something vanilla or fruity that is different from other aramis indeed.aramis in a space colony subsisting on synthetic cucumbers.cedar keeps it all down to earth eventually and all is well.i dont get much citrus and this is a gentle cologne. unlike aramis my summer which is a screamer, this cologne smell edible.i like it.

I have the old version of this fume (squat, ribbed blue glass) which may gave been reformulated along with all the bottle changes. I also have the aftershave which I use much more frequently as I feel slightly less bad about using it up than the actual EDT! This is one of the few fumes that brings a smile to my face upon application – I somehow forget how much I enjoy this until each time I put it on! It starts with a rush of juicy limes and evokes the feeling of a fluffy citric and vanilla cloud that gently caresses your nose…and those of any passerby as it is surprisingly potent and durable (it lasted on my wrists through 8 hours of physical labor and is still going 13 hours after application)! If I were to speak of any notes listed, I would say that there might be some candy coated violets mixed with a healthy helping of a sweetly spiced wood (sugar, cardamom, and cedar…maybe a synthetic sandalwood). To me, it smells like a giant candy fluff vanilla with hints of wood and violets with a pervasive citric accord that lasts nearly from beginning to end! I love it – it is great for any temperature and is unique in its citric deliciousness! I’d shoot for informal though – this does not come off as reserved or refined enough for serious or seductive affairs. Well, I hope you all go forth and create a little justice in the world – people like me really need a little every now and then. Stay fragrant my friends!

    This is a nice scent.
I don’t know whether it’s because I bought a bottle recently (could have been laying somewhere less than ideal) but for an Aramis fragrance this is quite understated and stays close to the skin, I have to spray nearly twice as much as my other Aramis fragrances to get the same coverage, just seems a bit weak for a company known for strong scents.
As it stands, this would be a good choice for dates as only people who are close to you will pick it up.
It’s remarkably fresh and modern smelling and different from others in this brand.
To sum up – Lovely scent but just wish it had a bit more projection and longevity.
If you get a chance to pick it up I would recommend it.
    Thumbs up 🙂

@smellavision You are probably thinking of Aramis Always. Andre Agassi was not only the face but it was his fragrance through Aramis.
There is a slight tweek in the accords. The bottles resemble eachother but the colors of blue in the label and fluid are slightly different.
Aramis Always is hard to find now and is an incredible summer perfume for men. I wish they had a women’s version. I buy it for my bf and wear it when he’s out of town because we do not like to wear similar fragrances as if we are in vane or something lol

I am PRETTY sure I had this one with the blue bottle as in picture #2 above back in 1999… but the description says it was released in 2003 ? Did they launch others with an almost identical bottle, anyone ?

i have the blue, corrugated bottle with metallic top. i smell cluster figs right from the beginning though that note is not listed here. dunno if it is because of some combo of cucumber, cardaom and leather. the cluster figs note makes Aramis Life unique in my collections. This note gradually disolves into the middle notes after about an hour. The perfume stays closer to the skin for about six hours. It’s a worth try.

Aramis, haha had to just dig this one out of the box, it smells OK considering what i have is near vintage!!! But then Aramis is an old favourite and ages well!

I bought this blind as it is pretty rare in Australia and it was on sale at a great price. I am really happy with the purchase as this is something quite different to most of my other fragrances. It starts off sharply, but quickly becomes a fresh woody fragrance with a hint of pepperiness (from the cardamom). The mint is quite noticeable to my nose and adds an interesting and unusual aspect, which gives balance to the overall effect. It is somewhat similar to Del Mar by Baldessarni.

I agree with those who perceive this as a kind of light gourmand, though it’s more complex than most gourmands. Eventually, a decent sandalwood note emerges. This is certainly not problematic in any way but it may have a “neither here nor there” quality to a lot of people. I can’t even guess what the idea was supposed to be or to what kind of guy they thought this would appeal. It’s quite blended (though certainly no “blob”) and too indistinct to be a “must have” for an aficionado. They could have called this Aramis Light; that would make some sense to me. Longevity is excellent but projection (“sillage”) is moderate after a short period of time (with one full spray to the chest).

Now this is a winner! Not for everybody as in my opinion it develops into a sour direction which is not appreciated by everyone but i like it a LOT! Especially since this sourness is not a stuffy one but it provides a very exotic vide to the whole scent which is a exteremly fresh, sparkling yet manly and a definite Aramis style creation. It doesnt need to be summer to wear this as it embraces you with an uplifting aura you can appreciate any time of the year. Also, well recognizable as it has its own personality and is definitely not your mainstream fresh! Love it!

This was one of the first fragrances I ever bought, about 10 years ago. I really liked it back then. Too bad they don’t sell it in stores any more, I would have loved to smell it once more.

