Allure Chanel for women of Chanel

Share:

Description

Like all Chanel perfumes, Allure has a rich and complex composition. Fresh and citrusy at the beginning, it opens in lavishing floral heart to wooden and vanilla nuances and leaves lingering and fickle scent. It is best to describe it by the various accords it possesses:
Fresh: lemon and bergamot
Fruity: mandarin and peach
Classical floral: the rose of May, jasmine, water lily, peony, magnolia, orange blossom
Woody: sandalwood and vetiver
Oriental: vanilla
The perfume was created by Jacques Polge in 1996.

I’ve had this for 1/2 a year, and I can b-a-r-e-l-y smell it, and when I do it smells like pencil erasers. Coco Noir also is barely perceptible to me, but Coco does smell good. Maybe it has to do with the season as I can smell more from Allure the cooler it gets. Gabrielle smells delicious all the time.

Nice, elegant fragrance with well balanced sweet, floral composition. Very alluring….long lasting (all day and above) unique scent. It is simply a masterpiece in fragrance world.

If I could only have one bottle of perfume, I would choose ALLURE . Reading the reviews , I see common adjectives used for it : warm , elegant, refined, feminine , classy . I agree with every one of those !
There are a few perfumes I fell in love with at first sniff ( Euphoria and Paloma Picasso ) but Allure did not grab my attention in a startling way . I smelled it on my polished dear friend and thought it was classy and understated . Oddly , it is the fragrance I never tire of . I love the richness of the amber and the incredibly smooth drydown . I love the fact that it makes me feel like I am a polished lady when I wear it . And as others have stated , it is perfect for a woman of any age . It is also perfect for both casual and formal occasions .
There is nothing gimmicky about it . It is not sugary ,loud, or sharp . It is one of a kind and has the depth and richness of a Chanel . It is expensive, and to me it smells expensive .
I know that Allure is a French product, but to me it personifies a refined American and woman . I am in awe of Jacque Polge when I look at the stunning fragrance classics that he has created and that will likely be around in another 30 or 50 years.
(I do not buy many expensive ( $100 plus ) fragrances, because there are so many wonderful ones that are much more reasonable . The four that I have purchased that are pricy are : Givenchy Indecence , Dior Hypnotic Poison, Allure Sensuelle, and Allure EDP , and Chanel Coco. These all perform well, last a long time and are all rich and elegant – very elegant . )

Hi Mona, please try out the EDP! I have the same problem with the EDT! On my skin it is a bug spray for 5 minutes and then goodbye, but the EDP is heaven.. I get compliments every time I wear it. And I know other people who feel the opposite: EDP stinks / EDT lovely. Bizarre..

I got my edt back in 1997 from a friend, and I liked it than.
Later on I got pregnant, and didn’t like it anymore, so I gave it to my mum.
I got it back now (!!!), there is about 6ml left, it still smells bob-bob, but,
it never ever mingles with my skin :((
I’m trying to use it with layers, and hopefully I will find a perfect match for it :))

Allure EdT is warm wood and vanilla with soft touches of floral tones.
I am lucky to have pre-reformulated bottles. I prefer the EdT to the EdP.
Allure is sophisticated and easy to wear.
    I love it.

Reformulations suck!!! My goodness. So I left a review a few months back about this lovely fragrance and wasn’t very kind to it.. I said it was a polite and somewhat generic scent that wouldn’t offend anyone.. I sort of wrote it off as being a “meh” instead of a LOVE. That was with a new bottle. Well.. being that I am totally enamored with Chanel right now, I decided to give Allure another chance.. so I scored an older bottle from ebay.. and wow, how different it is!!! Much stronger. Heavy on the vanilla, somewhat powdery, strong sandalwood. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what the scent reminded me of.. and it’s vintage Samsara, with the beautiful Mysore sandalwood.
This bottle of Allure is like someone took the sweet vanilla of newer/reformulated Samsara and mixed it with Mysore sandalwood and honeysuckle. Absolutely gorgeous. Strong projection and lasting power, impressive for an EDT. I LOVE this perfume!! I feel I was so unfair in my previous review, all because I had acquired a reformulated bottle. Or maybe a fake.. it was from ebay after all, and a blind buy.
Anyway, this little vintage bottle of mine is going to get a lot of use and love out of it.. what a gorgeous scent this is. I am truly a Chanel fangirl.

