Description

After 5…the night is young, there is music in the background and the famous NY Avenue livens, the air is filled with electricity and romantic expectations, promising an evening full of passion, the party is just getting started…This feeling of gaiety, romantic mood and excitement was succefully bottled up in this new perfume by Olivier Gillotin in 2005.

This scent came to my possession by an accidental sale run in tkmaxx..I kind of liked the orignal 5th Avenue so I expected this flanker to be somewhat similar – I should have known better, as the other ones I tried were anywhere but close to it..:-D And this one is no exception.
It opens up very sharp, synthetic and dries down to a simple honeysuckle-birch-citrus-sandalwood combo. It isn`t a bad thing, but somehow it makes me recall the Green Tea-line and D&G Light Blue at the same time.. Basically in the beginning it`s slightly citric, sharp and at the same time refreshing. On my skin it is a bit like lemon icing, but as time passes it becomes sweeter and a bit more woody in the drydown, yet again I`d rather it just stayed fresh as it is in the beginning..
It wouldn`t hit top scores in the sillage and longevity department – didn`t last more than 3 hours and had to respray – although I can see this a good option for the spring and summertime when you want no heavy scents, but even then I would probably still opt for the original 5th Avenue instead of this one..
All in all it`s pleasant, but nothing special. It`s not too sweet and refreshing so if you like fresh and slightly woody scents and you see it on sale, get it and try it, you might just love it! I can`t see repurchasing it though as I`ve better summer scents than this one..

I got slapped by incredibly tart bergamot in the opening. Smelled so acidic and something like a floor polisher. But I was brave enough to let it settle. The drydown is actually pretty nice with birch, sandalwood and honeysuckle.
The scent still smells quite tart on me, but at the same time fresh and somehow interesting.
    Definitely spring and summer suitable.

Very sharp, maybe an older tester bottle?
My impression of this is very different to others.
I think it’s acidic and metallic, and I was pleased to wash my hands.
    EDIT
I GAVE THIS AWAY TO SOMEONE I VISIT, NOW, SHES USED HALF THE BOTTLE SND ITS NIW THE HIEGHT OF SUMMER.
I get the acidic ess, but it’s softer metallic. Not horrid, she likes it and it smells good on friend.
I wouldn’t be nauseous to borrow it from her -but it seems like the perfume had to breathe and be exposed a bit to become what it is. Same with the other bottle I gave her

I own(ed) several of Arden’s perfumes and like them for the most part.
I don’t blame some reviewers for being on the fence about After Five. I really like this fragrance, but need to use it a little more before I decide whether I “love” it. Other reviewers are not wrong when they describe it as a “gem”. It really is a surprising, lovely scent.
I’ve now come to expect a similar smell among the 5th Avenue line, just as I experienced with the Green Tea line. While I do detect similarities between After Five and NYC Limited (and vaguely the original 5th Avenue), this fragrance holds its own.
It has a softer, creamier, and cleaner smell. It’s not extraordinary, it’s not the most memorable scent there is, and for an EDP, it sure disappears fast 🙁
But it’s clean and soft, and despite the name, it’s appropriate for all day and evening wear, including the office. The dry-down leaves a beautiful, inoffensive, close-to-the-skin scent.
I’ve experienced bergamot in other fragrances and it came out as a loud, screeching note. Not with After Five. All the notes seem really well balanced and don’t change much over time. I’d be comfortable with respraying this on my skin without worrying about body chemistry changes negatively transforming the scent.
I owned and love the original 5th Avenue (which was a repurchase on more than one occasion) and the NYC Limited Edition. Within a year, I can count the (few) number of times I reached for the NYC. There was nothing remarkable about it, much as I liked it. I believe it smelled like one or two other fragrances that I owned and liked more, so it was forgotten. After trying it one more time this summer, I finally gave it away to someone who was over the moon about it.
Between Style and After Five, I settled for a blind purchase of After Five based on reviews and don’t regret it.
I would not repurchase it once it’s done since I believe I am done with the Arden line. Most all the scents I bought started to smell the same, which is a clear indication that I need to forget about them for a while and come back to them in the future to appreciate them more.
Bottom line: this was a safe and pleasant blind-buy. I will enjoy using After Five year-round, but I would not repurchase it based on familiarity, longevity, and sillage.

