Description

Aigner N°1 Oud is Etienne Aigner’s latest addition to the AIGNER N°1collection, which already includes four fragrances. The new version—Oud is inspired by the Middle East and is the embodiment of luxury, quality and modernity. However, the perfume continues the traditions of the house of Aigner and remains in the spirit of the collection.

Aigner N°1 Oud opens with spicy scents of coriander, cinnamon and nutmeg. The heart beats in a floral rhythm of jasmine, rose, violet and clove. The most expressive note is of course oud, accompanied with leather, cashmeran and saffron accords.

The flacon of the new fragrance emphasizes its elegance and luxury, as well as the warm character provided by spices. The shape of the flacon remains the same as in previous versions, but its color is dark brown. It is embellished with the name inscription and a cap colored in golden color.

Aigner N°1 Oud arrives on the market in September 2014, as 50 and 100 ml EDT.

This oud fragrance has soothing smell and not too strong or tend to soft. This is unisex fragrance because the scent also reminds me of a woman powder scent.

Definitely a dress up fragrance but can also be worn more casually/ in the office. The main note I get is definitely rose with oud being a close second. After that, the spices add a nice complexity and blends quite well.
I don’t know if it’s the blend or the type of rose used but, althought it’s the main note, it is in no way a feminine scent. Unisex for sure and a hidden gem.

This is similar to Boucheron’s Jaipur for Men. It is a long lasting oriental, basically the nutmeg – cinnamon- coriander combo that lasts throughout the scent’s life. I get the rose scent at the half hour mark. The drydown introduces clove, suede and musk.
This scent also evokes memories of Dubai, and the unisex scent that men and older women wear over there. It’s an acquired taste, and a must have if you are a collector of scents. 8/10.

I have been wearing this for some time now,it’s really a sweet & intimate unisex scent a matured crowd.
Longevity to me on clothes & skin is superb
A lot of people say negative things about this perfume because of ignorance to the fact that everyone’s body chemistry is different as well as skin tone, climate etc which makes a perfume project or metamorphosise.
Try testing on clothes and see good results
    I highly recommend this perfume
I”m also a big fan Amouage Lyric Man & Ferrari Essence Oud which are similar because of the Rose & Oud ingredients

Aigner Oud is all about a lighter, dress-up oud–along the lines of Creed Royal Oud–that is warmly spiced with a nice touch of rose and floral notes rounding out the composition. I immediately liked this fragrance.
The oud is slight medicinal abut not overpowering to folks who don’t like the Montale/Mancera type of oud fragrances. It is as though you are driving a bottle of Montale Aoud and decide to take your foot off the gas pedal and go one-quarter throttle down the road. It’s a very nice and elegant oud fragrance interpretation that is safe for the office, and softly sensual in the drydown for more intimate settings. I feel this fragrance is completely gender neutral.
The cinnamon, hazelnut, coriander and cloves give N°1 Oud a nice spiciness from top-to-bottom and the leather shows itself a bit during the drydown. Longevity and projection are excellent. This fragrance has a familiar vibe to it–especially the drydown– just can’t place any similar fragrances at this time. Oud lovers will probably like or love this one. Conversely, people who don’t like oud (this is not a sweet, fruity or gourmand oud) may not like it during the first 2-4 hours, however N°1 stays within an arms length and later becomes an intimate scent during the drydown. This scent calms down an hour after the opening and sits much closer to the skin; it’s not a skin scent but it projects moderately for the most part. N°1 is just a touch on the peppery side…I would not be surprised to learn there was pink pepper in this fragrance as a top note.
The oud combined with cloves and other spices give N°1 a slight sourness and sweetness at at the same time, which is not atypical of oud fragrances. I had this experience from about 45- minutes to 2-hours after application. Initially, it seemed like honey or vanilla could have smoothed this one out a bit, but I am so glad it wasn’t added since I have enough vanilla oud fragrances. IMO, this fragrance will strike a very slight sour accord if you wear it in temps above 80 (like I did during the Summer) or a slightly sweet accord if you were to wear it in cooler temps. Not recommended for use in warmer weather.
N°1 projects moderately for about 4-hours and then slowly transitions to a close-to-the-skin scent at around the 6-hour mark. However, this fragrance continues to linger pleasantly on my skin for up to 14-hours. Overall, I would say it is long-lasting but not beast mode longevity because it sits pretty close to the skin after 6-hours…and is faint by 10. My impression is that it projects heavy for the first 1-2 hours, moderately for the next 2-3 hours and softly thereafter; overall moderate projection although I may revise my vote when I get to wear this in public when the fall arrives. Additionally, moderate projection is fine with me since I was looking for a safe, under-control, oud fragrance.
The drydown is a touch powdery but I barely detect it and it’s just the right amount. It’s also woody/musky, which I will attribute to the cashmeran. To me, cashmeran is an odd note since it can’t make-up its mind if it’s woody or musky or whatever. 3 hours and 45-minutes later and it smells the same…lightly spiced oud, woody-muskiness and a bit of light leather.
Moreover, the drydown after the 5-hour mark was quite nice..not so much oudy as it was wood-leather-musk. Moreover, there was a barelythere sweetness and spiciness to this fragrance–really nice and a bit intimate–that smelled familiar. Where have I smelled this drydown before? I’m scratching my head and my arse simultaneously wondering the answer to my question. Besides a touch of muskiness, I was surprised the drydown also had a light amber feel to it. Very odd! Regardless, it had transitioned into a very nice cuddle scent IMO. Oh, the leather is very light (not an in-your-face animalic type leather) so it may be imperceptible to many – it’s just part of the blend.
Overall, I really enjoy this fragrance. To me, it’s great safe oud to wear into the office, and then snuggle on the sofa after work. Right now I’m teetering between like and love. C’est la vie.

