Description

Juliette Has A Gun presents Another Oud which was announced as “an original fragrance with an original name” and is now available for sale in the official online store of the house. Fragrance Another Oud suggests the vast popularity of oriental perfumery interpreted in a modern, lush and opulent manner.

JULIETTE HAS A GUN ANOTHER OUD is sequel to fragrance Midnight Oud, created of deep woodsy notes with key ingredient precious wood surrounded by fruit and tamed with the warmth of musk and Ambroxan. The composition opens with a union of bergamot and sweet raspberry announcing Norlimbanol oud wood warmed by musk and Ambroxan in the base, in a sensual way.

Fragrance Another Oud is available in a flacon of characteristic design colored in white with shiny white ornaments and a golden cap, in the amount of 100 ml.

Another Oud was launched in 2015.

I think this is one of the best synthetic ouds in a long time, not beastmode projection but by no means a skin scent and lasts all day. I have been gifted a bottle and looking to sell my tester if anyone is interested (99% full)

Oud become really popular a few years ago. Pretty much every designer house added at least one oud offering to their line as did JHAG. This oud fragrance is just an afterthought. Fine, but nothing special. An oud for someone who wants a generic, non-offensive oud.

I liked how the bottle smelled in Sephora so I sprayed some on the back of my hand and it immediately morphed into a salty, reedy, gym-sock mess. It survived two scrubbings so take from that what you will. I wish I got that sort of persistence and longevity from scents I actually like.

I love Oud and this is not a “bad oud fragrance”, but this probably is the most boring oud fragrance I’ve ever tested. Plain, uninspired and boring. Yes, this is just “another oud” that is not worth the time or the money.

A lovely oud. Accompanied with honey like sweetness.

More like a scented cosmetic product, than niche perfume. Actually reminds me of a certain mosquito repellent. I might, however, use up my sample for some layering, since I do appreciate this rawness in a way.

This is the perfume for which I receive the most compliments, from friends to strangers on the street. It has a large sillage and is very long lasting. When I get into a car or enter a room wearing this, I really do get people saying “wow you smell great”. That is one of the goals for me of wearing perfume!
The oud and raspberry are lovely together. Its a sexy scent not really appropriate for the office, but I love it everywhere else. Some might feel its more of a winter scent, but its magic on a hot sultry summer night.
I love it, and have a large bottle. When that is done I’ll buy another.

The opening reminds me of a highly synthetic Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford but with less leather. The dry-down becomes less synthetic and more woodsy and oud-like, but still carries that Iso E Super and Ambroxan synthetic signature that most Juliette Has A Gun fragrances have. It’s a dry, rather stern oud, not a sweet, nectarous one, but it is sweetened and balanced a bit by the raspberry. Also, ouds pair wonderfully with a hint of tanginess, which the bergamot notes provide.

I really do not understand the fuzz, it is truly another generic oud. Nothing special, no additional layers. I would agree it is woody, aromatic, but there is nothing sweet, nor fruity. Honestly, did not expect such disappointment according the reviews indeed. staying power is the best in it in general..

It’s an oudh. I expect sweetness. I did not expect it to be nose stingingly synthetic the whole damn day.

Orgasm in a bottle! Just bought my 3rd bottle plus another Vengeance extreme. Best Oud-y perfume ever! Lasts for eternity on my skin and clothes 🙂

This smelled like burning rubber and something else so awful I can’t describe it. I tried to wait it out for the dry down but ended up scrubbing it off. It held on for a whole day. Not my cup of tea at all! 🙁

Hate the opening, love the drydown. The opening is all alcohol and synthetic raspberry. Blech. I don’t know what it is about the next phase, but after about an hour it reminds me of the dentist’s office. I don’t know what the dentist’s-office smell is, but it’s replicated in this phase.
Later on, however, Another Oud transforms into a glorious woody accord—warm, dry, a tad smoky, a tad sweet. I love it. It’s a great subtle oud for people who like woody scents but don’t like to be all “I AM WEARING AN OUD FRAGRANCE AND I WANT EVERYBODY IN MY VICINITY TO KNOW IT.”
The question is, am I willing to suffer for a couple hours to get to this stage? Maybe. Probably willing enough to finish my sample. Am I willing to buy a full bottle? Absolutely not.

I love Juliette Has a Gun. The brand has some beautiful high quality perfumes. I own a full bottle of Mmmm… and travel spray of Sunny Side Up. I recently purchased the discovery set of samples and Another Oud was one of them. A great sampling set by the way!
I should start with saying I don’t have much experience with oud perfumes. My tastes in perfumes have somewhat evolved during the past couple of years, but I’m not at the oud stage in my journey.
To me I find this too intense. A scent that’s not pleasant to me. Something spicy, woodsy and something I am not used to. I think I’ll revisit oud scents in another five or so years. But for now Another Oud is a pass.