It was a blindbuy just because I found it for a steal(it was a sealed barely used 4.2 oz bottle which I purchased for 14$)and also my other blindbuy from this line was successful(5the Avenue NYC)
    It’s an absolute hit!
I never imagined to find such an interesting perfume this cheap!
I love it when I can detect different listed notes and it’s the case here.I thought it’s going to be just a nice but generic perfume and it’s intresting notes won’t showup but as soon as I spray it coriander says hello to my nose.I know coriander from agent provocative eau emotionelle.back then I didn’t like it but gradually I started to appreciate the unique spicy-aromatic-herbal edge it gives to a scent.
When first sprayed I can get coriander and a hint of saffron blended with bergamot and a lush and sweet plum.this stage is tasty and intresting and I’m positively surprised.after couple of minutes plum fades and is replaced by a floral bouquet.though honey suckle is one of my favorite floral notes,I wished saffron-plum combo to last more.albeit corridor is more consistent and doesn’t leave honey suckle alone and lasts for a long time.well this isn’t my favorite stage.maybe because there’s no more plum sweetness to cover bitter edges of coriander or it may be because the overall scent is getting drier
Luckily soon enough woody notes come closer.well I don’t have a fixed emotion towards woody notes.dominant woody notes can ruin a perfume for me but here sandalwood is creamy and rounds the edges and birch is here to make sure 5th avenue after five keeps it’s uniqueness.I don’t know how birch is supposed to smell but in this stage on my skin there’s something very similar to suede/warm skin note in Lacoste pour femme.like a warm, soft, clean and feminine leather
just in drydown I start to pickup jasmine and musk and they’re subtle, almost creamy and clean just like woody notes
5th avenue after five goes through different stages of development and I enjoy this olfactory travel.it starts as a sweet(not too much)and spicy fruityfloral then turns to a floral with rough, bitterish aromatic/herbal(I don’t mean green by using this term)undertone and finally dries down to a rounded woodyfloralmusk.it’s not the prettiest smell ever but it’s pleasant and original.something that I expect from an expensive highend or even a niche fragrance!
Elizabeth arden 5th avenue after five is not a loud and glittery club scent,it’s not really dark either but it’s a great evening scent just as it’s been promised in it’s name.it’s also wearable during day and for office, year round.it’s rather inoffensive but is far from being boring or unoriginal.I see it as a classy feminine scent, warm, pleasant, comforting and clean, sensual and sophisticated but I can see that a man can also pull it off without much difficulty.since it’s opening and drydown are totally different I highly recommend you to try it on your skin and give it enough time and keep in mind that what lasts with you for a longtime is the drydown and first stages are there for less than an hour
My first experience with this line,NYC,was leaded to an amazing longevity but soft sillage(sillage was moderate at first but it soon dropped, but it lasts as a skinscent on me forever and I can smell traces of it until I take a shower!).longevity is the same here(I think it’s something about my skin as it doesn’t last on my sister more than seven hours)but fortunately sillage is better.it doesn’t pass moderate, just keeps it’s projection for longer time.I even like it’s bottle(except frosted plastic part of 5th avenue line’s cap).it looks simple and classy just like the juice inside
I’m very much satisfied with this new member of my wardrobe. It’s not what I usually go for.I even don’t think I’d wear it often and I know that this huge bottle will last a lifetime for me but I sometimes crave it and go for it specially when I want to step out of my comfort zone .I highly recommend everyone to try it(on skin and with patience)and I see it a safe blindbuy for whoever likes Lacoste pour femme(not that they’re similar.they’re totally different in first phase but share similarities in their drydown)