    Aramis Life
I was trying to break away from my proverbial beloved Aramis into something produced by different houses. However between the sales man telling me it is amazing, it won an award in 2006 and an instant enjoyment of this on my skin from the test bottle, I left the store with my own 50ml semi-blind purchase.
Three days later I am able to test and review. After three squirts, allowing the alcohol to disappear, an Instant, toned down, distinct reminder of enchanting, Aramis Devin greeted me. Devin is one of my all time favorite classics, so immediately the positive points were clocked up. This is a perfect example of a “flanker” or a house keeping a “theme.”
Top notes, Extremely snow white-blue-clean, almost like you are standing at the ocean, watching a wave crash white foam over barnacled rocks while holding a beautiful bunch of sweet citrus flowers.
I am not terribly fond of “fresh.” There seems to be so much of this genre going around. Aramis Life, however, is a high, twinkling, almost sweet, extremely magnetizing “fresh” which hits fine, delicate little violet notes in my head.
The middle notes remain fresh, clean, and sparkling. It has a pleasant tart that seems to sit above the mild floral sweetness offering balance. If there is any leather, it is probably lies masked under the ever present cedar and Sandalwood. Perhaps the nutmeg offers a tinge of spicy but it may be disguised by the ever present floral- citrus.
Generally, the main accords are accurately described, “Watery, ozone, citrus, green woody.” I am intrigued by this particular Aramis. Nine years later, I am sorry I never spotted it before. Aramis Life is in keeping with the typical Aramis tradition, but with an appealing interesting oceanic clean twist.
Some readers’ say it is discontinued which I felt almost disappointed reading after I had bought it in case I may want to buy it again. But here in South Africa Aramis is on practically every exclusive fragrances shelve and I saw plenty of bottles lined up. I must clarify this. I asked the sales lady but she was not sure.
I like Aramis “Life.” In a nut shell, I find this an awesome, original, Citrus Aromatic which I may certainly recommend and visit if it has some good lasting power. Time will tell.
This is so far my favourite Aramis perfume as many of the others have been “done” in my olfactory memory bank.
From a pure scent point of view: 4.8/5
    Sillage : 4.2/5
Longevity: (unfortunately it took a few days to realize — disappointing) 3.5/5
    Overall opinion: 4.1/5

Aramis Life. I don’t know who’s life this represents, but I’m glad it’s not mine.
Yup, there’s a marine citrus opening that is all too familiar and overdone, and a mid to base composition that I can only describe as soft leathery sandalwood. Thats all I get.
To be honest though, my bottle is quite a few years old ( as any bottle will be, seeing as it’s been discontinued a while) and I have never owned Aramis Life from ‘new’. So maybe some of the ‘fresher’ notes, especially the mint and cucumber have faded away, and as a result the fragrance has probably lost some of the dimensions it previously had.
Still, I can only pass judgement on what I have in front of me. And what I possess is, er, Aramis Life-less. Shame, cos I think this might have been OK originally.

This one is good. Sad thing is that it doesnt last longer and less projection.

I use to cake myself in the aftershave back in 2004 then go to work delivering pizzas.
I loved the tangy freshness in the opening.
For a citrus aromatic scent, the citrus is not overwhelming or sour at all. The spices and woody notes are more prominent in development but the scent doesn’t lose alot of freshness.
Upsides: The citrus notes arent too sharp, the cucumber is dominent heart which compensates with freshness that could be lost from the citrus and spices. Good summer, office and casual scent.
Downsides: Discontinued line, and has been for at least 4 years (from memory) so any stock left is quite old and travelled.
If you try it and you thinks its cheap or bad quality, dont chock that up to how it was created. It use to be a very beautiful smell, but over the discontinued years, every bottle has aged.

When I first saw this and read the notes I knew it would be wonderful, and even though it is made by/for a sports figure; it has the Aramis name backing it up, and it does not disappoint…
This begins with a clear, crisp opening of lime’s slight bitterness with bergamot’s bright freshness and some bittersweet kumquat to round it out. Juicy, tart and clean all at once, it is light and sparkling, yet definitely manly. As the citrus top notes fade, the heart becomes smooth and green with mint, violet leaves and cool, moist cucumber spiced with cardamom and a hint of corriander-a light spicy green that is renewing and uplifting. The dry down is a subtle leathery woody accord that has strength (from cedar and sandal) but is very sensual from the olivewood. This scent is virile, but an affirmation of life itself and is very lush, green, and natural smelling…
    Sillage: okay
    Longevity: good
    Overall: 4.25/5
This is lighter, compared to the original Aramis and I’m glad…it is clean, modern, bright and well-blended. An excellent summer scent that lasts and combines the best of citrus, greens and woods. Clean AND sexy-a great combo!

Tested it and was surprised to see that it was actually more woody than being citrusy. I wasn’t real crazy about it but the drydown was quite wonderful with lightly smoky woody leather. Dont even forget to mention it has quite a lasting power. Definitely it will be in my collection soon.
And yea, somebody goofs up the photo?

This one became a wonderful surprise to me!
A kind of “fresh” scent, which lasts a lot and has a very good aroma. Just for the simple fact that a scent from this “fresh” family had stuck on me, it is already a reason for happiness.
Aramis Life starts floral fresh, softly sweet, with lime, bergamot and Kumquat (which didn’t appears on the notes above). The heart, which I think is wonderful, is a trip through the violet leaves, the cold sensation of mint (which has presence), the cucumber and the pepper.
In its base lives the secret of the attraction this scent have caused me: the olive tree wood. This note, well blended with leather, cedar and sandalwood make that last breath of the aroma up through the nostrils in a delicious manner.
The lasting is another good point: more than 8 hours on me!

Not as fresh as it pretends to be – in fact, it’s very sweet. Perhaps an alternative for those who think Le Male by Gaultier is too intrusive?

The beginning (just the beginning) recalls me “Essenza di Zegna”. The bergamot, maybe? Drydown is better (actually is good, a masculine scent), but the beginning …

reminds me of Issey Miyake bleu almost to the T. but it’s notes are different. This one is much sweeter but is still tart.

Strong sexy masculine cologne. It smells very distinctive and stays with you for a while, so many colognes fade too guickly these days but not this one. And if you layer with the shower gel and the deodorant spray – you don’t need to reapply at all.
It’s just a great balanced cologne: sweet, but not too sweet, fresh and woody at the same time. Hard to explain but a great combination of notes.

This one was a surprise for me. It is really nice and very longlasting scent. It begins kinda fresh and fruity, then it goes sweety and woody. The base is sweet and musky (quite a musky). I like it. It’s good for any occasion, but I prefer to wear it to office.

  26. :

Excellent fragrance. Starts very crisp, the lime and cedar coming out nicely. As you wear it, the leather and cardamom notes take over.
A great, masculine scent for the modern man.
