Quite interesting and unusual scent these days. Very soapy, in the same way as bvlgary bloc. Smells of ginger to me.

I’m not sure how I feel about this one. I do like it, but do I like it enough to want a full bottle of it.. I don’t know yet. I have 3 other Mugler perfumes which I really love (angel muse, angel sucree and alien essence absolue). This one is a little strange to my nose, I can really understand the comments about the mentholated effect. It has a little alien DNA in it too. I keep coming back to this one as I find it at least interesting.

Reading reviews won’t help you. What a range of impressions! You can’t make any conclusions is it finally green or woody or sweet Aura? It depends on you and probably reflects your own aura. Lol.
In summer its more white floral, think of Michael Kors. In winter it’s more woody, think of Tom Ford. That’s how I try to sum up what I have experienced.

First hour of the perfume is overwhelming and hyonotized me. I am smitten by Aura. After drydown and mix well with my body chemistry, it smell really good but so familiar. Aura remind me of Far Away from Avon, almost identical twin. The difference is so small, I believe Aura is a bit stronger than Far Away with better projection. Somehow, better wear it lightly as too much of aura might cause dizzy for me. I pass this one as I been wearing Far Away for years during my teenage. Sorry Mugler, I don’t like wearing copycat. I can only appreciate masterpiece, something that never been smell before.

Reminds me of bartending school :
    Mint Julep
    Grasshopper
    or Creme De menthe
    Take your pick.
A not so mature fragrance with tenacity and decent sillage but the compliments stop there from my end.
At first spray hinting towards a Pino Sylvestre type scent but goes GIRLY HIGH SCHOOL in the dry down.
Maybe good for “girls ” 25 and under.
    NO for MEN.

Its like what you’d get if you served soft-scoop vanilla ice cream inside an incense shop. Really.
I can’t say its gourmand, but damn if that wasn’t the mental image I got from this one. Its so zany, smoky, sweet, a little medicinal, and WEIRD. Mugler scents are fantastic for being so out there and I’ve liked what I’ve tried so far (Alien, Womanity, this and the EDT). I enjoyed my test of this in store, definitely worth exploring again at a future date.

Aura is a deceptive perfume. A real tragedy: It starts well and ends badly. Just sprayed gives the best of itself: a sensual and intense intertwining of vanilla and orange blossom. After a few minutes each note is intertwined and boom, a talcum and rough explosion. A real neutral soap. It reminds me of the kryptonite (color apt) with Superman. It is, in fact, a scent that initially intrigues me and then throws me to the carpet. A color for this perfume: red. A state of mind: Dangerous. A celebrity: Cleopatra.

I just want to begin by saying no perfume has ever smelled delightful when left on my clothes. If I pick up a shirt from my dirty laundry basket that I wore while wearing Aura, I get a waft of something that is vanillic and warm, but sweet in a different way, that is more clean than gourmand, and not soapy or detergent-y.
On my skin it opens bright and greenish (rhubarb),however not leafy or herbal. I think orange blossom rounds out the sweet vanilla. Somebody said “tiger liana” is a note used in apple scented bubble baths. I could see that, the clean creamy fruit shampoo smell. I am a huge fan of Alien, I hope to always have some on hand, but Aura has earned just as much love. I also must say I admire Mugler for knowing how to bring the boys to the yard. I have received very enthusiastic compliments wearing this one, including from my husband and a couple presentable guys in the street, lol.

i love this fragrance and i have planned to buy it very soon…
well this scent is unusual…a bit strange…but there’s something fascinating about it…. it is potent…and i enjoy it very much… I’d live to smell like that…it could be a signature scent…based on its uniqueness…

  10. :

This is not an apparently vanilic fragrance despite this being listed foremostly in the notes. This is vegetal-fruity, sweet and sour. There is also a mentholated aspect to it in the same vein as Vicks vapour rub. This dries down into a very sweet sandalwood after some hours, which I don’t love, but can definitely tolerate.
If you are struggling to reach a definite conclusion based on the lack of consensus in the comments about what this could possibly smell like, and if you believe that you like novelty but hate both Angel and Alien, I think this fragrance deviates far enough from both in the right direction that you should definitely try Aura.