Every now and then during my perfume search a little hidden gem appears and this beauty is one of them. I never even considered trying any from the 5th Avenue range but after reading through the reviews I thought I’d get this one. I think I hit the jackpot first time. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Such a lovely, creamy, floral smell. I can’t even describe it, it’s unique, I certainly haven’t tried anything like it. Very feminine and comforting. My best advice to anyone is to go try it, you’ll love it 🙂

  7. :

In a word, this is versatile. Do I love it? Will YOU love it? I do because it has a place just like many of my scents. It’s a feeling, a mindset. If I had to split my perfumes in half and throw away half of them, this would go. But there are days when I would love this more than ALL of them. Just not as often. So I love it, but it’s not really a “love”, MOST of the time.
Will YOU love it. Probably about the same as me unless your CRAZY in love with this, which could be more than possible! Most everyone can love this SOMEtime. It’s a great gift! The clear bottle and liquid are a favorite of mine. I like that “pure” look. It’s like the first waters of the earth.
To compare this scent so you might have an idea of what I smell would be, Paris Hilton’s St. Mortiz. I don’t think it’s just ME. I think you certainly can smell a bit of St. Moritz IN this scent.
I can’t comment on the lasting of this scent yet. It usually takes awhile before I am sure. I’ve had to come back more than once and rescue my lying reviews! But I can say, it’s alright for sure. It’s cheap enough that if it only last a few hours, it’s worth the buy!
I hope you enjoy your bottle as much!

I wear this in two different days, so far, this perfume stands out among my other decants in that it leaves no impression in my mind, positive or negative. That’s pretty weird, usually I can tell if I like or dislike wearing a particular perfume, even though those preferences may not be strong. But toward After Five, I’m totally indifferent. The scent is there, but… it’s just being there, so unrelated with me.

I had to put this on over the top of another perfume I’d put on early this morning, because I couldn’t stand it (the too heavy coconut smell), and thank God for this HEAVENLY PERFUME!!! I has righted the wrong! It is divine! Gorgeous!! Such beautiful florally smells! This is only the second time I’ve worn it, and I love it even more than the first! Oh……..sublime! I’m happy now. Thank you Elizabeth Arden. I love every one of yours I’ve tried so far, and it’s been a long while for me, finding the right perfumes – I never seemed to find anything I liked before! I’m thrilled with these, and I can’t wait to try them all.

This is a gorgeous perfume. I’ve had it on for 10hrs now, and it’s still just as strong! The smell changes quite a lot throughout the day, and every one is gorgeous! Very smooth and soothing, fresh and florally, and lots of deeper woody smells as well. It’s a total pleasure to wear, and every now and then I get a good whiff of it, and so many different fragrances, from soft to quite intense. Beautiful. And yes, very elegant too. I love it.

Elizabeth Arden have it a little rough I feel. They make truly high quality products, but suffer a little with their ‘old fashioned’ image. After Five is a very elegant, fresh, sweet flanker, very different to Fifth Avenue. Very sweet, fruity opening, which develops into a smooth, floral, musky scent with creamy sandalwood. For the price it’s selling at, it’s a must have.

After 5 is a fragrance of a warm Sunday afternoon at home on your day off when you’re not really in the mood to meet friends, to go out to a movie, or to do anything but stay at home, put your feet up and read a book or watch an old movie on Turner Classic Movie Channel. This scent is delicate and very easy to love. I’ve worn it next to my man who finds it very inoffensive and sweet, and he cuddles with me while wearing it. This fragrance opens with honeysuckle plum and coriander. For a brief moment it almost smells like Femme by Rochas but that one is much spicier. This has a spicy coriander note which is more of a flash and it’s gone. It’s mostly a delicious plum scent at the first spritz. Then I smell all the flowers: lotus, lily of the valley, jasmine and saffron. These are soft flowers not heavy at all but very floral as the fragrance gets into the heart and it takes a while to go through the floral scents. It’s mostly a floral but then it has some woodsy notes (the birch tree note) and Tonka bean which is vanilla scented. It’s a lot like vanilla in the dry down. Sweet and very very nice perfume to wear at home or if you wanna wear it out it’s for casual use, casual wear, not formal or bold sexy for a date night or anything. Very clean, very nice fragrance without any complexity. I loved it.

