To be honest…I have several MFK and each one of them is better than this…it is not great….average at the best….I would buy it if I could find it in less than 60 eur…I would not pay more for this…The same applies for Amyris Homme

This is my SOTD and I have to say I am pretty disappointed, it smell like a cheap designer fragrance to me and can detect anything of quality for the price, gladly I only purchased a 5ml decant to try out- le sior seems to be the only one I like from this line. 5/10

Basically a lemon soap, with lavander, iris and violet nuances

The drydown smells really lavender. So calming. The citrus will blast but the drydown is so calming.

Absolue Pour Le Matin shares a similar thyme accord with Cologne Pour Le Matin, but the proportion of other notes are rearranged. It still opens with tart, aromatic citrus and herbs, but the lemon has a much lower volume, while the lavender is much stronger with its metallic sheen than in Cologne Pour Le Matin. Although there’s occasionally a grassy nuance, the overall effect is still much sharper, almost disinfectant-like.
20 minutes later, the iris and violet step in. The iris is more creamy and pillowy than rooty, and its woody undertone also makes a bridge with neroli. The violet here is short of its sweet, herbal nuance, but appears extremely clean and almost white, with a fine-grained powdery texture, as if the violet is bleached. These clean, pillowy, pale purple duo manage to soften the previous sharpness while maintaining the overall weightlessness of the composition. But at the same time, they also render the aromatic herbs and citrus more muted and less invigorating. Since I enjoyed the vivd thyme in Cologne Pour Le Matin, my feelings towards this phase is conflicted.
Fortunately, while the citrus and thyme fade into background, green neroli and fragrant, almost metallic lavender restore the tonic, aromatics freshness. Absolue Pour Le Matin is now an elegant interlock of neroli, lavender, iris and violet, exuding a pure, clean and serene aura.
Absolue Pour Le Matin doesn’t change dramatically afterwards. It only becomes softer and rounder, with a violet-candy nuance occasionally popping up. The sillage is mostly close to skin, and the longevity is a bit more than 6 hours.
I enjoy the pure, refined dry down of Absolue Pour Le Matin, but the disinfectant sharpness of the opening is not my cup of tea. While I usually love iris and violet in fragrances, here they appear too clean for my personal taste, although I must stress they’re absolutely harmonious with the composition. If you happen to be looking for a fresh, transparent fragrance with traditional cologne elements, but would like a more refined, serene, muted atmosphere instead of vivid and invigorating mood, I think Absolue Pour Le Matin is well worth a a try.

This perfume gives me energy and makes me feel relaxed at the same time, probably because of the sharp citrusy and strong lavender notes.
It was my favourite for several months because it literally made me feel better!
I’m not such a fan of the strong powdery notes, I understand the comparisons with Nivea because of these notes.
One of my favourites from MFK.

June 2016 – received a GENEROUS sample (don’t remember when) some time ago. Stashed it along with other samples. Pulled it out today and it fit my mood perfectly. It is a 90°+ day, I’m tired and want to lounge. I showered, turned up the fan and spritzed this on. Very pleased. Relaxed, fresh, clean, light and airy. Just read here that it is being discontinued. I own Amyris by the same house and I LOVE that fragrance. Depending on how this wears as the hours pass I would have seriously considered purchasing this. I like fresh herbal scents.

Scent – lemon, iris, bergamot & violets.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, day or night.
    Projection – I didn’t get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
    Longevity – I get 8hrs consistently.

I find Absolue Pour le Matin to be a very nice lemony, herbal, soapy scent with a powdery accord gently encompassing this fragrance. I like it but I don’t love it because–although a gentleman could pull this one off–to me, it’s a much more feminine scent. Having said the aforementioned, I feel that it’s fair to say that I would love to smell this scent on les femmes.
Performance is a pretty good for a Spring/Summer citrus scent on my skin; it lasted a solid 6-7 hours and projected slightly above average…and very well for the first 2-hours before settling down.
If this were a woman’s perfume I would be apt to give it a love. However, being that it’s unisex (and with no masculine qualities) I’m giving it a like. It is definitely a very nice quality Summer-Citrus scent the ladies need to check-out.

Absolue Pour Le Matin is a warm weather fragrance that gives you a sense of well being. The powdery Iris at the top accompanied by the Neroli and bright citrus is smoothed out by the resinous Amber, balancing out the opening. After about two hours there is a slightly sweet woodiness emitted by the Violet and the creaminess of the Lavender. I love the way this house does Lavender. To me, Absolue Pour Le Matin is definitely Unisex and slightly leans Masculine. I tested this a few wearings and determined this was definitely bottle worthy. I own several from MFK and love them all the same.

Nivea cream with lemon… Niche? maybe, but I’ll pass.

