Another scent “a la Montale” with the synthetic rose. I do get the blackberries at the start, as it feels sweet, sour and fruity. Not sure with what the rose is paired, as from close it smells like a floor cleaner. Into the dry down is when finally the rose distances to the cleaning product and it starts to fell like a “normal” rose and it’s paired to a creamy sandalwood, which is nice, but is not enough for me to forget the cheap mess from the first part.

MONTALE Paris is a niche perfume brand that will never disappoint its customer! A wide variety of scents interpreting in a modern way the alluring atmosphere of the Orient… As a great fan of such scents myself I can only appreciate Pierre Montale’s creations to the fullest.
Aoud Purple Rose is intoxicating as it balances a fresh opening with a warm heart and base… The combination of saffron and rose petals make an elegant introduction before sandalwood and agar wood boldly state their sensual intentions. Notes of leather, amber and musk intensify the oriental character of the fragrance. It is a unisex scent but I must say it suits men better as it differs from typical masculine fragrances.
With MONTALE Paris projection is loud and longevity extraordinary! There is no chance you will get unnoticed and you won’t have to worry about reapplying anytime soon… This goes for Aoud Purple Rose as well which has given me numerous compliments. I also appreciate the great value for money since you get 100ml of Eau de Parfum in a super reasonable price, significantly cheaper than even most commercial fragrances! The bottle is the brand’s characteristic “oxygen tank”, (this time in dark purple), dressed with a leather pouch.
    Finally…
Yes, Aoud Purple Rose is exactly identical to New York Oud by BOND No9 but at one fourth of the asking retail price I find it’s a bargain…

Too “plummy” and “potpourri” for me. It reminds me of Tom Ford Plum Japonais which I dislike. I don’t think plum and rose would work well together on me.

“Un Oud très ancien associé au magnifique Ambre d’Orient pour un duo rendu pétillant grâce au Ciste des Indes et à 50 autres composants.
Le Aoud féminin par excellence, raffiné et sensuel.”
this description as within the site of ‘Montale” of another perfume as “Aoud Purple Rose” and the dozen I’ve read just now may serve as a reminder that Montale never was fake, and I’ve seen him use the terms also of “a note of” meaning that this then, wasn’t the ingredient in full force, volume, thickness yet as contribution indispensable. I’ve never had ‘a Montale’ dissatisfying. in a Facebook page of Roja Dove fans I saw what is happening. they claim with these ultrahigh prized ‘parfum extraits’ to be able to have comparative fragrance competitions and enjoy a little ‘Montale-bashing’. I posted a contrary comment saying Montale wasn’t AT ALL ‘trash’, on the contrary. a lady said the ‘synthetic notes’ gave her headache and if I remember correctly sinoidal problems. with me it is the other way round. having REAL chronic sinoidal problems from off 1984 the highly concentrated Montale perfumes blast open my sinuses with full force. and I made a fine collection because if you can still smell the perfume 12, 24++ hours post quem, then there’s really good ingredients in it. and as Pierre Montale states, in the flacon (and particularly in the aluminium, an idea copied by the hautain Roja Dove for samples and whatever the fuck he calls these billionaire prized creations), the maceration goes on.
as I have and return to Attar, Intense Tiaré, Intense Café, Aoud Purple Rose, Louban, Nepalese Oudh, I can say the Montales always deliver and what I so particularly like about APR was the ‘love at first smell’ I had and had almost with every Montale to my liking. Octave Coiffan, parfumista who went narcistically too far and became increasingly such amnostic sour criticaster of perfume [cf. Luca Turin, Roja Dove, Serge Lutens], famously stated “I am looking at you Montale” claiming he wasn’t always honest in mentioning oud in a perfume where it was just (in his crooked opinion, accumulative delusional opinion) “synthetic”. I could have sworn there was oud in Attar one of my absolute favorites. but no it isn’t mentioned and there is just this incredible strong rose and double distilled mysore sandalwood. here, with APR it is the chic sillage and neverending waft of oud-rose perfume that haunts us. taifi it smells but none is mentioned. yet I suspect with Pierre Montale [his deliciously over-the-top appearance] it is precisely the opposite. sometimes, within such huge perfumial collection [along with ‘Mancera’], notes are omitted rather than exaggerated. I love the hyperexpensive “Oudh Infini” of Dusita so do not veer back from ultra. but Montale, well that is ultra all along the way.