I don’t know about After Five, I would say Before Five in the AM. This is a perfume I would wear to work during the day. Lots of Citrus and Coriander makes this a pleasant fresh daytime fragrance.
I have never been to NYC but I am sure the city is much more electrical, passionate and exciting then this perfume has described.
Still a good fragrance just not one I would choose for an exciting night out in New York.

  14. :

    5 out of 5

A classy and sophisticated fragrance for daytime use. The only disappointment is that it is not long lasting on my skin. Somehow it reminds me of the perfume Beautiful (as someone else mentioned before) but in a light version.
Don’t be fooled by the bad reviews. You need to try this wonderful perfume!

  15. :

    5 out of 5

Doesn’t have a bad smell, it’s actually ok/good but not extraordinary.
Birch, white flowers, bergamot, coriander and a little tonka bean, saffron (very little) and lotus.
    Doesn’t last too long/good.

This scent is clean and pleasant, not a powerhouse one. Inoffensive and relatively mild, the name After Five might fool others into thinking that this is an evening, out-in-the-town scent (as one review also noted). It’s more of a daytime ladies-who-lunch scent, or when one wants to quietly unwind for the day. I don’t get the furniture polish smell like some, or laundry detergent. It’s likeable and I will use it. When first sprayed on my skin it comes as a strong floral, then after a few minutes turns into a clean, soft and elegant scent. I wished EA didn’t brand this under 5th Avenue (as another review also mentioned earlier) because one would now compare this with the original.

  17. :

I blind bought this because it was on offer. it smells like furniture polish to me as another person said…
I ended up using it as room spray

This fragrance is so lovely! I bought this for mother’s day, and I found it at a relatively inexpensive price (a 125ml bottle too!). My mother’s favourite fragrances are CK Truth, Eternity, Eternity Summer, and Contradiction, and everything about this perfume has the same vibe: elegant, clean, mature and understated. The flanker is streamlined, simple and non-gimmicky (wish the sweeter, spicier fragrances I tend to wear would come in bottles like this), and the fragrance itself smells woodsy, herbaceous and has white florals throughout. It’s a little difficult to pinpoint individual notes in this fragrance, but I don’t think it detracts from its appeal. It doesn’t project too much, but when someone passes by or when you go in for a hug you can definitely detect it, like a whisper of sophistication. Love it, it’s perfect if you prefer your scents to be a little more mature 🙂

It has similar vibe to Crystal Noir.

    I’m confused here.
Reading the listed notes I thought that I could love this one.
I quite love regular 5th Avenue and wanted to see if I could have a new delicious perfume for the same appealing price. No, I can’t.
I saw this on offer at 19 euro the big bottle and luckily there was a tester.
I sprayed on a paper and thought it was not bad. Quiet vanillic tonka, a tad generic, some flowers…
A quick tour of the shop and decided to spray it on my wrist. That was my mistake. I was hit by a big cloud of what seemed harsh grapefruit to me. Maybe a fool bergamot? Where is the honeysuckle?
I felt so disappointed. I kept smelling it just in case it would change, but no, it stayed to its “grapefruit” thing.
I tried other perfumes so by the end I was a little overwhelmed. I went out for fresh air and sniffed After Five again, but to no avail. Nothing happened. It was already fading away.
I want to try it again in a few days.

I have the perfume Gel and I quite like it; no hints of furniture or hairspray for me in this; just a nice floral. I do prefer the original to this scent but this Gel formula is still very nice.
Lasts for about 4 hours on my skin.

  22. :

For some odd reason I really honestly like this one, something about it is pleasant and not offensive to my senses at all, unlike 5th Avenue. After Five is pleasant, a fragrance I would reach for again and again. A friend described it as a clean smell that kind of reminds you of the scent of white flowers in spring.

