Description

Mugler launches the new Alien version in Eau de Toilette called Alien Flora Futura, coming out at the end of January 2018. The new edition is announced as a ray of light and optimism that releases the world from darkness.

An “imaginary divine flowers blossom in the hearts of the desert to reveal a new Alien Eau de Toilete” and its floral-woody composition. The top notes, named “crackling revelation” feature hand of Buddha accord – little tree that gives fresh, crispy and sparkling notes. “Flower Revelation” is in the heart where Queen of the night replaces jasmine as a unique flower that blossoms out of a cactus at night. The base presents “Creamy Revelation” with white amber and sandalwood.

Alien Flora Futura is available as a 30 and 60 ml Eau de Toilette.

Quite strong floral with woody notes, sandalwood and amber.
    Very Thierry Mugler like scent.
It seems to have great sillage and longevity, it’s a strong outstanding fragrance.
I even sense some powdery note in it.
I like it, but don’t love it like crazy.

The one I like most of the Thierry Mugler perfumes(after they discontinued Eau de Star). Even though this is pretty soft to be a Mugler, I still find the jasmine to be too overpowering. It is warm, spicy yet kinda fresh. Elegant in a way. But not my kind of perfume.

i was expecting not to like this as i am not a fan of mugler’s anything. they are all too heavy and nauseating but this ain’t half bad although a little synthetic. it is an edt so the sillage isn’t enormous and the longevity is still to be tested. i dont know what night blooming cactus smells like but to me it is a sandlewood and amber scent with a synthetic floral note. sweet but not overbearing. pleasant for the office.
the bottle is a bit too space age for me but it is alien after all. the pink glass is nice.

Not gona lie..I bought this because of the pink bottle..lol. Rarely do I buy a frag just because of the bottle..it has to at least smell okay to my nose/on my skin, and this one does smell decent enough to me.
While this is not an earth-shattering unique scent, it is still quite nice and fairly inoffensive..would be fine for the office and can go from day to night, and a good year-round fragrance.
I really don’t pick up the listed notes here, to me this is a vanilla floral scent. More of a yellow floral. Very slightest hint of sweetness. I really don’t pick up any of the woodiness nor amber at all. But that pink bottle drew me in, lol..and this is the first Mugler frag I bought mainly ‘because of the bottle’. Luckily this is also likable frag for me….And I know it’s a Mugler bottle design that’s been done many times over, but something about the pink and slight gold accents drew me in and made me want to see this on my dresser or my vanity. Moderate sillage and longevity.

Smelled this in store. Reminds me of the scent they pump into all of the casinos and shops on the Las Vegas strip.

  6. :

This is a more easily wearable Alien. It is softer and the jasmine is not the punch in the face that it is in the original. The jasmine actually turns into a soft powdery floral on me. The scent stays close. My only complaint is that the longevity is dismal. Overall, it is definitely on my wishlist.

I usually stay away from the Mugler line except for Angel Muse. Looks like I’ve found another one that works for me.
This is really pretty and not overwhelming, I think I prefer the night queen to jasmine though they are similar at first. There is an effervescent note and it reminds me of J’ adore but without the synthetic peach. The very light woodsy note is subtle and thank goodness is not sandalwood dominant. I should mention I don’t like the original Alien but Alien Sunessence is just ok to me. This is definitely my favorite of the Alien flankers.
All in all its surprisingly gentle for a Mugler, I guess they are branching out and producing scents to appeal to more people.
The bottle is really cool. I would actually purchase this. I wore this in warmer weather and got rained on but I can still smell it.

This one grew on me. I had a different impression of it when I read the notes, but when I tried it, it was a little more body-ody-ody than I expected, lol! Anyway, the genius of this scent is that it recalls alien but its wonderfully balanced for warm weather, and I do think its distinct from the other Alien flankers. Its quite dry as it mellows and it sort of diffuses softly around you which is perfect for summer; its not heavy at all.

  9. :

    4 out of 5

I used to wear night queen fragrance frequently, so I was really eager to see what Mugler did with it. Upon first spraying it was wonderful to smell my old favorite.
However, after it started to settle it got a little soapy. The dry down gets sweeter.
I think that while this is nice and I’d be glad to explore it more I suspect there are Cetus scents I like more.

Another Summer edition of Alien! I cannot get bored of them because of how light yet fresh and delicate the scent is!
The staying power in Flora Futura is not strong but is more than enough to make an elegant entrance.
For some reason, I keep getting the citrus and floral based notes first and hints of the wood and amber based notes later that develop into a warm, soft vanilla with wisps of soft jasmine.
Alien has been a go-to scent for over 10 years now, I cannot possibly get sick of it because it keeps transforming and developing a new character for every Alien out there!