I haven’t had much luck with Chanel fragrances and my body chemistry so I was delighted that this EDT smells so lovely on me and has such nice longevity. A happy accident, as they say. I’ve been wearing it for several days now and it is deceptively complex, so many notes coming together to create a smooth, rich intoxicating scent, and it does have that special nuance that it seems only Chanel can create. Could be worn anytime, IMO. I’m new to predominant vanilla, my only other experience being Mon Guerlain, but it is changing my mind. I prefer this over Mon G. as MG does not have the staying power or sophisticated feel of this. I have about 40 frags in my rotation (I only keep what works for me)so when I say I would buy this again, I know I am feeling something special.

Tested it for the first time in my life today. The opening was beautiful and had just a nice slight resemblance of Chanel No 5 DNA which I really appreciated (as I can’t wear No 5 EDP but I really enjoy No 5 L’Eau EDT). But the dry down was a complete turn off for me. I got a whiff of a light sour vinegar here and there as a trail :(((
Lots of people mentioned that Chanel Allure smells similar to the new release Dior Joy (but being tested on me, I found Dior Joy closer to Dior Dune EDT than Allure). Unfortunately Allure turned out that way on my skin while Joy did not. Oh well, you loose some and you win some.
I still think that Allure is gorgeous on the right person, just not me :(( And chemistry does play an important role in this one.

This is my beloved Allure! My signature for many years!
I also own the parfum of which I equally adore.
The Allure parfum to me is wonderful, yet so very different to the toillette, but of course sharing the same unique Chanel Dna. I like to wear the parfum in Autumn and Winter. It’s deeper, warmer and fuller with oriental woody accords also with peach & flowers! It is richer being an Oriental Vanilla! The toilette however is slightly complex, fresher, brighter and has a carefree vibrant personality! This is suitable for Spring or Summer, I’ve never tried it in the cooler months.
I detect the citrus and mandarines in the toillette, and certainly feel the sparkly happy honeysuckle! Magnolia and jasmine and a subtle vanilla in the dry down.
The Longetivity is fare but for a toillette is exceptable!
This is my ‘final touch’ in preparation for a positive! Productive & wonderful day! Its effervescent quality makes me feel great!
    Highly recommend!

I agree with one of the reviwers saying a generic perfumey smell. It Seems too artificial and cheap. I can’t believe I am saying this about chanel and the edt that everyone loves . I really love the edp.

What a great day – my Chanel order arrived which included Allure edt and Allure Sensuelle edt! I am normally an edp girl but occasionally an edt especially from a good brand can be better, it is rare for me though. However, both Allure Sensuelle edt and Allure edt suit my skin better. I agree with the previous poster – skin chemistry is everything with Chanel. It is really amazing. I have friends who smell lovely in the edp but on my skin the edp is just good, it doesnt blow me away- thats nothing against the perfume, it’s my skin chemistry. The edt doesn’t have the heaviness that seems to not settle well on me in the edp, it is difficult to describe the note and as I normally like a bit of depth to my perfumes it is unusual but the freshness the edt brings really lightens it up. The edt of Allure still has the same DNA as the edp (same story with Sensuelle) but is much lighter and fresher. Definitely prefer this to the edp for me anyway.

Allure EDT is a perfect scent to wear to work or anywhere you will be in close, confined quarters with people.. like maybe an airplane or on a road trip or something. Even if you douse yourself in this stuff, it is pretty much a skin scent, polite and inoffensive.
Lovely but maybe a little boring when you’re used to heavier fragrances. I don’t get much complexity.. it stays the same sparkling citrus/honeysuckle mix from start to finish, with a little bit of vanilla in the base.
I could see this perhaps shining a bit more on a very hot day, since it is very fresh and effervescent.