This oud is the type of oud I find myself desiring nowadays. At the start of the year, I was wanting the strongest oudh I could get my hands on. I went to an Islamic Bookstore that stocked attars and oils and the owner was kind enough to show me some of the rarest and most expensive oudh tinctures and oils from his own personal collection. I was blown away, in love and a smidge burnt out. This was three months ago, and now I’ve retreated into the soft rose/ oudh fragrances and soft solo playing oudhs like this one.
It’s beautiful. It is calming and it is nothing entirely special. At this point, I don’t care so long as it smells anywhere near as good as this does. Synthetic? Sure. In fact, definitely. Does that matter? Nope! It’s companion with raspberry is nothing like Majestic Rose’s but again this only makes this fragrance work even more on another level. I prefer this to Midnight Oud and perhaps all other JHaG scents. This one is a keeper. I truly hope to own this one day.

A rather stridently inoffensive oud. This is oud for people who don’t like oud; the overwhelming note is a sweet Ambroxan/Iso-E super. It’s… interesting? They clearly tried to tame oud and make it office friendly or something. I personally find the juxtaposition jarring and off-putting but if you don’t really like oud this might be the oud for you.
Edit: Whew, what longevity! Smelled it on me on waking. Not sure if it’s the Iso E or the oud or both but has some amazing lasting power!

Not a fan of oud so I was nicely surprised with this one ! Lately everyone around me has been telling me to try this or that perfume, and oud really is too strong for me… I’m not comfortable wearing it. However this one is delightfully fresh, and has a nice sillage which is not too strong for an oud. I love raspberry but if it stays too long I feel like it smells very girly. This one fades away to leave a bit of sweetness and it goes along quite well with the scent. If I am to wear an oud, that would definitely be the one !

  18. :

Another Oud opens with a bit of bright bergamot, sweet raspberry and oud. The bergamot fades quickly leaving a sweet slightly resinous oud. The oud in this is relatively light what I would call “approachable”. I’m not a huge oud fan and I was surprised that I liked this perfume. The lingering sweetness along with the lightness of the oud will probably make this a “miss” for hardcore oud fans. However, I think this would be a great introduction perfume for those who want to dip their feet wet in the world of oud. I won’t buy a full bottle, but I’ll enjoy my sample while it lasts.

Wow… What an unpleasant and sharp medicinal smell! I’m generally not an avid fan of oud, but this one is particularly creepy (at least on me). It reminds me of Neo-Amisept, which is a potent disinfectant used for wounds and such. Definitely not something I’d want to use as a fragrance.
Can’t comment on the performance because this is a scrubber. The opening is quite powerful, though.
If you want an oud from JHAG, go for Midnight Oud (although the market is saturated with far superior interpretations of oud, so I’d totally look elsewhere).

I was very surprised by this fragrance and I’m glad I tried this one of this house first. Given the reviews, I was a bit skeptical or rather on guard and anticipating not enjoying it (unwise, I know). I love Oud and have smelled a few amazing ones. But when I spritzed this it was an instant love and I don’t know why! I am not a fan of raspberry because I feel I over did raspberry or rather the 90’s overdid raspberry(BBW). But this just smelled great to me. The entire composition is delicate in my opinion and makes for a great introduction to Oud in general. I definitely recommend trying this if you are leery of launching into a full blown barnyardy/and or medicinal/bandaidish Oud. I feel the Ambroxan is really gorgeous in this and it really softens the Oud that is there. I find this super light, sexy and warm. Like a warm, promising, breeze. This is really great for an early evening mixer or cocktail hour IMO, and I believe it is a perfect Oud fragrance for the marketplace where you won’t blast people away. All in all, the kind of Oud you can spritz and go right out the door, instead of spraying and waiting 30 minutes for the dry down “Safety zone” before going out among people. I didn’t find the raspberry very synthetic and remember, I’m tired of raspberry. Longevity was very good for me, about six hours and I didn’t spray full sprays. I would invest in a FB. <3

    YOWCH
I love me some oud, but this is so synthetic, so high and hard, it’s almost as if someone stole in in the middle of the night with an especially long and impossiblly slim pair of tweezers and plucked several hairs from the highest reaches of my inner nasal passages, and I am only just now feeling the pain.
    good god y’all

I am a fan of most JHAG and I really have a soft spot for Midnight Oud. This one, however I cannot get along with. Maybe it does not get along with me, I don’t know. But either way I really don’t like this one. It’s opening is very sour and it does not go away. Whereas the opening of MO is the same strong oud, it evolves and beautiful things happen. An hour into this and I can still get the bitter, sour smell dominating all other. If you want to try a JHAG oud, try the Midnight first. This one is not for me.

Another Oud is….just another oud. There are so many beautiful, rich, deeply opulent ouds out there, but this just isn’t one of them. A more contemporary composition, this almost qualifies as daily wear, office wear even. Its a casual pass at something luxe. It might well suit those looking for a lighter, more contemporary version of an oud fragrance, since it can be quite heady and heavy in traditonal perfumes. But in my mind that’s the way its supposed to be, lush, and luxurious. While I get what this fragrance was set to achieve – and actually did achieve – I think I’ll stick to more traditional oud compositions.