It’s a beautiful fragrance; it’s flowery and fresh and not as sharp as the original Alien. The only thing I find disappointing is sillage and longevity: one hour after spraying it on it’s gone.

  12. :

    4 out of 5

Opens up beautifully with a light airy flower scent mixed with a zesty citrus accord that fits perfectly with the bottle’s pink color. Suitable for spring and summer and even the office and I think it’s a safe blindbuy and also gift. Not a beast when it comes to either longevity ( about 6 hrs) or sillage but probably won´t irritate anyone. The notes of sandal and buddha wood is light and creamy and blends really nice with the rest of the notes in this pretty concoction. The bottle is cute and I´m glad I have this in my collection.

To me this smells like Lady Gaga Fame soft sweet floral and a hint of smokiness In the background.

Beautiful bottle, a real gem! 😉 Also a very beautiful scent, and I am not usually a fan of Alien or it’s flankers (and believe me I tried, because those bottles are pure art). You can’t go wrong here, it’s a crowd pleaser. Fresh and flowery, and fortunately lacking that sweet note that all new perfumes nowadays seem to have, which makes this one actually suitable for women of all ages!
But I also keep having the sense that I have smelt this before, and often! Can’t wrap my head around which famous perfume it reminds me of, hope one of you helps me out! Is it one of the Chanel Chances perhaps?

I had a carded mini spray tester of this, and I used it up all in one day. I couldn’t get enough. This perfume is delicate, delightful and delicious. It’s sweetly floral and feminine, though it faded fast. I really can’t pick out distinctive notes, but all I remember was I absolutely loved it and would happily own a full bottle. A lovely scent for spring / summer day.

  16. :

    3 out of 5

I do not own any of the Alien line fragrances, although I have smelled Alien EDP and liked it. I might buy this one mainly because I think it’s probably the most beautiful bottle I have ever seen, or one of the best. The scent is described as a lighter and fresher version of Alien and I am so intrigued. I have to have this.

  17. :

    3 out of 5

Just picked up a bottle of this making it the third Alien in my collection and I’m really enjoying this one a lot! Have only the original EDP and Essence Absolue (which I ADORE) to compare to, but owning a lighter, fresh, floral version that I find I can spray heavily without becoming as overwhelming or a bomb as the other two is very refreshing. Another worthy flanker in my opinion, but I find after the beautiful and rather unique top notes fade, the unmistakable solar DNA of Alien starts to shine through in the middle stronger and stronger. Briefly it seemed hard to tell them apart at all. After that a fantastic drydown. Reminds me of a pink desert flower, airy and dry smelling initially but also juicy and fruity at the same time as you keep smelling it. Very beautiful! Excited to try this out in the upcoming warmer weather

Guys Opinion: (purchased 2.0oz blind for my girlfriend)
    ★★★★ (4 / 5 stars)
Wow. Not as polarizing as other Mugler releases she owns and the descriptions below calling it Diet-Alien or Alien-Light are spot on.
On her skin, the powdery amber florals shine with a girly feminine scent bubble. Nothing bold or animalic but a hint of earthy pepper to add depth.
A touch of a sparkling champagne essence throughout the composition and the sillage is quite intoxicating. Girly but just enough classiness to avoid it being considered juvenile.
The citron elements give off a vibe similar to Lolita Lempicka Edition d’Ete, or Yellow Diamond Intense from Versace – but less synthetic than those, and longer lasting. Can be compared to Alien Eau Extraordinaire but obviously the tea notes in that release shine. No tea notes here.
Excellent release and can easily grab hold of mens attention (aged 20 – 40 perhaps) if the skin chemistry works out.
8+ hours of longevity on my girlfriend and suitable for any environment.
    Love Love Love !!!

Very light bubble gum scent. Pleasant. Fantastic bottle.

Alien Flora Futura is a simple but sweet cocktail. The aroma profile is an ambery floral. The floral nuance is slightly heady, and very perfumy. It really gives you that dolled up feel with its heaviness. The amber is very well blended, and presents itself front and center without being overbearing or obnoxious in any way. It lets the florals lead‒which makes for a great touch in a woman’s perfume. It does well to preserve the feel of femininity, while the heated essence adds sensuality to it
The overall aroma has a very mature vibe to it, and comes off a little secretary-ish to me. Might suggest this for outdoor use only, as I find heady essences like this come off generic indoors. For an EDT, this is some really potent stuff, so just a little tiny spritz will radiate from the wrist. You might want to take it easy on the trigger. If you insist on wearing this indoors, you should probably just spray a little your fingers, and then rub it on your neck and chest for the best effect.
Based on its qualities, I would expect this could be hit or miss with the ladies. It’s something that would be youthful to an older woman, but mature to a younger woman. It’s not especially sporty in any way, more classy, sophisticated, and mom-ish. So that’s what a woman should expect to add to her palette with this one.