Like all Chanel perfume it’s very complex, and has depth and changes over time on your skin. I love the dry down on this perfume, it’s so snuggly and kittenish. I really want to buy it but I’m saving up for it as it’s pretty expensive.

citrusy sweet fruity floral and vanilla vibe, vanilla and white floral are prominently dominant from top to bottom, easy to love and easy to wear, sound vanilla very cheap here but it really smooth and more refined. vetiver and amber are giving me a mature feel, overall it smell delicious and yummy, chic and naughty at same time.

  18. :

Super longlasting for an edt, fresh and clean notes, elegant, expensive. Not seductive, but appealing as hell and really easy to wear! It makes me feel glamorous and unique every time plus I can smell it on my clothes for ages.. I was yearning for a long time to get a bottle for myself, and still consider it too pricey for my budget, but it`s a keeper – and for keeps. Out of all Chanels it`s the only one I`d go for (still want to smell Cuir de Russie) and the Sensuelle version keeps me interested also. Wear it during the day you`ll stand out, wear it in a warm evening and it`ll charm anyone..
Honeysuckle and magnolia is what I get mainly with wafts of jasmine and a slightly vanillic-ambery drydown. I don`t feel the vanilla to be dominant here AT ALL, it`s magnolia-honeysuckle and a firm underlying sweetness of vanilla from the first minute till the last. But vanilla is not the main player, definitely not, same as I get no fruity notes either, a bit of wood and amber maybe, which makes the scent warm and gives your skin a bit of a `sweaty` feel.
Not for winter in my opinion, the cold weather won`t bring out anything of this beauty, for winter choose CoCo or No 5. This is best worn as a weekend-away scent in the spring-summer or for everyday if you can afford it..LOVE. xx

This perfume is an elegant scent and I really enjoy the slightly citrus/vanilla drydown. My only issue is that the scent of the perfume on my skin seems to be shrouded in a “perfume cloud” smell. Almost as if there’s a layer of generic “perfumey smell” that’s hovering over the lovely and more specific/intricate scents, making it hard for them to come through. Probably not the best description, but that’s what I’ve got!

This has been my favourite perfume for the past five years. I found it in my mid 20s when I was looking for more sexy or grown-up perfumes. My favourites in my early 20s were light florals like Forever and Ever Dior and Stella Nude. I was trying to find more heavy, dark and oriental scents, but everything I tried (like Hypnotic Poison or Bvlgari Jasmin Noir) was too heavy and nauseating for me. I found Hypnose Senses, which I really liked, it was warm but balanced, and my lover liked it too but it reminded him of a talkum powder his mother used to use, so the search for something sexy continued.
Then I found Allure. My first impression of it was “classy”, I thought it smelled French and expensive. I liked it but didn’t feel it was me, because I didn’t see myself that way at the time. I kept a sample in my bag for a while to keep testing it. I had occasions when I was testing other perfumes and found them too cloying, or when I was feeling ill and generally annoyed by every smell – I discovered that somehow Allure was the only scent that didn’t annoy me at those times. It’s not too sweet, too sexy, too masculine, too fresh, too cheap smelling or too sharp. It’s just so extremely balanced. And so I started wearing it. And I found that I slowly started to see myself more like the sort of woman I imagined wearing this – grown-up, elegant and refined, and I became more like that in how I dressed and carried myself. My lover loved the scent as well so I wore it a lot around him. The tragedy now is that I no longer see him and Allure is difficult to wear since it reminds me of him. I still wear it sometimes, but I’m searching for others. I’ve found that Dior Dune gives off a similar balanced vibe, although it’s not quite as warm or refined as Allure.
Regarding formulas: the EDT seems more complex than the EDP to me so I prefer it, but the EDP is nice as well. I also have the hair mist and really like it since it’s a great size for travelling with and a lighter concentration so works well as a body spray. I find the EDT to be quite strong so I tend to apply it lightly, but the longevity is sadly lacking despite the strength, it’s gone on me in a few hours. I recently also got Benetton Hot since I heard it’s a good dupe for a body spray concentration of Allure, it obviously doesn’t smell the same but it is indeed very similar.