What is it with Mugler scents? I look at the main accords and the notes, and I think, no way I will like this. Then I spray my tester, I am so so surprised at how much I do. I tested Aura and my reaction to this perfume was so similar to the one I had with Alien (ok, I don’t like Angel.) I liked Alien so much, I immediately bought a bottle, THEN also bought the absolue version. I don’t know if I would buy a FB of Aura, since I don’t reach for this type of scent often enough… but I surely won’t mind being gifted it.

Beautiful Bottle Design! If only the fragrance matched the bottle.
I hate to say this, because I sooo looked forward to the launch of this scent. When I tried “Aura” in the department store, it gave me the distinct impression of NyQuil Cold and Flue syrup. Not the sweet cherry kind, they give kids…. the adult kind that smells like medicinal synthetic cherry, and goes down leaving a sharp metallic alcohol aftertaste.
-Smelling this brought back too many unpleasant memories of being home, with a bad cold, as a kid. Not for me.

I really adore Mugler scents. Chanel and Mugler are my top two favorite houses; when I feel fancy I reach for Chanel, when I feel “me” I reach for Mugler.. there is just something so unique about Mugler compositions. For the most part his fragrances are comprised of few notes but used in dizzying amounts and the result is a surprising depth and complexity. One second you get one note, then your nose is overwhelmed and you smell the next note.. and it is positively addicting. There is always a component that is “different” and reels you in.. Womanity has fleshy fig, Angel has that polarizing patchouli, Alien has the otherwordly jasmine.. Aura has this strange rhubarb note that was so off-putting at first but once you get over the shock of it.. it is genius.
Orange blossom/vanilla is a super common and of course yummy combination of notes that runs rampant nowadays in the perfume world. It is literally everywhere. I have tons of perfumes with that duo.. it’s lovely, I can see why it’s so popular. That accord is present here in Aura but twisted up in the humid green, somewhat medicinal and minty rhubarb and turned into something so very different despite the familiarity of the orange blossom/vanilla.
I wore Aura last night to bed and was deciding on whether or not I liked it.. I was waiting for my husband to comment on how weird I imagined I smelled, and was shocked when he leaned in and proclaimed how much he loved whatever I was wearing. To his nose, Aura is fruity. To mine, it is vegetal, foresty.. vaguely reminiscent of Cacharel Eden but far less shrill. I dig weird scents but not everyone else does and yes, Aura is weird.. but apparently weird in a good way. When I woke up in the morning, I was still encased in my aura of Aura.. and it was that same orange blossom/vanilla but the green was decidedly more settled and warm. The beauty of this fragrance is truly in the drydown. It didn’t smell “weird” anymore.. it smelled natural, lived in.. vaguely sweet but warm and fuzzy.
Anyway.. I didn’t mean to write a novel but I was so pleasantly surprised and enchanted by Aura I guess I had a lot to say! I would not consider this a safe blind buy.. secure yourself a sample of this one, especially if you are a Mugler fan.. this is a true Mugler through and through. Strange, intriguing, and of course long-lasting and LOUD! 🙂

I have this and I like it. However , I would only do 2 sprays next time cause it’s pretty strong , and it lasts quite a few hours. I could not identify the intense aroma maybe it’s the bourbon vanilla…Nothing medicinal about this , I would rate it as a good fragrance.

I’m not being hateful in my review, since I’ve always loved that Mugler released unique and quality perfumes and “Aura” makes no difference in this regard. But this is the first perfume that literally made me sick to my stomach! Sprayed it on my skin in Sephora, the first notes were minty and I really loved that it was such a weird, but nice fragrance! The next hours were nice as well, I could smell a bit of vanilla, while the mint was still there. Went to sleep with it still on my arm and woke up excited to see if the Mugler lasting power would he the same with this perfume. Indeed it didn’t disappoint, but unfortunately the scent left on my arm was this ghastly aroma that slightly resembles a combination of industrial glue and burnt diesel fuel. I am not overreacting, it made me feel nauseous and I couldn’t bare to smell anything else for the rest of the day. I now probably have a slight case of PTSD, since whenever I can smell it around me I have a similar, but smaller reaction to it.
As a conclusion: this is definitely not a blind buy and I strongly recommend buying it only after testing it on your own skin and letting it rest for some hours. I am sure that on the right skin (and with the right nose), Aura really shines.