Beautiful elegant ladylike rose. Strong. I love it! Leather and really nice oud: gorgeous. Purple rose – yes – wonderful!!

Montale Aoud Purple Rose is roughly what I expected it to be, a mix of the usual Montale oud and a somewhat feminine rose, though the fragrance on the whole is somewhat unisex. The rose isn’t terribly fresh or sweet, but rather powdery, so it inherently leans feminine, but when mixed with the oud, become something that I can many men can not only stomach but also might choose. Given the abundance of rose/oud fragrances on the market, I’ll pass on this one but it’s a sufficiently interesting take on the concept to merit trying by fans of the Montale ouds or rose/oud fragrances. If nothing else, its performance is very good so you’re still getting the same strong Montale juice to which most wearers are accustomed. The scent itself simply isn’t good enough to me, though.

Aoud Purple Rose has a pretty synthetic character, the oud is dominant and the rose/saffron combination join in and are loud. A very potent fragrance.

This was a loud, but very nice oud rose combo that on me was not chemical much. It was very loud though. My wife loved it and I think maybe the trail it was leaving behind might even have been think enough to taste it. If for not having so many others I would purchase, with that said you must love a syrupy oud in order to appreciate it. I am on the fence for the oud part, but love the take on rose involved here. Not very masculine which I am cool with at time.

Aoud purple rose starts bold! Lovely!, I thought finally a non sweet rose, but in a little time it changes in a very sour and sharp rose fragrance, what a pity! Next day in my clothes what remaines is a soapy sharp smell.
(By the way doesn’t smell like taif roses!)
    important: THE INGREDIENTS LISTED ABOVE ARE NOT CORRECT;
    the offical montale site says;
    rose petals, saffran and aoud
thats whay i did not smell the taif ofcourse….

Fantastic. Opening strong with great presence of leather and oud, and quickly leaves the leather all their grace with saffron and large rose taif. The smell of abrupt changes completely to its pure and steady state opening. Great fragrance, Great Montale.
    I rank it like this:
    Smell: 9/10
    Projection: 9/10
    Longevity: 10/10

Purple Rose DOES smell like Bond 9 New York Oud! What a delightful discovery because the Bond version is exactly twice as much as the Montale. YAY!

I love this one and it closely remind me of Montale Aoud Queen Rose, basically same notes with saffron, too.
It smells a little sharp at beginning.
It’s a typical rose/aoud combo, very well done, ladylike in an original and exotic way, luminous yet mysterious. I can understand it doesn’t appeal all modern tastes because it smells so different compared to acquired mainstream tastes, but it’s worthy giving it a try. My bf says it smells like mothballs in an old wardrobe. That’s part of its charme, not mothballs rather wet aromatic wood (synthetical, I guess)
    Longlasting.

I think a lot of the Montale fragrances are being reformulated. This one was horrible, it smelt like Raid bug spray. I have 5 Montales, but this one was godawful. This dry down to a very harsh synthetic musk.

Gorgeous rose, leather, oud and saffron fragrance!
It’s strong, intensive, but not vulgar at all. It’s even strict a little bit. Just an elegant night fragrance. The taif rose note is simply great!
Its lasting power and sillage are great. I guess that it’s Montale’s sign of quality.
I really love it! It’s the best by Montale, imho.

In the beginning it is too sharp. After a couple hours, only man aftershave. Too bad, I wanted to like it.
EDIT: gave me a skin rush too. 🙁

sharp rosy start, then drydown to a lovely sweet woody purple rose scent! It is more feminine than masculine. I personally can’t see myself wearing this
but I love TO smell that on a woman so I would recommend it to ladies .!wow! . It is really sex bomb , (lady perfume).

A very dull rosy white musk fragrance. I was not impressed.

A bit strange at first scent, but the drydown is amazing, lasts for hours on my skin, winter fragrance for sure.