Classy, elegant yet fresh and feminine perfume. A floral that dries down to subtle notes of vanilla and wood while remaining light and fresh. It’s perfect for me as I am in the beginning of my twenties, looking for more complex, mature scents.
I like the fact that it’s not the most worn Chanel perfume (nowadays at least, I read in the comments that it was a big hit in the nineties !) and that it is so easy to wear.
I prefer the edt to the edp which is more fruity (the peach is really strong for me in the edp) and feels more dated but both are wonders in the fall and winter.
However I fear that the longevity and sillage are not that strong on my skin. But it lasts for days on clothes !

An oldie but a goodie! This was the first perfume purchased for me by a boyfriend, back in 1996. I was feeling nostalgic and ordered a bottle off eBay and wow… It is exactly the same as I remember it! Soft but sophisticated, light on the peach, heavy on the sandalwood in the dry down. This is a totally different scent than the EDP to me. Much more alluring and close to the skin but I get wafts of this throughout the day that mesmerize and remind me that I am wearing this beauty. Such a unique Chanel scent. Highly recommend!!

It will be hard to add to everything that’s already been said! This is indeed a beautiful fragrance. Modern, classy, and discreet without being boring. To me, it is a complex blend of soft citrus and vanilla. It is soft without being powdery and does not have sharp edges. It lasts all day and becomes softer as the citrus dissipates and lets the vanilla, amber, and sandalwood shine. Patchouli is listed as a note but I can’t detect it. It may just be very well blended and contributing to the prettiness of this scent in a discreet way.
I can definitely see this becoming someone’s signature fragrance. I have not purchased a bottle yet but I think I would love this for the office. And I know when “office-safe” is mentioned in a review, many people associate it with boring but this is not the case for Allure EDT. I love everything vanilla but some vanilla fragrances are simply too much for the office. I spend most of my weekdays at work so I want to have something special and classy that I love wearing and smelling without offending the people around me, and this perfume, with the discreet vanilla, is all that.

This is Perfect and is one of my very favourite perfumes. It’s sexy and sensual and suits any occasion you want to feel beautiful, day or night- fall, winter, spring or summer. The multiple facets to this perfume are indeed very alluring. People want to get closer to you to smell it. The perfume is well composed with a gorgeous mix of flowers, citrus, passion fruit, sandalwood and vanilla. It’s not too sweet but also not too sharp. It’s well balanced yet multifaceted and doesn’t easily fit any category. I have both the EDT and the EDP, but I prefer this EDT. This one is more dynamic. There are more notes and elements here making it stand out. Some people find this sharper than the EDP. This one has less vanilla and peach and does have honeysuckle, which makes the difference for me. I also find that the EDT lasts longer than the EDP on the skin and remains dynamic over hours of wear. It could be that the amber was used as a fixative to make this gorgeous potion last. It has the perfect longevity and projection. This is the first Chanel perfume I ever purchased, after many times trying it on in airports and perfume shops. The price was expensive, so I delayed purchasing it. Once I did buy it I haven’t looked back. The cost is worth it. A little goes a long way. It is sexy and alluring through every era and stands the test of time as a true classic. While I have loved other perfumes that were more part of a trend, their appeal wore off over time. I only love this more over time. It’s seriously classy and there is nothing else quite like it. Thank you Chanel!

Beautiful sensual floral composition with added vanilla. Very easy and pleasant to wear. I had a mishap with my original bottle by smashing it whilst dusting my perfume shelf. I thankfully found a great deal on eBay got it for a steal. I haven’t tried the edp so can’t compare suffice to say this beautiful fragrance makes me feel sophisticated and classy. I will never be without this beauty I love it. If you haven’t sampled Allure edt give it a try it’s a happy cheerful scent easy to wear. I’m sure it will get you compliments.