    Magic potion!!!
I love a lot the fact that this fragrance is not like many others. It’s unique. Because there are too many alike fragrances now.
    And it’s interesting, catchy!
Maybe it can seems medical or too herbal first. But then it starts intriguing. Main notes are rhubarb leaf, green notes and vanilla.
I respect this brand a lot. And this fragrance has a good quality, too.

this is so lovely. I really appreciate Mr. Mugler for giving us such big scents. He is like a big story writer but instead of a pen uses perfume ingredients.
I don’t even know to explain it. It’s dynamic but like the speed of light. A static dynamicity.
I think if you know the sensation when you just stay suspended in the air with your parachute. It feels kinda like that. It’s like you opened a door to another world where they were waiting for you. Their light is like a thick fluffy haze like you touch the clouds of eden. Ahh, I really love it. I’m also a fan of Eden, never understood the hate and usually, I can understand why some people hate some perfumes even if I love them.

Its very different perfume. I DO get a lot of compliments! But for me it smells too Rhubarb, and green, i DONT smell vanilla on me(unfortunately). I use it not as often as i thought i would. Id give 3/5 just because its long lasting, different and as i said, i do get lot of compliments. Not my fave, but i would recommend trying it before you buy it.

Opens very strangely; odd and seems unisex. Then it seems very refreshing, wintry and Christmassy. It lasts forever, and dries down very sweet and warm – like honey. Impressive. And the bottle is BOMB.

I used to be a huge fan of Thierry Mugler. I was around when Angel got launched and oh my…! We’ve never smelled something like that before! I can’t even describe to those who weren’t around yet, how different it was. Especially after all this popular watery/ozonic scents from th’ ’90’s. Angel was a bomb in the ozonic athmosphere of the era. I can assure you, you stood out and got noticed whilst wearing Mugler back then.
For me it was the start of a long love affair with Angel and all its flankers. And although I grew out of it, I will always embrace this perfume for the unique masterpiece it is. There’s still nothing like it.
The same goes up for Alien. Not really my cup of tea but a very reconisable statement scent.
Followed by Womanity, who, to my nose, is quite revolting. But once again, you won’t find anything like it. So ‘different’ is the signature of the house Mugler.
And that’s the hook. Cause I don’t want to offend anyone, but personally I knew a few women who buy Mugler perfumes because they so desparetly want to be different.
But there’s something like ‘trying to hard to be different’, you know? And in my opinion, that’s what happend with Aura.
This is how I experienced it:
First note: 100% the smell of a pharmacy!
Then it’s like Scotty beams me up from the pharmacy to a minty hamman. Interesting… .
But a lot is going on here, cause suddenly the rhubarb pops out. Suprising. Quite nice.
From this point, the perfume is getting sweeter, while the minty, green notes linger in the background.
Quite an interesting combination, as you would expect from a Mugler perfume.
But then, something in the background tells me this is a family member of Alien. They’re not closely related, but there’s a connection. But I’m afraid it’s this pretty odd, slightly dusty and at the same time quite sharp note that puts me off Alien.
Although it looks like that note is working better in this one… .
    So I wait…
But on my skin, it’s like this perfume keeps on struggeling. It can’t decide what’s it going to be.
The green and woody notes got overtaken by the sweet notes as it dries down and whoops, there’s that medicanal note again, but way sweeter this time.
And like you could already gather from my story, I’m no stranger to this ‘Mugler-oddness’. But I must admit I’m getting a bit sick of it.
Until farther notice, I’m afraid they’ve reached their limits when it comes to making rather weird combo’s to create a unique scent.
No, you can’t really pin Aura down. And I mean in every way. It’s quite hard to describe what it smells like. But I also can’t say it’s really good or really bad. It’s just a little odd. And although a little weirdness is in the DNA of most statement perfumes, the slight weirdness alone isn’t enought to call it a good fragrance.
Sillage and longevity seem to be less than any other Mugler perfume. Which only confirms my idea of ‘nice try but nope, no winner.’
P.S. I smelled it on a friend the other day. Maybe she sprayed it on just before she entered the room, but the first, weird blast was still very noticable. And this time, there was also a smokey hint.. But not in a good way, it smelled rather burned than smoked, hard to explain but it wasn’t pleasant. So perhaps body chemistry plays a huge roll in this one, just like with most Mugler-perfumes.