At my office there is a lemon-herbal soap in the restroom. One day when I was wearing Prada Infusion d’Iris, after washing my hands I noticed a smell a lot like this one. That baby soft iris powder mixed with a bright zingy lemon. It’s a bit disconcerting. I think MFK Absolue pour le Matin would be a nice fragrance on someone who isn’t me. I think it would work wonderfully on a gentleman. I need something that makes me feel wonderful and this makes me feel all right.

A beautiful powdery-citrusy scent. Calm, clean and comforting. On my skin very long lasting, the sillage is quite poor. Perfect for holiday or in the office. I do suspect, it works well everywhere.

A bit too herby and earthy for me. I found it quite masculine. Three s against of iris there which I like but over all it’s too spicy for me.

Very nice as an everyday morning fragrance… Doesn’ t wow me that much though. The soapiness and powder it’s prodominant for the whole longevity iof this fragrance, which i have to admit lasts pretty good to be such a soft scent. Despite this you may want to give yourself a few extra sparys, as it comes across quite light it might not last a very long time on some skin types.

Great review Woodland! You’ve summed it up masterfully….. When you spoke of ‘reapplying in the evening’………., I thought: “No no no no no no………” That’s why Kurkdjian created Absolue pour le Soir (*_*)

  17. :

    5 out of 5

Very lovely opening – a soft floral/citrus quality that feels like an enhanced classic eau de cologne.
Very balanced with iris and subtle violet lending a creamy/powdery refinement and neroli lending woody warmth
Into dry down the herbal notes are more apparent, and thyme gives a richly astringent leafy undertone, though it’s still smoothed with the creamy floral facets.
Beautifully balanced, I’d spray this on first thing in the morning, but re-apply in the evening quite happily, though the feeling of Absolue pour Matin is quite informal, it’s still elegant, and lasting
Very likable! It could be up there with Infusion d’Iris as one of my most easily wearable day-time perfumes, the only issue is that it costs twice as much!
I’d also say it’s more unisex than Infusion d’Iris

Lemony, lavendery, powdery kaleidoscope of quality shifting scents that change as you move. It opens with a citrus splash and dries down to a mixed montage that changes as your nose saturates with one and moves to another. It smells peaceful and serene. The sillage and longevity are short though. A good scent for meditation.

reminds me of Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche
    White, pure, powdery, fresh, lemony.
Also may remind some of white almond frangrances like L’eau D’Hiver

Absole Pour le Matin is bright and airy, but as a couple of other folks have noted, for me, longevity is low and sillage is weak to moderate at best. Now, it is a summer daytime scent, so I would hope it is not too strong in terms of sillage, but because of the poor longevity, I could not recommend it as a buy. I am a fan of the MFK line, but there are far more interesting ones. In fact, I prefer the “cologne” version, Cologne Pour le Matin because sillage and longevity are much better without being too fierce. I also find the cologne has a bit more character.
I too do not get the thyme smell with this one.

perfect summer perfume. There’s a hidden violet in the middle that is simply beautiful. It makes me joyful.

Soapy, minty lemon cough drop mixed with some kind of flower…lemon dies off turning really semi-sweet? floral….very rich, natural…lemon back on full time but its mixed perfectly with the flowers…the lemon in this reminds me of the lemon and oakmoss in Eau Sauvage…deeper into the heart and it now reminds me of a very high quality cologne. Interesting…

This is a dead ringer of a Nivea cream scent. Soothing, comforting, clean.

Wow! Generally the “this perfume reminds me of” function here on Fragrantica is total BS.
But this does smell nearly identical to Prada Infusion d’Homme.
Nice and clean. Expensive soap. Very pleasent. You may not be a fan of it, but i don’t think anyone can possibly hate the way this smells.
A good 4-6 hours of mild projection. Then becomes a nice skin scent after that time.
Not worth the money at all.

To me, white floral, citric and more on feminine side. Great for women, not for me.

  26. :

    5 out of 5

Burst of citrus followed by powdery lavender and violet flower. Very slight peppery note I believe comes from the inclusion of white thyme. As with many of Kurkjdian’s unisex fragrances, this one leans more on the feminine side. Bright, jovial, and warmed by the morning sun. As this is an eau de parfum, there is a clear difference in sillage and longevity in comparison to Cologne pour la Matin. (14)

Adorable scent. I can feel the lavender very strong in the opening, soon it followes by powdery iris, lemon and musk. Very soft and airy at the same time. It`s like wearing a silk blouse and minimum makeup and looking stunning and bright at the same time.

i got a GIANT blast of lavender and citrus and then it was kinda like
someone stuck a bar of violet iris soap and powder puff in my mouth. Also, yes, it has a asprin plus nivea mixed together smell
Eventually the lavender evaporates and it settles into violets candy
    de-candied
This might work for others but sadly does not work for me

  29. :

A citrus opening followed by iris and violet. Pleasant, but sillage is low. It reminds me of Guerlain’s Apres l’Ondee, but Absolue is cleaner and more modern (obviously), and it lacks Al’O’s powdery heliotrope. Both have a transparent. ethereal quality.