Blind bought this one for around 65 USD based on comments, result:
    VERY DISAPPOINTED.
You can not qualify this scent as OUD perfume. it is everything except Oud.
So powdery and sweet, it is not my kind of perfumes
So classy bottle but unfortunately don’t like the scent.
    Edit on december 3, 2016:
I have a different opnion about this perfume now.
Wearig it in a cold day, has in fact a different effect.
Still maintain the absence of the oriental Oud note, but it has a smooth powdery dry down. Absolutely unisex

I’m in love with this bottle. I’ve never seen or tried this fragrance but I almost want to because of the bottle

The scent of this eau de parfum is indeed more rosy than oudy, but I really love this way. This perfume describes me as a warm, soft, caring, and gentle person. Got compliments with this one even though I was only had it for a test in a mall. Others also describe this one as a rich-man scent. Funny, though, as Aigner No. 1 line are pocket-friendly, really.
It is similar to Ferrari Essence Oud, but Ferrari got theirs more powerful in terms of sillage, and possibly in the longevity as it can even stay for 5 days when applied to fabrics.
All in all, this one is a decent juice.

I own and love this fragrance it’s smells great and is a wonderful performer on my skin but the rose is just a bit too strong, if they cut the rose note in half this would be my signature scent. It reminds me of wearing an Oud/rose scent that has masculine vibe and then snuggling up to a woman in a rose scent, the two of you together would smell like this fragrance. I prefer to wear it right after a shower with cedar scented body wash.

Beautiful stuff, deep, animalic, leathery, intoxicating. It is a bit on the masculine side but that’s what I love about it…. It’s like the man am in love gives me a passionate hug and I can smell this wonderful juice on his neck. Love applying this before bedtime and oh… Firstly I get the spices, warm, aromatic followed soon by leather, Oud and rose. Rose and cinnamon smooth and soften both oud and leather, together they make a great combination. After sometime it turns more leathery, like a new and expensive bag full of roses and spices. Projects well and stays a long time, at least on clothes. Very impressed. A favourite.

The opening on me is very medicinal – I guess it’s the mix of cloves and other spices with alcohol. Luckily it either subsides after several minutes or my nose gets used to it. After about 30 minutes the sweet undertones strike in, but they never outshine those spices, so the final effect is both spicy & sweet (not too sweet though). I can smell cloves, leather, oud, saffron and coriander, but the rose is so subtle on me I can barely detect it. Longevity is great, especially for an EDT – about 5-6 hours. The sillage is appropriate for this kind of scent, so not too overbearing. Overall I think it’s a fantastic scent for men, but I can’t see many women wanting to smell like this – I think the blend is a bit too spicy and loud for a woman. On the other hand, this is such a unique composition that it has the potential to become a signature scent of a confident woman, who is attracted to unisex/men’s perfumes. I can’t think of any women’s scent that smells like this one.

i have to agree with those who said that Oud in this rather inferior.. i detect strong rose in the opening, but don’t get me wrong, it’s still in the light level..
    very smooth and sweet..
reminds me a lot to Scent Story 24 Platinum.. though i have to say that 24 is better, slightly..
but again, as everybody has said that with this price, can’t go wrong..

This was a bit different than i had
expected, it smells very oily, and it
doesnt project that well, very close
to the skin, it reminds me more of a
good smell than a fragrance, kinda like
a massage oil, and i think its a bit feminin,
but overall it has a very luxurious feel, at the
    price its worth checking out.

    90% sweet, 10% woody.
Warm indeed but not truly oud.
It, undeniably, has a Middle Eastern vibe but the oud is unnoticeable.
I stare at the notes as I bury my nose in the testing strip & I’m baffled.
    I can’t detect the notes.
Unisex, but leans toward feminine more due to its sweetness.
A beautiful, safe smell but don’t come here if you’re looking for “Oud”.

  18. :

This is what you call a lite oud fragrance the oud is there but it plays so close to the skin.Theres not that much projection to it.But for the price your really not losing.

Well, guys, seriously… this is absolutely amazing juice. I don’t understand why the fragrance community is not hyping it up. Totally underrated!
It is really very good start for those who want to experience the oud note – it is not that sharp oud found in many (cheap) fragrances, rather it is very smooth, very soft oud. I can guess that the saffron plays a big role in the final result.
I consider this fragrance a Tom Ford Private Blend Collection quality for much more reasonable price. Don’t miss this beauty. I am just saying. 🙂
@daniel.marinov.79: the projection and longevity will be heavily dependent upon your skin but if you spray it on your clothes, it will last for days.

Fahrenheit Absolute….This is what i thought of when i wore Fahrenheit Absolute today. It took me an age to think of what i was smelling. Then it dawned on me. It’s not identical by any means, it just really brings me there at certain moments.

Just smelled this again at a department store…it reminds me of an old perfume that i had but couldn’t remembered what it was.
The longer I smelled this, the more I like it. But I’d prefer Acqua di Parma Oud

Can anyone tell me how does this compare with Aigner No 1 Intense in terms of longevity and projection?

@trinity13… This obviously has no citrus and i prefer this over ADP Oud. It starts off sweetish from the rose, oud and saffron and is backed up by the woods. there is a spiciness from the cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg which make out for a great sweetish cinammon smell on the dry down. A great safe oud for people just starting out with the note! i do recommend it overall!
Edit: As Jim has stated the dry down is familiar and i also cannot place where i know it from!

I tested it yesterday in Douglas. Incredible fragrance! Very warm and sensual. The oud and incense remind nice and familiar combination of already M7 and Ferrari Essence Oud. I recommend this one to every oud lovers!