Very deep green herbal dampy sauna wellness smell. Very lovely aromatic und relaxing. I do utterly love this smell in my thai massage center and i swear the mix of their aroma essential massage oils in the air smells exactly like this perfume.

Unusual like Thierry Mugler usually, and that’s what i love about this house. Unique and original, not like every other scent in the market nowadays. I suggest you try before buy, because every Mugler perfume is not for everyone, you need to have a strong and bold character to love them. And the scent itself, i can’t tell the notes, they blend perfectly, i just loveeee it.. Very mysterious in a sexy way, like a dark unicorn shining in a dark night. #veryme
Now after wearing this couple hours, the drydown is very lovely, like a fairy in the black forest, under the northern star in a chilly night. You can imagine all those magic creature in your fantasy world. That’s the impression i can feel.. Love love love

The first time I tried this unique perfume I got a sour green smell and I honestly didn’t understand the love people have for her.
The second time I wore her, it was a completly different experience. This time I could understand the love for her even though I didn’t fall in love, My experience was very different to the first time.
On the second wear, yes it was still a green, sour opening, a elixir type scent that reminded me of a liquor we used in cocktails, This morphed into a sweet creamy green scent that is truly unique and I can’t believe I’m going to say it but it’s very beautiful.
She is nothing like Eden but she is beautiful in the same way as Eden is beautiful. And if I was to compare it to Eden in any way at all, it’s because they both smell green, and as like in the bottle colours, Eden is a lighter green, swampy, jungle green, while Aura is a bright dark alien, off the planet green.
Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t smell like Eden but I definitely imagine someone who appreciates one could appreciate the other.
Both start of surprisingly odd and drydown to something truly unique and beautiful.
I’d say a sample before buy type scent particularly if green notes aren’t your thing but very much worth a try if you like something a little different.
I do understand some of the reviews that don’t like this juice but I now understand very much the reviews that love her. She is a sweet, green beauty that takes a bit to really understand.

Fresh/candy sweet/floral top note, dries down to a candy, sweet and floral vanilla base. I don’t sense much of a middle note but, absolutely love this fragrance.

Works surprisingly Well on my skin. Notes are a bit off on what I` m used to. From first sniff till now our relationship is just getting better day by day. Im afraid that This is like true love.. Addictive. Longevity and silage is as in other Muglers amazing !
I think This one is either love og hate… But definetely a love story for me

I’m trying to love this fragrance but it’s not a love affair just yet. Or not even a serious “like”. The minty/medicinal note is throwing me off. Even in the drydown I can detect it. This definitely lasts all day though, which I do appreciate.

This did not work on my skin at all. It sounds so lovely on many of you, but on me it smelled like fennel leaves, alcohol-y vanilla extract, a smear of dried up toothpaste, and that rotting rhubarb you never picked in your backyard, that you then mowed over hoping for the best, but in reality just smeared fetid, sour celery all over the place. Oddly enough it never settled in, and it smelled just as unpleasant in the evening when I was scrubbing it off, as it did when I blindly sprayed it on in Ulta at 11 am. Not that it really matters, but my nose blind husband also HATED it. And, he can’t smell anything. Boo, the bottle is gorgeous and I am normally a Mugler fan. Must just be something dumb about me.

I bought this perfume out of curiosity and it took me a while to finally decide to buy it because of the negative reviews here. I was kinda of afraid to try it… how silly I was! This is a delicious scent, the green and the vanilla are absolutely perfect together, so unique. Also, this perfume is only harsh if you apply too much, two sprays are more than enough, it has good longevity and sillage. To me Aura has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the smell of corpse or sick people. I don’t get any real toothpaste smell either, I believe not even Thierry Mugler with all his innovative, pioneers scents would release a perfume that smells like plain toothpaste. Mint is something that I was expecting because of the reviews, but the green in this scent is not from mint, I don’t get mint here, it’s something else. The opening is kinda of odd, although not as much as you would expect by reading the reviews. This phase lasts a few minutes, 5 or so, and then you are left with a delicious fresh, woody, sweet scent, kinda of wet too if that makes sense, but in the best way possible. I really love this one.
P.s: the dry down reminds me a bit of men colognes, but much better.
Anyway, I can see a man wearing this one too.