A more natural smelling Infusion D’Iris. Very nice but not original and definitely not worth the price tag

  31. :

The opening combo of lemon and thyme give off a fizzy lemon sherbert accord which seems to dominant all other notes. It is a accord I do not like and it lasts so I do not get a chance to appreciate the other notes.

After sniffed this once at the shop and immediately have felt for it, I received a sample of this from the lovely Gorgonna in a swap.
Now I’ve noticed this goes better with my nose and chemistry on some days then other, probably according to what I ate lately. But today I’m feeling so connected with it!
It probably has been said earlier, but really smells like a big pot of Nivea-crème. It gives me such a nourishing, homey, white, light, comfortable feeling like a warm house with a wooden floor with floorheating and big windows. If I someday will have a husband, I’ll definitely will be buying a big bottle of this and will put it somewhere in the house on a dressoir so we both can use it… And if there will be children even they could use it!
Sighh… You see what a perfume can do with your immagination?
Anyhow, to keep it punctual: it’s a creamy musky citrussy (but not the sharp kind, and I really swear to smell some musk!) fragrance, good for any sexe, any age. The staying power is great (certainly 7 hours) and as far the sillage goes it’s one of those ‘waft’ fragrances (those you smell once in a while through a waft of air). And it really doés evoke a ‘morning’ (matin) feeling. Love!

I have a sample spray from this and for me is quite a big(good) surprise. I must say that I am very surprised about the notes because after 10 min I can definately smell narcissus, don’t know about the others, but on me this has huge lasting power and very good sillage. Must get a bottle…I’d say, if you love Infusion D’Iris, but you are unsatisfied about the lasting power, try Absolu pour le Matin, I am very much in love with this, perfect summer scent. In my opinion this can be used day and/or night.

I have recently started to “appreciate” the many fragrances on the market. However, I was on the look out for something distinctive and refined. I actually obtained a sample of Cologne Pour Le Matin and after finishing it, I wanted another. I was fortunate enough to go on a trip to Paris over New Years, and I made sure to stop by the Francis Kurkdjian boutique. I went in with full intention of purchasing Cologne Pour Le Matin. The saleswoman explained that Absolue is the eau de parfum version, more concentrated and longer lasting. She also insisted that I spray it on my skin and leave the store for about five minutes to let the scent settle as well as not be overcome by the other fragrances in the boutique. I detected a burst of lemon and something floral..I don’t know if its the thyme, iris or violets in this fragrance, but for me it is intoxicating and lasts at least eight hours on my skin. Needless to say I purchased a bottle of Absolue Pour Le Matin. Throughout the day I periodically detect a wisp of the fragrance and catch myself smelling my shirt just to detect the scent again. I think it is quickly becoming my favorite. It is highly versatile and can be worn day or night in my opinion. As I left, the saleswoman dropped several samples in my bag….unknowingly, she made me a repeat customer. I highly recommend this scent…it’s delicious….you can instantly tell it is a high quality product and not intended for the masses.

First, there is a strong scent of lemon, and thyme. Within a few minutes I smell the iris, violet and the thyme intensifies. It lasts about 3 to 4 hours on me. It stays close to the skin with little to no silage. I obtained this as a sample and to me, it has no wow factor and I have no enthusiasm for it except to say it is an innocuous scent. By all means, test it and see how it does with your body chemistry.

  38. :

The scent of lemon came through first; followed by the fragrance of a woman in the 1940’s walking through a department store, which was nice. Kind of the scented lipsticks they used to make. Then it is completely ruined for me with a medicinal smell, something like the old Bayer’s Baby Asprin scent.

(Disclaimer: I tend to judge FKs scents more enthusiastically because I’m quite certain he will read it, drop a line to thank me and offer to give me a fragrant kiss the next time he is in San Francisco…)
Alright… a new release from the world’s sexiest nose. My comments remain the same: Maison FK gets it’s inspiration from stepping out of the shower. This one smells like clean hair.
Iris and violet- nothing new, but what does FK do with it? I have to say this is not a typical citrus aromatic, it has a heavier opening (probably the neroli), and the citrus only lasts for about 30 minutes. After that it becomes a ‘hanging on your clothes’ fragrance, and is clean and fresh.
This is light, subtle and intimate. Very well done, and fun to wear. This won’t offend anyone, it’s so natural. Yes it’s clean and pure, like Anne Hathoway before she decided to take Oscar seriously, but it is also interesting and refreshing. I enjoy all phases, there isn’t a single complaint I can say except this: longevity. But I will try again to see if it lasts longer than 4 hours.