  23. :

This smells like Pledge furniture polish, fabric softener and hairspray.
But it`s not totally unpleasant. :-O

I had the opportunity to try this tonight. I wish that I could get the same results as a lot who posted here but unfortunately Elizabeth Arden scents have never really worked for me. I try with other scents that I come across like this one just to see if maybe one could work for me, but alas, it is not to be.
This came across as hairspray on my skin and that is not the first time that has happened with Elizabeth Arden scents. Oh well, on to the next one!

  25. :

Less is more. That is how I describe this classy, classic fragrance. Not every perfume has to be in-your-face and over the top. Quiet sophistication is just as effective. When I smell it I get an image of Audrey Hepburn in a little black dress, gorgeous black hat, a pearl necklace and a lit cigarette gazing wistfully through the window of Tiffany’s. I shall say no more..that about covers it.

  26. :

    3 out of 5

I like the smell of this. However, for me, it is too soft. The only way to smell it is to put your nose to skin. Why bother? I prefer bolder scents. It smelled powdery, floral to me.

I am not a fan of Elizabeth Arden fragrances. But Been wanting to try out 5th avenue for a long time, based on the reviews from this site. Well, last week tried out 5th Avenue, as well as After FIve.
After Five appealed to me more. In fact I can say this was one of the best I ever tried. The first half an hour was pure bliss , the richest, creamiest perfume ever. perfect blend of honeysuckle , plum with woody notes. But alas, it did not last more than 45 minutes , after that all I got was a faint whiff of little Tonka bean and some faded floral. That’s the end of the story.
Aaah, the bottle looks so tacky….nothing remotely pretty about it.

Ellen Tracy/Ellen Tracy is one of my absolute favorites—my go-to fragrance, always comforting and appropriate. I love the long, drawn out sandalwood dry down especially. Based on this love, I was drawn to After 5, which is frequently compared to ET and also has sandalwood listed as a prominent note. I apologize in advance—this review will be a contrast between the 2, because I’m trapped in that mindset.
After 5 starts quite sweet, with a plummy floral note. After 5 is sweeter than ET, and somewhat more floral without the very robust (and somewhat artificial) plum note from ET. The initial sweetness quickly combines with a relatively faint, pale woodiness; it is a pleasant combination, and very unobtrusive—this would be a perfect perfume for work (no idea why it’s called After 5; that implies an evening scent). This woodiness is not really a distinct sandalwood, and it has an artificial quality like that generic smell of clothing in the mall. I much prefer the sandalwood in ET, which I find to be strong, round, mellow and soothing. The drydown for After 5 also doesn’t last nearly as long as ET; the sandalwood drydown of ET lasts for 6-8 hours on me, and lingers on clothing. After 5 has faded to only a vague woody skin scent after about 5 hours total.
If you liked ET, but maybe found it to be too strong or masculine or with too much sandalwood, or you wanted more sweetness, I think you would enjoy After 5. If you are like me, and love the strong sandalwood side of ET, then don’t bother. As it stands, After 5 is a simple, pleasant, sweet, light oriental-woody fragrance that would be appropriate for casual or work-related occasions; moderate sillage and good longevity.
EDIT: after wearing this all day, I will say the longevity is better than I thought. It is very gentle but persistent, staying with me until bed time as a soft, woody-floral note that was slightly artificial but still pleasant and soothing.

Smells like perfume. Reminds me of Estee Lauder’s Beautiful, but less floral and “beautiful”. Just perfume.

I used it a few years ago for a while. I found a cheap bottle yesterday and I decided to buy it. I still love it. Elegant, modern, spicy, well blended. It works very well on my skin. I like very much plum and saffron, just because plum is not too sweet and saffron is not too heavy. A beautiful fragrance for everyday use.