It is fresh. And anytime a fragrance is heavy on fresh notes I have the same reaction to different degrees. To me Allure smells of a pretty laundry soap. Certainly not the worst thing to smell on another person. I haven’t yet smelled a Chanel fragrance that wasn’t pleasing. But Allure is not for me

This is the Allure I love. Its fresh, prettily floral, daintily citrus and a very slight hint of vanilla/ sweetness. Good sillage and longevity. Smells classy and well made. I’d wear this is I want to feel elegant, pampered or rich. I wonder if the reviewer who smelled mosquito spray smelled the other Allure the eau de perfume…that one is not similar at all.
Anyway this and Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue are my new springtime wants.

The name says it all, for it is aptly named. It allures people. People just lean in and breathe deep. It’s an extremely beautiful scent and very sensual. Starts off slightly citrus-y with woods that later become peachy with noticeable honeysuckle and dries down to a beautiful scent of woods, vetiver, and creamy vanilla. Slightly on the powdery side. Longevity is a whopping 11 hours and this is an EDT. Sillage is more intimate, but that’s ok. You want to Allure people not knock them out. It settles as more of a gorgeous skin scent. Wearable all year but I suggest staying in AC when wearing this during the summer. It could become overwhelming sweet in summer heat. One of the best by Chanel and my absolute favorite.

I kinda in fence about this, for me it’s kinda smell like mosquito lotion, at least when I first spray it to my body, then dry-down into soft elegant scent- and I got so many compliment whenever I wear this fragrance…but still…that beginning notes…ugh

  30. :

    4 out of 5

The opening of this perfume is nice and fruity. It’s also soft; the amber rounds off any citrusy sharpness. The floral notes show up after a few minutes. Vanilla creates a sensual bridge to the deeper base notes like sandalwood and patchouli. It’s a warm perfume but it’s not heavy at all. You can wear it close to your skin. It’s kind, feminine and inviting like a mother would be. This could be a young mother or an older one. She’s modern at heart. She’s elegant but not super chique. You could wear this perfume in many occasions and seasons.

This is really odd but it smells of the opening of Samsara edp on me! Ive always longed for those top notes of samsara to linger throughout and allure edt is just that on me without the extra vanilla!
Gorgeous fragrance. I never was into Allure until it got reformulated. I have the 2012 version (Thank you Feltface). I have used No 5 in all versions, Coco Mlle, Chance and Coco, but Allure in edt is very me.
If this is not in your budget then its worth testing out the inexpensive Benetton Hot though it doesnt seem to have much sillage on me, i really like the smoothness of that.

I have the Allure EDT and the EDP and own many Chanel Fragrances and I love them all but they have there place. I only recently got to trying Allure ( I know !! where have a been !) I must say this is one of the most wearable Chanel’s I own together with No 5 L’eau .
Its absolutely gorgeous and I find myself reaching for this everyday single day .. Its Sparkly, soft and fruity all at the same time. Very addictive!!! and lasts the whole day on me. I Find the EDP disappears after a couple of hours cant pick up a single trace of it.

I have a sample, I feel the most vanilla and peaches. Incredible. It is more vanilla / oriental. Evening. Woody vet with vetiver and cedar. There is also bergamot, but such a warm sweet, from vanilla and rose this warmth. And lasted enormously … 11 hours somewhere like that.

This one never fails, you never tire of it, and it fits both the young woman and the middleaged women, because it is so elegant without being heavy or too flowery.
It is really unique, and it therefore reminds me of no other perfume, that I know.
I detect lemon and vanilla, powder and some woodiness

I own many perfumes and have several favorites . The frag that I NEVER tire of , and the one that puts me in a state of bliss with one spritz is Allure.
I do not think there are any perfumes worth a super high cost in the range over $100- 150 . At the end of the day it is still perfume. I have many beautiful fragrances that are not very expensive at all ( Casmir , Euphoria, China Rain, Shi etc.. ) . Though the price of Allure is never a “bargain” it is one that I feel is worthy of a higher price because it is PERFECT .It is not too loud or intense, not too weak or bland , not too focused on one note . Best of all it does not scream “vanilla” or ” fruit juice”. As others state , it is impossible to discern notes because of the smoothness .
I do not see how anyone could EVER call it dated. Like a classic work of art or beautiful piece of music , it transcends trends because it is the best in its genre.
When I walk out of the house wearing this , I feel I am putting my best foot forward and feel the perfume is the crowning touch to my effort to be an attractive woman- a lady. This fragrance is the only fragrance I can say I would never want to be without . It is truly a feminine classic .