  36. :

After spraying and sniffing this for a year now, I like it more and more….You are transported to another place when you smell this. A humid green fresh place. Not sweet but tart. The woody vanilla dry down is delicious.

  37. :

Awful on my skin, really awful, smells worse than Bengay, rougher, more aggressive, without depth, notl rounded at all.The main note is tiger liana, one of the smelly flowers from Indonesia, vanilla in this is green but also aggressive and unbalanced. I love green scents but this is more camphor (and a very bad one, mixed with something aggressive like corpses).Does not agree with my chemistry at all.Long lasting and with great sillage/projection.

  38. :

Tried It on my skin a few times and the results are the same: this one is really bad. Smells like if I smear mint toothpaste on myself, those intented for children… sugary mint.
After 1:30h of stink you get an annoying and silly vanila.
    Not worthy.

  39. :

    5 out of 5

I’m stunned… This is just perfect. It will be my next purchase. Mugler is not always my style, but this one is so different and unique but at the same time wearable and not ‘freaky’ like some of his creations. Starts off with slightly rotten vegetables mixed with toothpaste but this phase lasts about a minute max. Then it turns into a wonderful minty vanilla, present but not overwhelming. Absolutely for fall and winter and perhaps more of a night time fragrance , in small dosis even suitable for daytime/work. Love the bottle, it suits the smell inside.

  40. :

    3 out of 5

I have a sample of it. It’s green allright, very unusual, not something that I would expect from Mugler, since most of his fragrances are more sensual and orientaly. It is so far away of fragrances like Angel or Alien and has absolutely nothing to do with them. What I mostly get is mint, but in a way that it smells like toothpaste to me…Yes, minty toothpaste… Well, I’not into this and, to be honest, I just don’t get it…

Tested this yesterday on my skin and I really got a Very Irresistible Sensual vibe, just less deep and interesting, but definitely similar. Not as unique as I expected. Also, the dry down was a bit cologney.

This is a mysterious, enchanted, emerald green forest with minty, floral, vanilla breezes gently caressing your skin. It’s absolutely delicious! The more I wear it the more addicted I become. And I don’t even usually like deep, complex rich scents. But this is a true emerald beauty that I’ll never be without. Try it you’ll like it! 🙂

  45. :

This is beautiful and the more I smell it, the more I like it.
It starts with a blast of menthol and kiwi. Yes: menthol, and kiwi. And then it develops into a vegetal, wet, vanilla accord, a bit sour and smoky. Strange, addictive and absolutely unisex.
It takes time to appreciate, but to me Aura is the best perfume launched in 2017 -alongside with Twilly d’Hermès-.

  46. :

    3 out of 5

I’m surprised that some of the reviews of this perfume call it green. It smells more brown and violet with white flowers to me, despite the color of the bottle. This is the first perfume in my life that I’ve taken a whiff of and instantly had to buy it on the spot.
I definitely immediately smell the vanilla and amber in it, which are scents I love and are in most scents I wear. Something about it smells like softened candy with a twist, like something you’d expect to smell in an enchanted faded photograph of a circus from a long time ago.
My other favorites are Bond No 9 New York Nights, Mugler Angel, Versace Bright Crystal for reference.