I bought this on a whim from a bargain bin not knowing any of the notes – the spray bottle itself smelled a bit like the original which I have had in the past and when sprayed on it was a bit bland but within 10 minutes and walking around the store it had evolved into a lovely musky powdery slightly spicy aroma and I decided to buy it. At first try I picked the notes out as hyacinth, lilly of the valley like the original, tonka, and a bit of saffron with a slightly white-chocolately melted wax type note not unlike Omnia. Looks like I was right about a few of those a bit surprised about the lotus and the plum but it is definitely a clean yet musky non-offensive scent that would work in an office/every day wear type setting. I liken it to others such as SJP’s lovely, Estee Sensuous and Red Door velvet – easy to wear, non headache inducing, quietly sexy white floral and a bit musky but definitely not irritating to anyone as it really is a skin scent and worn close to the skin without any great sillage. Alot less sweet than the original which was overbearingly sweet on my chemistry. I will happily use this bargain up.
I have just realised a similarity between this and an old perfume I used to have called versace ‘Baby Rose Jeans’ it has a similar powdery rosy sandalwood powdery base but is not as sweet.

  32. :

this was a blind buy for $12.99(for huge bottle). Unlike other reviewers I don’t find it spicy at the slightest. Its very light, citrusy floral that is rather dry(as someone else have noted)…I could barely smell it and I sprayed it all over myself. I find it that on me it turnes into a skin scent immediately. I will still use it up but in my opinion, it needs to be layered with other scents to really give it extra something…its just too bland otherwise

I got a 30ml bottle of this and it really isnt like 5th avenue. While I loved 5th avenue enough to call it my signature scent, after 5 doesnt seem to cut it. It just doesnt smell good on me. The opening notes smell spicy. Eight hours later its still there and the base notes just arent coming out on my skin. I dislike really spicy notes and the review doesnt exactly mention it when I blind bought it. It doesnt really matter though. I can jusr stick to 5th avenue. I just kind of thought it nice to try others down the line thats all

Not working for me, very lemony, clean, almost like wood polish to my nose, it can be found real cheap, not a surprise really!!?? It is very American smelling to me, lost from the 80 ties, I just didnt take to it at all. Not that it is oldish, it isn’t modern. Or sexy. Or feminine. Kind of a cold scent really.

Always try before you buy this perfume. It feels very plain to some people, but when it works, oh! it is an irresistible, elegant, complex, long lasting, great sillage miracle! I would say it may be suitable for any age too.
I found this perfume while being pregnant, and it was a perfect match for me, it even became my signature perfume at that time! I thought it was a love for life, so I bough an extra bottle, but after giving birth the charm of it was gone! Gone completely! I still feel the passion to itm but cannot use it anymore and even dislike it.

I sprayed this perfume while I was in the store. Then I went to a different store and completely forgot about it, as I was standing in line I could’t help but think OMG I can’t believe the lady in front of me smells like the most repulsing air freshener, doesn’t she realize how terrible the smell is? I couldn’t wait to check out and get da hell out of there, as I was walking out the stink kept following me and I was like WOW this stinks all the way over here! As I sat in my car I realized that the smell was coming from me, right there I almost fainted. When I came to my senses I was quite fast to drive home speeding just so I can shower off the cat’s pee out of my body. Wow what an experience!

A dry sort of clean scent. Abit cold. But very sophisticated. I get the wood notes especially birch, also saffron, white musk and a hint of plum. Not a fan of the opening, but it gets better and better as it dries down, I just love the combination of dry woods and white musk. Aloof and minimalist, yet I also find it comforting and quietly sensual. Like someone else has already mentioned, indeed the scent brings to mind shopping malls, new clothes, new bags! And also the scent of a woman’s clean body after toweling off post-shower, hair still damp. And crisp white sheets in 5-star hotel rooms. I appreciate the dry, almost astringent nature of this scent (it even parched my throat when I had my nose attached to my wrist for 2 whole minutes), but just a tad bit more floral sweetness or a pinch of amber would have toned down that astringent note and made it absolutely perfect. It does smell expensive. But it’s also very easy to wear, and versatile enough for all year round. A cool, discrete beauty indeed. An ageless sort of scent, neither young nor mature. Something to reach for when you need something more subdued. Perfect for the office or daytime, and I loved using up my sample just to lounge around the house in my bath-robe after a nice long shower. I could even fall asleep with it, it’s so calming. I’d love to buy it, but I have enough perfumes for now, next year perhaps. Staying power is good, sillage is light but noticeable, price is great. Oh, and do not buy blind! There will be many out there who will not appreciate certain aspects of this scent, maybe find it too simple or too clean, too sharp, etc, so test first.