Fleike, there are many cacti and flowering plants, native to the Mojave and Great Basin deserts (you know, where I’ve lived literally my entire life), that have noticeable scents.
The hedgehog cactus immediately comes to mind, but that’s far from the only one.
There is a device, in your pocket, capable of accessing the entirety of mankind’s knowledge.
I’d like to invite you to use it.
    *Edit*
I just scrolled through your reviews, and it’s clear you’re a troll. Nothing I could say will change that, so feel free to disregard this comment and carry on.

I live in the desert, and while this cactus flower is tropical, it really does smell like desert flowers in spring here. I love the citron, I can really pick it out easily, but the cactus flower is what stands out the most.
It’s like an oasis in the desert. Refreshing but not aquatic. Definitely good for warm weather and desert summers. And the longevity isn’t bad for an EdT, although on me, it’s primarily a skin scent.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

On paper, I smelled white flowers and a green accord. Initially, a real departure from Alien which I didn’t detect at all. This doesn’t seem like Mugler. Dried, it smells like Alien.
On my skin, so sweet and surprising! I have no idea what the pulp of Hand of Buddha smells like, but I get the most wonderful sweet fruity beginning growing into a juicy citrus note. The notes directory here says that Queen of the Night has a vanillic quality, but I get a green, succulent plant smell. For a while I get [the original] Alien among the cacti under a great, glowing citrus sun. However, this alien is fugitive— it’s escaped Area 51 and is looking for a place to hide. I don’t recognize Alien for very long. I believe the woody note comes in and changes it further. I can just detect Alien amongst the woods and cacti and blazing sun.
The original Alien is a sharp, white, floral on me. There’s no syrup and definitely no grapes. I don’t like jasmine that much so I needed a real admixture of Alien and additional notes, not just some transitory fruit, flower, or spice on top of it. THIS is my Alien. I’d almost given up after trying two other flankers. And this one lives up to its name for me— cactus is a lot more unusual in my region than jasmine.

I did not even expect that I may like it so much, but I do and am even thinking about purchase. It is a warm, soft scent balancing between rich woody and amber and divine freshness.

Despite having the unmistakable Alien DNA, Flora Futura may be the first of its flankers I “only” like, rather than love.
There is a mistake in the note pyramid supplied by Fragrantica, which really needs correcting.
The top notes of the pyramid are citron – which is correct, and Buddha Wood – which is not. Buddha Wood is also known as false sandalwood or desert rosewood; that is NOT what is in Flora Futura. Mugler states “hand of Buddha accord – little tree that gives fresh, crispy and sparkling notes”.
Hand of Buddha is a variety of citron which is cultivated in China and Japan and is named for its appearance; the green or yellow fruit has long tapering fingers. If you click on the “citron” icon in the note pyramid and go to Fragrantica’s citron page, there are two pictures at the very top of Hand of Buddha fruit. The fruits aren’t edible, but are used in perfumery. In fact, there is a Hand of Buddha perfume made by DSH Perfumes, which is also listed on Fragrantica, although there are no reviews.
This is why the predominant notes of Flora Futura are citric, bright – and, yes – sparkling.
Night blooming cereus (at the time of writing) has been voted as the predominant note of FF – but it has a very dense vanilla-like scent – a prime example of its use is in Dior’s Addict. Flora Futura is not a vanilla perfume.
Once the drydown is reached, FF smells more like the original Alien… but it’s for people who don’t like Alien, I think; it’s Alien Light – a diet version. It’s very pretty and suitable for warm spring and summer days.
ETA Excellent longevity for an EDT (hardly surprising, given it’s Mugler) and sillage is moderate.

Pleasant fragrance. A bit sweet, a bit powdery. Different enough from the original Alien to justify it‘s existence. Although it is not very original, i like it more than the original Alien. It is feminine and light, good for spring, but a more intense floral note would not have hurt.

Sprayed it on my skin and smelled it for 3 hours and I am disappointed as I don’t get any floral notes and the amber is ever so light ! (sad)
On me it smells exactly like Alien EDP but lighter / toned down version.
I haven’t compared it to Alien EDT, but I suspect it is the same.
Don’t blind buy if you already have Alien EDP or EDT, try it on your skin first.
I much prefer the Alien EDP, much creamier, cosy and longer lasting !