Eek! I put my men’s Allure review here by accident.. sorry!
I have a sample of this, and like it for summer. I’m not big on citrus, but this is woodsy enough. I like to wear the men’s version, too. While I steer towards darker and muskier, this, if applied with a light hand, is a nice summer scent for work and daytime.

  38. :

It is very creamy and woodsy on me. I like the makeup cheek powder smell when I sprayed this on my clothes. And it is kind of frustrated the scent smells different every time I use it.

Allure is beautiful. Very classy, sexy and modern. It’s so well balanced between floral, sweet and citrusy notes. Perfect silage and longevity, gourgeous drydown. Word are not enough to describe it. Love at first sniff!

Gosh, but I love this scent. It’s warm, soft, lightly tart, floral and sweet without being a sugar bomb. Feminine, classy, just lovely. I’ll wear it for shopping, dates, parties, errands, house-cleaning, etc etc.
Yes, I am a total Chanel fragrance fan-girl, and this is in my top 3 Chanel, if not the tippy top.
I usually use 1 to 3 light sprays, and it lingers nicely. I can see that some might get a headache from this as it is somewhat on the rich side.

  41. :

The opening is intoxicating. Honeysuckle! Lemon cake! Makeup powder!
As it dries down, it calms down and settles closer to the skin. The notes from the opening are still present, but more subdued. I was wary of a fragrance with so many different fruit notes listed, but they blend beautifully–none individually identifiable, just there to enhance the rest of the fragrance. I love the slight hint of vanilla along with the powder in the drydown.
It’s not overtly sexy, but it is alluring (as the name suggests). It’s confident and feminine. It makes me feel grown-up and classy. I can’t wait to wear it to Thanksgiving with my boyfriend’s family! It’s a wonderful replacement for my Coco Mad EDP, which had gotten to be too much patchouli for me. Gorgeous!
My boyfriend smelled this on me yesterday and said I smelled “exactly like a woman should smell–classy, sexy, and fresh.” That’s a pretty high compliment from him! I think it’s a keeper.

A friend gave me her half-used bottle of Allure. The first notes that hit my nose made me think the perfume has been badly stored for too long, it seemed to have that ‘old scent gone bad’-aroma. But it took just a while that it disappeared and the scent started to bloom beautifully.
Allure is very rich in nuances, no single note stands out, everything is well blended. Vanilla brings some sensual touch to it, but Allure remains elegant and only subtly sensual.
I like the way the scent developes on my skin from something sharp into something soft and elegant.

  43. :

A quick sniff straight from the atomizer produces a hit of lemons. So fresh and beautiful. Upon application to my skin though I get less lemon and more fresh floral. It’s a mixture of floral with the fruit but not too fruity or sweet, blended with a fairly strong vanilla, although in no way is it overpowering. I don’t get any powdery vibe at all at any stage. And the vanilla vibe sits comfortably amongst it all but quietly after the initial application. On my skin it is a sweet fragrance but in the manner of a classique type fragrance, well balanced and refined, although with a bit of a modern twist. A youthful stylish classic from Chanel!

  44. :

Allure is a classic very french scent but I need to be in the mood for this talc powdery floral it has a breathy skin almost sweaty note to it which can be sultry but also a little uncomfortable in warm weather. I get many compliments butt no not particularly love it myself. A nice addition to my wardrobe and a nice classy day time scent but personally for me not worth the price tag.

Very hard to describe fragrance ….I am a floral girl and a Chanel style lover ..This perfume is the Chanel elegance and philosophy in a bottle , but with a modern twist ..I got a vintage bottle , I don’t think it has gone wrong in any way as it is stored in a seemingly good circumstances , at first it has a strange rather indolic smell , but it subsides very quickly opening the floral well blended heart , the dry down is heaven and I can’t for the life of me pick up that vanilla note , which is done here so masterfully it rather “enhances” but never “imposes ” itself if you know what I mean..Another thing , like all Chanel perfumes I have tested , this one is like a composition , almost impossible to detect one dominant note …A miracle of perfumery for sure as the comment below described it .