Bought this fragrance as it was on offer. Awful is the only word to describe this perfume. Smells very synthetic and very cheap. It may smell good on others but not on me. I found the musk overpowering and lingered for over 12 hours on my skin.

This smells like a department store? YUM! New clothes? If there is ANYthing in this world that can compare to perfume, it’s new clothes! Clothes and perfume, this must be a heavenly perfume. Now….just now, is the first time I’ve ever wanted to try this.

I read the reviews. I have this fragrance in my collection over five years and its down to half bottle. I sort of forgot how it smelt. Soooo I ran for it and sprayed it on…..and re-read some of the comments, analysing the scent with each post. I agree with it not being in your face, but also not young either. It is not a “stand-out” scent. However its beautifully serene. I like it actually.

Had this and returned. It was extremely generic and non-descript smelling to my nose. It smelled weak and watered down as well. Sadly, none of the notes really stood out to me….just lightly sweet, clean and faintly musky. Lasted only ten minutes on my skin until fading into oblivion. I really like 5th Avenue Nights…..to me it has more character, strenth and longevity. I believe someone mentioned that After Five smelled like a department store…and yeah….kind of does in that generic-smell-nice kind of way that a department store has with all the new clothes, millions of perfumes and air conditioning. Not memorable.

I was very surprised when I first smelled this. I found it for such a great price that I didn’t think twice about this blind buy. I was expecting a heavier sent due to its name but I was wrong. This is such a light and beautiful scent. The sandlewood softens the musk and makes for a casual, feminine fragrance. There is something about this that reminds me of Ellen Tracy, not quite identical but very similar.

Blind-buy and I am not well pleased. After spraying it, the ist 10-15 minutes is trully bad but after that it smells pleasant and clean like brand new clothes. You just have to get past the ist 10-15minutes of awfulness.

This was a blind purchase from the local Ross, it was quite a bargain so I decided to try it. Before I got this, I had read the reviews on it so in my mind, I thought I knew what it might smell like. When I actually tried it, it smelled nothing like I had expected. To me personally, it smells lemony and quite powdery. It’s pleasant, but I don’t really picture someone young wearing it. I picture a wealthy and stylish grandma? Maybe it’s not THAT old but it doesn’t feel young to me. That isn’t really a bad thing, but I had expected something a little sweeter. It kind of reminds me of the scent you smell when you walk into a department store at the mall from outside, and you push through the heavy door and you’re greeted with a strong blast of A/C plus the various perfumes around you. It has a clean, pleasant, calm smell that isn’t in your face, but also… very powdery. If you like powder and a little clean zest, and something kinda classy, and you find this for a good price, you should try it. Otherwise, if you want something sweet or more sensual/party, this is not for you.

Elizabeth Ardens scents are getting plentiful in my wardrobe. I find that I like most of them and that they are very well made.
After finding and loving “5th Avenue” (the original) I didn’t quite know what to expect from this ‘flanker’. The original is quite heavy yet oh so lovely. Calling this one “5th Avenue After Five” gave me the impression it would be a heavier and even more deeper scent since it is intended for after work. How wrongly they named it! And how wrongly did I expect a clone of 5th Avenue! For this one is nothing like it!
After Five is a super-pretty-expensive-smelling-soapy-clean-slightly-lemony-almost-aquatic-super-fresh-scent-with-wood-notes. So very different from 5th Avenue!
Plum with honeysuckle on a bed of (lots) of bergamot. Birch and sandalwood notes embracing the entire scent evolvement to the dry down. It’s classy, clean and super fresh. After Five is perfect for many all round occasions: office, home, gym, leisure and summer. To me however it’s not ‘naughty’ enou