  28. :

    3 out of 5

Definitely a close flanker of the original Alien EDP. I love ONLY the original Alien EDT and do not care for this one or other flankers from the same line. To begin with, this one opened quite sharp and strong with its “freshness” or “green” notes which I was not familiar with, but absolutely did not fall far from the Alien smell. I sneezed quite a bit after the first few sprays. And then the dry down was exactly like its Alien mother with white floral notes jasmine…
If you are a fan of Alien EDP, I have the feeling that you will at least like this (if not love), because of its freshness and it is a tat different than the original. The original is much warmer and sort of having a vibe of something smells like “salty plum”, or strong “clove”/“nutmeg” in the opening (which is also significantly standing out and easily detected in Mugler Angel to my nose. After all, they are all Thierry Mugler’s fragrances).
In case you wonder where I tested it from, as it is still not widely sold in big department stores in the US yet, I found these flankers while shopping at the Exchange center of Travis Air Force Base in CA. They have it there in 30 ml and 60ml size bottles.

  29. :

    5 out of 5

I like Alien Futura a lot, it is feminine, pretty, it does have in the top notes the Alien DNA, The jasmine is warm and rich..it tends to linger a bit..so the overall tone is mostly floral…whereas in Alien edp, The Jasmine amplifies, it gets more shy in Futura..the Amber dominates, and I love amber, Mugler does it so well.. I don’t get much lemon I admit., although there is a natural juiciness also..I don’t find it too much like Sublime, it takes a different direction…I like it way more!! It is almost summery , with a sunny aura, and a warm Amber …I don’t find longevity all that great , but on my skin , it lingers for a while..
I feel it is like an uplifting scent…after so many flankers, Mugler has yet to disappoint..this is one of the best in my opinion…lovely one!!

At first I got strong to Jasmin similar scent. It is less ‘loud’ and more wearable than other Aliens. White floral fresh, creamy, bitter, feminine and bit soapy. There is some weird note in background that for me seems… dirty. Maybe that is animalic note. After about hour it turns into inoffensive, floral based scent. Overall it’s modern, feminine, fresh, slightly woody warm, cozy. It does have some character if compared to most mainstream perfumes. Almost inoffensive. With time it bacame less bitter and more aromatic.
    Woman 25+.
Most seasons as long it’s not hot.
    Mostly evening.

I managed to get a proper spray sample of this as I just couldn’t tell anything from the free card sample patch, but I thought it had potential. I’m so glad I did as it’s wonderful! Really powerful too for an edt. Mugler know how to do flankers and the bottle is to die for. I will be getting a full bottle of this for Spring/Summer.

  32. :

    3 out of 5

This has become my favorite of the Alien line. I find it fresh and fuity in the opening/moddle andit becomes creamy sweet in the end. Absolutely love this. I saw some reviews on youtube and it didn’t seem loke anybody was super crazy about it, but I adore it. This, angel muse, and womanity are my top three Mugler scents.

  33. :

    5 out of 5

I find this to be a very pleasant floral with a hint of fruitiness and pepperiness but very much like the original Alien if only a slightly less intense version, such as an EDT. I don’t smell the Epiphyllum oxypetalum flower fragrance from this, but that would be a hard fragrance to replicate, I imagine. I blind bought this and will not send it back, but I don’t think I would have purchased it if I sampled it in a store first. I much prefer the sublime and extraordinaire flankers.

  34. :

    3 out of 5

I absolutely love this fragrance. I find it hard to wear the original Alien but this, to my nose is sparkly, effervescent and a total joy to wear. Still has the recognisable DNA of Alien however the top notes give a much lighter Champaigne type vibe. Floral and light and yet deep and with a weighty base. Perfect for spring and I found it very long lasting, especially for an edt. My favourite of all the flankers, bought it within 30 mins of trying it. One word to sum up would be ‘beautiful’.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

A bit of a disappointment for me?
I got a sealed sample patch through the post and when I first opened it I got a hint of that summery modern jasmine but mostly a heavily dated (in my opinion) screechy floral smell. I thought it was just because it was concentrated so I applied it to my skin and I wanted it to transform and wow and be a summery ethereal goddess but it was just eh…
Maybe my chemistry does not agree but I don’t get the strong heady powerhouse that all other Mugler fragrances have, it just feels shy? After just half an hour it dries down to a very inoffensive sweet drug store body spray smell. It’s just nice, and I don’t really fall in love with just nice. I wish I could see some elegant dainty beauty in its understatement but it’s really not Mugler to me. Mugler scents are strong and bold whether you like it or not but it’s just average to my nose and I feel a bit sad about it.
Overall it smells alright, but that doesn’t cut it for me. I can imagine this being a fragrance that is highly giftable since you would smell it and go yes that’s pretty I can’t go wrong. I guess it would be a nice work/day perfume for a more mature lady, or someone that doesn’t like strong scents, someone who wouldn’t go near the other Muglers with a barge pole. It’s just very safe to me for a Mugler. There are a lot of perfumes that smell exactly like this as it hasn’t got spillage or longevity and no defining features to set it apart from mid range pretty scents that are also in pink bottles… Mugler has strayed into a bit of a cliche with this.