The first few whiffs reminded me of powdery cleaning detergent which evolved into church pews. At least, on my skin it did.

Oh how I wish I didn’t bombard myself with other fragrances yesterday whilst out at HOF.
From the bottle it smelt delicate oud. Very pretty. Next time I’ll try on my skin and update this review.

This fragrance has such a tongue-in-cheek name – rightfully so, because there are so many oud fragrances out there at the moment, and one has to wonder whether we really need another oud, for crying out loud! Anyway, oud wood is not what I crave for in a perfume, but I received a 2ml tester of Another Oud when I purchased another JHAG scent Mmmm… (another genius name!) Okay, enough with ‘anothers’, let’s focus on the actual review. So, the tester comes in a little white envelope with a card inside, which lists the following notes: bergamot, oud wood, cashmeran, raspberry and musk. (The card also admits what’s actually in it: alcohol, benzyl alcohol, water, perfume, limonene, linalool, citral, geraniol, isoeugenol and citronellol.) Fortunately the synthetic duo of raspberry and bergamot disappears almost immediately, and we are left with a very pleasant woody scent, strongly evoking a fireplace in the winter – warm, merry, cosy, smoky, aromatic. I like it, but not enough to buy it. Pass me another oud, please!

What can I say about this. I sprayed it on over the Not a Perfume, because they say you can layer those scents, but as soon as I did that, I had to wash it right off!! And I used soap and water and scrubbed and I could still smell it. It was the most horrible, disgusting scent and I hate to be so blunt, but it was just putrid!! Maybe I shouldnt have sprayed on the Not a Perfume first , I don’t know if that would of made a big difference! I can’t find enough adjectives to describe how awful this smelled!!

    Original house name.
    Tried this one …….. twice.
Why twice? because I wanted to test the longivity. Unfortunately, I didn’t get more than 4-5 hours on my skin.
The perfume it self is a (wearable) unisex oud fragrance, dry and clean with a nice bottle.
Don’t compare with midnight oud from the same house, the MNO is more feminin and sooooo rosy.
120 euros for 100 ml on the official web site. Reasonable
In all I’ll give 6-7 out of 10

I normally dislike unisex frags, and I did not appreciate Midnight Oud, so I was pleasantly surprised by this one. This is the perfect warm sweater by the fire scent.
It is warm and woodsy in a way that feels totally wearable for women. It is truly one that is purely unisex. It feels like a women’s perfume when worn by a woman and seems like a man’s cologne when worn by a man.
    Perfect for fall.

I just don’t feel that ice cream sundae synthetic raspberry is a natural companion to oud, it feels wrong. Maybe for those who like fruity sweet perfumes this offers an intiguingly different take, but I’d prefer oud paired with something more noble and traditional – a good quality rose is the most common, ambery resins or good vanilla. Anyway, I can see how this had to be made!

  33. :

If you’re a fan of oud and are hoping for something unique with Another Oud you won’t find it. It has the sweet and the smoke like so many other ouds do it just comes down to finding your preference of the sweet you like. Fake raspberry is not my cup of tea. I find this to be a perfectly suitable perfume but just another oud as its name states. It does teeter on bug spray much like Memo Luxor Oud to me. So far everything pales in comparison to Pid Saphir.

  34. :

As the description says, this is a tame oud. While it is still very noticeable, its warm from the amber and fruity. The general feeling is “clean”.
I love it. BUT, I can’t see where would it fit with me… It is a bit of an “special occasion” perfume or for someone cosmopolita, living in a city…
I am in a tiny island where not much goes on so I can’t see myself purchasing a full bottle. At the moment.
Edit: I tested it again with Midnight Oud on the other weist. I do not know if it was the result of comparing the two, but Another Oud was quite screetchy and I did not enjoy it like the first time… It was sharp and couldn’t get the fruits and ambers I got previously. BUT today I tested an oud oil and itvtotally changes the scent of other perfumes after sniffing it.
My conclusion: Oud perfumes have to be tested by themselves. I have to test Another Oud again to come out of this stale mate!

  35. :

    5 out of 5

At first sniff, it is a sweeter sharper Midnight Oud.
I can sense raspberry grasped by oud. The oud note is so noticeable, so intensive – it is able to suffocate you especially if you’re not fond of oud.
I don’t find the musk and the amber and I really wanted to.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

Really another Oud! It is an interesting parfum, with whispers of raspberry and musk..coming together with bergamot and ambroxan remaining in the background, light. Obviously the Oud is the main protagonist of this beautiful composition! hit me really leaves a trail heady, sexy, unique and somewhat mysterious…is very well done!! The Oud is not heavy, but there is the right way. I like how the other notes give bright and color to the composition, making it bright and fantastic! This is modern and charismatic. The sillage is moderate, and longevity is quite good. I really like this perfume… Love!! ❤
    Sillage: 7./10
    Longevity: 8.5/10
    Scent: 9/10
    Overall: 9/10