  47. :

    5 out of 5

I’m more of a Mugler flanker fan…. I love Angel Muse and Alien Essense Absolue. I even like Angel Sucree. But Angel wears finicky on me (some days it works, and some days it does NOT), Alien was “meh”, I didn’t care for Womanity.
Same with A*Men, I bought my man the Tobacco and Leather versions– I like them both, and my man LOVES the leather one. I’ve not smelled original A*men.
I smelled Aura in a magazine (the peel and sniff) and it was a very pleasant woody-vanilla. Nothing like the reviews, but I’ve learned to not totally trust those magazine sheets.
FragranceX has 3.0 oz Auras for $61!! So I did it! I’m soooo excited! I can’t wait!
And it’s here!! This is actually pretty close to the magazine I smelled. It’s not nearly as complex as most Muglers, but it does take odd notes and put them together beautifully and smoothly.
I get a juicy green/rhubarb with vanilla and woods. Pretty much that. There is something minty/medicinal reminds me of the same mint in Alien Essense Ab. This minty stuff lasts maybe 20 minutes in the opening. The vanilla is very Alien EA as well.
This isn’t as potent as Angel or Alien Essense, I got a good 5-7 hours, and it didn’t hurt to reapply from time to time. It wasn’t cloying. I wore on a hot summer day, upper 70s. Very smooth sweet vanilla with odd extras- wet greenery and woods. Comes from the same magical fairy forest as Lolita Lempicka.
It’s pleasing, but not terribly unique. Not worth $165 Mugler prices, but thank goodness for FragranceX! I’m totally happy to own this. I love the bottle.

The first minutes is addictive and unique as Mugler always is. BUT in the dry down all the seduction disappear and all that is left is an average celebrity perfume for men. I have now ordered the EDT because we do not have it my country yet. Hoping that one will keep the Aura scent more because I love love the opening of this.

On my skin, this smelled like lettuce on which someone sprinkled sugar.
    Thoroughly underwhelmed.

Well, it’s Mugler, so it’s going to be weird. But finally, he’s done one that isn’t an instant headache wrapped in sickly-sweet cotton candy. I’m not sure I’m getting rhubarb – more like mint with a hint of bubble gum. It’s not terrible! It’s actually kind of fun in a quirky way and not too loud.

To me this smell green and sweet, like a sweet lettuce-salad with some cherry lol .. I love it! However, I just got my bottle to wear it on fall-winter. It was too strong for summer(hot days).
Long lasting longevity and Moderate-strong sillage!

My first Mugler so nothing Mugler to compare with, but I’m on the fence on this one. I dont dislike or hate it, its just so different, I’m not sure what to think. Kind of neutral I guess… Sometimes perfumes grow on you, and you end up loving it, this might be the case here. The opening is weird, I feel its almost like a plastic smell, but in a fresh way. (dont make any sense does it?) The drydown is more interesting, but I can still smell the “plastic”. Now a the moment it seems that every perfume diasappears on me,or are really close to skin- no idea why. Anyway, middle notes are a great mix, which I would “keep” if my skin agreed with me… I can hardly smell the basenotes so…. Dear AURA, please stay, and I might grow to LOVE you!

I got my full bottle last Thursday…. I’m hooked. Shame on you, Mugler— get your hands out of my pockets!
strawberry-ish but nicely tart, and refreshing; like a Granny Smith Apple. It has a mild menthol accord that gives it some mystique and intrigue. Adequate in all of its layers. Sweet enough without being annoyingly so. Vanilla gives it a creamy Allure.
The florals and wood aren’t too prominent, must be the depth.
Dude here, I would say it’s unisex, if you’re comfortable with it.
The warm weather carries it well!

I’m in love with Aura! At first quite medicinal and minty and smells like forest, and then it turns into this sweet green gourmand scent. Could definitely be a signature scent since this can be worn any time of the year. Starting to feel that this will be my new fav and maybe even signature scent! I love Alien and i find this quite similar in some way but this is definitely more green. Huge thumbs up from me!

I live in Barbados. Outside, in direct sunlight it was like 33 degrees + Celsius. Now I happened to be in Cave Shepherd, and I sprayed a good few on my shirt sleeve. A Minty Elixir Blast.
I’m a DIE HARD fan of Thierry Mugler’s fragrances. A*Men is my signature fragrance!
As soon as I stepped out into warm evening this scent just transformed into a bright Sour/ Citrusy/ yet a subdued but very present Sweetish/ Creamy/ Salty/ Minty #Euosmia.
    Unique. Unisex.
You either LIKE it or HATE it!

Just wanted to add that Aura does perform best in very hot weather as others have noted. It brings out the salty note in sweat and makes a really beautiful summer smell.
It takes time to get to know Aura, but it’s worth it.
