Part of the latest generation of synthetic musks (the oldest one goes back to 1888), Helvetolide® is particularly
valued for its delectable pear note, reminiscent of ambrette, a vegetal musk extracted from hibiscus seeds. It was patented in 1991 by the Swiss company Firmenich, hence its name, derived from Helvetia, the Latin term for
Switzerland.
Helvetolide® gives off a softly enveloping, long-lasting aura; an otherworldly feeling of stillness and weightlessness. Rather than using Helvetolide® in a “classic” way to enhance other notes, Frank Voelkl boosts its ethereal vibe in a futuristic composition that seems to conjure the scent of zero gravity. A pink pepper comet brings out its fruitiness. Cool, metallic iris underlines its affinities with ambrette (which has an iris facet). A nebula of vanilla, tonka bean and ambergris underline its sensuousness. In German, adrett means “neat” or “dapper”: in this spare, smartly trimmed scent, each element is essential – as it would be in outer space.

I layer this on fragrances I find too heavy or too rich in violet to make the scent a bit lighter, cleaner and easier to wear.

Soothing scent, clean skin, but even better, feels calming. I can feel wrapped up and comfortable, as when you return home after a long journey and rediscover the known atmosphere, the goodness of being back.

The top note of this one is the smell of an ancient rug, a Persian rug!
I remember this smell very well when my country was in war. It’s the smell of the rugs that was filling our house basement specially when all rugs were washed by a foaming liquid soap, OH MY…. i am smelling that scene NOW! so clean and so ruggie, like the carpet of Aladdin, so fresh, woolly, and super comfy.
I wish it remains like this until it vanishes.

Sweet and elegant scent. Very fascinating and sophisticated and at the same time strong and powerful. Firstly you feel the sweetness of pear , then it tremsins on rhe skin the impact of musk and amber which make this scent unique . It is very feminine and fashionable.
