Gentlemen do not fear the violet! Make no mistake the violet is center stage but it’s rounded off rather nicely by its woody elements. More masculine in my opinion but a woman can pull it off. Longevity and performance is definitely there. Not obnoxious but you will project so go easy on the trigger for office use.

Compare to other oud in the Mancera lines, this one is smooth and relaxing. I really like the opening of Aoud Violet, violet is quite promminent almost powdery or even fluffy. Yet it maintain to develop to woody notes, and ended with a kind of sweet floral note close to the skin. Performance is good, moderate projection and longevity on me. I would give 8/10 for this fragrance.

I’m a huge Mancera fan and added Aoud Violet to the cart when it was deeply discounted. I wasn’t expecting much and could give it to one of my daughters since wasn’t really my scent genre but, quite surprisingly, I really like this one.
In a nutshell, I get a screaming powdery violet wrapped in a blanket of Mancera Wind Wood with some hints of Kumkat Wood. It’s doesn’t sounds that great, but Aoud Violet has a really smooth, elegant feel to it…just like perfectly aged bourbon. Moreover, it performs extremely well; lasts 10-12 or more hours on my skin and projects well above average.
Although Aoud Violet is listed as being a women’s fragrance, I find that it is unisex. However, the problem is that violet-powdery accord may put off a lot of men, and some of the ladies may find that Wind Wood/Kumkat Wood base may be a little too masculine for their tastes. In the end, I really like this fragrance…but it misses the mark and I find that I can only wear it while sitting around the house because I have so many other fragrance options.

A legitimately Extreme, concentrated version of Gentlemen Only by Givenchy. These Mancera’s can be a bit powerful and with this fragrance, I think that is acceptable. I like this fragrance but for the price and less overbearing nature, would go with the Gentlemen only.
EDIT: On a tester strip I had from 2 days ago, I smell a wonderful fragrance..tired to recall what it was and deduced it was this stuff. What a performing scent.. I know itd be different on skin but the tester strip days later being as strong and as wonderful as it is makes me think twice and I think I might get this, Too bad this is sold only in 4 oz bottles :/

Smells 90% similar to Gentlemen Only by Givenchy. Save the money and buy the Givenchy. Next please.

Mancera does some fantastic work with their fragrances….this is a phenomenal fragrance!!
Aoud Violet can be described as light, aquatic; soft, yet with a first impression punch…nice!
Yes, as others have expressed, this is very masculine; nowhere am I getting any violets or anything resembling violets, just ‘ouddy’ goodness with some sweetness; reminds me of The Dreamer a little in the beginning stages, yet matures into something totally unique and exquisite.
    Simply A-MAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
What do I get: Pepper, Amber, and some Vetiver. There is Oud and loads of it, not over bearing as some would suspect; and then there is the White Musk which gives way to the floral aspect of the fragrance. As have mentioned, this fragrance is more of a citrusy spice than a floral sweet, yet the two coexist (hence the name-Aoud Violet) as one category I think.
The spices and the floral from the white musk gives a great feel to this fragrance. This fragrance has a glow about it that halos around you giving those around you much to talk about, an enjoyment while in your presence! Projection and longevity’s great!!!
[I thought this was a funny story; as I sprayed this on this morning, my 3 1/2/ year old daughter walks into the room and says, “daddy, something smells really really good!!” :o)]….this cracked me up!!……me, of course!
…..there you have it, everyone should go out and purchase a bottle now that my 3 year old has sanctioned this stuff!!! lol…….
By the way, I recognize that the dry down of this reminds me of the dry down in Darley by Parfums de Marly!

Unisex with a masculine skew. Very balanced, powdery, fresh, grounded, and intriguing. This is an interesting fragrance in that manages to be “safe” and not offensive, but at the same time is very unique and not like anything I’ve smelled. As others have mentioned, the oud is hard to detect, and really sets the violet up for a smoothe and creamy finish. I really really like this one.

great fragrance, green and fresh,I dont smell any oud on it,very long lasting, unisex, very similar to Esencia loewe EDT Pour Homme, 9/10.

I received a sample of this with another order, and finally decided to try it. This is very far from the sort of fragrance I normally wear, and I was surprised by how much I like it. The violet is very sharp and green in the opening, not the overly sweet powdery type I avoid. The spices are there but stay in the background and the oud patchouli middle notes are lovely, as is the vetiver/oakmoss base. It stays green all the way through, a very big plus for me. Longevity and sillage are both excellent – one spray on my wrist lasted the entire day.

Nothing groundbreaking, but still is my signature scent for work. Definitely unisex and versatile. Garners many compliments and I can see why. I get the violet and vetiver combo, which i compare to Givenchy Gentlemen only but with beast performance. At the dry down, i can get hints of oud but its not a pungent oud, its like giving a woody smoky vibe similar to gentlemen only by Givenchy. Longevity is great as well as projection, it will last my whole work day !!

After a terrifyingly ozonic, almost mentholated opening 20 seconds or so, Aoud Violet settles quite nicely into a surprisingly old-school chypre.
A truly bizarre combination of notes, somehow this just manages to pull itself together into a cohesive whole. Once the opening moments have burned off, what you’re left with is a loud, linear, unique, yet somehow classical vibe. Heavy oakmoss and dry, non-descript spices hum away relentlessly. A gentle, rooty, vetiver peaks through the background. The middle is dominated by a lovely, green violet paired with a dry oud, hinting at the waxy, cosmetic accord found in a lot of old-school chypres.
If you find a lot of chypres too stuffy and ‘lipsticky’ for you, then this might be a good buy. It has all the classic beauty of a stern, austere chypre, with a heavy dose of green, shimmering violet notes to freshen it into something entirely modern. Dry, stern, and heavy but with a fresh, cold heart Aoud Violet is unforgiving but ultimately quite wearable.
Projection is typical Mancera/Montale style heavy. Longevity is nuclear. Unisex in the same vein as a lot of 40’s and 50’s chypres. Enjoy on brisk evenings with hot food and strong wine.

I really don’t get the Intense cafe comparison?
This was the first Mancera I tried and and it’s a new one. I was interested how violets and oud would compliment each other and if indeed it would smell like either. To be honest the violet note is not typical, instead quite strong and unnatural in this setting. The opening is a strong sharp mixture of citruses, oakmoss and musk which settles to a base of oud and violets. This fragrance on me smelled good and I have to say…I really liked it, despite what might be perceived as a negative or at least luke warm review. This is because I don’t know what to think about Violet Oud? I’ve not smelled this combination of notes before and for that I suppose it’s unique and certainly not what I expected. The longevity is huge and projects for the first couple of hours very well.
I’m not sure I could wear it as I feel I might tire of it easily…not sure? another testing is required I think?

I am not sure why Fragrantica have classified this as “for women” because Mancera themselves describe this as unisex. To my nose, it smells like mens supermarket body spray and would be hideous on a woman. It almost smells like Jovan Black Musk to me.
This is an oakmoss-heavy powerhouse of a scent which I actually didn’t enjoy and had to mix it with sweeter EDPs to make it palatable.
    Heavy chemical astringent violet burner!!

Brought it blind, for some reason by the name (I did’nt look at the notes etc) I thought it would smell similar or have a hint of parma violets (uk sweets) if this is aimed by women, it certainly does’nt smell feminine, it’s for sure a masculine smell, I’m not the best at it smells like this or that, it’s nice, to me it’s not stand out or unique smelling, but it last for hours and hours and the projection is excellent (someone baking in a bakery shop, could smell it from about 10 feet away)