Now available in the US. Just got mine in the mail today. I’m in love. Its so sweet and soft. Very floral and a bit powdery. Very elegant. Not super strong. Nor long lasting. But I like to layer though out the day. All citrus notes die down fast. It will be perfect for spring and summer. The bottle is so pretty too. So feminine.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

It’s magnificent. Very possibly Mugler’s best Alien flanker so far. It does have Alien DNA but it’s so beautiful it deserves its own title. The bottle is charming, but Flora Futura could also be comfortable in Aura’s bottle. I have some perfumes with the intoxicating smell of cactus flowers, but, I must say, Mugler’s captures this mesmerizing aroma better than anybody else. I ordered directly from Mugler’s website. I have no idea when or if it will come to any US department stores or boutiques, but this company will be missing out on massive sales if it doesn’t. If you love cactus flowers, do NOT miss this scent. Get it right from the website! On my skin this smells extremely similar to Mugler Aura, but with a stronger white flower accord.

Aliens kinder and less eccentric sister !dont get me wrong Mugler will always be a genius for its odd, weird and wonderful fragrances ,but this new version of alien is calmer ,creamier and more subtle ,perfect for spring and summer !lingers with floral swirls ,and dominates with Ambery richness !beautiful fragrance !well done Thierry Mugler on yet another amazing fragrance

  39. :

This is so pretty, it’s unmistakably part of the Alien family, yet much softer and lighter. The opening is really beautiful.
I don’t really find it has much staying power or sillage though, and there’s something that lingers in a transparent soapy kind of way that I’m finding a bit annoying.
It’s not for me, but maybe could be a Mugler for those who don’t do Mugler? I was waiting for this to see if it would be the Alien I chose for my collection, but I think it will be the original for me,

smelled this today, at first I thought, yeah this is alien, then left the store, then I kept sniffing my wrist, this is a very wearable alien for people who find Alien unwearable.will probably go back to the store and buy it, because lets face it, there are whole laboratories and scientists at Mugler.Inc devising new ways to relieve me of my $$$. I like it….but then I also grew to like Aura

I am that person who is not the fan of MUGLER’s fragrances and hates their whole Alien line.
HOWEVER! Since this one doesn’t feature their typical jasmine I am excited about this new launch. Hopefully it will be different from all that they had before. Notes sound very interesting and quite unique. I personally love when BIG brands create something unique smelling, even though it is not always “comforting” and what we are used to. Thumb up for the try to be creative;)

This perfume is a “let’s step into spring and summer” fragrance. Hmm.. actually let’s, hop, skip and leap into spring and Summer!
The bottle design is the lure here! Absolutely magical to look at. A stunning, mesmerising pink hue, reflecting brilliantly from the angled shapes like crystals. It’s a treasure to own.
A balmy white floral with comforting amber notes.
This could be a perfect wedding day perfume for those tying the knot in warm climates.
It is special. However it is not groundbreaking. It’s not a new fragrance we are all yearning for. It’s just a beautiful, levelled fragrance it plays safe.
    31.1.2018
Edited: after finally opening my box.. and spraying this delightful treasure, it’s an amazing mix of the original alien perfume DNA WITH Christian Diors pure poison..in regards to what it reminds me of scent wise, emotion wise.
Alien Flora Futura contains the beautiful Queen of the night flower and a warm comforting trail of sandalwood and amber is perfection. I need to get a back up this is classic fragrance signature territory.
As an EDT it’s longevity is as expected, but good. It’s a must have for collectors and I am routing for a better scent trail when the weather warms up. Great for our friends in sunnier places x enjoy x

Its already available in the Netherlands at Douglas online. I ordered it yesterday and today i was able to test it. Its a mix of Alien eau extraordinaire and Alien Sunessence Or D’ambre at first spray. Its fresh at the start because of the citrus. I dont know what Buddha wood smells like or the night blooming cereus but it setlles in one of those two notes but one of these lingers and it smells lovely. It will not last as long because its an eau de toilette, but i love wearing it. Of course the botlle has a beautiful colour.
