good!
    Worth a try for sure!
    Rating: 8.5-9/10

I like this one but not quite enough to get it. Not yet anyway. I thought this was what I was looking for. This one has it’s good points though. I wanted something with a strong cinnamon opening.
I like that it is a modern twist on the old Azzaro’s. Less complex, but I feel more updated.
I can see how those who are a fan of the old ones will be disappointed in this one because it does not have all the nuances that the old ones had. The old ones have more notes and were much more complex with personality. I remember the old ones being quite strong, and dare I say it, (and I know I will be crucified for this), but something 1970’s old man. I don’t want to smell like a grandpa, well not in my 30’s anyway.
I enjoyed the Vanilla and Spices throughout. It is a beautiful fragrance.
Funny enough, as I wore this sample through the morning, and the opening top notes disappeared, I started to notice a light version of that old man smell from the previous Azzaro. It was like it went from 22 years old to 72 years old within a couple of hours. The top notes are my favourite part of this fragrance. It is remembering the past in a modern way. And I do enjoy it better then the old ones, but I could literally feel a grey chest hair start to sprout on my left pec as I walked through the mall.

Really bad decision on Azzaro’s part to release another frag with the exact same name as their hallmark frag from 1992. It would be one thing if it were a re-release of the same frag, but the note pyramid in the 2015 version couldn’t be more different. The original Azzaro Pour Homme Intense with its trademark anise note was in my opinion the best thing ever to come out of this house. Now trying to source it online is next to impossible with a new release sharing the exact same name. Could they not have gone with a different adjective? Extreme maybe? Ultimate? Supreme? C’mon folks.

  33. :

    5 out of 5

To begin with I adore this one. Believe me, you have to try it with an open mind and not expecting the original smell or anything alike since this is not a flanker, not this time.
It opens with slight Cinnamon surrounded by Vetiver, which are quite unconventional in the top notes. Immediately you sense the Tonka-beans in the undertones.
But what really thrills me is the hint of liquor that you can actually make out, a kind of finest and smoky brandy or cognac, which is both complex and fine, with a bouquet of the best Rémy Martin (it is hard to say that since I am a big fan of Islay Single Malts Scotch whisky!!!)
It is actually surprisingly good! Awesome, very beautiful, amazing. It is warm and sensual, aromatic-fougère-woody-poudery, smoky. In my opinion Tonka-beans and Amber make it so smooth, a bit sweet and a bit dry, but in a pleasant manner. I think it has nothing to do with the previous releases, I didn’t find any similarity with other APH.
Ultimately, It gives me a very good vibe. I am proud to give to 9/10, absolutely!!!

  34. :

I dont usually write reviews but I felt I needed to justify this one. To begin with I love this one. You must try it with an open mind not one that is expecting the original smell. It opens with slight cinnamon enveloped in vetiver. Immediately you sense the dark tonka in the undertones. What really wows me is the hint of brandy that you can actually make out! Overall ,I think this is fantastic. What else could you expect from the makers of diphtyque and mont blanc perfumes?
    8.5/10
    Cheers!

If you like Azzaro pour Homme, then this one is for you. It definetely has the APH dna but presented in a more modern way. I love the cinnamon note but i just wish it lasted a bit more. A warm and cosy scent! A fine attempt by Azzaro. Already got a bottle.

  37. :

    5 out of 5

I fully agree with CDGfan. Has nothing to do with the original Intense.
Just plain over sugared apple pie. With maybe a hint of the original (regular) Azzaro in the background somewhere.
Well, what to expect from the creators who brought you 1Million and A*Men.
Since ultrasweet is still the fashion right now, everyone wants to make a few bucks…
    Classic Azzaro lovers, stay away.

Something about it gives me flashbacks. It reminds me of something old school. I like it, sort of vintage. Maybe not like the original but there is something retro about it. Not a love, but definitely a “like”.
As a whole, I understand the frustration in the below comment, about IFRA throwing together a bunch of aroma chemicals. I have noticed that in the market right now. There’s an impression.

  40. :

    4 out of 5

I agree with GianGG (see below). At the beginning it appears to be very spicey, but then it becomes similar to the original Azzaro Homme that we all know and love. There is no improvement here, so what is the raison d’etre of this one? (Making money, of course, but just sometimes I wish that classic brands would be treated as if they would actually mean something to the owners of the trademark.)

Just got a sample of this one yesterday and it’s definitely worth while if you like cinnamon in your colognes, it stands out very well for me on my skin. I don’t believe I’ve ever tried the original so I can’t make any comparisons to that one, but this one has made me interested in it so I will try it when I have a chance and make a comparison then. Overall I give this one a 8/10 because I like cinnamon alot and this one does it quite well imo and isn’t a bit strong like spice bomb for example not that thats a bad one.

  42. :

This fragrance is an absolute joke.
It has nothing to do with the original or the intense version in the 90s , which was infinitely better.
This is a shit fragrance to put it lightly. What I get is an ambery apple pie note mixed with literally what smells like Mcdonalds ketchup and that acidic note permeates the life of the fragrance.
    0/10
The Designer fragrance world has literally gone down the drain.
It seems the goal is to release a flanker every year by throwing some
IFRA approved aromachemicals together , put it in a catchy bottle and sell that shit till it hits bargain bin retailers. People are not stupid, they know when they are getting a inferior product.

If there already IS an Azzaro Pour Homme Intense from a few years back, why make another with the exact same name but distinctly different notes? You’re creating a nomenclature nightmare, much as happened with the constantly modified names given to Narciso Rodriguez’ frags for men.
    Why?

  44. :

    4 out of 5

    Update,
Since my last entry, I have been using the intense version and it’s definitely more of a herbal/spicy aromatic blast. It quickly changes to a slight hint of Azzaro you know. In the end if Azzaro called it something else it wouldn’t be under the shadow of the original version which is hard act to beat.
I enjoy intense fragrance, I notice that almost every cologne coming out is now labeled intense to attract more business. The reality Is that the original version is far more intense juice with more of a spicier cooler vib.
Now aside from the terminology I do appreciate the quality of this fragrance.
When I first sprayed on my skin I pick up sage with more warmer vib from amber. Finally when it settles there’s no mistake that it’s APH, I really enjoy this fragrance so I’m going to pick up a bottle even thou after awhile both version’s are almost identical. Azzaro intense is very high quality 7.5/10