  46. :

    3 out of 5

    A miracle of perfumery
This fragrance is a full fledged fruity floral not a sissy or girly teen pre teen fruity floral. It struck me that the same notes found in Paris Hilton perfumes like Paris Hilton’s debut frag, Passport Miami, Heiress and Siren are here: honeysuckle, passion fruit, citrus and peony flower, but rather than being the timid and flirty body sprays that the Paris perfumes can turn into, this releases a more Oriental and deeper complex aroma.
The fruit scents are delicious, concentrated and spicy like Femme by Rochas. There’s a peach juice with passion fruit that has a tropical air to it. There’s also fresh zesty lemon and orange notes. They smell like summer cocktails at the beach, but in a more sophisticated way; again like when you wear Femme if you’re familiar with that fragrance.
Once the fruitiness settles down, the florals make their appearance. This is a powdery floral with delicate femininity associated with body powder and beauty salon scents. Smells just like when you’ve come out of the hair salon and had your hair done, your hair smelling so good. In this way it’s also like Dahlia Divin. This is for you if you like those type of perfumes, you know, powdery and make-up or cosmetic type of smell.
The rose and the peony are lovely and very well matched. The peony flower to me has a rose scent so this always goes back to that rose. It’s pink and soft. There’s also orange blossom, jasmine, and magnolia, not to mention a lotus or water lily. But the water lily doesn’t really stand out and they used only the smallest amount of it along with the faintest trace of orange blossom so that instead the powdery rose, peony and a white magnolia scent are the key players as far as the florals go. They are super feminine florals. Magnolia? Are you kidding me? Smells like something Scarlett O’Hara would wear. This is a beautiful and very womanly floral fragrance.
The imagery I get when I smell this perfume is a beautiful woman, nude, and wearing flowers, literally covered artistically and tastefully in petals of orange blossom, roses, jasmine and magnolia. The petals cover up her nipples and vag so that she is posing in a very artsy fashion. She is alluring and seductive with a come-hither stare. No man can resist her.
There was a time when floral fragrances were what men liked to smell on women. Emphasis on men. Nowadays younger boys want the girl to smell like cotton candy, sugar cookies or other edible treats. But frankly that got boring and typical after the age of 14. I like to smell of fragrances like this one. It’s also got some Oriental notes of musk patchouli and wood but they are not pronounced and it turns into either an amber or vanilla. I like amber and vanilla scents especially because they make a floral scent deeper and more luxurious.
This is an easy to wear fragrance and a fine intro to Oriental florals. If you wear Chanel Mademoiselle or Coco Noir, this perfume, which predates both perfumes, should be your cup of tea. This is as good as both scents and as wearable, not obscene or offensive not a heavy floral, light but detectable and so beautiful.

I wore this and someone said it gave her a headache. Well that was just too bad as I loved wearing it.

I have a beautiful miniature of this perfume, very elegant, just like the Chanel mythe. This mini bottle with its perfectly elaborated details makes you feel to possess a magic potion.
The color of the box and the perfume is in complete harmony with the scent. A light and fresh one to which floral accords brings complexity. And the last drops, vetiver gives the final identity to this fragrance.
Interesting that generally my skin brings out easily sweet notes like vanilla, but in this composition I can barely smell it (at least on my skin).
    A subtle scent!

Hmm… I’d been dying to try this one for awhile. With vanilla, magnolia and honeysuckle as stand outs I was so eager to have this. Unfortunately this didn’t work on my skin.
Allure, I expected to be a fresh, citrusy floral with an earthy, warm dry down. As soon as this stuff hit my skin it was spice and patchouli. No waxy fresh magnolia, refreshing lemon or sweet honeysuckle. Allure is dry, dirty and harsh on me. All that develops is patchouli and amber 🙁
