I am an Evody fan but this one simply didn’t work for me; while other reviews here complain that it’s not really all that Intense, I found the opposite – it was extremely, even oppressively long-lasting and gave me a banging headache!
A great shame, as in smell terms it is a sweet, moderate, rather gentle sort of amber. For my money the associated incense is almost transparent – in a good way – this didnt *smell* at first whiff like anything which would be overwhelming. So possibly one of the minor notes (? the barely perceptible bayleaf maybe?) was causing the trouble for me. This is definitely worth trying if amber is your thing, and if you can find it at a discount (it’s often reduced drastically in price in TKMaxx and department-store sales in the UK) you will get a huge amount of ambery bang per buck – far more so than in many other things called Amber.
ETA: having tried a bunch of other amber things: the central amber in Ambre Intense is unusually sweet and persistent, and it doesn’t have as much associated resin/spices complicating the centre. But it’s those subtle variations which make amber scents worthwhile to me. So other ambers are the ones for me, but any amber fan should still give this a try!

Sweet, spicy and ambery scent that is very pleasant to the nose. Idk why I feel like I have already tried something that smells like this. Once again well done Evody..

    Longevity: 7/10
    Projection: 7/10

This is really not intense. Bad choice of name. You call something intense and you go into it expecting something big, bombastic, a bold amber that announces its presence.
Instead this is very very soft and the longevity is atrocious to be honest.
On initial spray (from manufacturers carded sample) the smell was pleasant. A very sweet amber with a slightly herbal undertone. The first few seconds were lovely. Sadly it just all kind of collapsed in on itself and went downhill from there.
Shortly after spraying, before the liquid is even fully dried on the skin, the projection level is no more than a skin scent. Smelled up close there is an almost cloyingly sweet over-ripe note, maybe an over ripe cistus or something forming the amber accord. It hovers very much on the line between sweet and sickly and cloying. I am not so keen on this note. There is also a very faint herbal note which I think is the bay leaf. So what I have is a very faint, super sweet and cloying amber with a hint of bay. And that is how it lasts for the duration – which is very short, around an hour and this has gone completely.
I don’t see how something can be marketed as intense when it is so soft and so short lived. If it were marketed as an EDC, called “soft amber” or something then maybe this poor performance would be forgivable. But for something that purports to be an intense EDP to be so mild and fleeting is not really acceptable, and the price point it sits at makes it just plain rude really!

The below review was a while back and since then I’d always imagined Evody to be a pretty good house, well never presume anything because the rest of their efforts I’ve sampled since just don’t cut the mustard.
So I managed to get a proper set of samples and this was one I knew I had raved about and was expecting to be disappointed a second time around…but no…It’s still pretty awesome.
This opens with such a sweet warming presence that appeals to me but if it stayed that way would become cloying. Luckily it doesn’t and quickly progresses passed the top notes revealing a pleasant amber accord and spicy incense with a hint of smoke and sandalwood. Where it lets itself down slightly is on performance, it’s not bad but gets close to the skin quick and is too subtle for something labelled ‘Intense’.
However, I stick to my original thoughts…Evody Ambre Intense is a superb Amber fragrance that makes you let out an audible sigh of satisfaction. I’m still really tempted to add it to my collection, and I’ve got (let alone tried) loads of ambers so that’s Praise indeed.

    Intense it isn’t.
A gorgeous balmy amber which is soft and has a wonderful sweetness coming from the patchouli. The incense and resin is fresh not smokey and the overall effect is soft.
This is a gentle fragrance in no way intrusive or bold and for this reason, leans in a mildly feminine direction.
That being said I would still wear Evody Amber Intense as I found it a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The first fragrance I’ve tried from this house and so far I’m impressed.

    195) Intense by simulating
In opening an original blend of amber and bay leaves with spices and pepper who seem guessed from distance.
It’s nice 20 minutes and then the scent vanishes completely. He has no projection, no sillage and yet I have to empty all the sample vial.
No interest, I do not understand how you can comercialised such a silly mistake.

I’m a major amber addict and own a lot, favourites including Etro’s, Prada Intense, Histoire de Parfum’s, Maitre et Gantier, Montale’s Blue Amber to name but a few! But this one has gone to the top of the long list. It’s slightly spicy sweetness and notes of musk and incense make it stand apart. Lovely for autumn/winter wear, but not too obtrusive either.Amber lovers must try it!
